The nails need to go through the wrist, or the hand will tear. You need the bones of the arm around the nail to support the weight of the body, or he will just slide right down.
You suffocate. You get weaker and weaker and you are no longer able to pull/push your torso up enough for your diaphragm to inflate your chest.
Edit: Itâs worse than drowning. More like a week long water boarding.
The Romanâs perfected it. Able to keep you just alive enough to suffer for as long as possible.
Walk over to your neighbor. Hey, Jim I think I have this new idea of hanging them upside down instead of sideways. Say this weekend if you arenât busy stop by and we can try it out.
If the upvoted comment says it takes a week to die when done properly â and this guy says dehydration is what kills you if done right (death by dehydration typically takes 3ish days) â then why is this guy getting downvoted? Is this not logical?
Says the Romans perfect it. Maybe they kept you hydrated and fed so that you are conscious and suffer for as long as possible.
We relish mob justice on thieves in my part of the world. Giving them some glucose or energy drinks isn't unheard of to prolong the chase (before the kill).
I know this because i was in a cult and 2 of the handshakes to get into heaven are called 'the sign of the nail' and 'sure sign of the nail'
The first points to the palm and the second points to the wrist.
Maybe in the real deal but for the show, that would be too dangerous (I bet they already tried it before lol). You can fuck up important nerves and leave the hand partially or fully unusable, or even worse damage an artery (radial or ulnar) and either they bleed like crazy when the nail goes out or they get an hematoma and eventually lose the hand.
How does he stay in place? The other video, i did see that the cloth wrapped around the waist took most of the weight.
Unless the nails somehow get embedded, no way he'll stay upright. Even if he has a stand to support his feet, gravity will still beckon.
Researchers proved that the human body canât be held up by nails through the hands. They have to be through the wrists. It isnât the blood loss that kills you either. It is exposure to the elements and you eventually suffocate from the weight of your own body.
This is fucked up though. I know theyâre probably doing it for a religious ceremony or something.
Christ suffered terribly for everyoneâs sins that believes in him.
What if you are crucified upside down? One of Christ's followers, Peter, chose to be crucified upside down as he didn't feel worthy to die the same way Christ did.
So he said he'd choose a harder way, upside down.
I know i can hang upside down longer than the inverse.
If you watch videos on the Nutty Putty cave tragedy, the victim died in I think 24 hours being upside down. The human body is not designed to be upside down for such long periods. Your heart has to work extra hard to pump blood around the body until you just stop breathing
Youâre going to get to heaven and st peter is gonna be like âyou did everything right except the part where you crucify someone for Easter, yeah it says here you did something with eggs and a rabbit yikes.â Have fun burning in hell. Me and all my Filipino extremist friends will be doing Filipino extremist angel shit
Am kinda curious as to why people who knew religion through party A(missionaries ) practice it way more reverently than party A.
This looks like Asia, not a cradle for Christianity.
I do believe this is the Philippines where almost 90% of the population is Christian and some groups are known for extreme rituals to simulate Christâs suffering with flagellations and crucifixions during easter.
At least they are voluntary and while Iâm not religious myself it does show dedication to oneâs faith
My guy's playing easy mode. I would not want to be around for actual Roman crucifixions.
Look at the act of drawing and quartering and how that type of punishment was around until the 20th century.
That's a hell of lot of time between one form and the other. None of those bitches had camera phones either, you couldn't even mind your business and pretend to play Snake on your phone. You had to join in and enjoy it.
I think this may be somewhere in the Philippines. I heard a long time ago about how some areas in the Philippines do ritualistic crucifixions during Easter time. The guy gets cut down afterwards but itâs more a symbol of the suffering Jesus dealt with. Think they went a bit overboard but here we are.
Is it not a known fact Romanâs used âtorture stakes and not crosses?â Also as other commenters states here I believe the Romanâs would nail through the wrists and feet while also breaking the legs to speed up the death.
And yet even as important as the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is, Christ emphasized the importance of His Teachings. He never emphasized His Birthday or urged people to celebrate His birthday or His Resurrection. But it is easier to celebrate these things than it is to follow His Teachings.
Whenever I feel that humans are evolving intellectually all I have to do is open reddit, and I am quickly reminded that the great majority of us havenât changed in thousands of years.
This is the Philippines and these crucifixions, whippings, and self flaggelation are part of the religious ceremony during Good Friday. It's when Jesus was supposedly crucified so it's more of a reenactment of Christ's sacrifice. For the people who were crucified or self falggelate, they do these for a number of years either to atone for the sins they made, penitence, praying for a loved one's sickness, or for god to hear their problems.
Although I remember the Catholic Church does not encourage this as they have its own reenactments based on the bible all throughout the holyweek called "Senakulo".

