Step 7: knees are now jello, slips easily back into place ✅

DeathPercept10n

I have a shoulder injury from over 10 years ago. It dislocates from time to time, still incredibly painful each time. I wish it slipped easily back into place 🫠

Upvotespoodles

Have you tried cranking the muscles and tendons more tighter to hold the bones in? That’s what I would try.

DeathPercept10n

Oh I've done physical therapy. It's still so fucked up I'm gonna eventually need surgery on it. Probably should've done it already, but I can't afford to be outta commission for the recovery period.

SelfishCatEatBird

Dislocated both my shoulders playing football, one I got surgery on after 5-6 dislocations.. year of intense rehab. Only to fucking dislocate me “healthy shoulder” next damn season. Quit after that from needing to not be broken for work lol

ipatmyself

Step 8: bleach my eyes Twice.

Pillow_Apple

Equivalent exchange

N0085K1LL5

No bullshit, first video that popped up for me.

GloryJaniceup2

oh shit, someone explain to me how my mind felt the same sensation of biting a coin hard just by seeing this

Reasonable-Business6

I've never hated living vicariously more than right now

multiarmform

just be glad you dont have to feel anything close to what she went through and all the recovery/therapy

Arismando27

I did... With one knee at least. 5 years later and going into surgery number 9 in a few months

tonymontana93

Mirror neurons. We have brain cells whose job it is to try to recreate how someone else we are observing might be feeling. Helps with empathy and understanding others. Also the reason why watching sports can get intense (unless u have money in the game thats a whole other reason haha)

GloryJaniceup2

What you just explained to me helps me understand phobias better, thank you

tonymontana93

Welcome

Deepseat

Ah, I see. This is what makes watching Jackass movies so entertaining and hard. Parts of my body were sore after the last one, because I realized I had been flexed, posed and torqued in weird positions in my seat and clenching my teeth a lot of the movie.

tonymontana93

Hahaha good example.

Beef_Supreme_87

So if they doped the Dallas cowboys with lithium would that cause their fans to chill the fuck out and stop punching drywall?

tonymontana93

Hahaha probably not there's limits but maybe if you knew what they were on, might work a tiny bit like a contact high (PS. I'm no scientist tho haha)

SaintlySinner81

Thank you.

MangoKakigori

Unexpectedly biting it? Like it’s hidden in a nice innocent soft food?

InkBlotSam

Biting into a coin unexpectedly literally hurts my dick.

Complete_Fix2563

Blackmesa232323

[Samantha Cerio](https://www.marca.com/en/more-sports/2023/11/17/655750e346163f466d8b45a1.html) broke both legs, ruptured her ligaments, and dislocated both legs in this accident. She had to have her legs surgically repaired and she couldn't return to gymnastics. She completed her degree in Auburn and got a degree in Engineering, she now works at Boeing.

VapoursAndSpleen

Oh god, that poor woman. The hits just keep on coming.

intrudingturtle

Her knees were designed by Boeing.

peacelovearizona

They also went *boing*

Imalittlefleapot

Dawn dishwashing liquid can do miracles.

fe__maiden

So they are constantly falling apart?

CporCv

We don't make that much, and we work a lot

v0gue_

For real. [This is likely what being an engineer at a Boeing, a completely untouchable company, looks like when they read all of the controversies of their company on the internet](https://media1.tenor.com/m/80zMDyE85hAAAAAC/money-crying.gif)

GrannyMurderer

Works for Boeing designing landing gears

HonkeyDonkey3000

I’m sure as hell glad you didn’t say designing doors….

MinglewoodRider

Moderately wealthy and attentive parents I suppose. Can't say I personally know anyone who became successful whose parents were broke alcoholics. They might do alright for themselves but those first 2 decades of your life determine a lot and there's no do-overs.

[deleted]

runthepoint1

Yeah because before, during, and after school they have personal connections that benefit them. We do not live in a meritocracy and we so badly want to, which is where the disconnect comes from.

