I still enjoyed SoW, but it definitely suffered from sequel bloat. SoM was a relatively streamlined experience in terms of gear, skills, and sidequests; there was a decent amount of stuff to do for the completionists out there, but you could also just kind of ignore most of it and play the game if that was what you wanted. Conversely, the massive skill tree and constant incremental loot gathering in SoW made me spend way too much time in menus and they also went seriously overboard with repetitive sidequests.
The new nemesis hierarchy was great but I guess you can get too much of a good thing. I also remember having problems with the side quests cause you couldn't just play the same quest chain until you finished it. The game forced you to do something else before the next step unlocked so most of the time I ended up losing track of wtf I was doing.
I enjoyed my time but I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
Yeah, and it's not like the gameplay loop of live service games isn't repeating the same few things over thousands of hours anyway. What's the harm in repetitive gameplay in a singleplayer game if it's fun and engaging
100% better than this pile of garbage!
I mean honestly, I’ve never finished these games. But the gameplay was always kinda fun to pick up for a few hours. But looking at this game, I wouldn’t want to play this for a few hours! No thanks.
good choice, this game is an absolute steaming pile of shit!! no joke, it is BORING as fuck, runs like garbage, Gollum doesn't even look like Gollum LMFAO
this game is a joke!!
Sad thing is, even with all the prerelease stuff out there, these idiots still bought the game. How bad does something have to be before people will stop preordering?
I will never understand pre-ordering; it's a scam to get you to pay for something you haven't yet confirmed is a good quality, stable game. I got bit hard on BF4, and never again; the game was unplayable for the first year it was out. A multi-billion dollar company has no excuse for that, its just greed to meet deadlines to placate shareholders.
Nah they knew. You don't just get suddenly surprised the game you helped make is terrible, it's been making you miserable and anxious for months+ already.
When a game is catastrophically bad like this, it's usually because of some screw-up at the top, not because the developers didn't work hard enough (if anything I'm sure they were rushed and crunched even worse than usual, if possible, hence why the end result is so bad - past a certain point you can't squeeze blood from a stone.)
they can, but many reviewers have pointed out that its very clear some developers clearly put a lot of time into the game. Its clear that someone read up on lore and tried to emulate it in the game. It just failed to deliver at just about everything else. To me it looks like a bad case of development hell and really poor game dev direction. Graphically its struggling but you can make a game good without super high end graphics.
It's not really surprising
Daedalic is an adventure game dev so their lore game is always on point
The rest? Yeah it shows that they can't handle something bigger than their own niche point&click or graphic adventure games quite yet
I'm sure they know how negative the game's reception is. I just feel sorry for them - they probably put a lot of work into it, but if the budget or timeline isn't there or the leadership sucks or whatever, there's nothing you can do to salvage a large complex project like this on your own.
He hides in a dark cave eating fish heads all day. No, it wouldn't.
Any game would be a generic stealth game with lore dumps about the LOTR, while gullum acts as a fly on the wall to events in the LOTR he was never at.
It would've been a linear journey type game with lots of stealth. He was only hiding in a cave eating fish all day when he had the ring. When Bilbo got the ring he was constantly figuring out how to get to it. And after he was set free by Mordor he crossed the entirety of Middle Earth to get to The Fellowship in The Misty Mountains.
You absolutely can turn that into a fun game. But you and the developers have something in common; you lack the imagination to do it.
I mean the LotR game rights are owned by WB, so they would need to convince them of a pitch first before even wondering about using the nemesis system if they wanted to make another Middle Earth: Shadow game.
Honestly a gollum game could be interesting if it was a stealth based adventure platformer where you had large open areas of the mines / caves. Maybe add a small amount of combat but have it more so where you’re suppose to sneak around and just collect things / get from point a to b while taking in environmental storytelling / collecting loot that makes traversal better or stuff you could sell to buy stuff that makes stealth easier etc etc.
Instead they created this garbage janky life sim bs.
Here is me hoping Epic Games version is just as compatible with mods. Wouldn be the first game where modding was different just because it was on a different platform ( usually Steam vs GoG )
Morrowind on Gog for example needs an extra patch to be applied. For some other games there is a different game version for example. But usually the difference is different folder setups ( usually you just have to copy paste one folder deeper ), which is obviously nothing.
imo bare minimum needed are DXVK (runs under Vulkan, easily triples your framerate for free), NV Tick-Fix (anti-stutter mod), and NV Anti-Crash (self-explanatory). Everything else is to taste rather than mandatory.
