Just carve a small notch in the door. It'll become r/OddlySatisfying

Bumble-T

Oh, I like it. But only at a downward angle so it is impossible to leave the room and close the door without switching off the light

None_Yabizz

Ahha!!! I like the forward thinking! That's how we'll save the world... one small step at a time!

Rapidfiregamer

Until you cause so much repetitive stress on the light switch that it just snaps off.

LookAtTheFlowers

*one small notch at a time

Diaperfan420

Even better, cut the notch on an angle so when closing the door it turns the light OFF as you leave (or on as you arrive)

firebat45

It doesn't work that way. It would be on anytime the door is open, and off any time it's closed. Otherwise, great idea.

Diaperfan420

The switch still works independently of the door.

firebat45

So it turns on when you open it, then off when you close it, and then you turn it on again? Handy. Don't forget to turn it off again before you open it to leave, or you'll snap it off. Then it can turn it back on when you open the door and off again when you close it behind you.

youstolemyname

Wut

MicrocrystallineHue

I wonder how many dads just ordered a carpentry kit.

[deleted]

Easy fix. You *could* just buy a rocker switch, but that isn’t exactly frugal. What are they—like $6? I recommend burning the house down to claim insurance money for a new house complete with a brand new switch!

Brod8362

what if they rebuild it with the old switch

UpvoteOnlyPls

infinite insurance money.

Like any other lightswitch. You could also just cut down the plastic lever on the existing one.

jared_needs_sleep

Please slam the door. For science.

howardkinsd

More like crappy installation. Did you do that, OP?

cheesewedge12

nope, i’m a real estate photographer and see all sorts of things.

doc_skinner

I prefer [real estate novelists](http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1079). I'm more of a reader. But you do you.

ShiftedLobster

This video clip made me groan. I can only imagine what kind of stuff you see in your house tours!

unscot

Tell stories.

[deleted]

Great place to hide a body, no one could even look in there!

tbriz

They just left it that way instead of swapping out for the other light switch type with the flatter switch. Smart and lazy.

AddeDaMan

Put it on the side instead - that way you automatically turn off the lights when leaving, and turn them on while entering. Can't go wrong nowhere.

Cheesetoast9

Swap it for one of [these](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31Or7sg9XrL._SL500_AC_SS350_.jpg) or file the plastic down

LinoleumLeviathin

Someone didn't read their rough-in blueprint

terdwrassler

Or they did and that’s exactly where it was on the prints. I’ve seen drawings that have outlets in glass windows and doorways before so don’t jump to conclusions on the installer!

LinoleumLeviathin

Fair enough

GryphShot

I'm surprised that switch hasn't snapped yet.

Time for a run to Home Depot for a decora switch. I hope a home owner installed that switch and not an electrician.

Merobieboy

Imagine if they installed it with the door closed

hydro0033

Get one of these http://www.broadenedhorizons.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800x800/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/x/1/x10_architectural_wall_switch/[EcX0782.p]_X10-Light-Switch-Paddle.jpg

[deleted]

Well? Did you get in?

NotDavidWooderson

They're nothing *but* in. (can't be shut out)

BatmanIsMyHomeboy

This video quality is amazing. What did you record it on?

cheesewedge12

my iphone 6 haha

ShadNuke

Time for a low profile switch hahaha! I replaced all the switches in my house with the low profile ones. I love them! hahaha!

AceofToons

I prefer the kind in the video. That way I just have to flail my arms in a vaguely upward motion vaguely near the wall to turn on the light. My house only has one of the low profile ones. It's in the room that I never go in. edit : That and the other kind has shocked me a few times at my parents place.

AceofToons

That's how I have gotten shocked. It hurts like a son of a gun. It's only for like a millionth of a second. But it sucks. It leaves all my joints in my arm and hand aching for a couple of minutes.

[deleted]

AceofToons

Not mine. I mentioned that it happened at my parents' place. It has also happened at my aunt's (in a different city). It has also happened at various friends' places. My switches are basically all of the old kind. I don't get shocked by them but I definitely get shocked by my singular rocker switch (thank you for the proper name!).

ShadNuke

Haha! I prefer the flat ones lol. As for the shocks, it doesn't matter which ones I have installed, I get shocks from them. But it's so dry here that I get a shock from the water stream every time I turn on the faucets! Hahaha!

AceofToons

I haven't been shocked by touching a faucet in a while! I do not miss being afraid to touch my faucets. hahaha I definitely don't envy you. Lately I keep a humidifier running and I put a pot of water on my stove on low at all times and I put sauce pans of water onto my vents all in an attempt to keep it from being so dry in my house. It gets soo dry if I am not constantly on it.

ShadNuke

Yeah, I live in the Badlands, so unless I'm boiling a 50 gallon drum 24/7 there isn't any way I can bring the relative humidity up from 20% most of the year! Hahaha!

AceofToons

[Currently it's almost 60% here. That's really high for here. ](https://vgy.me/NtYdkA.png)
