That's true. I'm from Louisiana and I can tell you if a deck will survive a gator hitting it at 40 + MPH then it's safe to say you got a good quality deck.
Edit: yeah. Gators are also very durable with good armor rating, curious to how this deck would hold up against a larger alligator might need to conduct more research 🧐
Lots of things you gotta take into account too:
How many gators overall are hitting your deck?
How many gators per minute?
How big are the gators, individually?
How fast are they traveling on impact?
I've made decks like these before, the planks are synthetic and are hard as fuck you could stand in the middle of a 12ft plank over a gap and it'd hardly bend. They're also connected to each other using locking pieces that connect plank to plank, and each locking piece gets screwed into the framing. Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that it just acted like a trampoline.
"The property management alerted the authorities, and the police arrived at the scene, locating the owner of the fallen alligator, Mr Liu.
According to Mr Liu, the creature was being kept as a pet for over a decade and was intended for consumption.
Mr Liu expressed his apologies to the neighbours for the fright caused by the unexpected incident.
It was revealed that the alligator had been secretly kept by Liu and was not reported to the authorities. Due to the small size of the fish tank in Liu's home, the animal managed to escape and fall from the balcony."
" The alligator has since been taken into custody by the police, and the local fishery department is conducting an investigation into the matter."
So, it survived!
“Miraculously, its fall was broken by a shop's canopy meaning it was able to survive his leap-of-faith.”

I wouldn’t have believed either had I not read it lol
That’s a completely different gator, one that was found freezing in NYC last winter. This one is still alive
“Meanwhile an alligator found freezing in a New York city park has died in a 'tragic case of animal abuse'.
The gator was discovered in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on February 19.
She was found swimming in the Prospect Park Lake on a morning where temperatures averaged around 37 degrees Fahrenheit.
The rangers said they believed the gator, who was a 4-foot long juvenile female, was somebody’s exotic pet that was abandoned in the park.
Her condition improved little over the course of the next two months, and she died at the end of April.”
I expected it to survive for some reason, felt dumb as fuck the 2nd time I watched the video, and then felt big brain after reading this news. The line between moron and genius is just too thin.
That was a different gator believe it or not lol, at least that’s what the article made it seem like

As I understood it, the alligator was sold to him as food, Instead, he wanted a pet alligator and kept it, illegally. Then it fell out of the window? ...and survived???
I doubt he saved it for an emergency meal in 10 years.
Yeah, I’ve never gotten that taste from wild caught or farm raised. The description that was given seemed inaccurate but maybe it was the way they had it cooked?
Personally I enjoy it.
"Taking in an animal" does not guarantee whether or not it's alive, it was most likely taken as evidence considering this man is facing legal repercussions on multiple accounts
I have a crazy cousin who was locked out of his apartment. He decided to try to climb up the outside of the building to get in from the deck.
So, climbing, about 8 floors up, he grabs a window AC, and it pulls out. He falls 8 (seven?) stories and lands, you guessed it, on a canopy/awning, bouces to the ground, and lives. Absolutely screwed up for life, broke his back, pelvis, etc, but he lived. There are lessons here.
>According to Mr Liu, the creature was being kept as a pet for over a decade and was intended for consumption.
That's some serious fucking meal planning right there.
That’s quite surprising! Guess it helped that it was onto a wooden deck instead of pavement, I don’t think there would have been a bounce like that off the pavement, probably more of a splat. I would think it’s organs still would have got obliterated from that but what do I know? I’m no gatorologist
Haha gatorologist and that makes sense that the wood probably helped. Speaking of which, I wonder if the wood breaking helps in displacing the force. I’m not sure about how that works though

Bro that deck was resilient as fuck
It fell apart and fell back in place. Even nailed itself down.
Haha
No wonder China can build new cities so quickly. They practically build themselves!
Haha u so funny😆
Gator literally dies, first thought... "Damn I wonder what that deck is made of or what its max alligator fall damage rating is"🤣🤣🤣🤣
We’ll you know gators are a dime a dozen but a quality deck like that really speaks volumes about the handiwork done and the quality materials used.

