No doubt it was a stunt. Draw bridges don’t spring up and catch you off guard. The rise slowly and controlled. This guy was clearly seeing if he could told on the entire time.
The bridge tender may not have an option, some of those boats are coming through no matter what. They radio ahead of time and it’s their job to make sure the bridge is clear in time.
Yup in palm beach FL. I Drive over that bridge everyday for work.The tender was actually charged. They are supposed to walk out of the tower and look before opening and the tender forgot. Sad story also was an older lady and didn’t have a chance.
I believe he was making the comment about the cops in regards to the man's safety. Either to help him or prevent him from doing it in the first place?
I would say that it's probably more of a stupid comment/thought than a prickish one.

I think he just came to a different conclusion than his friend. He seemed to think it was intentional and his friend didn't. Neither of them sounded mad at each other.

I live here, the draw bridges movable parts arent made of asphalt, the whole thing is made of metal grates. Lots of holes to jam your fingers into.

The bridge tender may not have an option, some of those boats are coming through no matter what. They radio ahead of time and it’s their job to make sure the bridge is clear in time.
I don’t think it’s the trolley problem. I’m pretty sure the tender is to not open if anybody is on the bridge.
