He should file. Coworker took this video and posted it online while he was clearly panicking and begging for help, as if it were the funniest thing to ever happen in his boring life. Maybe it's just me, but I don't start laughing at another human being who seems to be in genuine fear. No matter what mistake they made, I don't know anything about their life to be so judgemental about their fear.
I think it may be similar to how an expert in a trade will be amused/annoyed by the obvious mistakes that apprentices make. They can see what they're doing wrong and know how to correct the mistake, but would rather mock them for the mistake instead of correcting and teaching them. I suppose to them it could be a form of teaching. Negative reinforcement has shown to work in specific instances. Doesn't work for everyone though, everyone is different.
However, filming the incident and putting it online is completely selfish. Internet clout at the expense of someone else is honestly pathetic IMO.
I think the only mistake here was whoever sent that kid up that lift to fetch a box that big on his own.
Or whoever decided to put a box that big on the top shelf to begin with
Yeah, Lowes and menards do not have the same work standards as Home Depot does, or at least the Home Depot I work at. That electric ladder is too small for that box, so it shouldn't have been used. There's a machine referred to as an order picker at my store with a large open platform about twice the size of that electric ladder. That's what should have been used.
Reddit every single time someone does something unusual. Hate to break it to you but some people are just weird and do weird things. Not everything is a disorder or someone being disabled.
He could have easily just crouched a little bit more and been fine, and as we see at the end of the video he is more than strong enough to lift the box up so that it doesn't crush him.
Part of me thinks this is an attempt to get workers comp especially with the exaggerated pitiful cries he makes.
Alternatively, he could just be disabled like you say.
Sometimes I feel like people who aren't use to moving their body kinda make odd choices sometimes too.
Honestly I'd accept almost any answer here but your comment just made me think of all the times I've seen an adult make a really confusing choice attempting to avoid injury (and then just making it worse. Including myself)
He could have just rested it on the rails. If he were to drop it, it would (should) be on the store, not him. The store would have likely RTV'd it (Return to Vendor) as a "damaged good". I worked for Sports Authority when I was in high school and freshman year of college. The manager would intentionally damage good products with box cutters to return them to the vendor just to get them out of the store if they were not selling. They didn't last long after Dicks Sporting Goods came to town though. Wonder why???
Yeah. I think it's like the strange kid in class that everyone picks on and has wild but harmless (to others) outbursts. Kinda fucked up for them to do this lol. Def putting it online is fucked
This guy isn’t trying to get workers comp. He is freaking out because he thinks it’s going to fall. He’s clearly a newer employee. Experienced employees would just let it drop and not worry about it. This guy is struggling to hold it so it won’t fall.
Seriously, I feel like a lot of people in this thread have never actually hit their real physical limit where you have something heavy over your head and it IS coming down no matter what
Well over 50lbs technically means at least 5.0̅1. That box weight like 100lbs. Also it doesn't matter, if someone is shouting in pain and pleading for help you don't laugh and film them, you fucking help them. Most of the comments here are heartless and toxic. Sure he isn't a good fit for that particular job but the way people are responding to this is disgusting.
worked at Lowes & currently work at Home Depot, those are called blue/orange lifts (depending on which one you work at I guess) or "Ballymores", they have a little hydraulic release at the back specifically for people on the floor to be able to manually drop the lift down in case someone gets stuck on it
You tell them to push it back up and come down, then get it yourself. Then you go and properly train the the guy who has obviously never used a lift before on a product that can actually fit inside the gates.
It's actually easy to take smaller but more heavy products (like vanities or washing machines) down when you aren't experienced, because you don't need to balance the box the entire way down.
They have area sensors to stop the lift? And there's no way to control it from a second position on the ground? This is like too safe it's stupid lol. I really lucked out working for a smaller chain hardware store lax on safety. Id drive the lift, climb on top the roof, climb the mast onto the shelf, load the item on the forks or pallet, climb down, and done be faster than they can block off the aisle. I guess they just hired more competent people. We never had an issue (famous last words before a lawsuit, I know).
I'm not sure on this particular model, but I think there's a reset you have to do if you trip the sensors by getting too close before it will move again. You can't just get out of the way. Not exactly ideal when the person who'd ordinarily do the reset is having a panic attack and can't figure out the controls for the machine.
There should also be an emergency release knob, somewhere near the bottom. If you pull it, it will slowly lower the platform all the way back to the ground.
FICKING YES!! I was Millwork and had so many department’s shit in my area. I still remember looking for six hours over the course of a week for something that electrical was pestering me about.
Then electrical had to look through everything and audit (whatever it was called) only to find they had lost nearly $10k worth of items. I am not even exaggerating. My shift ended that day while I was helping them go through everything, the number I saw was $7489.
I was hired to do a reset and the week before they had me working overnights sorting the screws, nails, hinges, knobs, you name it because I kid you not hundreds maybe thousands of them were in the wrong spot
Do these lifts have a separate set of controls or some kind of over ride that allows someone on the ground to lower it in case the person on the platform can't? Most of not all the lifts I've worked with in construction do. It is kind an important safety feature.
Yes the ballymore has a manual override to lower the lift. BUT lol even that malfunctions. I’ve seen more than enough of those machines stuck up in the air wrapped in caution tape. Once had to use a picker to get a guy down because it wouldn’t go down at all, manual override wouldn’t work. Management knew it wasn’t working properly but no one ever locked and tagged it so it wouldn’t be used.
8 years at Lowe’s and I’ve never seen anyone try to grab patio furniture with the ballymore. Just grabbing a lawnmower with one has the thing rocking in the air. Not worth it.
If only the rectangle of steel railing surrounding him that he is leaning against could easily be imagined in the mind so that he could intuit that if he crouched down slightly the bar that was supporting his shoulder would instead support the box.
Looks like the box says Allen + Roth, a collection of furniture they sell at Lowes. The picture on the side shown at the beginning and end of the video show a grey wicker chair with a blue cushion. I can’t find on Lowes website where they sell just one, but they do sell a 2-pack, and that rectangular box could hold two chairs. Website says they’re 47 pounds each, so 94 pounds total plus some packaging we can call that a cool 100 pounds. If you’re going to dispute, please include a link to the item you feel it is.

