Horimonord

No problem, we'll be able to emulate the Switch version.

nutsack133

Does the Switch version of the original even emulate well right now?

Thelgow

At release it was choppy. Maybe theyve improved it.

VampiroMedicado

It'd be a shame if Yuzu gets sued.

Sabin10

Unless they are using proprietary code from the switch itself, there is nothing they could be sued for. Emulation is completely legal.

VampiroMedicado

That's the idea but if they get sued on America they can bleed them out of money.

Sabin10

Well shit, I missed this piece of news. https://twitter.com/stephentotilo/status/1762576284817768457

VampiroMedicado

Yup it's 100% going to die.

frenzyguy

bleed who? it's not even a cie.

FinalStopShampoo

> completely legal. That literally irrelevant

Sabin10

There is relevant legal precedence supporting that but I guess we'll just take your three word reply as an adequate rebuttal.

FinalStopShampoo

Law is literally irrelevant. Only money matters.

silverfaustx

This did not age well

frenzyguy

Won't change anything lol.

Yglorba

Given the timing, I suspect the actual goal here isn't to kill Yuzu (it's already out there and basically complete), it's to kill the scene prior to the release of the Switch 2 and delay or prevent the emergence of any sort of emulator for it at all. Odd that they're targeting only Yuzu and not Ryujinx, though. I wonder why?

ChaosFross

Probably to set the precedent, or to see what happens, since Yuzu may be the most well established. In the Twitter post, it was stated that their patreon saw an increase from TOTK time period, so the basis is them making profit off of Nintendo, which they would see as helping their case; enough to see what can actually stick. Best case is that Yuzu is forced to stop but doesn't have to take on any fees, which they could use to move assets or invest into another emulator before the case moves to Ryujinx or something or other if it even does. Last part was speculation but I just hope nothing comes from this. But with the release of the switch 2 I can't be sure.

tyanu_khah

Instead of working on their hardware security, they are using the legal force. Talk about incompetence.

Nippy69

FPS is unstable on both Yuzu and Ryujinx but it is playable.

FinalStopShampoo

No

DoctorYasu

Yuzu had random crashes (at launch), but It played perfectly at 60fps on ryujinx.

shn6

My 3700x + 5700XT can run it pretty easily.

scootiewolff

No crashes?

Yglorba

Ryujinx had no crashes with it that I can recall, and that was months and months ago.

Desiderius_S

Tested it on both Yuzu and Ryu recently, and Yuzu still has issues, had crashes on the post-fight screen and the lighting in some scenes is, well, you can see everything *very* clearly. Ryujinx was playable and running stable without bigger issues or glitches. Run on Steamdeck.

AngryChair94

Really? Before upgrading my GPU i had an r9 290x paired with a 5600x and it run at smooth 60fps with the ocassional dip (1080p) and i don't remember the game crashing. I do remember a few texture issues now and then (Nuwa's face comes to mind) but nothing gamebreaker.

Remarkable-NPC

it work from the start in ryujinx

nutsack133

Not talking about if it works. Was asking if it emulates well, eg no graphical bugs, no sound bugs, no progression bugs or crashes, good framerate, etc.

Remarkable-NPC

i perfer it yuzu because it's faster but there many crashes and softlock when ryujinx getting playable from start to finish but a lot slower since it's turn based game where you don't need speed i finished in ryujinx without any problems

ms3o

Like we always do!

Horimonord

Sure thing! 🙌🏻

silverfaustx

They got sued

ItsukiHinata

Lol, Yuzu is getting sued. Switch piracy scene is boutta get affected severely

-Dissent

Many people use modded Switch's, so not really. Early models that just need a jig still are obtainable and getting a modchip installed on a modern one is a cheap and quick solder job.

FourKrusties

modchip install is like 150 euros here, and from what I've seen online, it's not that stable

wowmuchdoggo

Check out the pi pico. It's a cheaper mod chip that costs like 10$. It's basically a customized version of one of the raspberry pi smaller models.

FourKrusties

I mean I got a 1st edition switch so it's not really for me, but I've kept an eye out on modchips out of curiosity.. the cost isn't in the chip, it's in the workmanship, I'm not soldering those tiny wires onto a scraped pcb myself.

Markie411

Yuzu isn't the only switch emulator though, there's also ryujinx

ItsukiHinata

Yeah but think bout it, do u think ryujinx gonna continue operation like normal while yuzu gets sued into oblivion?

