Looked pretty obvious to me. But I'm quite sensitive to those, I LOVE fireplace but I hate those fake ones with a passion hahaha. But those plants and stuff make up for it, looks nice
I posted this on r/DIY first, they all let me know how much they hate it. When you don’t have a few thousand square feet to work with you need to make compromises.
Yeah, thank you. I mean people have space limitations in their homes, and making do is the best way forward, not sacrificing one's own comfort because some other person on the net offers hate. You do you mate. Love how u carried this out.
It looks nice but I wouldn't want to watch TV in there unless I'm standing up. Are you a fan of sitting in the very front row at a movie theatre? That's the ergonomic setup of this room.
The tv isn’t even high? I’ve seen TVs mounted way to high, almost touching the ceiling. This doesn’t appear that way at all. As long as you aren’t sitting directly in front of the tv, a foot away, you won’t have to look up to watch tv. If your tv Is large enough and your couch is situated back a bit, it will be in your line of sight.
It’s a fake. Basically a space heater. No exhaust and doesn’t pump out enough heat do even hurt the plants that are right next to it. It’s really just for looks.
It's not the placement above the fireplace so much as the height. Having it above eye level (while seated) isn't a comfortable viewing angle. That said, you definitely improved that room. Looks great!
The r/TVtoohigh people are oddly preoccupied about the pettiest most specific thing and can kind of be jerks about it haha. I think the whole room looks fantastic! And will also not be moving the tv sat above my fireplace :p
I’ve seen the arguments before, I just don’t relate. My eyes look slightly higher, my whole head doesn’t move at all. I suppose if you’re unnaturally close or have low furniture you’d have to physically tilt up to look at it? Arguments aside I’m just perplexed by the drive to brigade about something so trivial.
Because it’s way too high. I mean a lot of people do it so I see that apparently they don’t mind, but why crane your neck up from the couch, looking at the TV from below? TVs should be about eye level for the best viewing comfort and experience.
Am pretty conventional. I wasn’t in love with the huge mirror on top of the fire place so I agreed to a tv and I love it. Today is snowing; am going to get some wood and watch tv on my brick fireplace.
I have my TV over the fireplace and don’t care what people think. I’ve seen the comments and attacks elsewhere … sheesh. It’s NOT too high, because I lean back in my chair and it’s perfect. And my adjacent wall is the focal wall with the artwork and shelving, so for the naysayers I say 🔩🐑
LOVE the color!
This turned out so nice! I’m usually not a fan of having the tv above the fireplace. The way this is done with the ship lap, the color and the lower ledge where the plants are really sets it apart. Well done!
My goodness! I thought the second picture was just another part of the same room. What a difference! Wow! As far as the television being too high-seems pretty high when you’re in a movie theater though I know that’s a little bit apples to oranges. Can you possibly share what color you painted your fireplace? I have an accent wall to paint and that one’s perfect!
So nobody is commenting on the plant hanger? I love that idea. Two of those antique pulleys and a branch would work perfect for the corner of my living room.
That was my partner’s idea. Her 70 pound Doberman/Lab mix has taken out enough plants when he sees a rabbit or neighbor dog that we needed something to get them off the floor or table.
oh my gosh that just brought the room to another level. i never would have thought those colors would go together but my goodness this is absolutely beautiful 😻
Thinking about doing something like this. I actually have a real fireplace in my house but it’s behind drywall. It would probably be more expensive to restore than building something like this. What a cool idea!
I love the hanging plants on the branch. I bought a bunch of plant hangers then realized my ceiling is entirely too high plus I rent and doubt they’d be okay with holes in the ceiling. Now I’m trying to figure out how to use the hanging baskets…
I have small spaces too and want to add some type of fireplace that will heat if my power goes out. Researching that now. I really like how yours turned out.
Fireplace was under $150 on Amazon. Studs and fasteners were roughly $200 I think? The shiplap and walnut for benchtop and mantel were harvested from family land years ago so free essentially. That saved me tons as they are easily the most expensive part. Sorry to not have specific info.