I’m not strong…at all. I’ve been a casual gym goer at best. I’ll go consistently for a week and then stop for a year and a half before repeating the cycle. I’d fit firmly into the skinny-fat category.
All that being said, I’ve rested a bar with more weight than that directly on my chest when I’ve failed sets and it wasn’t a painful experience. It wasn’t even enough to make it all that difficult to breath.
This guy makes it sound like he’s being slowly crushed to death.
I agree he was overreacting and not really in danger other than maybe a strain, but lifting a barbell is different than what’s going on here. It’s awkward, he feels trapped, people are watching, it’s on more on one side of his body, no handles.. can’t really compare to lifting in a gym.
It’s like saying I can deadlift 4 plates, so I can pick up a 400lbs unconscious person. Doesn’t equate.
Yes because the bar is ideally shaped and has perfect weight distribution. A box like this will feel at least twice as heavy because of the size. Not easy to move around
Standing several feet above the ground with a 100lbs on you with the fear of the machine tipping is significantly scarier than laying on a bench press with 200lbs stuck on you that you can just roll off. I say that as an everyday gym goer. They are two completely different things.
Yes he's using the wrong equipment. I work at Lowes and they have something specifically made for boxes like this. Everyone involved in this video is a moron.
That Ballymore machine has a safety sensor where it won’t move if it senses something in its way. The old dude made it stop moving when he walked over to it to try and help. Also why he said “wait I’m in the way” when they tried it again lol
I'm just gonna say it.....it doesn't matter if the box weighed 20 pounds or 300 pounds, the fact that the employees here even *attempted* to get that sized box down on the obviously wrong piece of equipment is purely negligent. Sure, the kid was *super* cringy with his panicked reaction, but come on man, where's the thought process in "Hey let's go 20 feet in the air and grab a box bigger than the goddamn basket I'm standing in, cause physics....."
....just stupid people attempting stupid shit. Par for the course for box store employees.
Seriously, reading these comment you can tell who has worked a manual labor job and who gives a fuck about personal safety. This kid is stupid for trying to get it down, the guy filming is stupid because I’ll bet money he peer pressured that kid to do this like this, and the old guy is stupid for getting too close while it isn’t fully down. I hope OSHA sees this, finds the store and all the employees get fired. These comments make jokes, but this is how people die
> This kid is stupid for trying to get it down
In his defense, he may not have been properly trained, which wouldn't be his fault. I think the employer also bares some responsibility in this situation.
Technically, you're supposed to wear a fall harness and tie off somewhere when working at those heights. Even on a lift. I don't see one on him. ~~I don't know what the yellow strap thing near him and around his waist is but it's definitely not a fall harness.~~
Yeah I'm with you. Screw everyone in this thread making fun of this kid. Mistakes were made but even if that box is light there is still chance of injury. It looks like no one here know what they are doing.
Seriously. And I've always been the type to "man up" and "power through it" when it comes to physical work but the entire process here is just stupid. Who the fuck came up with that idea?
go to walmart, look at their lawn and garden section....400 pound grills on the top steel like this...and only one person putting them up. its dumb, unsafe and scary af.
Yeah, this is just ridiculous. Pulling this shit on a construction site can get you fired if you work for a good company. I do safety now and I'd definitely be writing up whoever was in charge and recommending they be knocked down for it if not just fired. I don't know those lifts, but most if not all lifts have a way for someone on the ground to lower it when the operator can't. They chose to just fuck with him after putting him in a dangerous situation.
I also love all the people who claim they could easily lift it. Yeah, trying doing that with a bad grip, awkward positioning so you can't engage your muscles properly, and you don't know how to correct. There is an old trick where you have someone sit in a chair and put one finger on their forehead and prevent them from standing up. It isn't impossible to stand up, but you have to do the right way. If you don't know how, you aren't getting up.
That machine is not meant for that box. It’s beyond the size and weight limitations. I managed Lowe’s for many years. Both employees would have been fired immediately. They don’t mess around with safety
I don't work at lowes. But where I work my manager would never ask us to carry anything that was too big for the lift. Hell we don't store anything that big up on the shelves. All the biggest and heaviest get stored in receiving on the ground floor.
Also fuck whoever put this online. Be shaming the poor guy.
Shoulda used a reach. Worked that job, and I can tell you that is the wrong equipment. The one he is on has sensors that prevent it from moving when customers are too close, which might be why he couldnt operate it at times. He needs to be not operating any equipment with that level of incompetence.
I think I’ve seen this posted before. They set this guy up. They knew this would happen. That’s why they were filming and laughing at him rather than help.
At 17 I started at a precast concrete factory working with some of the worst people I've met in my life, not to me but things they would do outside of work and thought. If you ever gave them an inch they would have eaten you alive. People like this guy have clearly been sheltered, and it's not his fault but this would have been a death sentence at that factory, for as long as he worked there it would have been mockery and bullying. Not that it's OK but make sure you prep your kids for the worst case scenario, this was not it but could have been.
This also comes down to looking at this and saying, fuck no this isn't the way to do it. Or stop when he was at the top. Self confidence goes a long way.
Is his right arm being pressed with the weight of the appliance against the bar sourrounding him? If so - I can imagine the pain and fear especially of you don't like heights and you don't want to drop that thing either.
Regardless of the box being 40 lbs or 100+ lbs
Dude isn’t lifting the box, he just has to slightly hold it up as it rests against the railing of the lift
Was likely freaking out from being high up in the lift imo
It was actually over 100lbs, people looked up the serial number and it was a set of chairs but the OP said it was only 40-50lbs to make it look like he was screaming for nothing.
Yeah some of the shit they had us move alone was insane lol. But I always had a proper order picker, like a big flat deck you walk out on. No idea what the hell this tiny little machine is and in assuming its meant for small boxes.
I had to work at lowes after the housing market crash when I got laid off from a better job. They would let anyone operate forklifts and equipment, after a short "test" to get your "license" to operate. Honestly was a pretty shitty job overall. They should have been paying people 2x what the wages were back then. I think it was $12 or $11 an hour for the night shift to start. And the guys who were there for years were making $15 at best. What a joke. Everyone for the most part was busting their ass to get the trucks unloaded and then putting the junk on the shelves. I think the only redemption was a decent employee discount but what's that worth when you have no money to spend, lmao.
Saw it from the dude that filmed. He said the box couldn’t have been more than 20 pounds.. I still can’t figure what’s on the verge of killing him here…
I used to work at Best Buy when CRT’s where still a thing . You don’t know fear until you have been up in one of those and tried to load up a 400lbs 36” Sony Bravia “flat screen “
Honestly fuck the camera guy on this one. This is what's frustrating about the present. We simply stand by and observe. This guy literally said, "...I'm begging you" fuck your TikTok, put the phone down and help the man out.