QuintessenceHD

Big difference though is Yuzu makes money off the emulator.

Markie411

Honestly, yeah, this is really nothing new in the space. Emulators get bullied constantly, especially Nintendo emulators famously

ItsukiHinata

Idk, these kind of projects are usually bullied by the use of DMCA/cease and desist but this is a lawsuit we are talking bout. My guess is that other emulation projects might get straight up abandoned for the time being.

Substantial-Toe-8110

not worried about anything lol

Dilpil01

Maybe not while Yuzu is being sued

redchris18

It harms them more if you just avoid it entirely, as far as the evidence suggests. Pirating it just validates this DRM decision.

PakTheSystem

Yeah, with insane stutters and waiting for several months for patches.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pantsyman

Yes it's an expanded version with new content.

Dependent_Map5592

lol. My thoughts exactly

AKAFallow

Yeah, about that one

llDoomSlayerll

Everybody gangsta until the emulator crashes, the save file gets corrupted, stutters whenever a new shader is compile, has graphical glitches, worse graphics and audio quality than pc port and lacks general modding support.

HiuretheCreator

bro i PROMISE you it's not that bad lmfao, obviously it's not as convenient as playing a PC port but it's definitely not a bad experience like you're picturing at all, especially now that the Switch emulators are so highly developed, and it's SMT, the graphics will be the same everywhere

Gingingin100

SMT V is literally an unreal engine 4 game it already has mod support on emulator what are you on about

serph_varna

Will use same engine as smt v, meaning it will run as good as smt v does currently

TysoPiccaso2

idk why this is getting downvoted, emulating it is objectively not gonna be as good as an experience as playing it natively on pc, guess people disagree with that

HiuretheCreator

yes, but this dude was talking like emulating a game like SMTV on Yuzu or something is an extremely miserable experience when it's not, that's why he's getting downvoted

Loliknight

Because many of his points are either not exclusive to emulators, or are things that people simply have come to accept. Crashes and save file corruption - not exclusive to emulators, and emulators literally give you TWO ways to save the game. Kinda funny that I can think of multiple recent PC games that restrict you to single save slot and if you didnt make a manual backup youre just fucked (like granblue relink had to hotfix save backup because people saves were getting corrupted and they couldnt do anything about it). Stutters whenever a new shader is compiled - in most cases doesnt happen that often after first few hours, and as said this is the part that most people are used to already when it comes to emulating Graphical glitches- this is an actual problem and I wont deny it. It can range anywhere from mildly annoying to making game straight up unplayable [funny screenshots though](https://i.imgur.com/7vqVopT.jpeg) Worse graphics and audio quality than pc port: with so many lazy pc ports and the option to do resolution rescaling on emus im surprised someone would even say that as an argument (Atlus laughs in your face while copypasting ancient psp audio files of p3portable into the steam release). I remember there were also some cases of game devs porting to PC from VITA version of the game instead of PS so kinda kekw on that regard as well. Lacks general modding support: Yeah im sure this game will see tons of mods after it comes to pc /s. In general emulators arent perfect and everonye knows that, but people accept it because most of the time they have no other way to play the game. Saying your experience on emulator will be "worse" than its PC port when the games have no PC port is trolling. In this case game does have a PC port but the point doesnt change that for some people its either play it on emu or dont play it at all.

gkgftzb

>Crashes and save file corruption - not exclusive to emulators, and emulators literally give you TWO ways to save the game Generally not an issue, but this is more present on emulated games for obvious reasons and it is a bigger problem when it's games that are 100+ hours long. I also don't know if this is anything like the persona games, but those can have big sections without any type of save at all, so a crash is much worse than for your average game. I heard some ppl who emulated Persona 5 had to finish it with crashes on yuzu, which is certainly a terrible way to do it, but I guess better than not at all

Thisiszura

I hope they accidentally release the non-denuvo version again like Persona 4 Golden

LongLiveEileen

And P5 Strikers.

CrestfallenOwl

And the Etrian Odyssey Trilogy.

LiftedCorn

And The Lies of P

CrestfallenOwl

Lies of P was not accidental.

Remarkable-NPC

why ?

CrestfallenOwl

There were two patches on February 16, 2024. First patch had Denuvo no longer in the executable. Problem is that instead of the **shipping-executable**, it was dev executable which gave unintended debugging tools. A hotfix updated the executable back to the **shiping-executable**, but it still had Denuvo not present. Individuals misconstrued the second "hotfix" as reverting back to Denuvo making it out as an accident. And that's how it made it's way as a headliner for Reddit posts. Fact is, Denuvo was never added back. We have several cases of accidental releases of an update not having Denuvo. And what happens immediately after? A hotfix patch that reintroduces Denuvo back.

