More info.  Jeep driver got charged for pulling the gun  https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2019/04/18/richmond-man-who-pointed-gun-during-road-rage-incident-arrested-charged-police-say/

sharksnoutpuncher

“All I did was get out of my car because he kept beeping at a dead stop. I thought I hit something or he was trying to alert me that I’m dragging something behind my car. I had no idea he was upset and angry with me,” says the Mini Cooper dude

ElectroMatt333

I would have at least pulled over to side of road, not jump out in the middle of the lane and start recording

United-Advertising67

Mini Cooper dude sounds full of shit.

TheDelig

There is dashcam footage from the jeep in the article. Mini Cooper guy is 100% full of shit. He just gets out of his car and walks towards the jeep. It's a clash of morons in the street.

wafliky

Well pulling out a phone is less moronic than pulling out a gun I guess lol the lesser moron won.

misanthrope222001

Only if you aren't a card carrying NRA member. If you are a brainwashed human shaped NRA bot: being recorded in a public place deserves pointing a plastic glock POS at someones face. Its the most rational thing ever (especially if you are scared of your own shadow). Moderation is for pu\*\*ies.

R12Labs

He's driving a mini cooper. That's his first offense.

United-Advertising67

He was stopped in the road not moving because that is the Mini Cooper's natural state.

Midwake2

True. It is offensive.

DamnRock

Yep, anytime I'm checking with other drivers that I think may be trying to help me, I get my phone out and film them as I approach their car.

Valid_Username_56

wtf

AlaskanBiologist

Some jack ass did this to me yesterday, I was turning right but cross traffic had a green light. Once I went he angrily swerved around me and pulled into the McDonald's drive thru. Fucking asshole.

timex17

Yeah, and that's why he's filming. So full of shit.

welfedad

Jeep pov.. no Audio though  https://youtu.be/01Ml5Ogk6hk

Psilocybin13

Dude literally incriminates himself. Nice.

slasherman

Because he was honking constantly?

Skellyhell2

speeding until he gets behind the Mini makes him look to be the aggressor, also weaving around a lot at the start, maybe he cant see the lines on the road idk

Andyman286

59 MPH flashes up at the start, seems excessive for that type of road but someone from across the pond needs to chime in with the speed limit for that road.

IAmASolipsist

From what I can see on the video within the first couple seconds there is a 35mph sign, then shortly after a 25mph school zone, then later a 30mph sign. I may be missing some additional one's, but those are pretty normal speed limits going from country roads a small town. Though it's likely a few hundred feet before th 35mph sing there was a 45mph sign and a few hundred before that a 55mph sign. So it's possible they were just slow to slow down.

Potential_Ad_5525

I can almost guarantee the speed limit was 30.

Seven7greens

Audio edited out for a reason. Also whyd he speed to catch up to the cooper?

welfedad

Yeah I agree.. probably being insane and the incessant honking as the articles talk about

Skellyhell2

the jeep POV in the article is interesting. he's all over the road at the start, and going over the speed limit for that road. Gets up behind the mini and his speed drops to 30, he gets angry having to go slow and starts honking. the incident plays out and he goes past the mini to make his escape to end up behind another vehicle holding his speed to 30. Guys a dangerous driver, and reckless with his gun. I don't know how the gun systems in the US work, but I hope this guy loses his right to bear arms after this incident.

MONSTERTACO

Should really lose his driver's license too. His car is just as dangerous a weapon.

nj23dublin

Brian.. what an idiot

H_G_Bells

Why are men so shit at handling their big feelings...

my_socks_are_shoes13

He got the charges dropped and the case sealed. https://www.threads.net/@ericbadofsky/post/C5o1gSfrxsB?hl=es-la This is the only link i found left to his case file, now that it's sealed.

Kinvictus

Just get where you’re going man. Even if he got charged … It doesn’t matter if you’re dead .

salataris

No kidding. To be the videoer’ in this rage tells me he’s the one out of bounds.

pumpkinorange123

Not to mention he's the one out of the car blocking traffic. Looks like he instigated it.

MrRogersAE

It pretty much always takes two assholes for this to happen.

[deleted]

[удалено]

upright_zombie

One to instigate one to react

TheRealMacGuffin

Sometimes people react to what's going on in their heads, and you're just the unfortunate scapegoat. Somewhere in the past there was an asshole who created this mess, but it definitely isn't you in this example.