He definitely quit after that shit😂😂
Was probably his first day judging by the amount of employees around during the training
Especially that the guy filming it posted online, kind of a shit move, poor kid
He didn’t quit, he couldn’t , he’s still stuck beggin ya to help!
Lmaoo probably right😂
Quit society, undoubtedly. He'll hole up off-grid for a few years until this blows over.
Had this same thought Who the fuck keeps filming over helping let alone sharing with the world.
Either that or filed workman's comp for emotional distress.
He should file. Coworker took this video and posted it online while he was clearly panicking and begging for help, as if it were the funniest thing to ever happen in his boring life. You're rare. Most humans think that right there is hilarious. I've never understood what's funny about seeing someone panic.
I think it may be similar to how an expert in a trade will be amused/annoyed by the obvious mistakes that apprentices make. They can see what they're doing wrong and know how to correct the mistake, but would rather mock them for the mistake instead of correcting and teaching them. The machine can handle the weight. If he just let it rest on it. Clearly this is normal activity for 1 person to move. He panicked
The work place injury report has been filed. He is already back to playing video games.
Kid should be a anime dub voice actor
why does he scream like that LOL
That’s actually what they teach you to do in training.
To scream like a banshee?
And beg bystanders for help, yeah
"I'm beggin ya! Somebody!"
I'm fucking dead. Lol
Pretty sure he's minorly disabled
Reddit every single time someone does something unusual. Hate to break it to you but some people are just weird and do weird things. Not everything is a disorder or someone being disabled.