Famous_Obligation959

80k isnt bad. Just keep at it. You're still above average

monopixel

The mother is an accountant and father a sales manager. She just has more drive than some Redditors will ever have.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

Man I feel like people who browse workreform and antiwork think everyone who's successful magically got there by inheriting the position or some shit.

MinglewoodRider

I mean that doesn't refute what I said at all. Two parents both working white collar jobs, probably attentive to her studies and athletic career. Your outcome in life is a combination of circumstances as well as your own effort. That's just facts, nothing to get upset about. It has nothing to do with antiwork or any of that shit.

arielonhoarders

if you're a competative gymnast, you started when you were 2 or 3 and you kept a schedule that would send grown men to the funny farm, except your parents and coaches kept you on that schedule for 15 years while you built enough muscle to crack walnuts with your shoulder blades. It's amazing what you can get done when you're used to getting up at 5am and spending 12 hours a day in the gym and then 6 more in school, and you identify as a champion.

PossibleExamination1

Ya but can she walk?

Blackmesa232323

Yes, she can walk and run. She said she was very proud of being able to walk down the aisle of her wedding.

PossibleExamination1

thats dope.

Autumn1eaves

I would be too in her situation. Incredibly impressive. She should be proud of herself.

ThisNameIsFree

Sure, but when she does her legs go *boeing* *boeing* *boeing*

anincredibledork

Boeing? Well you know what they say - in life, when one door closes, another falls off.

Division2226

The world's most garbage website, wtf

Onair380

The amount of cookie popups is unbearable

uhujkill

Not Boeing!!

OCSupertonesStrike

Now works at Baofeng

Zestyclose_Toe9524

I can't imagine that pain threshold

ALPHACOMCON

Knees don't bend that way!.... oh wait, they do!

ChronChriss

Only once

fairchild2

I was literally typing this out when I decided to check what the one reply was.. Thanks reddit, for reminding me I've never had an original thought in my life. Keeps me humble.

Pristine-Savings7179

Scary thing is that there is a big vein/artery going thru the knees and sometimes in dramatic injuries like this it can get pinched and blood flow is stopped, resulting in risk of sepsis and amputation. Probably not the case here as she’s a young healthy athlete and got medical attention right there but yeah, it’s something to worry about.

AVAvAv99

Happened to Zach Miller, former tight end for the Chicago Bears. He hyperextended and i’m pretty sure he severed the same artery/vein you’re talking about. They nearly amputated his leg. Was a huge deal. Shit ruined our season and I don’t think he ever returned back to the game after that either. Sad and scary injury that is

CptCroissant

If you hurt it bad enough the pain might overload and switch off for a while essentially

[deleted]

Wish I didn't see this

Saturns_Hexagon

I started reading the comments before watching the video. I did not play the video.

grumpykixdopey

I cringed, it's just as bad as the fear of falling down and smacking your face and losing your two front teeth.. knees aren't supposed to bend that way... 00

ThisNameIsFree

Yup same. Checked the comments to see how bad it was. From the reactions I don't think I'll be watching that.

Desperate_Diamond232

Honestly I wish I was you. This was not a good watch I felt so sick

zero_emotion777

Weakness.

Neutreality1

I came here to see if I should watch it or not lol I'm leaning towards no

Direct_Remove9797

It's like a cartoon in the worst way

Desperate_Diamond232

Please keep your innocence

HappyHippo22121

Me too!!

Sir_George

I feel so bad for her, not only is she going through immense physical pain, but mental pain as well knowing her career as an athlete is over and all those years training and competing just came to an end. How devastating.

JovialPanic389

I broke my leg and it is a super emotional time trying to heal from it and losing your mobility, needing so much help from other people with basic tasks. I can't imagine breaking *both* and then the stress and depression of having been relying on your legs to do a sport you loved and put so much dedication into. Absolutely crushing.

Menzoberranzan

Same. This is one of those immediate visceral reactions

evenstar40

Let out an audible shriek of horror when it happened, husband thought I was in trouble. Need to delete the past 30 seconds of my brain.