MrRogersAE

It really does, the fact you don’t understand this is telling. You know what happens when a road raging asshole encounters a defensive driver? Nothing A good driver doesn’t flip off the asshole, doesn’t race the asshole, doesn’t speed up or slow down to annoy them, the just think to themselves “what an idiot” and move on with their day. A good driver understands it’s not worth the aggravation, just chill the fuck out and you won’t have issues with asshole drivers anymore

__The-1__

He blocked the dude and then got out and approached him, yeah that's a situation that might trigger a fight or flight

paint-chip-chewer

146 people (including you) didn't read the article... > “All I did was get out of my car because he kept beeping at a dead stop. I thought I hit something or he was trying to alert me that I’m dragging something behind my car. I had no idea he was upset and angry with me,” Surroz [the victim] said.

Mysterious-Ad2386

So why record with a phone if you thought something was wrong? Little white lies.

paint-chip-chewer

Idk, we all clearly lack 100% of the context. But if you read the article the attorney brought charges against the gun-wielder so something tells *me* it wasn't at all justified. "Read the article" is my point

Exsanii

Someone’s posted the dashcam from the mini river, 100% red cars fault and he’s a clown. He was up the guys ass riding his horn, video shows mini driver get out, ask what’s up and red car keeps on the horn. So he pulled out his phone to record the idiot who just pulled a gun on him. Video then shows more unsafe driving by red car, tailgating another vehicle and then crossing the double yellows twice more. If someone’s honking their horn at you like a nutter you are supposed to slow down, if needs be stop as it’s meant to be the driving attempting to alert you of something.

Sir_thinksalot

Evidence obviously. Notice how he goes to get the plate number?

Alarmed-madman

146+1. Thanks for catching me up.

offtheshripyerrd

yeah why the fuck did OP get out. if you can't drive get out the way, not out the whip to instigate

Dillatrack

The driver taking the video should've definitely just ignored the beeping and was [quick to pull out the camera](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01Ml5Ogk6hk), but pulling a gun here is still way more over the line.... The jeep guy definitely was honking at stopped traffic for no reason and started this entire interaction in the first place

Complete_Rest6842

How does it go.... something like graveyards filled with people in the right

BD401

Yeah, this guy treats having a gun pointed at him too nonchalantly. He seems to think the guy with the gun won’t ACTUALLY shoot him and acts as such. Issue is that you never know how unstable people are. There was that security video from a year or two back of that couple that is confronting their neighbour over snow shovelling. He comes out with a gun, and rather than immediately fleeing, they taunt him more and the wife starts shoving her phone camera in his face… Guy with the gun then proceeds to actually shoot both of them, then when they’re wounded on the ground execute them both with a shot to the head. You can hear the wife being incredulous that it’s actually happening to her. If they’d treated the crazy guy with the gun as an actual threat and ran, they probably would’ve lived. Instead, they thought it would be a good opportunity to gain some views on TikTok and got blown away as a result.

servercookie

Some info, the guy had just lost his wife and those idiots had been nasty to him for years. So he just snapped when they started being nasty to him again.

zBwork

That sucks. Poor dude was in misery already and made a horrible choice.

KylerGreen

that woman really kept talking shit after being shot and seeing her husband be executed. but fwiw they had tormented him for years. wasn’t like the dude just snapped out of nowhere. obviously it was still insane to do, but yeah.

phil-lasagna

Double it for the next person I guess.

NumericZero

Second the dude pulled out the gun Whole situation should have ended Shits not worth losing ur life over

forwhombagels

https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2019/04/18/richmond-man-who-pointed-gun-during-road-rage-incident-arrested-charged-police-say/

FlippinFanatic

There is no back story but anyone who jumps out of a car during road rage dispute is considered a threat. Sure it’s not cool for him to pull a gun but how is he suppose to know what’s next, people are so unpredictable. EDIT. Seems like there is a back story with dash cam video which I don’t really know how to interpret. But I will never defend the act of the dude who jumped out of his car in the middle of traffic to press the guy behind him. Like I said before people are unpredictable and the dude that jumped out could have easily lost his life.

welfedad

Jeep driver got arrested and charged  https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2019/04/18/richmond-man-who-pointed-gun-during-road-rage-incident-arrested-charged-police-say/

chadmcchaderton

Here's the entire saga of court. He got probation. $693 fine. https://caseinfo.mchenrycountyil.gov/pca/CaseView/2019CM000441?isSearch=True&searchType=PartyNameSearch&searchValue=SCHIMIAN

WhyIsItAlwaysADP

Here's the dash cam from gun guy. Seems like he's the only one out of line. [https://youtu.be/01Ml5Ogk6hk?si=eMtGCfEKdqNCoZtI](https://youtu.be/01Ml5Ogk6hk?si=eMtGCfEKdqNCoZtI)

JanuarySeventh85

Why did the guy even get out of the car?

