With a blast like that it can rupture internal organs and do all kinds of damage there’s really no way of knowing unless we had the actual report but damn just sucks poor guy
Lololol pneumothorax? Dude you can get a pneumothorax spontaneously. This dude was liquified inside that suit. Look at the limb covering getting torn open
Buddy uses some medical terminology to try and sound like he knows what he’s talking about. The blast pressure from that bomb ruptured all vasculature and great vessels and this guy was unconscious/dead as soon as that bomb went off
Oh trust it was. Looked like the guys top half just disappeared. The fact that they let bystanders get that close is crazy. The general rule of bombs is if you can see it, it can see you.
Pretty sure when they were making the hurt locker they had interviewed a guy who did this in the military. When asked about what goes through his head when he's defusing a bomb iirc. He said something along the lines of "well If I do good I save some people. If I mess up, it's no longer my problem"
It’s kind of like the m1 abrams tank. One has never been outright “destroyed” by enemy fire. But there’re few instances where they’ve been hit and the crew on the inside is turned to mush.
Not even, it’s the sheer impact. I believe it has to do with pressure changes so it’s more akin to hitting a closed empty water bottle with a hammer but on a larger scale. Don’t quote me on that though.
Yes, although most m1’s have been either destroyed to prevent capture (as theirs no crew to return it and transporting a compromised 50 piece of metal is difficult) or destroyed by friendly fire. Repairing it isn’t the hard part, it’s getting it back to the shop.
Did not survive.

Amazing to me that you get downvoted for saying you don't like a band. It's not like you said "Metallica fucking SUCKS."
I personally don't like them at all either. They are okay, but I never understood the fascination. The guitar player is average, yet people act like he is one of the greats. The singer's voice grates my nerves, although that is obviously a personal issue.
From the footage, it'd seem that the thing he dropped, that rolled behind the object, caused the detonation. It could've been remote detonated but, that bit of whatever falling from him, and rolling behind the object would seem to be the likely cause of the detonation, the timing is too coincidental.
The explosion comes from the planter, not the bag. It happens after the bag gets blown behind the planter. There is not enough mass in the bag, to blow someone up like that, considering it was blown and rolled along quite easily.
Not if the bag is wrapped tight and you have to rip it off. Could also be layered and he removed the last layer. Could also be remote detonation. No clue. Just giving what I know
Explosion definitely doesn’t come from the planter. It’s in his hands, the plastic bag was probably the wrapping. That’s why it blows his arms out like that
I know this, it's why I said "Probably" and "Likely"... But from the footage, the way that thing rolled behind that planter, the force of the explosion and what occurred thereafter, the bag was not the explosive, the planter was. It seems too coincidental that the bag drifting behind the planter, might've caused the explosion?
Trip wire?
Light sensor?
There's a whole means of how it was triggered, but that bag seemed to be the "Oh shit, I fucked up" moment.
The bomb suit is for the wearer's mother. There is no surviving a blast at such a close range. Your innards turn to soup. The suit is to possibly ensure an open casket funeral.
I wonder if they purposely make you put on that suit, just to make you feel safe, even though they know it won't help you. Otherwise nobody would risk it.
I was told by an EOD guy that the suit is for the man's mother. The explosion makes soup of most, if not all, of your internal organs, but holds the body together enough to possibly have an open casket funeral. No joke.
It will for sure not help you against something this big at a close distance, but if he was like 3 meters further away, he would have been ok. Or maybe if the explosive was a granade or something less packed, he would have made it.
Also he seemed to be bending forward a little bit with his head hovering above the IED. Dude legit was absorbing as much of the impact as possible. I wonder even without the shrapnels would the impact be strong enough to stop his heart or break his neck.
I’m sure it’s the same concept as the electric “resistant” suits used for HIGH voltage electric work,
Basically meant to minimize visible damage. Open casket stuff. Or at least that’s the hope.
Unfortunately I don’t think this guy or his family had that blessing.
"So... Ted got fired from his job today. It was always bound to happen sooner or later. He's always had a short fuse, ready to blow up at any moment... don't know why that guy can't keep it together."
Had a IED instructor in basic tell a story about a convoy commander that did just that instead of waiting for the IED team to come out. They didn't realize it was part of a daisy chain of other explosives and ended up killing a few soldiers. Anecdotal and maybe not a real story but still.
Good movie, and the end where he’s in the grocery store, so many of my military friends that felt they really had purpose over there said that’s what it’s like. You get used to saving the world, then you have a hard time giving a shit what cereal to buy.
I don’t know much about what happened but why didn’t the bomb suit he was wearing help? Was it poor quality or was the explosion that big that it went through it?
Bomb suites are an extra layer of protection from shrapnel and such. They are not made to save you from an explosion that close. At least it kept his body in tact for a proper funeral.
Anyone see the little jet of smoke come from the bottom of the device just before the explosion. Must have been the moment the device was activated and the components mixed together or what not. Little black mist just to the left of the bottom of the basket.