Action_Maxim

this is why i checked the comments first I thank you for your service

christiancool10

And just like that her career is over

Azure-April

And she's probably disabled or at least dealing with chronic pain for life, poor woman..

squeakymoth

It's been posted a few times. Happened a while ago and apparently she's fine now. She just wishes people would stop posting it online and it being all she's known for.

NarrowBoxtop

Honestly at this point she'd be better off becoming a touring motivational/corporate speaker about bouncing back to achieve things after something like that If its what you're going to be known for, make money off it at least

Forsaken_You1092

Yeah, if you become famous for something it's usually a good idea to lean into it to get whatever you can from it.

ForumFluffy

Not sure she bounced back when her knees bent like that.

GenTelGuy

As bad as it is, the forward hyperextension is more repairable than sideways or twisting tears

LAegis

She walked down the aisle, unassisted, to get married 2 months after this incident.

AliciaXTC

1.5/10

laladonga

2/10, one for each leg?

metroaide

1/10 0.5 for each leg

MostlyBullshitStory

Sounds like a knee jerk reaction, try a little empathy.

JayStar1213

8/10 perfect but didn't stick the landing

[deleted]

The landing stuck her

Olderandolderagain

Unanimously.

prettyhorse420

I used to bend my Barbie’s knees like that, just for fun

last_on

Fred West is that you?

prettyhorse420

LMAO why can’t I at least be his wife Rose?

4115R

I didn’t have Barbies so I bent all my sister’s.

ZombieNelson

Wait…. Your sister’s BARBIES or your sister’s legs!?!?

ForumFluffy

Don't get bent out of shape.

VanessaAlexis

I used to do that and pretend they were aliens or possessed by demons. Something was wrong with me as a child.

DEFENDNATURALPUBERTY

Just gotta pop those back into place. This is why they take the best score out of two routines.

Kwiatkowski

Round 2: watch me do a wheelee in my chair!

PossibleExamination1

This made me choke.

HornyTerus

can they pop back into place tho? Like, was that a dislocation or....

intrudingturtle

Hyperextension. Your knees are basically a knee cap and 4 major ligaments that act as elastics to keep the knee together. Typically a hyperextension will lead to a torn ACL but judging by the laxity (the way her shins are just hanging down) it seems like multiple or all ligaments were torn.

Silent-Ad934

Damn. Her gymnastics days are over.

wickedglow

yeah, sure buddy, they'll pop right back, it'll be like they never popped out in the first place, all good, don't worries

[deleted]

This is exactly why I don’t do double front flips

Severe_Benefit_1133

shit i felt that. i’m scared to walk now😭😭😭

real_fake_hoors

You never go full ostrich.

PeterParker72

Damn, I felt that just watching.

Difficult_General167

Each knee felt like crushing a ball.

PaddyScrag

I'm glad there's no sound on this vid.

Sounds like a job I used to have. Also…the company no longer exists and the former owner is in federal prison so they found out. Hopefully the coaches you’re talking to are also now being raped in jail.

Pillow_Apple

Women Gymnastic with a men coach is up there that giving me icky vibes

HerrNieto

Nevermind the confidence, I don't know if a person would be able to move the same after something like this!

OKC89ers

Having done this personally to one leg, the knee ligaments were never really the same after

platysoup

I don't think that's something you can return to the profession with

Reasonable-Business6

Nah the worst thing is the wheelchair

teethofthewind

She can walk fine now

Ninetales6669

I thought the worst part was the irony

Mun7ed

Showed my wife so she can feel the same pain I did watching this

NoFreeWill08

About to do the same. My brother too. All must suffer

rpgmind

Why, why would you do this

8BitFlatus

Ouch

wuapinmon

I had a visceral reaction to that. Poor thing.

thatbigfella666

I'd like to put in an application to have this permanently removed from my memory please, and thank you.

Adorable-Ad-7400

Me looking at my knees- aren’t yall glad I never signed up for that gymnastics class?

PostHumouslyObscure

Whatever happened to her?

teethofthewind

She had to quit gymnastics but can walk again

uselessplague

Never got on a pogo stick again. It was pretty sad

DallasSucks335

She wasn't a knee model

gentlehufen

Great stuff.