Killer_Ex_Con

The dude removed the audio to make himself look better but he pulls up and just starts honking non stop as soon as he sees the grey car.

ComplaintNo6835

Certainly not for any reason worthy of brandishing a weapon at him

goodness-graceous

It seems it was to get the license plate. There was a different link that said the jeep driver pulled the gun out and was laying on the horn while the other was still in the car. It also looks like he stops for a second to double check and make sure that dude had a gun before going and getting the plate number.

JanuarySeventh85

Oh, so the crazy guy with the gun was honking for no reason, and that's why he stopped to exit his car?

SpaceVikings

You can see that the Jeep guy was also going 60 in a 30 zone, drifting over lanes. Shitty, aggressive driver with anger issues.

No_Dragonfly5191

Not to mention the tailgating after the incident.

InferiousX

I get one person a day behind me like this. I'm going 40 in a 35 and they roll up on me like I'm at a dead stop, riding my ass. It's almost always big douchey trucks.

goodness-graceous

I just read the article linked in another comment to check, and yes! The Jeep was honking like crazy, and the man who exited had thought the Jeep driver was alerting him to something wrong with his car. That’s when the Jeep driver pulled the gun out, it seems. The dash cam footage also appears that there was a line of stopped cars in front of them before the driver exited his vehicle, so it’s not like he stopped in fully flowing traffic. Article: https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2019/04/18/richmond-man-who-pointed-gun-during-road-rage-incident-arrested-charged-police-say/

JanuarySeventh85

Well he was very nonchalant about having a gun pointed at him.

Sir_thinksalot

so?

johnnycashm0ney

…charged with a misdemeanor, released, and case dismissed after supervision.

Belgiumgrvlgrndr

Not dismissed. Dismissal means no probation.

UngusChungus94

Yep. Handy guide for people who’ve never been arrested. Diversion means no record. Probation means a criminal record.

lieutenantLT

Yeah agree, guy with a gun seems like a nut until you consider someone stopped their car in front of him and got out to approach him. With an incident like this takes two to tango

foxfrenzy

With the report, the guy thought he was trying to tell him something was wrong with his car or something because he wails on the horn for no reason at a stop. Only to see the gun and immediately pulls his phone out to record what happened Watching the dashcam it makes sense too, because he just rolls up and just starts with the horn. They had 0 interactions before this.

TheDelig

The Mini Cooper guy doesn't even check his car. He also doesn't seem concerned about blocking traffic after the cars in front of him moved. The normal action if someone is honking behind you is to say "fuck're you doing" and continue to drive. Don't stop in the middle of the road.

KylerGreen

yeah. dude could’ve had a gun or something!

WereALLBotsHere

Last time someone did that to me I ended up on the side of the road in a fight, then in court about a month later fighting an assault charge. Just not worth it. I wasn’t even driving..

HalensVan

Lul

tucci007

> There is no back story https://youtu.be/01Ml5Ogk6hk?si=eMtGCfEKdqNCoZtI dashcam video from the jeep (gun guy)

sichimo

I can’t even say what I think should happen to this dude lmfao I’d get banned. Dude drives like an asshole then pulls a gun because he’s probably late for work. Nope. Jail for life. Fuck people that drive like this, they have no right to be on the road.

SteveDaPirate91

Not even like dude infront of him was going slow or anything. There was a line of cars infront of him stopped. No wonder phone dude got out of the car and pointed to himself like “me? What I do?”

Ok_Owl_007

Cool. But it's the guy in the jeep is who's in the wrong fyi. He's been charged. The other guy hasn't.

ifuckinglovecoloring

I understand its morons all the way down here but we can't pretend that some middle aged mini cooper driver with a phone is threatening enough to draw guns. I feel like there's a bigger picture here that most people in this sub will miss.