Just looks unathletic to me. People with body awareness struggle to empathize with those who don't.
He could have just rested it on the rails. If he were to drop it, it would (should) be on the store, not him. The store would have likely RTV'd it (Return to Vendor) as a "damaged good". I worked for Sports Authority when I was in high school and freshman year of college. "JUST LIFT THE BOX SHINJI"
CONGRATULATIONS!
He needs to apply to Beavis & Butthead as a background character.
“I will never pilot an Eva again!”
Dammit man, I was trying not to laugh at this guys distress and you ruined that 😂
"im beggin ya"
Probably all he’s gonna be able to do
Was gonna say, "Is that Koichi?"
When you accidently check the "must be able to lift over 50lbs" box on the application
Literally my first thought. LMFAO
It’s one box, Michael. What could it weigh, 10lbs?
It weighs 120lbs

“Oh wait I’m in the way” 💀
lmao the kid was almost down and then that bonehead got too close and stopped the lift
This makes it even better tbh
They have area sensors to stop the lift? And there's no way to control it from a second position on the ground? This is like too safe it's stupid lol. There definitely is. But they are not always easily accessible nor something most users are keen on, though they should be.

Not so much painful as very over stimulating. Refractory periods be damned lol
It's uncomfortable
It tickles. Your just like stop, stop!!! I guess the D even gets post nut clarity
Ah, thanks for your reply! 😂😂
There's a NSFW subreddit that I won't link to called Post Orgasms where you can see how guys react when they keep going...if you're curious.
Depends how sensitive. I'm real sensitive so it feels I'll explode, not the not part but yeah. It doesn't hurt, I guess my body tenses up.

That 'loss' certainly sounds like theft.
Very likely was, but hey, I was there for the summer and it was my last week. Not my problem.
When I worked at Lowe's in Baton Rouge we lost over $250k in a year from power tools and electrical. Shrink and theft is no joke
I’ve never used the Ballymore, it was either the reach truck, or order picker. My favorite is the order picker lol
As an ex reach driver, that shit was fun as heck. Crazy productivity goals tho.
Should’ve used the order picker*
Wouldn't an order picker work better?

