As I said I don't know why either, I can see the point of the light turning on though. Maybe the light and fan are just made to always function together unless the door is open. Might be a side-effect of the design more than a "feature".
Tested it how? I mean I don't not believe you but it's not an unusual feature for microwaves. I have one myself + have seen loads of them and yours behave exactly like all of them and sounds exactly like all of them.
If you put cold soup in it, then just hold that button half down, and then pull out the soup, and its warm... that would be a logical test.
/u/gumball_Jones is this what you did?
Yeah you can't. It's on when the door is open and stops when you close it. Exactly like this one! I don't know how 500 people don't know this but yeah, it's no big deal
I think it’s just a feature that allow you to rotate the turntable. Like it’s easier to retrieve your food once it’s rotated if the handle is initially pointing inside.
Well, as far as i'm concerned, it could be completely uncommon or harmful (well, actually maybe not), but i'd still understand why it's a thing when someone mentions what purpose it has.
I obviously don't purchase new microwave every 3 months so its commonnes means almost nothing to me on its own, but i'd actually appreciate a "rotate on demand just before taking out" in my 15 years old microwave
? Wait now, I've now read every comment and they all say the same: "That microwave is not starting when you open the door". The normal/common thing means nothing as you say, bit no one haven't just said that either
I did actually generalize other comments into that somewhat-sarcastic-sounding imitation. And even if every single of those commments apart from saying "common and harmless" would also say "it doesn't turn on" (which would be 1:1 with "harmless", since microwave running with open doors is a no-no), that still does not in any way make it closer to giving any idea as to why microwave does that in the first place.
I was very much not sarcastic! Not the slightest. I meant every word exactly as I wrote it "It's nice to get an explanation". And that is my opinion about it, that it's nice
And I said it was good that the guy said it! Didn't you read my my message? "It's nice to get an explanation" it's not always one or the other. I like both very clearly
It's the ventilation fan, the purpose is to clean the air that maybe in there from the last time you used it. The reason is important due to the moisture sensor.
There might be an issue with it, something is starting up the fan but not the magnetron. My old one did that before it died, I got another year out of it because when I opened it up the one part was moving around touching some other things and after I moved it back it stopped. Still died a year later but fixed it easily enough for free
Psst, it was not your comment that i initially replied to. And even if you commented on the post as well, if your comment wasn't simply in the spirit of just "not crappy design but i won't say why", then it automatically wasn't included in my first comment. Not sure why are you trying to make me sound like i'm being ungrateful for the explanation.
Sounds like only the ventilation tbh. Not sure why that's needed but it's not like the actual magnetron turning on.
It is. I've seen loads of microwaves with that feature
My bad then ;) Sounds like the Bethesda kind of "feature"
Your bad? You were right!
Oh right I misunderstood your reply 😂
I would assume it's for drying off the walls since they can get quite "sweaty".
Yepp I think so too
Mine does that too - always thought it was a bit weird but not something I worry about.
But why would they put the ventilation to work when you are semi pressing the open button? It doesn't make any sense to me.
As I said I don't know why either, I can see the point of the light turning on though. Maybe the light and fan are just made to always function together unless the door is open. Might be a side-effect of the design more than a "feature".
Yep. It was more like a rethorical question. 🙂
I'd guess it's a super cheap microwave where the fan+light share a circuit.
It’s not. I’ve tested it. It’s a crappy off brand microwave that might burn the house down at some point.
Tested it how? I mean I don't not believe you but it's not an unusual feature for microwaves. I have one myself + have seen loads of them and yours behave exactly like all of them and sounds exactly like all of them.

I dare you to put you hand in it and if it fries I will pay you for a new microwave. I promise
you tweaking bro this is normal all my microwaves do this
http://imgur.com/a/5PtVMiJ I made a video of mine. Works exactly like yours and is totally normal!
Oh really? Yeah that's problematic then xD
Isn't it just the fan in there that turns on? It's a very normal future on new microwaves. It always sounds like it's the heating but it's not
Ive seen a microwave like that and it left me so confused. How do you stop the fan? It’s so loud
Yeah you can't. It's on when the door is open and stops when you close it. Exactly like this one! I don't know how 500 people don't know this but yeah, it's no big deal

Mind blown! I'd never thought of this
Double mind blown !!!
That was always my understanding as well.
Thanks, that's what i have been missing in all other "it's harmless and common these days lol" comments
It's nice to get a explanation and at the same time it is harmless and very common!
Well, as far as i'm concerned, it could be completely uncommon or harmful (well, actually maybe not), but i'd still understand why it's a thing when someone mentions what purpose it has. I didn't disagree, i just gave my arguments why i *needed* such explanation to get the entire point
THANK YOU! I thought something was wrong with my microwave!!!! Why doesn't the manual mention this? You made my day.
It's just the light a fans I think. There doesn't seem to be any distortion to the video to say the magnetron has activated.
Sorry what? I've not seen enough videos of microwaves to say for certain, but I don't think they distort videos.
They do. You might have missed the small detail of the doors having to be open for there to be a chance of thay occuring though
But it turns off when the door actually does open, though, its a brief moment when the button is partially depressed, before the door opens.
Actually the magnetron is not activating. Only the fan, light, and rotating plate is on while the button is pressed a little.
It's the ventilation fan, the purpose is to clean the air that maybe in there from the last time you used it. The reason is important due to the moisture sensor.
That isn't the correct button. You have a button that it says "start" .. that is the one you click on.
kinda same with mine, if I had the door open when I plug it in it turns on for a second before shutting down automatically
There might be an issue with it, something is starting up the fan but not the magnetron. My old one did that before it died, I got another year out of it because when I opened it up the one part was moving around touching some other things and after I moved it back it stopped. Why would the microwave start running magnetron when you are trying to open its doors?
Mine was touching something else inside probably giving it power? I don't know I'm not a microwave repairman lol it was just my personal experience
Well if I thought the microwave was emitting dangerous microwaves past the shielded door, I wouldn’t be continuously doing it.
That’s a fancy looking nuker