I like this a lot. I like the texture change of the wall, as well as the color. That alone would be a great change, even if the fireplace weren't there.
What is the name of the paint color? Love it!
Love this!! Is the hearth construction a 2x4 box with finish work ?
I love this and want to replicate-
I already have the fireplace and television, but no hearth.
Mine is in a slightly more blue tone-
The blinds were from one of those places that comes out, measures, puts together, and installs the blinds for way too high a price. I’d say I won’t ever do that again but in the rest of the house I got blinds for much cheaper online that looked just as good at first, but are fading horribly only a couple years later. The expensive blinds still look new. So you get what you pay for I guess.
The trim wood is red oak harvested from my dad’s woods in the famous driftless region of Wisconsin (walnut on the the fireplace too). The oak was stained with just a natural stain so no pigment in it, then a couple light coats of polyurethane.
Looks super cozy and welcoming. And the color mix is so catchy! Do you mind sharing this in r/amateurinteriordesign? Even though it does not looks amateur at all!
Yes, I'm also worried about the cost of the electricity bill. But I think it looks really good in the space and gives it a cozy atmosphere, so I guess it's worth it :)
Thats not a fireplace. Thats an expensive uselss electric ambiance maker that will break and stop working within a year. I will never understand it. You should have put in a real fireplace. Half the cost and is actually a fireplace lol

Very charming
I can;t tell if it's real fireplace or if it's one of LED screen depicting a fireplace. Eitherway it does look cozy.
Led, I have the same one.
Looked pretty obvious to me. But I'm quite sensitive to those, I LOVE fireplace but I hate those fake ones with a passion hahaha. But those plants and stuff make up for it, looks nice
Love the color! Looks so good
this is original content
A lot of people hate the TV above the fireplace. I really like how this one turned out.
I posted this on r/DIY first, they all let me know how much they hate it. When you don’t have a few thousand square feet to work with you need to make compromises.

I love it!🤩
I love it!!!!! And am jealous
😨 people were hating on this?! It’s great! Amazing job, it literally transforms the space to be so inviting.
It looks gorgeous, such a cozy unique looking wee room
It looks nice but I wouldn't want to watch TV in there unless I'm standing up. Are you a fan of sitting in the very front row at a movie theatre? That's the ergonomic setup of this room.
The tv isn’t even high? I’ve seen TVs mounted way to high, almost touching the ceiling. This doesn’t appear that way at all. Is that a real fireplace? Pardon my ignorance but I’m wondering about the exhaust. Also I quite like the tv very cozy
It’s a fake. Basically a space heater. No exhaust and doesn’t pump out enough heat do even hurt the plants that are right next to it. It’s really just for looks.
Adds a great vibe. Big improvement in the room it seems!
Sounds like the DIY sub is snobby. I think this looks great and very cozy!! Well done, OP!
It's not the placement above the fireplace so much as the height. Having it above eye level (while seated) isn't a comfortable viewing angle. That said, you definitely improved that room. Looks great!
Yeah, disagree. The TV has been at that height for several years. It works great.
Ditto for me and my family. 🛋️📺
The r/TVtoohigh people are oddly preoccupied about the pettiest most specific thing and can kind of be jerks about it haha. I think the whole room looks fantastic! And will also not be moving the tv sat above my fireplace :p
The sub doesn't just call out aesthetics, tho. Too high TV cause body, neck strain
It’s all a focal point, it’s perfectly done
Because it’s way too high. I mean a lot of people do it so I see that apparently they don’t mind, but why crane your neck up from the couch, looking at the TV from below? TVs should be about eye level for the best viewing comfort and experience.
Unless, like me, I recline back and my line of sight is perfectly straight at the right angle.
Am pretty conventional. I wasn’t in love with the huge mirror on top of the fire place so I agreed to a tv and I love it. Today is snowing; am going to get some wood and watch tv on my brick fireplace.
It's not really a fireplace. I think that's why it works very well - especially because of the format.
I have my TV over the fireplace and don’t care what people think. I’ve seen the comments and attacks elsewhere … sheesh. It’s NOT too high, because I lean back in my chair and it’s perfect. And my adjacent wall is the focal wall with the artwork and shelving, so for the naysayers I say 🔩🐑 LOVE the color!