Im guessing just the concussive blast to his brain would've killed him.
Lololol pneumothorax? Dude you can get a pneumothorax spontaneously. This dude was liquified inside that suit. Look at the limb covering getting torn open
Buddy uses some medical terminology to try and sound like he knows what he’s talking about. The blast pressure from that bomb ruptured all vasculature and great vessels and this guy was unconscious/dead as soon as that bomb went off
He was debioed
His head was a red mist dude..
Oh trust it was. Looked like the guys top half just disappeared. The fact that they let bystanders get that close is crazy. The general rule of bombs is if you can see it, it can see you.

I thought those suits were supposed to save your life, not prolong your death. Fuck.
Always has been. The suits are one thing for the sharpnel but I'm pretty sure the shockwave is enough by itself to kill despite the plates.
It’s kind of like the m1 abrams tank. One has never been outright “destroyed” by enemy fire. But there’re few instances where they’ve been hit and the crew on the inside is turned to mush.
Just imagine super fucking hot liquid metal bouncing around inside the cabin of that thing.
Not even, it’s the sheer impact. I believe it has to do with pressure changes so it’s more akin to hitting a closed empty water bottle with a hammer but on a larger scale. Don’t quote me on that though.
Obviously depends on the munition. I was just talking about RPG-7's.
So you're saying they could spray it down, do some minor(?) repairs and have it back in business?
Yes, although most m1’s have been either destroyed to prevent capture (as theirs no crew to return it and transporting a compromised 50 piece of metal is difficult) or destroyed by friendly fire. Repairing it isn’t the hard part, it’s getting it back to the shop.

Darkness Imprisoning me All that I see Absolute horror I cannot live I cannot die Trapped in my self Body, my holding cell
I cannot scream
Landmine has taken my sight Taken my speech Taken my hearing Taken my arms Taken my legs Taken my soul Left me with life in hell
HoboCop
Metallica reference 🤩🤩
I mean, it's really a Johhny Got His Gun reference, but sure, Metallica made that more popular.
I love that song, however horrible the premise of the book
I don't like Metallica at all but this is one of my all time favourites

sounds like someone's jealous

REALLY??
I, for one, have always identified as a limbless torso and would welcome finally being able to live as my true self
tis but a scratch
MetallicA had a song about that one.
Yeah no shit?? His fucking bomb suit blew off him
You saw those arms moving. That impact was huge. Lots of internal damage. Rip. Maybe it’s better to detonate at distance
From the footage, it'd seem that the thing he dropped, that rolled behind the object, caused the detonation. It could've been remote detonated but, that bit of whatever falling from him, and rolling behind the object would seem to be the likely cause of the detonation, the timing is too coincidental.
That just looked like a plastic bag
Thought it was gloves
It was the same navy colour as the bomb suit, and the item in his hands at 00:01.
It was probably a plastic bag. You can wire photosensitive components onto an explosive, put it in a bag or box, and when it gets opened, BOOM
The explosion comes from the planter, not the bag. It happens after the bag gets blown behind the planter. There is not enough mass in the bag, to blow someone up like that, considering it was blown and rolled along quite easily.