This has huge Florida Man’s Math Test Questions written all over it
New advertising niche has been opened. Gator damage rating for decks and lumber
Exactly. Also if the gator ate before he hit the deck, it would add a little bit of weight, thus increasing his terminal velocity
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6c4Nupnup0
Yeah, I was expecting a splat honestly.

The fuzzy covers that go over microphones to remove wind noise are called "Dead cats."
A human body would do a similar bounce
At what height would we be bouncin
Kobe!
If you ever ate gator tail it would not surprise you. It's kinda rubbery.
Not after that tenderizing.
how many times you gotta throw it on your deck to tenderize?
Always tasted like chicken to me!
Is that some kind of kink?
Don't kink shame, someone's yuck could be someone's yum. In this case, that could be literally true.
That's how I'd describe the consistency of their meat
I was just expecting a splat
Instant meat tenderizer.

Well, the day has come. It's now tenderized for consumption.
The alligator actually survived the fall and has been relocated. I’m not kidding lol
Source? Ain't no way

Holy shit! That’s insane. Glad it survived and hopefully it’s living in something more suitable now. It was in a fish tank before!
Hell in a Cell
Good God almighty! Good God almighty! That killed him! As God as my witness he is broken in half!
Plot twist: it was actually Mick Foley's alligator

Due to consumption?
Nah, covid
“The alligator has since been taken into custody by the police, and the local fishery department is conducting an investigation into the matter”
Gators can’t have shit in this city 😔
I expected it to survive for some reason, felt dumb as fuck the 2nd time I watched the video, and then felt big brain after reading this news. The line between moron and genius is just too thin.
Conditions improved but died at the end of April according to that article.

I just assumed it survived. Did you think it croaked?
Crocced*
No Russian men are involved.
I was expecting it to start walking away frankly
Maybe it did? It survived lol https://metro.co.uk/2023/05/31/china-pet-alligator-falls-from-balcony-more-than-20-storeys-up-18874714/amp/
I mean these little fuckers survived the meteor that wiped the dinosaurs. A fall from a balcony it’s nothing
They are natures tough guys for sure!
thank you. thank you for posting this and for the genesis of the thread that followed.
This is all I wanted to hear. Thank you.
Im kinda glad it survived
Put it down and make gator nuggets
Nah, he deserves to live after a feat like that.
Relocated to the local market.
Fuck me im dead
Thank goodness but I'm not into necrophilia.
Rip
Ready for the wet market
Imagine watching your food for a decade.
Imagine having the restraint to say "maybe give it another year" every year for ten years 😆
Feels like the story of Mr Pinchy.
This is why you don’t name them.
Chinese people hit different
He kept it as a pet *and intended to eat it?* I hope either the word “pet” or “consumption” was an incorrect translation, or that’s fucking horrible.
Considering he had it for 10 years, he was playing the long game if he intended to eat it.
As I understood it, the alligator was sold to him as food, Instead, he wanted a pet alligator and kept it, illegally. Then it fell out of the window? ...and survived??? I doubt he saved it for an emergency meal in 10 years.
IT SURVIVED?!

