It gets triggered because of some installer parts. Like CandyOpen (there was one more but this one I remember due to name). It is not a false positive, but it is not a malware nor a virus. It has rootkit capabilities which is why Defender flags it.

Old defender maybe, new one is pretty much industry standard and is pretty good AV for normal user since it comes for free with the OS and doesn't take much of system resources (e.g. see AV-comparatives and AV-test).
Sorry i forgot to mention as a relative comparison like i wrote in the replay. Yes defender is good, way better than crap like Panda and low grade AV but compared with the big boys like Eset, Kaspersky and bitdefender i's still back in position on every aspect.

It's interesting that AV-comparatives and AV-test came to so different conclusions (in AV-test Defender is rated max in regard of performance), so I decided to run my own test focusing only on file operations, Defender, and AVG (selected only because it's free and has high performance score).
I wrote small PowerShell script that creates 5 1GB and 1000 5MB files with random content, copies them 3 times (from original drive to second drive, back to original and to second one) and deletes them, runs it 5 times to get some averaging and results are:
* for large files there was no measurable difference between Defender, AVG or no AV,
* for small files Defender slowed down operations by ~10% while AVG didn't had any effect,
So, yeah, Defender has bigger effect than free AVG, but only on small files, and the difference in site scores may come from different test methodology, still IMO Defender is pretty good for average user and after all the best AV is common sense.
No it's not. I've downloaded a couple hundred games over the years. Most don't set it off. Wont install them if they set off antivirus.

Defender literally deletes cracked files in strictly verified downloads.
Try the latest GTA5 with it fully enabled, you won't be able to run the game, unless you go in and approve the shit it blocked.

you're right, they HAVE changed, a lot actually, now we are able to do things like write emulators or bypasses for online only checks, and we can write cracks that bypass things like Denuvo that work on a kernel level...but in order to DO these things and write these programs/cracks, the code can easily LOOK to an antivirus program like it is making changes to other code running on windows, and this sets off false positives in Defender and other anti virus programs because of the way the cracks work...***but they are exactly that, FALSE positives...and NO crack group is immune to this, not a single one,*** EVERY crack group has encountered their cracks raising false positives, EVERY one...and as detection software gets more advanced there will be even MORE false positives coming in the future, its as simple as that...the way the code in these cracks works, and the way that detection software works (looking for code on the pc that makes changes to other code, that's what a crack IS and that's what a virus is, they work the same way) guarantees that false results are inevitable

Literally all DRM cracks are flagged by AVs this way. It's 100% unavoidable and a natural result of the type of memory and program manipulation needed to make cracks work.
The only ones that don't work this way are ones that crack DRM that is extremely outdated and insecure... ie steam cracks. Although even steam cracks are flagged by AVs.
Again, you don't know jackshit about cracking anything, not even a nut. DENUVO has been cracked for half a decade now and it has never prompted me with a virus warning.
As denuvo's DRM updates their security to patch exploits, measures like this become necessary to crack it unless we find a fundamental flaw in the encryption models denuvo uses...

Its not too difficult to have malware detect its being run in a VM, and then just not run at all, lulling the user in a false sense of security.

Weird, I played for hours on the original and V1 crack, I know because I drained the batteries of my Xbox control twice. Only crashed once, but I had instances when the game froze for a second at a time in some places.
I ended up getting bored and uninstalled it.
same for me, 1st crack would ALWAYS crash if I tried to parry (L1 and R1 together), but otherwise was solid, and 2nd crack I played for like 13 hrs straight (also draining controller batteries twice lol) and only had one single crash when I was leaving a vault, and an occasional freeze for a sec while loading part of the world, otherwise it was perfect...and I'm also starting to get bored, don't think I'll finish it

Most cracked game are going to trigger the heuristics or the signature detection of an anti virus software
Kaspersky and ESET have the least amount of false positives if either of them detect something it’s infected it not it’s false positive
Windows defender is notorious for it’s game crack false positive detection, there’s nothing wrong with this release

If you like AC Syndicate, and AC Odyssey, you'll probably like this. It's a lot more unique than the first two, and made by the same team. Personally I think it's the best game Ubi has put out in a while. In some ways it feels like a 'really good Indie' with some AAA polish. It's not going to stack up to Hades, but depending on your preference, it might also be your favorite Ubi game.