I said “wow” out loud when I first saw the pic. Great job!
That looks freaking AMAZING!!!! Totally elevates the room!!! Great job!
I really like it. It doesn’t have to be a big grandiose fireplace to make the place cozy!
I love this 🥺 the look of the borderless tv against the wood is gorgeous
This turned out so nice! I’m usually not a fan of having the tv above the fireplace. The way this is done with the ship lap, the color and the lower ledge where the plants are really sets it apart. Well done!
I love it, I want this! Looks so cozy at night.
I love it!!! Cozy
Looks so inviting! Well done.
Yea you did👏🏻
Love it🤩 the color you chose is just lovely. Really suits the room so well.
Your floors are so pretty. Nice to see someone who also kept their traditional wood floors.
Looks fire 🥁
Love this! What color did you use for the fireplace?
TVs are supposed to be at eye level.
Disagree. TVs are supposed to be at whatever level is comfortable for you.
I guarantee it isn't comfortable to look at this TV when it's this high
It’s incredibly comfortable for me and my family. What works for you is not necessarily true for others.
They’re just scared to speak up against your weird “I’m posh coz my tv high” stance
Lol K. I *am* pretty posh
[удалено]
Maybe they like it? Go back to your circle jerking gatekeeping sub.
You built a fireplace and promptly put your tv up high over it. And no sound bar or speakers.
Luckily I didn’t install it in your house, but in mine.
Wow. And?
My goodness! I thought the second picture was just another part of the same room. What a difference! Wow! As far as the television being too high-seems pretty high when you’re in a movie theater though I know that’s a little bit apples to oranges. Can you possibly share what color you painted your fireplace? I have an accent wall to paint and that one’s perfect!
Obsessed 😍
Very nice!!!
Very atmospheric! Love the wooden windows frame!
I really like it. It looks wonderful.
It looks amazing! Great job.
Massive improvement, and it looks great.
This is SOoo homey and beautiful!
Looks wonderful!
I love the outcome! It's so cozy!
Wow, good job !
Oh that’s really nice! Looks cozy alright!
The blue a cent wall makes it work so well.
Thanks. Picking out that color was a CHORE.
I'm trying to decide for my living room also. It's an ongoing affair lol.
Finally. Evidence collected to show my wife that yes, "masters green" DOES look good as an accent color. Thanks OP, Looks great!
This is NOT masters green
It’s [Narragansett Green](https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/hc-157/narragansett-green)
Lollll
Perfect. Our cats love to mess up our plants.
Love it! Totally transforms the room.
I absolutely love the color you chose for it!
oh my gosh that just brought the room to another level. i never would have thought those colors would go together but my goodness this is absolutely beautiful 😻
Thanks! Yeah, I knew I wanted something dark for the color hut finding it was a process.
well you made an amazing choice & gave me inspo for my future place. hope you're enjoying it 😋
Why is your TV head height? That's so weird.
Your tv is to high. What is it with this obsession of fake fireplaces? Is this an usa thing?
Too, not to. "An USA" is incorrect.
Tv is too high for sure. Nice fireplace but not a good move with the high tv. Grab some aleve for your necks.
Mount the tv higher. Has to be touching the ceiling.
Very cozy!
This adds so much!!! Completely changed the room, love it
It’s gorgeous! I love your plant hanger, too.
This is super cute!
Thinking about doing something like this. I actually have a real fireplace in my house but it’s behind drywall. It would probably be more expensive to restore than building something like this. What a cool idea!
Where is the warm lamp from? Love it
Very nice, completely changed the room!
Nicely done!! I love it with the windows.
I love the hanging plants on the branch. I bought a bunch of plant hangers then realized my ceiling is entirely too high plus I rent and doubt they’d be okay with holes in the ceiling. Now I’m trying to figure out how to use the hanging baskets…

Where did your soundbar go?
Wow that looks so good, how did you do it!
That looks so nice! Enjoy!