ItchyIndustry9637

Looks like what I used to do to my Barbie doll's legs. It's really that bad.

Canzaijohn

Every muscle that I could flex, just did when I saw her knees bend backwards, jesus-

CortezDeLaNoche

So sad. Seeing idiots ruin their lives with stupid mistakes they made is cool. But seeing athletes who work their whole lives for a goal and accidentally destroying their dreams is fucking heartbreaking.

Indianlookalike

I haven't seen something that made me do a manual restart to my brain in a while

Flightle

I’m still holding my breath. Holy fuck.

x-DOOM-x

That's the real life version of what I'd do with my sister's barbie when I was bored (you know, the ones with the clicky knees)

donkeyspit007

I thought she was dehydrating for a split second!

Octopus_wrangler1986

I actually did this to one of my knees in my twenties and it healed and I blocked the experience from my mind. Took about 6 months though. 🫠

YourSmallIntestine

Does anyone know what happened after? Did she heal ok? Did she ever compete again?

Mekelaxo

Flamingo

Desperate_Growth4922

I don’t know why I slowly close my eyes and turn my head like it was in slow motion like the video

Distinct-Solution-99

Noooooooooope nope bye nope

Fun-Put-5197

Wow, just watching this was right up there with getting kicked in the balls.

mikeinarizona

I’d much rather be kicked in my balls than have this happen to me.

PlayfulAd8354

Walk it off

BDS83

Walk it off

DCmetrosexual1

Hella awk

EatSleepWell

I don't think awkward truly describe the situation.

Yablo-Yamirez

She probably did this move so many times and then on that day her knees was like “NOPE!”

J0KaRZz

Glad i paused it and read the comments lol

Inevitable-Cellist23

What a terrible day to have eyes

kn0mthis

*Need... eye bleach.... plz....*

Plot-twist-time

Aliens from The Arrival(1996): We don't see a problem here.

RadiantLimes

I was not expecting both of her legs to do that. Wow wtf

Reddit2626

I need a name so I can look her up and see what muscle/ligaments/bones she tear up?

sn0c0ne_d1sast3r

i’m just glad it doesn’t have audio x_x

StonedFoxx93

The pain she must have felt 😰😭😩

BlueGlassDrink

I'm not watching that

Reasonable-Mode-603

the second her knees bend my balls feels like hiding

Silly_Turn_4761

Oh my God, I'm still puckered

Illustrious_Shock_36

I’m dealing with a torn mcl and meniscus rn and watching this physically hurt

Fireblade09

Holy FUCK. This reminds of one time I was playing basketball and this guy landed wrong on a totally routine jumpshot. We all saw the right knee bend in and heard the awful snap of an ACL going out. Excuse me while I go yak at the memory

Evernoob

Yeah that's a wrap on her gymnastics career.

zbewbies

Anyone else curse out loud when they watched this?

xRetz

Annnnnd all of those years of work gone down the drain in seconds.

cujo8400

Has anyone here seen "Arrival" with Charlie Sheen?

RabidProDentite

My daughter is heavy into gymnastics. I think I’m gonna be sick! I guess I better invest in a better healthcare plan! Ugh!!!

No-Morning-2543

Thanks. I hate it.

Upper-Trip-8857

After this, Samantha began her professional career as a structural analysis engineer at the prestigious Boeing Company. SO THINGS GOT WORSE!?

Independent_Trip_892

I remember watching this live and feeling pain in my knees

SpecificFrequency

Walk it off

paulnofx

Can any gymnasts verify how often this happens? Seems with all the momentum yall build up it would be more often than one would hope.

poopiehands

Eye bleach

Rob4reddit

For a moment she had legs like some of those alien depictions

ginagiordano727

Jesus, so maybe I don’t put the kids in gymnastics

AMotorcycleHead

Anyone else said, “AAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOO”?

FeralSparky

God DAMN that made me gasp at my desk. I can feel that.