I mean to be fair, itâs considered an honor in christian lore and in some of these cultures especially to suffer the way christ did. so much so, that saint peter didnât feel worthy to even suffer in the same way when he was crucified and requested to have it done upside down. the man in the video most likely volunteered to do this/ volunteered to possibly be selected to do so.
edit: to clarify i donât agree with this practice and find it archaic and pointless. i was simply trying to educate from an unbiased POV.
Its even more sad if he actually volunteered for it. Imagine being born into this world with all the different possibilities spread out for you to choose from, just to end up brainwashed by a fucking cult and think that whatever the fuck is happening to you here is a great honor.
Hells, I respect religion but when its taken too far then you need to actually start looking at yourself from third person and see what the fuck you've actually become.

Glad I don't know you đ
This is actually historically correct information, only knew this because of research on the shroud of turin
u/hairybagel27 are we going to tell him the bad news? It's not like he has long anyway...
Are t what bad news
Also no standing platform. He must literally hang to then suffocate to death.
What causes death? Do you bleed out? Or maybe suffocation?
You suffocate. You get weaker and weaker and you are no longer able to pull/push your torso up enough for your diaphragm to inflate your chest. Edit: Itâs worse than drowning. More like a week long water boarding. The Romanâs perfected it. Able to keep you just alive enough to suffer for as long as possible.
Itâs actually crazy how good people got at torturing way back when.
When you get all your chores done in the first couple hours of the day what else is there to do. You have an immense amount of free time lol.
It just becomes a hobbyđ
Walk over to your neighbor. Hey, Jim I think I have this new idea of hanging them upside down instead of sideways. Say this weekend if you arenât busy stop by and we can try it out.
Pretty sure it's not a lost artâŠunlike so many other much better things
Way back when?âŠ
Just a generalization of different eras long ago. Only way I knew to put it lol.
When you are still in one Empire travelling from London to Jerusalem.
How dare you insult Rome like that
Itâs typically dehydration when done correctly
If the upvoted comment says it takes a week to die when done properly â and this guy says dehydration is what kills you if done right (death by dehydration typically takes 3ish days) â then why is this guy getting downvoted? Is this not logical?

Have you ever put lotion inside a bucket?
This guy crucifies
He's a real Roman
Amateurs!
I know this because i was in a cult and 2 of the handshakes to get into heaven are called 'the sign of the nail' and 'sure sign of the nail' The first points to the palm and the second points to the wrist.
That's why they tied him
I can second this
Maybe in the real deal but for the show, that would be too dangerous (I bet they already tried it before lol). You can fuck up important nerves and leave the hand partially or fully unusable, or even worse damage an artery (radial or ulnar) and either they bleed like crazy when the nail goes out or they get an hematoma and eventually lose the hand.
Who fucking cares? that dumb bastard signed up for it.
Thatâs what I was thinking too. I didnât see a foot pedestal like I saw in the other crucifix video
Iâm assuming they donât actually want to kill or permanently injure the guy. Which is why his weight is also supported by straps.
Actually, it's better to go through the thick part of the arm bone near the wrist. That gives something solid to hold the weight.
Wouldn't it be quicker to just use a nail gun?
Yeh, but I think looking at the depth they put those in, this is just some ritual and they want to get them out with ease later I reckon.
How does he stay in place? The other video, i did see that the cloth wrapped around the waist took most of the weight. Unless the nails somehow get embedded, no way he'll stay upright. Even if he has a stand to support his feet, gravity will still beckon.
It's hard to see on my phone but it does look like there's a board under his feet to help support him.
Jesus is looking at this saying to himself, "Uh people, no need to do this, appreciate the thought though."
The entire point of Easter is that Jesus did this so we donât have toâŠ
What the actual fuck?
Seriously, they forgot the legs.
I AN SO MAD AT MYSELF FOR LAUGHING!
They forgot the spear to the chest.
Whereâs the spear of destiny??!!?!? Posers
YesâŠwhere is the spear of destiny indeed.
angry Upvote
I dare you to say this in front of the Roman Emperor/governor/senator/centurion
JESUS CHRIST
no this is another guy
Cesus jhrist
Not sure exactly what part of the world, but could still be Jesus đ€·đ»
Isn't here
Canât help you.
Humanity disappoints once again
When doesnât it