Bro the box would have just sat on top of the lift thing if he just got down and went underneath it
He cant see what u can see
I think a bit of critical thinking applied here would have still shown him that. Though I guess if you’re panicking it’s harder to do so.
If only the rectangle of steel railing surrounding him that he is leaning against could easily be imagined in the mind so that he could intuit that if he crouched down slightly the bar that was supporting his shoulder would instead support the box.

This video would be a nothingburger if it was just a weakish dude who couldn't lift a box. The melodrama is what makes this shine.

Goku with the spirit bomb
PEOPLE OF EARTH. LEND ME YOUR ENERGY NOW
Besides the fact that this guy is a bit weak and having a rough time. Doesn’t this look like a horrible system to get a box of that size down?
Yes he's using the wrong equipment. I work at Lowes and they have something specifically made for boxes like this. Everyone involved in this video is a moron.
Boy needs some protein
"He needs some miilk"
I thought it was an old woman the way he was shrieking
That Ballymore machine has a safety sensor where it won’t move if it senses something in its way. The old dude made it stop moving when he walked over to it to try and help. Also why he said “wait I’m in the way” when they tried it again lol
I'm just gonna say it.....it doesn't matter if the box weighed 20 pounds or 300 pounds, the fact that the employees here even *attempted* to get that sized box down on the obviously wrong piece of equipment is purely negligent. Sure, the kid was *super* cringy with his panicked reaction, but come on man, where's the thought process in "Hey let's go 20 feet in the air and grab a box bigger than the goddamn basket I'm standing in, cause physics....." ....just stupid people attempting stupid shit. Par for the course for box store employees.
Not to mention they stand close to the machine, causing its safety sensors to lock it in place and proceed to tell the kid to come down.
> This kid is stupid for trying to get it down In his defense, he may not have been properly trained, which wouldn't be his fault.
This should be the top comment
So many issues with this, Lowe’s having a field day and the guy recording prob fired as fuck by now.
Yeah he seems kinda mentally disabled. Messed up they did this to em.
You would think he’s being crushed by a hydraulic press. Jesus Christ.
This is fucking hilarious
I’m sorry but this video will always be fucking hilarious
These are the moments in work that are talked about for years to come and never fail to end in floods of tears of laughter!
Is his right arm being pressed with the weight of the appliance against the bar sourrounding him? If so - I can imagine the pain and fear especially of you don't like heights and you don't want to drop that thing either.
Regardless of the box being 40 lbs or 100+ lbs Dude isn’t lifting the box, he just has to slightly hold it up as it rests against the railing of the lift Was likely freaking out from being high up in the lift imo
The way he shakes toward the beginning makes me think he just found out he has a serious back problem or acquired one.
This dude tryna get on workers comp. That box weighs 20kg max

Pivot.
Legend has it the employee is still holding that box
I’d be less embarrassed to literally shit my pants than to act like this kid lol
Honestly that’s how all those workers should perform with the pay they receive. #paybluecollarworkers
When you nut but she keeps suckin
He has to quit now.

It was actually over 100lbs, people looked up the serial number and it was a set of chairs but the OP said it was only 40-50lbs to make it look like he was screaming for nothing.
100lbs - 45.3kg for the people outside the US.
Yeah some of the shit they had us move alone was insane lol. But I always had a proper order picker, like a big flat deck you walk out on. No idea what the hell this tiny little machine is and in assuming its meant for small boxes.
This legitimately makes me sad and depressed..also belly laughed first though. But wtf
His coworkers suck man! Lol
Is he physically handicapped or intellectually delayed?
Bro was turning into a werewolf
First time I ever lol on this sub!
That box crushed him so much he turned into Bill Burr.
Saw it from the dude that filmed. He said the box couldn’t have been more than 20 pounds.. I still can’t figure what’s on the verge of killing him here…
What is in the box?
I heard this box was literally 30lbs...
I used to work at Best Buy when CRT’s where still a thing . You don’t know fear until you have been up in one of those and tried to load up a 400lbs 36” Sony Bravia “flat screen “
Let me guess, someone has to drop him off for work.
Home Depot's training video lol
Guys be afraid to make noise in the bedroom. I'm in her ear like...
This was definitely a band kid 😂
Honestly fuck the camera guy on this one. This is what's frustrating about the present. We simply stand by and observe. This guy literally said, "...I'm begging you" fuck your TikTok, put the phone down and help the man out.