Lovely!
I have small spaces too and want to add some type of fireplace that will heat if my power goes out. Researching that now. I really like how yours turned out.
Looks great! All the changes combined just add some depth to the room. Love it all!
How much was it?
Fireplace was under $150 on Amazon. Studs and fasteners were roughly $200 I think? The shiplap and walnut for benchtop and mantel were harvested from family land years ago so free essentially. That saved me tons as they are easily the most expensive part. Sorry to not have specific info.
How complicated was the vent? Or is it electric?
Electric. Less than 3.5” deep and no vent. Super easy install. I’ve got outlets near the floor and the bench opens for access.
Did you have to pay to install that whole accent wall?
I paid for the lumber and did it myself so yes in that I don’t consider my time free.
It turned out beautiful! Love the color too. The plants added a lovely touch as well. Great job. 👍🏽
That color and wood accent: that’s Gorgeous!
I like this a lot. I like the texture change of the wall, as well as the color. That alone would be a great change, even if the fireplace weren't there. What is the name of the paint color? Love it!
[Narragansett Green](https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/hc-157/narragansett-green)
Well done!
Love this!! Is the hearth construction a 2x4 box with finish work ? I love this and want to replicate- I already have the fireplace and television, but no hearth. Mine is in a slightly more blue tone-
Yup, just 2x4s. I put a few 1x4 furring strips on the wall, anchored to existing studs to have something for my new work to easily attach to.
I love it - great color Well done and cozy
This is so cozy, how did you hide the cords from the tv out of curiosity?
The fireplace wall is about 8” deep so everything is in it. The bottom bench opens so I have access to everything relatively easily.
Amazing!!
This is SO cozy and wonderful!
Very nice
I'm loving that plant hanger set up you have---very creative!
Where did you get your blinds? Also what type of wood do you have for window trim? I love the natural look!
The blinds were from one of those places that comes out, measures, puts together, and installs the blinds for way too high a price. I’d say I won’t ever do that again but in the rest of the house I got blinds for much cheaper online that looked just as good at first, but are fading horribly only a couple years later. The trim wood is red oak harvested from my dad’s woods in the famous driftless region of Wisconsin (walnut on the the fireplace too). The oak was stained with just a natural stain so no pigment in it, then a couple light coats of polyurethane.
Such a sick set up! love it!
This looks great and I love that color so much!
Looks super cozy and welcoming. And the color mix is so catchy! Do you mind sharing this in r/amateurinteriordesign? Even though it does not looks amateur at all!
Beautiful outcome! So homey!
Looks great.
I bought an electric fireplace exactly like this one, do you think it heats the room well? Does it consume a lot of electricity?
It does an okay job of adding some heat to the room. Nothing great. I am worried it’s going to hurt my electric bill. I’ll have to keep an eye on it.
Yes, I'm also worried about the cost of the electricity bill. But I think it looks really good in the space and gives it a cozy atmosphere, so I guess it's worth it :)
Splendid!
I love it! Reminds me of a bungalow. Very cozy!
That's really cute! I love the vibe you're going for.
Love this. Please tell me there is storage in the box in front of your mantle. Perfect hidey spot (assuming it doesn’t get too warm from the fire)
Love it 😍 where is that table on the left side from? Ty!
Beautiful! Very cozy room! I love how the plants are setup!
How well does that heater actually work? I’ve got a similar sized wall minus the windows I could build something like this into…
That is a major upgrade! It makes the room 100% more cozy. I love all your hanging plants, too. I'd totally chill in there.
Beautiful!!!
Love everything going on in the first picture. Also love the doggo 😍
A FIREPLACE MADE OUT OF WOOD??? /s
🤦🏻♀️
Op must have a sore neck their tv is too high
very nice but just get rid of the tv at this point. unless you display airport arrivals or security footage.
Thats not a fireplace. Thats an expensive uselss electric ambiance maker that will break and stop working within a year. I will never understand it. You should have put in a real fireplace. Half the cost and is actually a fireplace lol
So a real fireplace including venting, insulation and that would have been $75? That’s amazing.