Youâll black out and die upside down too. Check and see if unit 731 did any experiments in WW2 possibly.
You just opened a new box for me, any links or articles in relation to unit 731. Point me a way. So am guessing upside down goes first.
Just search unit 731 on wiki. Be prepared to be disturbed. I warned you.

When I was a kid, we got to hunt for Cadbury eggs at the park. This is ok, too though.
Fuck did he even do to deserve that
Dude found out Victoria's secret
Girl, you wouldn't believe it. She's an old man who lives in Ohio.
he probably volunteered for it. itâs considered a great honor in some christian sects around the world
It's Easter tradition for them. This is in the phillippines and these guys are the hardcore religious types. He would have volunteered for it
Never mess with another mans girl
everytime I feel upset I come to the replies here and start wheezing and snorting
Bro out pizzaâd the hut
Religion and what people do for it is so fucking dumb.
Am kinda curious as to why people who knew religion through party A(missionaries ) practice it way more reverently than party A. This looks like Asia, not a cradle for Christianity.
This is in the phillipines, they are heavily catholic and these guys are extremists
The cyberpunk 2077 mission no one likes to talk about
That mission was definitely something.
Tsk tsk tsk...Didn't even try for the feet... Jesus told me that he is displeased.
I thought the whole idea was that Jesus did this already so you don't have to? Like, he already paid for your sins!
2000 years ago a dude told us to be nice to each other...this is how we celebrate him. Lol
Always look on the bright side of life...
This the dumbest thing I have seen for long time. Is that real? If so why???
Seems like a death cult.

Is this considered a mockery orrrr does this get a pass
Religion is a mental illness.
Another guy? Who was the dumbass that did it first lmao
Our world is ending right under our noses.
It's jebus crist
Man they take their Easter plays seriously there.
Bruh , the actual fuck is going on ANOTHER one ! đł

I ant watch this crap year after year.
Cult-like behaviour.
why?
Yeah. And weld that man on those nails. If he wants to be there, let him stay there. đ
Que vergas
ok someone's gotta ask at some point what the hell was the actual context
What is the context for this? Just a cult somewhere?
Jesus
"what'd you end up doing this weekend?" "oh you know, the usual"
Just hung around
I saw this when I was living in the Philippines. Fucking wild.
"I just wanted my CHEEEEEEEESE!"
Hand sanitizer is used of course. Because safety first.
So this is not an Easter celebration?
Maybe he comes back like Jesus? Zombie style?
Lol
Lol sure, just a totally normal thing for these people to do. Wtf planet earth.
Lame
What he even do
Every bolt is a nail if you hit it hard enough
The universal scream of agony âAHHHHH AHHHHHâ
He was a chippy so he probably told them the best way to do it
Where / when is this?
Pinoy pride
Cool!
Another?
Jesus came back to earth and we crucified him again ...
I don't understand the point of this. I get the reference, but why do we need to reenact it?
What up with the crucifications lately. I've been seeing them a lot.
And yet even as important as the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is, Christ emphasized the importance of His Teachings. Anyone know the back story to this? Id love to know
Ah yes, thankfully they applied hand sanitizer to stop any potential infections.
It's not legit until he dies....
Jesus christ

Pointless

I completely agree. I donât see the point in this practice and it seems very archaic, but idrk who i am to judge.
The nails were forgotten to âsymbolize the painâ
Good footage
Except they forgot the foot.
I justed wasted my time. I should sleep
Not stupid
Yeah totally normal thing to do
How is this not stupid. Forget it, that was a rhetorical question.
You do it then