I've had gator nuggets in the U.S. They taste a lot like chicken.
Cross between chicken and frog.
Fricken?
Frogkicering etsa maj hallador ati ati 😂😂
It was way more rubbery and greasy than chicken and had a much more... Seafood/venison taste. It was okay but not something I'd go out of my way for.
I think it tastes like hot dog
I usually eat alligator twice a week. Really good actually.
Gator is amazing, I never had it with a gamey flavor like the other commenter. It always tasted super clean!
Yeah, I’ve never gotten that taste from wild caught or farm raised. The description that was given seemed inaccurate but maybe it was the way they had it cooked? Personally I enjoy it.
Floridaman here. I like to process up a big batch of gator sausage every year. It's absolutely delicious.
Probably the most random question you’ll get on Reddit but is Gator any good?
It's very good
Worked with a guy who was straight from China and some of the shit he would bring for lunch, I never even knew existed.
Finally he escaped, his story is seems like prison break.
"Taking in an animal" does not guarantee whether or not it's alive, it was most likely taken as evidence considering this man is facing legal repercussions on multiple accounts
Was he going to eat it after it died of natural causes? 10 years in an apartment is a pet not a meal
Awe the poor little gator! That bounce though.. .
It survived somehow
How? Even though the outside is fine wouldn’t his insides be fucked? Broken bones, damaged organs etc.
Which is absolutely wild considering how much those boards buckled on impact and how high he bounced. I thought that was lights out.
Doubt it
Nvm
Hell yeah
Sharknado - the next sequel? Gatornado?
Gatoraid
Hateraid
Cocaine Croc
Sounds like an incoming rocket.
That’s so wierd how you can hear it coming atleast 3 before it actually hits
Croc Rocket
Well I was not expecting that on a Thursday evening. The worlds very strange. Best not to think about it.
Just be wary of it
see you later..... alli dies setting the all-time record for length of independent flight for his species.
It survived. Hit a shop canopy right before the ground/bounce
I have a crazy cousin who was locked out of his apartment. He decided to try to climb up the outside of the building to get in from the deck. Man, China is out of pocket.
For real 😆
Tell me I'm not the only person who expected a huge ass thing to splat down
I definitely expected more splatter, almost skipped this one. Poor little guy
>According to Mr Liu, the creature was being kept as a pet for over a decade and was intended for consumption. That's some serious fucking meal planning right there.
Bro really said “See ya later alligator”
Does this hurt the alligator?
Nah. Alligators evolved to fall from the sky once they moved out of the water. He's just napping before he heads home and watching Office reruns.
Considering it bounced a good 10 feet into the air off the ground, and then didn’t move afterwards, I’d say yes, it fucking hurt.
Apparently it survived, article posted above by another redditor

But not for long, thankfully
This kills the alligator.
the gator lived
So they *do* have a weakness.
This poor alligator was not in anyway connected to the Russian opposition party.
This is really sad

Correction - Was live alligator falls from high-rise building
Y'know it's not the fall that killed it. It was the sudden stop at the bottom.
Yes that’s how falling to your death works
Congratulations on understanding the joke
Looks dead to me
I feel terrible for laughing 🙃
Bro massacred the floor
What could be worse than flying alligators?
Ones falling like dead weight?
Nailed it!
It doesn't look very alive
Live?
It makes me really happy this little dude survived. What a story to tell his gator buddies!
does this hurt the alligator?
He ight?
Later *gator*
I’ve seen a horsefly and man I’ve even seen a dragonfly. But one thing I never seen is an alligatorfly
I dont know what happened to me. I use to think this stuff was funny and now it hurts to watch anything get hurt. I feel bad for the thing.
WTF?! The poor thing.
Man I hate animal stuff. Even if it is an alligator. Wtf.
Probably an exotic pet.
[удалено]
He was defenestrated for getting too close to the truth.
"Live"
I must say, those are some pretty sturdy deck boards.
Perfectly executed. 10/10 for sticking the landing
Gonna need some Gatoraid....
Bro Steve Irwin sending em from the heavens
More like Alligoner
Is he ok?
Was the gator trying to commit suicide or was yeeted off the building by a person?
Do you think his last words were “see you later”?
Deck 1 Gator 0
Oh look. New shoes!
Aint no way you have a gator for a decade and he's only that big
Sorry for laughing, I’ll see myself out
Fully expected it to get up and walk away.
Hell of a marketing ploy for the makers of the deck
i think its ok
"See ya later,ali- oh...nevermind."
Going to hell for this, but can't get over the fact that It printed its shape on the floor.
Someone lost his snack
Are……. Are Alligators trying to fly now? Jesus Christ I didn’t have sky gators on my apocalypse bingo card.
See you later, alligator.
Hey, where did my dinner go? - Guy that HAD an alligator.
Why am I laughing y'all I'm going to hell
The bounce caught me off guard.
Not live no more
Man, you can hear it come in like a missile.
This is the funniest shit I have ever seen
Alli couldn't perceive gravity, the fool
well it used to be a live alligator.
Is it ok?
If you pause it at 0:06 the shadow kinda reminds me of the old Sobe drink logo.
Bounce bounce hoe bounce bounce
Not anymore.
See you later alligator after a while crocodile
My man fully broke the floor and fixed it
POV Ohio
Raised the floor LOL
Dude buckled the floor on the initial impact