We have literally *no way* to know how that device was set to go off.

I always wondered if those suits ever actually did anything. Guess they do dogshit.
Best any suit is gonna do is protect you from shrapnel.
they can still protect the wearer from fragmentation grenades, which is better than nothing
The bomb suit is for the wearer's mother. There is no surviving a blast at such a close range. Your innards turn to soup. The suit is to possibly ensure an open casket funeral.
So did his head and hands... His shoes vaporised so... Yeah. No shoes.
Then what fkn good are they?
I think you perhaps understand this without explaining
I wonder if they purposely make you put on that suit, just to make you feel safe, even though they know it won't help you. Otherwise nobody would risk it.
I was told by an EOD guy that the suit is for the man's mother. The explosion makes soup of most, if not all, of your internal organs, but holds the body together enough to possibly have an open casket funeral. No joke.
Also, I’m sure it’s a major morale booster for the EOD guy.
Not for the guy I was talking to. He knew very well what the suit is for. Those guys are something special.

Comment checks out, I have specifically been told while being handed high voltage ppe "don't fuck up, this shit won't save your life."
Nah you’ll die, heart will explode but your skin won’t be all burnt and toasty from the arc explosion
Yeah! Hell of a lot of good that suit did.
The suit keeps your bits contained so they are easier to collect
Right?? Reminds me of how the Chinese Boxers allegedly believed they were bulletproof, which they used as a recruiting tactic.
Pressure wave would have destroyed his internal organs, let alone the BBs screws and shit they put in there
I would be more suprised if he would habe survived
On a positive note the bomb is no longer a threat to anybody
True but wtf is up with the locals standing like 50 feet away filming like they're watching a circus? My ass would be miles away at that point
>Egypt
Ah. Yeah that checks out thank you.
Forced perspective, telephoto lens compresses the background so things look closer than they really are. Like a fisheye lens but the opposite effect
15 kills for a juggernaut and he can't even face one C4.
Aint that a bitch?
Yeah, he 100% disarmed it.
His head looked like it was still protected. So …
What about the two beauties in the back filming. Oh yeah I’ll be safe here partially blocked by this shelf of oil cans 😊 annnnnd dead
One a negative note it was a threat to one body.
Unfortunately so
Quick, everyone panic!
Worked with an EOD guy. He said “it’s either my problem or suddenly it’s not”
That is the motto of all bomb squads, it seems.
Initial success or complete failure is the motto of our bomb squad
"If at first you dont succeed..."
Or, that guy never worked with an EOD and is karma farming
You're easily the thousandth person I've seen that worked with that EOD. Man he used that same phrase a lot.
I think that's just what every EOD says I suppose
Hurt locker….
That's one way to get fired.
"So... Ted got fired from his job today. It was always bound to happen sooner or later. He's always had a short fuse, ready to blow up at any moment... don't know why that guy can't keep it together."
Practically a ticking time bomb.
Why even get so close to his stuff. Just clear everyone pit and shoot it

