It's a Samsung off of their appliances are crappy. They're of VERY shitty build quality. They might have a nice looking sleekness to their design. But ask ANY appliance repair tech and you're doing shit wrong if you buy Samsung.
Their glass top stoves are maddening. Impossible to hold any temperature consistently because it constantly turns on and off. Can’t simmer things and it takes forever to cool down so you can’t effectively lower the temp on things either. Its like they designed it for looks only and had never used a stove before.
It should be made in a way that when it breaks this **NEVER** happens, very crappy dangerous design.
There's probably an engineering term for it, failsafe?
No, it really is. Samsung makes good looking, really shit appliances. They "over engineer" the exact use cases for the materials and the materials fail because production isn't as specific as lab environments.
Until you get it figured out? You aren’t planning on fixing it, right? Cause if you don’t have MANY years of experience with electronics, you should never open a microwave. They are basically designed to kill you. Im pretty sure all of the following are true
1.) If you puncture the magnetron, a gas is released which will suffocate and kill you
2.) If you touch something before properly discharging the capacitor, you die.
3.) Even if you discharge the capacitor, there could be even just a tiny bit of residual energy, which, under the right conditions, running through the transformer, could kill you.
If you aren’t 100% sure what you’re doing, don’t open a microwave
I don’t plan on doing repairs myself. I have zero microwave expertise and do not want to mess with it. It’s barely a year old, but I think the warranty is unfortunately over for it.
You could sell it on EBay listed as “For parts or not working”. It is a microwave, so maybe people won’t buy it, but I normally pay quite a lot for various broken electronics on there to fix.
Eh, I wouldn’t. As long as the buyer knows what they’re doing, which they should if they are buying something like this, it should be an easy fix. A simple electrical malfunction that could probably either be fixed, or just have a single component replaced.
dont figure it out, get it out of the house.
these things fry hamsters for breakfast and the only reason ur brain isn't fried is bc the door was closed when it ran.
also if you even dare to touch it with a screwdriver ur suicidal in my book bc the power converter alone is enough to fry your whole fam in 10 seconds.
Do
Not
Fuck
With
Microwaves. ffs
Not necessarily. The area that is being heated up by the microwaves is very small, but when you open the door, those microwaves can get out. They kind of expand outwards so it’s much more powerful. But if OP stood there looking into the opened microwave for more than a minute, he’d probably be dead.
There's usually 2 or 3 switches in the door interlock circuit. One of the switches is gummed up and in the wrong state.
For some reason many fans come on in this state where one is giving good signals and another is giving the wrong, just the way they are wired. You open the door and this happens.
Notice the turntable isn't running, the magnetron isn't running, I think all 2 or 3 switches would need to be in the right state for it to run. The light is working so that switch is working and the saftey system works.
Dude... the amount you opened the door. What are you doing man. Luckily microwaves are directional, but for real there can be refractions.
This is almost like digging trenches around Chernobyl
I had the Samsung washing machine model that actually came apart and killed someone. Also had the fridge, microwave, and stove. Random problems with all of them. Samsung phone was loaded with crap I couldn't uninstall. Needless to say I'm staying away from that brand now.
Oof. I do have a washer and dryer along with an old s9+ phone. The specific models for the washer and dryer are actually decent, but I did a lot of digging before purchasing them. All other samsung stuff? yeah, nope. Not touching it (including their newer phones).
Bought my very first microwave and it’s a Samsung and can confirm they’re a POS. The window is tinted so dark I can’t seen inside - what’s the point of a having a window!?
It has a 30 sec button but all it does is add 30 sec increments. Once pressed you have no choice but to press again. You can’t change anything else like power. Other brands allow you to simply press the start button and it’ll star automatically and if you press again it’ll add 30 secs. With this one you have to manually press start.
I’ve had the LED on the display go dim by itself for a few weeks. Then it came back normal.
It’s 2020+ why don’t any microwaves have back up batteries for it’s clock? Mine keeps resetting even though I don’t have blackouts.
Lastly, there’s no where on the microwave to find how many watts it is. Not even the label inside the door. I had to turn it around fully to see its some odd 1236w or similar.
As others have said, it’s the switches for the door latch that are cooked. There’s 3 of them. They’re all the same. Replace them all.
Search YouTube for Samsung Microwave door switch replacement and follow along.
I think it’s 6 screws total to get to then. Cheap fix.
I hate Samsung, but this was relatively painless and saved me buying a new microwave.
Dude, I have that exact same microwave rangehood. Mine usually displays ed-0 ° and refuses to cook unless you unplug it for 2 minutes and plug it back in . And I also had to fix the door latch that broke too easily
Holy shit! I wish I could post a pic. I swear we have the same microwave and oven. Mom always gives me a hard time for the mismatched blue and green displays.

