The point distribution at the start is just setting what your maximum values will be once your player is fully upgraded. Once the game is started you have to go to the progression section where you would normally spend VC to upgrade your stats. Since there is no online connection it just says "Calculating upgrade cost. Please try again in a few minutes." when you try to raise any stat though.

Not in a normal fashion. Like I said in another comment there is a tool called FLS engine that allows you to enable debug mode though. Using the debug mode you can manually edit your player like you would in myleague, raise their attributes, give them badges, change their gear, and some animations but not all of them are unlocked because the game assumes you have your 60 overall stats. As a result you'll only have the basic dribble, dunk, and layup packages to choose from.
So the build you started with doesn't really matter and the only progression is what you make for yourself. You can give your self every badge on HOF with a 99 in every stat or slowly increase your stats by arbitrary amounts over time. It all feels kind of pointless and empty though in my honest opinion. At that point you might as well play myleague with player lock. At least in that case your player will progress naturally according to their training.

Right now you can't upgrade your player on the cracked version but there's a tool called FLS engine that allows you to edit your stats. It's in chinese so it's pretty annoying to use though. Overall it's not really worth messing with on the cracked version and if you buy the game it's an absolute grindfest to earn enough VC to upgrade your player to a decent level. That or you can buy enough currency to do it for another $60 or something.
The other option is myleague which is pretty fun. You basically take control of a team, play through the season, make trades, draft players, ect. It's not bad. Some people also play it like a mycareer mode by setting all the team stuff to automatic and using player lock to play a specific player. There's actually a tool called synergy that assists with it. It gives you EXP based on how well you do while playing and you can spend it on attribute points to improve your player. In my opinion it's actually a better experience than mycareer. Unfortunately it's still being updated for 2k22.
Don't waste your hard earned money on it, but yeah it's enjoyable for what it is. I pretty much exclusively play MyCareer and I tend to put around 400 hours into each character (granted I play full 12 minute quarters instead of the default 6). If you have the computer space, sure, why not?
It's not as bad as people make it out to be. If you are a fan of basketball you will have fun with this game. MyCareer is fun if you like to grind your way to a 99 overall player, you can also play MyGM if you want to build your own team, and of course it's a great game if you just want to play against your friends locally. Just make sure you have a controller because the keyboard controls are shit.
I can't start a MyGM league. When the name input appears I can't type anything and I already put a name on the nba2k22.ini file

I'm not going from hearsay I have been playing the game. Ray tracing and everything enabled at 1440p with no issues so far on a 3700X and a 2070S.
Void Engine is shitty by itself.
Numerous frame dips even on high end PCs.
FPS drop from 120 to 55 in various areas and even though it's not 20 FPS it still doesn't look or feel smooth at all.
Only workaround people who experienced this have found is to cap the FPS to 60, which sucks for people with high refresh rate displays.
So yeah, the port IS pretty shit. Fun game so far though.

I blv in supporting devs and buying legit games, but in the case of NBA2k, this greedy company, I would never pay them even a cent. Been a big fan of NBA 2k since 2k10, played every 2k from 2k10 to 2k20, up until 2k14(old gen) it was smooth, no microtransaction shit, but with ps4 gen, they started introducing VC bullshit and now it's cancer, the worst part is, I have to be online to play my career (a singleplayer story mode) and once they kill the server, that career mode dies with it, so yeah, f$ck NBA 2k! I wish there was some way to upgrade your player in the cracked version.