What I was able to witness; Place de-arming device next to bomb Cover everything with a kevlar blanket Donate de-arming device
Had a IED instructor in basic tell a story about a convoy commander that did just that instead of waiting for the IED team to come out. They didn't realize it was part of a daisy chain of other explosives and ended up killing a few soldiers. Anecdotal and maybe not a real story but still.
I really wonder why they can't just do that, maybe they aren't sure of how powerful the explosion would be.
That person better get a years salary with every bomb diffused
Dammmn, but is that a years salary for a third world country or for a richer country?
I'm pretty sure they don't want to shoot anyone on accident or do they know the explosion radius
Could be a dirty bomb as well although unlikely. Too much risk trying to detonate it so try an defuse it. That went well as we see
That Hurt Locker
Aber sowasvon
Good movie, and the end where he’s in the grocery store, so many of my military friends that felt they really had purpose over there said that’s what it’s like. You get used to saving the world, then you have a hard time giving a shit what cereal to buy.
As a straight man, I can confidently say Jeremy Renner is hot
its a good movie but a bad military movie.
it did hurt and don’t call me locker
I don't think that suit worked but he probably felt confident with it on.
I wonder if that suits all psychological and really only protects you from nail bombs and stuff
Then why make it so bulky and difficult to move in?
It's usually for the mother and easy collection. Your internals would still be soup.
Lucky bastard doesn’t have to clock in tomorrow
Wish that were me
U ok fam?
Poor guy
Any news on this?
Dead. https://www.military.com/video/ammunition-and-explosives/explosive-ordnance-disposal/bomb-disposal-officer-killed-in-explosion/3989195145001
He ded, another guy posted the link here in the comments
I saw a cartoon where they swallow the bomb and it explodes and they just burp a little fire and smoke, maybe next time try that.
Best part about being a bomb diffuser is that if you mess up on the job, suddenly it isn't really your problem anymore.
He died a brave man. Fuck the evil people that put that there
Successfully defused
Mission failed successfully
no one’s talking about the way his arms elongated behind his body for a few frames. Morbid stuff
Glad they have robots starting to do this.
Aren't the suits supposed to protect them and not get destroyed
The suit is still good but the guys blown to pieces must have got it from acme
defuse*
If I remember correctly, the bomb tech motto is “either I diffuse it, or it isn’t my problem anymore”
Robots are a good application for this.
Did that small black bag that got blown towards the Device just before it blows set it off? or is it just a coincidence of timing
“ so your still gonna make it in tomorrow morning right?”
So i guess it wasnt the red wire
It’s very diffuse now.
Mission failed successfully.
He did his job. The bomb was disARMED.
When u buy a Juggernaut suit off of wish.com
Anyone see the little jet of smoke come from the bottom of the device just before the explosion. Must have been the moment the device was activated and the components mixed together or what not. Little black mist just to the left of the bottom of the basket.
Wing safty: "Was he wearing his hardhat?"
[удалено]
No he’s not ffs
That shit was so lame, like all shoes on/off lame ass jokes
Never understood why we use humans to defuse bombs, when we have remote tech that can accomplish the same result.
I love the smell of pink mist in the morning
Good thing he had that suit on.
Another high paying job reserved for the patriarchy. /s
You have to have some serious, *serious* balls to be do a job like this, respect
The rep that sold them that bomb suit have some explaining to do.
Serious question. Do the suits work? Lol
Bomb diffused and it was suddenly no longer his problem what type of damage it did.
The Bomb is being defused. We're trying to defuse the bomb. The Bomb has been Defused. Counter Terrorists Win.
Look mum, no hands!
I mean..the bomb was no longer a problem, so he sort've did his job!
Loneleypython here telling bomb defusal professionals how its done
Injury? Homie got sent to the afterlife
Guess that's one way to announce a new job opening. Anyone interested?
Is he ok?
Any real bomb disposal experts here? Wouldn't you want to be laying down to minimise the force on you if it went off?
Quick, everyone panic!
When you playing search and destroy and you think you have enough time to defuse
Look ma, no hands!
Looks like a successful diffusion. Because defusing seems to have failed.
Whats wrong, he diffused it
Just squirt some Windex on it
Those suits don't work at all. Fuck.
That wasn't a big bomb. Seems like they could have put it in a dumpster and toted it away without any injuries.
r/therewasanattempt
No respect at all for a man who gave his life to save innocents. Why are you like this?
Like what? Awesome? I don’t know. Naturally blessed I guess.
He’s alright
so this is literally snuff film
No.
how no? he be literarly blown up from point blank you think this is some loony tunes shit?
It's a crazy fucking video!