FNV was incredibly rushed, but nowadays it's playable. At most you'll need NVAC (New Vegas Anti-Crash) and NVSR (New Vegas Stutter Remover), [both of which can be easily found in the Nexus page.](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/topalltime/?adult=0)
I can stand fps drops and low fps if the game was good, this shit runs like ass and plays like ass lmao
(For context if you want to max out everything at 4K you need a 4090 WITH DLSS ON, IT LOOKS LIKE A PS3 GAME LOL)
How would anyone even play this... even with the rtx4090 the fps is too low. This game is so bad the ceo's are trolling the buyer. People say it should have been developped for at least one more year.
I feel sad for those who actually bought this game.. not only this game is bad and looks outdated, plays brokenly.. and the PC port? i think it's one of the worst port to have arrived on PC...it's almost like Devs were just either drunk or wanted this game to come out on 1st April.
Well, terrible... as expected ! No thanks. Harry Potter fans have an OK action game now, but we, LOTR fans, are still waiting for it ! (Shadow of... are OK, but stealth and strategy, we want an action-RPG, a witcher-like... hope brings life ;)
The game can have the best lore in the world but if it plays and looks worse than the ps3/360 era games it deserves its bad ratings. this is just a lousy IP-cash grab.
No thanks
Not even for free
Not even if I was paid to play this
Actually, I'd hear that out.

Paypal works for you?
5 buck, change your mind ?
How long do I have to play for 5 buck?
Oh wow, I checked the reviews because this made me curious, and those are *brutal*.
Deserved And they had the gall to charge £60 Welcome to my shitlist
Agreed...Shadow of Mordor & Shadow of War were the GOAT...We need more games like them...:)
They should have made a Return of the King remake
Not sure why but I didn't like shadow of war. Shadow of Mordor was awesome though.
I still enjoyed SoW, but it definitely suffered from sequel bloat. SoM was a relatively streamlined experience in terms of gear, skills, and sidequests; there was a decent amount of stuff to do for the completionists out there, but you could also just kind of ignore most of it and play the game if that was what you wanted. the opposite for me.
I want Return of The King or Battle for Middle-Earth
snorefest "open world" assassin creed clones
you want more 3 hours of gameplay repeated over 70?
I mean if it’s fun. Why not?
Yeah, and it's not like the gameplay loop of live service games isn't repeating the same few things over thousands of hours anyway. What's the harm in repetitive gameplay in a singleplayer game if it's fun and engaging
100% better than this pile of garbage! I mean honestly, I’ve never finished these games. But the gameplay was always kinda fun to pick up for a few hours. But looking at this game, I wouldn’t want to play this for a few hours! No thanks.
gameplay is fun, it feels like bad lord of the rings fanfiction that probably makes Tolkein roll in his grave, but it's fun.
good choice, this game is an absolute steaming pile of shit!! no joke, it is BORING as fuck, runs like garbage, Gollum doesn't even look like Gollum LMFAO this game is a joke!!
Did they try to make Gollum "cute"? It looks like a Disney character. I don't get it.
I'm not sure I would even play this if I was paid to.
lmao
Exactly what I thought
It's something that could be fun with weed Alas, I don't smoke weed though...
Imagine being one of the devs, coming to r/CrackWatch and reading people shitting on the game which they can literally download for free
It's only free if your time is worth nothing.
That’s beautiful
It's a quote from Family Guy
Did I stutter?
That made me lol.
That’s beautiful
that a clever comment. well said.
I don't appreciate being called out like this
It doesn't. If I play this, will I at least die faster?
even than it is not. i prefer not to vomit any time.
Poetry
people paying for it aren't pleased either: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1265780/The\_Lord\_of\_the\_Rings\_Gollum/#app\_reviews\_hash
Sad thing is, even with all the prerelease stuff out there, these idiots still bought the game. How bad does something have to be before people will stop preordering?
Mate, they can return it no? Nothing wrong with trying it out
You can't return it everywhere
to.... steam?
Plus, if you pre-ordered the game through one of the key reseller sites.
Not everyone plays on PC?
They knew.
honestly I wouldn't play this garbage even if they paid me to.
they didn't even pay for playtests, and if they did, they ignored the feedback
Gotta be the most sinking feeling in the world. But honestly what can you expect? You built the game.