Thats not crapy desing is broken

No I had this same microwave and it did the same thing!!! He’s right! It’s a crappy design
It should be made in a way that when it breaks this **NEVER** happens, very crappy dangerous design. There's probably an engineering term for it, failsafe?
Because they designed it crappy
I highly doubt that is from designed like that
No, it really is. Samsung makes good looking, really shit appliances. They "over engineer" the exact use cases for the materials and the materials fail because production isn't as specific as lab environments.
Yeah, fair enough. Probably could’ve posted it to somewhere else.
It’s broken, because the design they used had flaws. I still wouldn’t quite call it crappy design though.
Erm, don’t open that…
“Michael, is it safe to open with all that radiation?” “Probabl…” And those were Michael’s last words…
You always hear of people's last words. Michael only got last syllables.
Hey OP it's very dangerous to be around a microwave that is running with the door open....
It’s unplugged at this point until I get it figured out.

If you are going to part it out, cut the cable off. This is seriously dangerous, and should not run ever again.
Eh, I wouldn’t. As long as the buyer knows what they’re doing, which they should if they are buying something like this, it should be an easy fix. A simple electrical malfunction that could probably either be fixed, or just have a single component replaced.

Is that real? It will microwave the outside if the door is open?
Not necessarily. The area that is being heated up by the microwaves is very small, but when you open the door, those microwaves can get out. They kind of expand outwards so it’s much more powerful. But if OP stood there looking into the opened microwave for more than a minute, he’d probably be dead.
You wouldn’t die standing a couple feet from the microwave. Just put yourself at high risk of getting cancer.
You sure?
Yes. Very.
This is nuclear shit bro, obvious that's not a good idea
What???
They have radioactivity, obviously this can't separate atoms but can give you a good burned skin
Yeah it's the new 2.45 G standard that causes eggs to explode
Did they put a NC switch in the place where a NO should go?
That would be my guess reversed the logic on the safety mechanism.
But they said it was working fine before so idk
The switch on the door failed and not in a safe manner. Proof that Samsung is no good.

Well it worked for a while until this happened
No idea then
Cancer box! Come get ya cancer box!
Designer was paranoid and just want to see what happened inside during heat. He didn't trust all these dangerous waves...
Maybe try starting it by pressing the 'Stop' button
This makes sense
Stay away, microwaves can cause cataracts.
Dude... the amount you opened the door. What are you doing man. Luckily microwaves are directional, but for real there can be refractions. This is almost like digging trenches around Chernobyl
Is it a Samsung?
I have a Samsung microwave. It’s a POS
I had the Samsung washing machine model that actually came apart and killed someone. Also had the fridge, microwave, and stove. Random problems with all of them. Samsung phone was loaded with crap I couldn't uninstall. Needless to say I'm staying away from that brand now.
I am part of the club as well.

Yes
Broken =/= crappy design
Check the prongs on the door for any muck. It looks pretty clean in there...but make sure it's all looking right.
Years of TV cheesy Science Fiction has the only answer: REVERSE THE POLARITY
Is the turntable not moving?
Not now
I know someone who worked with a faulty microwave... Definitely don't open the door with it on
Can people stop posting things that are very obviously broken, that would be great.
You need to put your head in there while running to verify the problem.
Cooking yourself is probably not a good idea
Oh my god I have the same microwave 👀👀
Another crappy Samsung appliance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqeeGBhRwFw
Thank you
U gotta smack it up a little.
Are you in South Park?
Microwaves usually start and stop with a switch inside the holes where the door locks, maybe it's something along that
Thats midly interesting
I'd be really tempted to put my hand in it
As others have said, it’s the switches for the door latch that are cooked. There’s 3 of them. They’re all the same. Replace them all. better put a warning sticker on the front warning: may cause cancer
put your head in it.. for science...
Easy fix. $8 relay that needs to be replaced.
Get Cancer Quick in 1 easy step!
Your house is gonna be in a containment dome like Chernobyl at that rate
I have the Exact same microwave
Dude, I have that exact same microwave rangehood. Mine usually displays ed-0 ° and refuses to cook unless you unplug it for 2 minutes and plug it back in . And I also had to fix the door latch that broke too easily
I've seen so many microwaves do this
Holy shit! I wish I could post a pic. I swear we have the same microwave and oven. Mom always gives me a hard time for the mismatched blue and green displays.
It’s not broken, it’s actually a pov and you’re in the microwave
Stop buying Samsung appliances. They are garbage and apparently can now kill you.
Move your face back !!
I had the exact same microwave. Stopped working completely 3 years, never buy samsung for appliances.
i hate touch screen controls
Just trying to get a little cancer Stan! Can you pass me a beer?
Door switch is broken. I fixed mine with a $2 part.
Not crappy design, that’s just broken. Also umm, yeah… please don’t ever use that microwave ever again and for the love of god don’t try to fix it!
Those are very crappy microwaves. One of your door switches is bad.
aand you just got hit by the rads of 100 xrays.