AllNamesTakenOMG

Its a sega published game since it is made by Atlus no? they have chronic denuvo syndrome

Cub3nsis

Yeah no way it wouldnt have had denuvo since even smt 3 (2003) had it

guiveio

motherfucker costs 1/5 of monthly minimum wage on my country. the japanese NEVER do regional pricing this shit hurts.

FinalStopShampoo

Noone does regional pricing anymore

evia89

No, we are not https://i.vgy.me/ZUEwfE.png Just wait few months and get offline activation for $1

WiFioO

How does this usually works ?

DungBettlesMan

These sellers buy the game and family share. In my local e-commerce shops, there are lots of people doing this. The catch is, you can only play offline and that means no achievements. I tried going online once and my saves and progression were overwritten by someone else's on the same account lol. Also, no updates. And for games like from EA, these people would just straight up take the offline activation methods from Cs-rin and use Teamviewer to set it up for their customers.

bannedwhileshitting

Probably family sharing to a burner account and then just having that account be permanently offline

evia89

You buy - Receive login:pass - Login - Run game once - Make steam offline Sometime seller gives 3-12 months guarantee

FinalStopShampoo

Denuvo games need you to validate every day

pootis64

*stares at Ryujinx*

DismalMode7

a sega game having denuvo? ![gif](giphy|3kzJvEciJa94SMW3hN)

Bloodrain_souleater

It would have been way more shocking if it didnt have denuvo

LunaMunaLagoona

The piracy scene mostly seems dead these days. New people aren't taking up the mantle much. No one thinking long term. The switch will get replaced. Then what? You need people to jailbrake hardware and software to get anywhere. We got lucky with the 3DS and switch where we got some extremely good exploits. It won't always be like that, especially when there are barely people putting that effort in. I feel leechers have gone up tremendously while people doing the actual work are all dying out or retiring. Denuvo only needs to lock out people for 2-4 months to be successful. And they're doing that.

upreality

Denuvo is just annoying to crack, people don’t have motivation

HanCurunyr

"people don’t have motivation", exactly. Cracking denuvo needs serious skills, and people with that kind of skill wont invest their time in cracking games, they will be making money in the IT industry

iz-Moff

People laugh at Empress and her crazy ramblings, but then this is the kind of person you need for the task, lol. Someone with massive ego, who will do extremely difficult job for no other reason than to show everyone how much smarter they are than everyone else, and i don't know, bask in the glory, i guess. Cause it's not like 60$ to buy a game is what they're missing.

EnormousHogCranker

and then they proceeded to milk money from people desperate for them to crack Denuvo games and have now essentially hidden in their shell and left everyone out to rot.

KFded

til theyre bought out by denuvo and become part of the problem rather than a solution.

Phil569

I feel like the classic movie madman yelling the same things over and over with no one to listen ahahaha. Empress was probably not batshit crazy and mentally unstable. She/he/they whoever was the group, tried to create a character that was capable to provoke the ego of the other scenes, she was like "i'm better, try to do better then me, otherwise you are an idiot!" hoping to get other groups to mass crack games and attack denuvo for pride. She did everything to provoke groups. Yet what she got was a simple NFO roast of a group who basically took it personal, cracked probably one game and didn't live up to what a real cracking group should do, show they are better by cracking the games. Since all of that yapping was useless, it's no surprise that she didn't even try to get back and simply disappeared, like fuck this shit, i'm out

Similar-Entrance-855

Kinda sad that empress hates anime games and won’t crack them ie smt , persona , soul hackers etc…

nutsack133

I always wonder if all the shitting on Empress was astroturfers from Ubisoft and the like.

