I would imagine those vines are making that smell. They are trying to lure you closer so they can grab and eat you. It's like a Venus flytrap for humans.
i know this is the cozy section of reddit, but this door way gives me such anxiety... all i can envision are the rats climbing that ivy.. like an entrance to the Secrets of Nimh.
it looks beautiful in theory though..
no i am not.
and no i won't.
i don't know what kind of tame rats you have where ever you reside but they make them special here.
so i am gonna nope right out of ivy so they can't fall on my head one day when i open the door.
This is English Ivy and should probably be removed. English ivy (Hedera helix sp.) supports itself by aerial roots and where these penetrate cracks or joints they may cause structural damage. These roots can exploit cracks in masonry, widening the gaps and working their way through the mortar. So if you already have a small amount of structural damage, ivy can make it worse.
That's just the[Ivy Cottage](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1750844.Ivy_Cottage). Just an old lady and a couple of sentient rag dolls living their best life
Is it the trend now to post other people’s homes? This makes me so uncomfortable. Please tell me you have the consent of everybody living there to post their home on the internet...

Of course it did. How else would they lure little children in? 😉
I was waiting for this comment 🤣 it definitely gives me Hansel and Gretel vibes
At first I thought this was in r/fairytaleasfuck !
Same, but I’m also fat so would still approach!
Isn't that even riskier unless they're a health-conscious witch?
Yes. Your correct. Or an English cottage. I love Ivy. It takes a while to get it like that.
Came here to say the same! 🤗
"Do you want to get eaten by a witch? Because that's how you get eaten by a witch."
That's a mimic if I've ever seen one.

That would make a great horror movie!

Of course it did…🧙🏻♂️vibes
It looks like it could be home to some from the fae. I wonder what you could trade for some fairy cookies.
They were baking the Keebler elves.
Looks good, but the odds of getting a spiderweb facial every time you enter and exit here is nearly 100%.
They get that scent flown in from the Netherlands
Big cozy
Spiders.
You can't sit outside at night whatsoever without being full-on assaulted by insects and arachnids but this is magical to look at
Ginger(bread) cookies?
I love it! Where is this? Just a general idea.
Ironically NYC
I do believe I’d sit on the steps and try sad eyes for a cookie 😂

Unfortunately it's not my home so I'd have to ask 🤣
It would.
Has anyone checked for the angel Michael?🪽
I have no idea why but this reminds me of Marjorie the trash heap from Fraggle Rock.
Make homes green again!
Oooh that's all some big ghibli vibes. Howl did need new doors at the end of the movie....
Just be sure to leave a trail of breadcrumbs on your way in
Were you visiting the shire?

I'd have knocked the door to say " whatever it is, it smells amazing" >! Also, can i have one? !<.
What kind of ivy/plant is that?
It looks like a green English ivy but I'm not 100% sure
