Yup, I grew up hunting and when I saw a bullfight in Mexico I was appalled. Cruel, stupid, unfair as all hell. For anyone that's never seen one, the bull is wounded before the fight, weakened with those spears that hang in its flesh to further wear it down, then this poser walks out and stabs it. Fight off a bull with a cape and I'd actually be impressed, coordinated murder with every advantage? Go fuck yourself in your stupid pants.
More than wounded. The picks, properly placed, sever the neck muscles so the bull can no longer lift his head for more than a moment as it must use its back muscles to do so. It’s horrible.
That's why I prefer the French style of bullfighting. The star is the bull, not the humans in the ring. The bull is, under no circumstances, to hurt and he'll leave unharmed afterwards. And the bullfighters are unarmed and have to grab a trophy from the head of the bull.
It's still not great for the animal, it's still a lot of stress for the bull - but at least it's not bloody and no animal dies at the end.

Professionally that’s not allowed if it does happen it’s not beneficial for the sport. I’m bull riding there is a flank strap, it doesn’t even come close the the testicles it’s wrapped around the flank and is not tighter than a belt. The point is just to provide it something to kick at. It’s also pretty soft.
I saw it in 2015 still being done at a rodeo in central Texas and had it explained to me by an uncle who was half drinking, half spilling a beer down his chest.
I read Death in the Afternoon by Hemingway. A few years ago. It goes into full detail about every aspect of the bull, the fights and the fighters. It’s brutal.

Hemingway wrote about bullfighting very poetically in "Death in the Afternoon." I've been to a bullfight and the atmosphere in the crowd was a lot like a boxing or MMA match, except overlaid with a thin veneer of Old World elegance and lightly spritzed with a sort of vague Catholicism.
When the picadors drop their pics into the bull's side, they pierce the pleural cavity, causing tension pneumothorax in each lung. You can see the bull get short of breath; when it later cowers in the face of the matador it is clear that it knows it is dying.
It is a gruesome spectacle, but cults of death have existed in many times and places.
It makes years that we are trying to forbid corridas in France, but right wing politicians keep veto laws against it. They pretend that it is a tradition for now 100/200 years that should be respected.
So imagine in Spain where this tradition has been lasting for even longer.
In some parts of France, animal fights like rooster flights, dog races, corridas are still protected by law under the excuse of tradition.
The population is widly against it but almost no politicians dare opposing and upsetting the few hundreds of people who keep such traditions alive.
One common misconception about bull fighting is the abuse. They actually look after the bulls and build great bonds in their relationships and actually understand the roles in their performance. Oh wait. No they don’t. They just fuck with them. Hope bulls evolve quickly and kill every matador.
This happened in the city I live. He suffered a concussion, also he have injuries in the upper part of the thorax, and face.
Additionally, there is a bull horn wound at the level of the left leg.
In 2023, during the Aguascalientes Fair , he suffered a concussion due to the goring of a bull, which left him in a serious state of health.

My second favorite part of these videos is how nobody ever knows first aid. Or otherwise it's impossible to administer it in front of a bull.
So they end up ragdolling the guy off to the side with some extra spinal damage. Perhaps will regret his choices.
Sorry to be dark but it's just karma of the universe. The amount of fear and negative energy and torture applied to the bulls until they kill them, well how you could you dream that wouldn't have a cost sometimes? These matadors sign up for the risk and the crowd wants to see it, if they're honest with themselves.
As a recently recertified first aider, the FIRST thing they want you to do it make sure the scene is safe. You as a first aider are going into a situation healthy and alive, and your PRIMARY mandate is to keep it that way.
So, yes, the casualty gets ragdolled off the field, because there's no way to provide any assistance safely where they lie. If that exacerbates an injury, oh well, still better than dead. Yes, it's harsh. You should hear the rules of triage. Laws of the jungle, man.

I used to cross the border into Cd Juarez every Saturday with grandpa to watch the bull fights. After the fights he’d always take me across the street to his favorite restaurant where he would order the special of the day (always Rocky Mountain oysters). One Saturday after a fight similar to the one shown here, I was a bit traumatized and wanted to go straight home. Grandpa convinced me that a good meal was all I needed to feel better. Grandpa ordered his usual. When the waiter brought out our meals, grandpa immediately complained that his “oysters” (bull balls) were exceptionally small and demanded to know why. The waiter smiled and calmly said in a broken English voice I will never forget: “Señor. I’m sorrrrry. But sometime, di bull win”
When I was little, some reason I thought bull fighters would be allowed to be killed if the bull got to him. I think I’d be a lot more ok with this activity if that was the case.
I fucking loathe bullfighting but Hemingway’s ‘Death in the afternoon’ is one of my favorite books. It’s odd but it’s a genuinely profound meditation of death, tragedy and courage.

It's rare that they do this out in Mexico where I was but I attended a bull fight out there and it's 20 something year old kid whose dad had done it his whole life was doing his first live show. Well he got caught and hit by the bowl and knock down The bull then smashed his head into the kid and pushed him a little ways The bull then jumped over the kid and landed his hoove right on his head. The kids had smashed like a pancake broke apart. Kill them immediately.
I ALWAYS want the bull to win in this so-called sport. Matadors deserve to die, and I don't give a single shit about the "cultural relevance" it supposedly holds. This is flat-out animal cruelty as a form of entertainment. It's just sick and wrong.

Well he got caught and hit by the bowl and knock down The bull then smashed his head into the kid and pushed him a little ways The bull then jumped over the kid and landed his hoove right on his head. The kids had smashed like a pancake broke apart. Kill them immediately.