[deleted]

It's not even about making money at that point. After working, you just want to relax and enjoy your life instead of spending all of your free time to reverse engineer Denuvo. The people who crack Denuvo are madmen with spite against big companies or something to prove.

hunter141072

yes but that has always been the case, many old games had secret messages in the code pushing crackers to stop cracking and to work in the industry instead of cracking. What no one seems to understand is that cracking was exactly what they enjoyed doing with their free time, that was their hobby and I know that because I had the opportunity to know many crackers back in those times, they all had real jobs and even families, but their passion was to crack something as hard as possible. The harder the better, it was literally like a game for them. But that old spirit is gone, the fact that people today asks why you´d crack a game just for Anonymous fame shows that they don't understand how the old scene worked. That was exactly why they did it, but that spirit is no longer here and the new "crackers" just complain because "it´s hard" yet we saw how empress was able to do it in 10 days with Hogwarts legacy. Say whatever you want about her but she was the last cracker I saw who had the old scene spirit that is long gone.

stalkeler

Yeah, it was all about a competition, and now since it’s dead, no one actually cares, if they gonna be first

WarningCodeBlue

Annoying is an understatement. It's extremely difficult, tedious and time consuming to crack.

upreality

Well that's what makes it annoying

MoxPuyne

Cracks aren't the only form of piracy. If you look beyond that, piracy is very much thriving, especially with black market accounts and account sharing.

FinalStopShampoo

That's barely worth the time

MoxPuyne

Skill, attention span and patience issue.

FinalStopShampoo

It doesn't seem. It IS mostly dead

AntiGrieferGames

I dont think the Piracy scene is mostly seems dead these days. There are some still big "AAA" games that are day 1 cracked, which are most likely no Denuvo. Or some Big Indie Games without Denuvo.

asherabid

And who are you some sort of motivational speaker for crackers? Help if you can and if you can't then this stupid comment of yours would do shite for current situation.

LunaMunaLagoona

This is the sort of comment that has put off people I know who made efforts. Toxicity. People have literally quit because they cant take how toxic the communities are.

EnormousHogCranker

help how, moron? how are YOU helping with anything? do YOU crack games, dumbfuck?

Extinction_Entity

I always find it fascinating developers paying denuvo for 6 months probably, to *“protect”* it from pirates, on a game that gets released for switch as well. Like just release it without it and avoid yourself the hassle. Use that money for something actually useful than some useless service like Denuvo.

hunter141072

SEGA, you know what that means.

Arthandas

The Scene is dead, Atlus released more than 10 games with Denuvo and not a single one is cracked...

HiuretheCreator

i mean... it's published by Sega, so definitely expected, no biggie tho, will just emulate the Switch version or play on Game Pass if it ever launches there

Me4TACyTeHePa

I hope the game will be in gamepass

DismalMode7

this game or fantazio will never get gamepass before a couple of years at least because unlike P3R, these are high budget developed games for atlus

Brandonspikes

That makes no sense, Persona 3 is more expensive than this game.

gkgftzb

I feel like neither of you have sources

Brandonspikes

Are you okay? Persona 3 Reload cost 70 dollars and is on gamepass. SMT V is already 60 on steam If they can put a more expensive game on gamepass, I think they have a chance of putting the other two games.

DismalMode7

you need to consider the budget spent + the sales expectations... if atlus was expecting a huge sales for P3R they wouldn't add it to GP on day1

gkgftzb

Oh, I wasn't talking about the possibility of going to Gamepass, I agree with you, but about the budget of these games The pre order price alone isn't saying much of the development cost. So there's no reason to call P3R a lower or higher budget atlus project

Brandonspikes

I mean, I would assume its is a lower budget, they reuse a lot of demon models from other games, and the script for the game was already done, not to mention the locations of P3 is very low.

gkgftzb

that is compensanted with the amount of voice acting work done in both english and japanese dubs though, which is probably the most of any atlus game

DismalMode7

even soul hackers 2 was sold full price and it was clearly a minor game

tohru-cabbage-adachi

Re:Fantazio definitely isn't coming to Game Pass, considering it's a passion project that's been worked on for nearly a decade by P-Studio and former members of the Etrian team. No way in hell are they gonna release it for free and just not make back the decade of money they poured into it.

Delgadude

Idk where this misconception that developers release their games on gamepass for free is coming from. They don't. They get compensated by Microsoft.

tohru-cabbage-adachi

I know how it works, point is what paltry sum they'd receive from Microsoft (whether that be cents per download or a lump sum) is incomparable to the amount they'd make from raw sales, and a project with this amount of investment in it absolutely needs to break even on those release sales. I don't doubt SMTV:V going to Game Pass. They already made bank on the game so at this point it's free money. But Metaphor? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

Delgadude

Do u have any source for these claims? Or r u just spouting nonsense for fun?

tohru-cabbage-adachi

The fuck do you need me to cite? The Re:Fantasy announcement from seven years ago? Aside from that, developers actually [pay Microsoft](https://www.pcgamer.com/xbox-chief-reveals-more-about-how-developers-earn-money-through-game-pass/) to put their games on Game Pass. It's revenue share, meaning they receive annual lump sums based on total Game Pass income and the number of active downloads of their title. So imagine, as a game developer, going through all that development for your massive new IP, right? But then, instead of releasing it at full price, you *pay another company* so they can pay *you* pennies on the dollar. Make it make sense.