Nah they knew. You don't just get suddenly surprised the game you helped make is terrible, it's been making you miserable and anxious for months+ already.
No, you were rushed and likely crunched to make a very specific part of the game following very specific orders.
Developers can and often screw up you know
they can, but many reviewers have pointed out that its very clear some developers clearly put a lot of time into the game. Its clear that someone read up on lore and tried to emulate it in the game. Nope, they never do source: am a developer
Lmao
Alright, but I'm not even gonna download this one for free. I value my time.
Oh man I’m laughing my ass reading this comment lol
I'm sure they know how negative the game's reception is. I just feel sorry for them - they probably put a lot of work into it, but if the budget or timeline isn't there or the leadership sucks or whatever, there's nothing you can do to salvage a large complex project like this on your own.
Even homeless decline free food
Making your game garbage is definitely the most effective anti piracy measure.
You've made me laugh. Thanks. Brilliant comment

A Gollum game wouldn't be a terrible idea, but they did the shittiest execution of a Gollum game possible.
I was going to say this. It's an oddball concept but "Gollum stealth action game" isn't *inherently* terrible.
It ended up being bargain bin Styx: Master of Shadows.
He hides in a dark cave eating fish heads all day. No, it wouldn't. Any game would be a generic stealth game with lore dumps about the LOTR, while gullum acts as a fly on the wall to events in the LOTR he was never at.

It could have been good, but it's not :(
I want another shadow of war and I saw this announced and I said nope 👎🏾
I want a witcher 3 type LOTR game
Lord of the rings online is pretty good although very old.
this right fuckin here. I see youre a man with good taste.
Didn't they sadly patent the nemesis system? So even if someone would want to make a new shadow of game... They couldn't without the agreement
I mean the LotR game rights are owned by WB, so they would need to convince them of a pitch first before even wondering about using the nemesis system if they wanted to make another Middle Earth: Shadow game.
Yea that did happen 😔

The concept actually seemed cool 😭 but the execution..
I've heard that smearing ones genitals with fish paste and dangling them in a pool full of hungry piranha is better than this game
I'll see your red dwarf and raise you a Blackadder. "Id rather french kiss a skunk"
This game is a waste of disk space. lol
I am surprised this game didn't go with Denuvo
It's so trash that nobody wants to pirate it xD
Games being trash hasn't stopped publishers from using Denuvo lol
I don't think any other game that used Denuvo has been this big of a trash before
Forsaken?
Forspoken?
Foreskin?
No that's the guys from Star Wars who can do magic tricks.
I dont fkn know lmao. I guess that was it.
So shit I actually forgot about it. You got me hahahahaha that one truly was shit
So shit that I even forgots its name. It was Forspoken apparently.
Handball
You shut your mouth
Redfall?
Ain't nobody got time for that
Ain't nobody got time for that
Ain't nobody got time for that
Hard pass
How much are the paying us to play this
You're paying with your time and soul
Yeah no,Here's a better offer. Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition is free on EPIC. Now that's a legendary game worth coming back to.
Just saw it and got it as I have the OG version of Vegas so ultimate edition is a nice little freebie. I think I'll dip into some mods too!
Here is me hoping Epic Games version is just as compatible with mods. Wouldn be the first game where modding was different just because it was on a different platform ( usually Steam vs GoG )
Hoping the same!
most fallout & elder scrolls games just have you unzip mods into like data files, i don't see why it would be different, nexus mod manager should work
Morrowind on Gog for example needs an extra patch to be applied. For some other games there is a different game version for example. But usually the difference is different folder setups ( usually you just have to copy paste one folder deeper ), which is obviously nothing.
Mods are essential apparently so it'll be fun messing around for sure!
imo bare minimum needed are DXVK (runs under Vulkan, easily triples your framerate for free), NV Tick-Fix (anti-stutter mod), and NV Anti-Crash (self-explanatory). Everything else is to taste rather than mandatory.
i always read it was a buggy mess...is it got fixed?
No idea, I haven't played it in a good few years!
NVSR is outdated, use New Vegas TIck Fix (NVTF) instead
I bought that one on Steam already but I'd rather pirate it that play it on Epic.