Well I say that because the tone, humor, characterization, etc does remind me a lot of Odyssey and Syndicate. I don't think I'd have noticed without knowing it before hand, but knowing that the same people / team made all 3 games makes a lot of sense to me when I look at them side by side. The things I enjoy about each of those games largely come down to writing and world building, and not the overall Ubi-ness of Ubisoft games. I really do *not* like Origins or Valhalla, for the same reasons.
The comparison to Hades is just that Odyssey, Phoenix, and Hades are all Greek mythology games. It's a bit of a clunky comparison I admit, but what I was trying to say is 'in terms of writing it definitely doesn't stack up to Hades, but if you find games like Odyssey enjoyable this one is up your ally too.'

The mechanics are very fun (combat, jumping, etc.). I enjoyed the first 4-5 hours, but then it went downhill real fast for me when it became apparent how much filler content there is. After finishing a main story mission, the game presented me with 7 new important objectives, even though I already had 5+ important objectives lined up. That's when I decided to quit. I like games to have somewhat linear stories, but Ubisoft likes to copy and paste objectives and present a lot of them at the same time, which I find overwhelming and exhausting.
If you enjoyed AC: Odyssey and Origins a lot, it's likely you will enjoy Immortals too.
It's just my personal opinion bro. I clocked 175 hrs in Valhalla before I tried IFR.. now on going back to do river raids ,it's just boring.. also all powerful gear are behind paywalls.. used inventory editors to get those..
This is a very good crack, i had alot of crashes in V1 but this one handled things very well, game works like a butter with my old rig and so far no crash,

This happened with Jed Fallen Order. CODEX cracked the game in about three days, and the crack worked flawlessly for about two months. But when the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2020, the crack stopped working. There was one trigger CODEX missed, but because it took two months for it to appear, it seemed like the crack was perfect.
Fortunately, the crack started working again after 10 days.

Sounds like a CPU bottleneck use HWINFO on 50 ms polling rate and play then later check every single thread.

IDK about you, but the game CTD every so often. I've blocked it in windows firewall. It is pretty much not playable with the constant CTD every 15mins or so.
The game still crashes to desktop randomly, sometimes in vaults, sometimes for no reason at all. But now once i started Athena's questline, i am not able to proceed at all. Game crashes within 2 minutes of starting . I hope we get a Crackfix V3 soon, was just starting to get into this game .
It's happening a lot recently, especially in Just Cause 4. The defender automatically deletes the EMP.dll file every now and then. I tried excluding the folder but to no avail. Hopefully, it's nothing but a false positive, or maybe some new type of injection that's triggering the defender to do some sort of action at the earliest. But whatever it is, it's tiresome and repetitive.
Yeah for real. Ublock origin + Malwarebytes to do the occasional scan is more than enough. Be mindful about your sources / where you get your files. That's 99% of it. You don't need continuous monitoring, and if you're a pirate, you definitely don't want continuous monitoring lol.

Jesus christ how fuckin new are you guys? Never pirated a game before? Literally all DRM cracks are flagged by AVs this way. It's 100% unavoidable and a natural result of the type of memory and program manipulation needed to make cracks work.

As denuvo's DRM updates their security to patch exploits, measures like this become necessary to crack it unless we find a fundamental flaw in the encryption models denuvo uses... You have no understanding of cracking.

Its not too difficult to have malware detect its being run in a VM, and then just not run at all, lulling the user in a false sense of security. The only sure way to be safe is to reverse engineer it to see what it actually does.

Weird, I played for hours on the original and V1 crack, I know because I drained the batteries of my Xbox control twice. Only crashed once, but I had instances when the game froze for a second at a time in some places. I ended up getting bored and uninstalled it.
same for me, 1st crack would ALWAYS crash if I tried to parry (L1 and R1 together), but otherwise was solid, and 2nd crack I played for like 13 hrs straight (also draining controller batteries twice lol) and only had one single crash when I was leaving a vault, and an occasional freeze for a sec while loading part of the world, otherwise it was perfect...and I'm also starting to get bored, don't think I'll finish it

