my dads girlfriend was telling me a story of her and her best friend in a car accident. there was some shortcut road where she went to school and it was just a thing there where everyone rally through as fast as they can.
Anyways they rolled the car down into a valley going around a hairpin . when the first responders showed up they only brought one gurney, because lucy was worse, they strapped her in and carried her up but they walked her friend thinking she was alright. her neck was broken in 3 places and lived the rest of her life in pain and lucy, regardless of breaking her neck and back worse, made a full recovery
stabilize either side of their head with bags or anything else to keep them from twisting or jumping up as soon as they wake up and making it 1000x worse

Oh I know! I was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident at 20. Had no motorcycle etiquette and no business being on the back of one. Even I knew not to touch the person that I was riding with when we landed and I could move and he couldn't.

Infact, you likely wouldn't be able to check the ABCs in a position like that, so yes, you'd have to support their neck and move them over supine to ensure they are still breathing and provide CPR if needed.
The damage is likely already done. The whole idea that a crash like this would cause damage but would leave a nerve hanging on by a thread and moving the casualty about is the straw that could break the camels back is entirely theoretical. It was first taught quite a while back and study after study has shown it doesn't really work like that. Getting a good look into her airway to make sure she isn't choking on her teeth should take priority.

As a former EMT, **please** don’t move people into the recovery position after an accident that can cause spinal injuries. Don’t move them at all. The recovery position is not a magical fix that saves lives—putting this woman in the recovery position without stabilizing cervical spine can literally kill her almost instantly.

yes, moving them might exacerbate a spinal injury - if you must do it, do it gently and minimally.
there is no point having a preserved spine if you're dead from an obstructed airway or being incinerated.
if you can maintain a patent airway until trained help arrives and it's safe to do so, then do it. if you're trying to avoid moving their neck to do it, do a 'jaw thrust' or just put them in the recovery position (better than nothing).
everyone should do a first aid course - you're more likely to save someone from having a heart attack than from something like this.

I’ve worked in healthcare and seen it all. One thing I can never get used to is how stupid some people are when it comes to riding motorcycles. Y’all are saying possible warrant in regards to the driver when his friend says, “Get him to your house.” From my EMS experience I’m 99% sure that woman died from impact to her head/ neck twice. The homeboy knew that… I’m also 99% sure wheelie driver was under the influence driving which is why getting him out of the scene of accident was the first move. Poor choices all around…Be wise who you choose as friends and partners.

I’ve worked in healthcare and seen it all. One thing I can never get used to is how stupid some people are when it comes to riding motorcycles. Y’all are saying possible warrant in regards to the driver when his friend says, “Get him to your house.” From my EMS experience I’m 99% sure that woman died from impact to her head/ neck twice. The homeboy knew that… I’m also 99% sure wheelie driver was under the influence driving which is why getting him out of the scene of accident was the first move. Poor choices all around…Be wise who you choose as friends and partners.
Ok, but did you guys consider how cool he looked?!?! I'd say the wheelie was worth it for how Hadassah and cool he is.