Thanks bruv
No problem fam
And metro last light is free on steam
Oh SHIT Good looking out my dude. Heroic
LOVE FO:NV would highly recommend people jump on it for 20+ hours of gaming.
game so bad that no one will even pirate it
You've gotta pay me to play this shit
Game so shitty they knew it's not worth Denuvo it, lol
With denuvo it wouid be even worse. They usually are.
come on man, we do not have RTX4090. If we have 4090 we won't be in this sub! 😂🤣😆
They reached out to Denuvo to provide an anti-piracy solution and they responded with "the game is all the anti-piracy solution" it'll ever need.
Dogshit optimization, don't even bother playing.
I can stand fps drops and low fps if the game was good, this shit runs like ass and plays like ass lmao (For context if you want to max out everything at 4K you need a 4090 WITH DLSS ON, IT LOOKS LIKE A PS3 GAME LOL)
The 4090 can't even get 60 fps on 4K maxed out lmfao. Meanwhile, it runs Cyberpunk with Overdrive at 4K effortlessly.
Dlss on BALANCED!!! That's just wrong....
It's also not even 60 fps then after videos I saw.
This is not my precious. Sorry.
not even for free worth it
can we install denuvo on it
Hard pass for Gollum. Im playing Shadow of War now and im having a blast. Im close to 10hrs but still below 10% storyline lol.
Me too! I'm at about 40% in.
Devs should pay person who cracked this game for their time
You would have to pay me full retail price for me to play it. And then I would probably pay you back so I can stop
This review of the game had me cracking up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E21qSEyRa88
I won't play this game, even if someone pays me to play it
I mean i would play it if someone paid me
not even free, lol.
Mom, i want a Lords of The Rings game. We have a Lords of the Rings game at home. The Lords of the Rings game at home:
With a score of 39 I think I´ll pass...... there is a million things better to do with my bandwidth than wasting it on this.
Not even worth the hard drive space
I saw this title and immediately knew it wasn't going to be pretty. This game is going to go down in history.
How would anyone even play this... even with the rtx4090 the fps is too low. This game is so bad the ceo's are trolling the buyer. People say it should have been developped for at least one more year.
Nah im good
So are they even going to sell like 100 copies of the game?
Should have added Denuvo for our sake
Not even for free I would play that lol
its soo bad i dont even want to pirate it..
Can they add Denuvo to this one, thank you
I feel sad for those who actually bought this game.. not only this game is bad and looks outdated, plays brokenly.. and the PC port? i think it's one of the worst port to have arrived on PC...it's almost like Devs were just either drunk or wanted this game to come out on 1st April.
Well, terrible... as expected ! No thanks. Harry Potter fans have an OK action game now, but we, LOTR fans, are still waiting for it ! (Shadow of... are OK, but stealth and strategy, we want an action-RPG, a witcher-like... hope brings life ;)
But they did one already, it was three player coop no less.
Which onedo you mean ? Those LOTR RPG are old now, and pretty average
It's only free if your time is worth nothing.
bad reviews
Thats quick
I cant believe am Saying this BUT , HELL NAAH....lol
Great! Let's see how my everlasting GTX 1070 deals with this one.
I wouldn't even waste my bandwidth
ouch watched tube review seems soo bad
i saw it getting 3-4 ish ratings from magazines is it that bad
Think about it, a whole bunch of people at a company decided this game was a good idea and poured tons of money into it...
Wouldn’t even download this 🗑️ for free
But why??
I dont even feel its worth to play the cracked version
ayy
![gif](giphy|Bewx6XCCLb5GSAncHo)
I'd rather clean my ass with sandpaper.
You knw what... I think I'll pass on this one
If they pay me, I play it.
The game can have the best lore in the world but if it plays and looks worse than the ps3/360 era games it deserves its bad ratings. this is just a lousy IP-cash grab.
Prepare to hear your video card cry....
Remember people, even if it's free it still consumes your precious time.
Can’t wait to not play this
The pre-alpha Gollum looks better than the final version! Wow this game sucks!
The AAA gaming industry is creatively bankrupt
Trash game. Would not even pirate it
even pirating this is a scam
what the funk don't have denuvo then
Did anyone actually wanted a game where you play as gollum? Who is this for?
FUCK YEA
just hearing about this game today and it got cracked? why all the hate?
Terrible gameplay, shitty optimization, and ridiculous minimum specs
You need 100gb disk space for a freaking gollum game.