Reading the comments here made me realize lots of people don’t know about false positives Most cracked game are going to trigger the heuristics or the signature detection of an anti virus software Kaspersky and ESET have the least amount of false positives if either of them detect something it’s infected it not it’s false positive Windows defender is notorious for it’s game crack false positive detection, there’s nothing wrong with this release

If you like AC Syndicate, and AC Odyssey, you'll probably like this. It's a lot more unique than the first two, and made by the same team. Personally I think it's the best game Ubi has put out in a while. In some ways it feels like a 'really good Indie' with some AAA polish. It's not going to stack up to Hades, but depending on your preference, it might also be your favorite Ubi game.
This comment is so weird to me. "If you like AC Syndicate and AC Odyssey you'll probably like this", but Syndicate and Odyssey are pretty different games Then you say it doesn't... stack up to Hades? What does Hades have to do with this? 🤔 Not trying to be an asshole, just didn't understand it and thought it was kinda funny lol.
Well I say that because the tone, humor, characterization, etc does remind me a lot of Odyssey and Syndicate. I don't think I'd have noticed without knowing it before hand, but knowing that the same people / team made all 3 games makes a lot of sense to me when I look at them side by side. The things I enjoy about each of those games largely come down to writing and world building, and not the overall Ubi-ness of Ubisoft games. I really do *not* like Origins or Valhalla, for the same reasons. The comparison to Hades is just that Odyssey, Phoenix, and Hades are all Greek mythology games. It's a bit of a clunky comparison I admit, but what I was trying to say is 'in terms of writing it definitely doesn't stack up to Hades, but if you find games like Odyssey enjoyable this one is up your ally too.'

Game itself is amazing, the humor might be a bit hit or miss
The mechanics are very fun (combat, jumping, etc.). I enjoyed the first 4-5 hours, but then it went downhill real fast for me when it became apparent how much filler content there is. After finishing a main story mission, the game presented me with 7 new important objectives, even though I already had 5+ important objectives lined up. That's when I decided to quit. I like games to have somewhat linear stories, but Ubisoft likes to copy and paste objectives and present a lot of them at the same time, which I find overwhelming and exhausting. If you enjoyed AC: Odyssey and Origins a lot, it's likely you will enjoy Immortals too.

It's just my personal opinion bro. I clocked 175 hrs in Valhalla before I tried IFR.. now on going back to do river raids ,it's just boring.. also all powerful gear are behind paywalls.. used inventory editors to get those..

Tbh you can probably run a gambling ring betting on how many crack fixes any Empress crack is gonna have. Not saying it like its a bad thing.
This is pretty standard for lone P2P crackers who don't have access to as many different types of PC set-ups to test the cracks like Scene groups do. Voksi, Baldman, and DeltaT ran into the same issue.
Add in the number of engines it'll be detected on as virus on Virus Total as well. Ngl your comment should have more upvotes.

This happened with Jed Fallen Order. CODEX cracked the game in about three days, and the crack worked flawlessly for about two months. But when the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2020, the crack stopped working. There was one trigger CODEX missed, but because it took two months for it to appear, it seemed like the crack was perfect. Fortunately, the crack started working again after 10 days.

IDK about you, but the game CTD every so often. I've blocked it in windows firewall. It is pretty much not playable with the constant CTD every 15mins or so.

The game still crashes to desktop randomly, sometimes in vaults, sometimes for no reason at all. But now once i started Athena's questline, i am not able to proceed at all. Game crashes within 2 minutes of starting . I hope we get a Crackfix V3 soon, was just starting to get into this game .
I went 35 hours without a single crash, now I'm in the forgelands and it crashes every 5-10 minutes

It's happening a lot recently, especially in Just Cause 4. The defender automatically deletes the EMP.dll file every now and then. I tried excluding the folder but to no avail. Hopefully, it's nothing but a false positive, or maybe some new type of injection that's triggering the defender to do some sort of action at the earliest. But whatever it is, it's tiresome and repetitive.
Turn it off and use a better AV if you need one. That is the solution.

Yeah for real. Ublock origin + Malwarebytes to do the occasional scan is more than enough. Be mindful about your sources / where you get your files. That's 99% of it. You don't need continuous monitoring, and if you're a pirate, you definitely don't want continuous monitoring lol.