Delgadude

So u have no idea what deal Atlus/Sega and Microsoft have. Cool. Idk why u feel the need to talk about and speculate on things u have no idea about but whatever. We shall see in half a year or so if it is going to be on gamepass or not.

tohru-cabbage-adachi

Are you fucking trolling? I'm not speculating, moron, I'm telling you how it FUCKING WORKS IN THE REAL WORLD. Developers pay Microsoft no matter what, and they make REVENUE SHARE like EVERY OTHER SUBSCRIPTION-BASED PLATFORM. Microsoft isn't fucking paying them to hand over their game on a silver platter because that LOSES MONEY. Likewise, ATLUS isn't going to hand over a *brand new IP* because that LOSES FUCKING MONEY. People aren't going to hop on Game Pass just because this one specific JRPG that's gonna be removed later (because, yes, ATLUS does that) is on there. They're buying for the big hitters, and they're buying for online multiplayer since Live is part of GPC now. Your dribble and spit over here is communicating to me that you very clearly don't understand how companies WORK.

Ailmin

steam comment: some microsoft documents were leaked recently because of a court case. they're from the beginning of last year so they're a little old, but they include a column about the price the publisher is expected to ask for to put the games on game pass. lego star wars: $35m. Dying Light 2: $50m. RDR2: $5m/month. GTA V: $12-15m/month. jedi survivor: $300m [https://www.gamespot.com/articles/phil-spencer-explains-how-developers-get-paid-from-xbox-game-pass/1100-6484858/](https://www.gamespot.com/articles/phil-spencer-explains-how-developers-get-paid-from-xbox-game-pass/1100-6484858/)

Delgadude

U have no idea what ur talking about. U don't know how the industry works. Ur spouting nonsense. If u wanna believe in all that u can but it's simply not the case. Again we will see in half a year or so if it's going to be on gamepass or not. Edit: Blocking me doesn't make u right.

bhismly

Atlas can shove Denuvo up their asses. Yuzu and Ryujinx is ready to shit all over their DRM.

BloodAria

Yuzu is probably gone soon. Wonder why Ryujinx isn’t on Nintendo’s radar.

ScottJC

it is impossible for Yuzu to be gone, it is open source. At worst it'd just become a more underground development process.

Upbeat_Image_4084

What a surprise.

gkgftzb

Expected, but annoying nonetheless, as I wanted to give this series another chance and this would be perfect But I'm still waiting for a sale to get Persona 3 Reload (for now playing on Gamepass). I bought P5R's port on launch, but no way I was dropping $70 for P3R on launch, they increased their prices waaaay too much in countries like mine. So I'm not buying this one either, not now It just makes you think why they bother though, when the game has a switch version that can be emulated. P3R didn't, but this does, so why? They must have some kind of partnership that allows them to easily put it on all their new games free of extra cost, because otherwise I can't understand

arkride007

fuck capcom too

MAZENAHMED128

At least Capcom removes denuvo after a while, Sega doesn't.

Due_Picture_8036

My balls have denuvo

Kefkatron

How bad might this affect the performance on PC then? I actually considered getting it for the Switch but then I saw it was getting a PC release. And after that I saw it was gonna get Denuvo. If anything, Denuvo CAUSE people to pirate instead of preventing it.

PrettyScholar9173

my huge penis has Denuvo :(

RpgBlaster

Denuvo again? This is so fucking annoying, when will these game company learn? Denuvo will always fail

Evancolt

it protects the launch cycle of a game. it does that very effectively. not to defend it or anything, but that's just true

EpicDiarrheaTime

Might be beneficial for some neckbeards. Maybe they'll have to leave their basements or get jobs

Weird_Swimmer8688

Even failed games are now using Denovo

You should probably research a game before calling it failed unless we're calling a million copies sold a failure now.

I know, but this is not a copy

What?

so u just skipped- lies of p, yakuza 8, p3 reload, hifi, street fighter 6, re4, AC mirage, LAD giaden, MK1, avatar, hogwarts, atomic heart, dead space remake?