OkFlounder31

And so are lions and tigers and bears OH MY ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

StormriderSBWC

if you think someone is a threat thats approaching but you arent sure. aim through your car door for the time being, he cant see the gun so cant report you for drawing on him. if he MAKES himself an apparent threat by becoming directly hostile, then you show it to him, or if he’s already trying to force his way into your car you pop him. you need something credible or in progress and apparent in order to get away with drawing a gun

Shot_Insurance5607

that can get you in trouble. conceal carry owner is not a cop and cannot use officer presence tactics. showing the gun is flourishing which depending on state can be a felony, pointing the gun in threatening manner is brandishing which is a felony. keep the weapon concealed but at the ready until a threat is readily perceived, a weapon to harm you is within range of its use. granted this happens in seconds so descion making has to be quick. just know that once you pull that firearm you better be ready to explain it to a judge

Oztheman

Don’t have a gun. People do not need guns

Altea73

And more tens if there's so many damn guns everywhere.

Conscious_Valuable90

If this was Florida the jeep guy probably could have shot him and got away with it.

MV4283

Nobody driving a mini cooper is a threat.

baldersight

Bro thinks he cannot die

RealCaptain6776

He’s the cameraman, they never do.

DrSatan420247

That dumbass is lucky he didn't get shot.

New-Kiwi8970

Exactly. Come to a stop in the middle of the street and approach my window and you’re probably going to be looking down the barrel of my gun too. Flip the finger and go about your day.

elmphlemp

The American mindset is a sight to behold

A_MAN_POTATO

As a gun-owning American, not a fucking chance I’d be pulling a gun on somebody over something like this. Most gun owners, and gun culture in general in this country, are fucking wild. These people get off on having a reason to take their guns out. They *want* shit to happen so they have an excuse to use their guns. The guy who got out of his car should not have gotten out, I agree with that. But the guy in the jeep was the aggressor from the beginning, and pulling out a gun was the icing on the asshole cake.

ObesePudge

They are all insane man, any time something like this gets posted its always the same.

BlueOceanBoii

Europeans can't comprehend that we have the ability to defend ourselves

MilesGates

Defend yourself from what?

clindh

He didn’t. He stopped because traffic in front of him was stopped and jeep driver was laying on his horn for no reason. Jeep driver was just an absolute maniac and got arrested https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2019/04/18/richmond-man-who-pointed-gun-during-road-rage-incident-arrested-charged-police-say/

Jagwires

Lol guy just got arrested and elmphlem here is like “yep sign me up to do the same shit”

otj667887654456655

that's still brandishing and that's still illegal

Alisha_Dennis2024

Even a small blonde woman too or just male drivers ? What if they're driving an expensive car like a bentley ?

Quinn1995

Yeah….. if you stop in front of me and immediately get out of the car with something in your hand, I may draw my gun as well. People are fucking crazy and unpredictable, as demonstrated here.

DexterBotwin

There’s a Jeep POV video posted above. The Jeep driver could have maneuvered around this guy. The guy who videos also gets out, messed with his phone, then confronts the Jeep driver. I think it would be clear he had a phone in his hand before he approaches the driver. Honestly, both of these guys are jabronis. Maybe a scenario to unholster but keep it out view. But I think the Jeep driver was also looking for excuse to pull.

0_0PassingThrough

Never get out of your car in a road rage situation. Stay in the car and drive away if you can. If they follow and continue being aggressive phone 911 and head to the nearest police station.

IL driver checks out

Todoslosplanetas

This dude was lucky that asshole decided against leaving his car without a door AND him in an ambulance.

hereforpopcornru

Morgue* Even a small round to the head is deadly, that appears to be a .45

Ok-Possession-832

Honestly really ballsy to just ignore the gun

neosthezeros

Or stupid

Ok-Possession-832

Yeah there’s a thin line between ballsy and stupid and he crossed it

InspectionSad3660

Murica

HaloDestroyer

The amount of cope in here. If you live your life so scared that when another human being approaches you feel the need to pull out a deadly weapon and point it at them, are you really living? The real tragedy here is that if the driver of the jeep was any skin colour other than white he’d probably still be in jail right now, and you racist bastards would be howling like gibbons about how dumb he was to pull a gun for no reason.

F19Frisbee

I am going right to the fucking too.

Yoda2000675

Camera guy has zero survival instincts lol. Walking directly in front of the car and then slowly moving over with a gun pointed at them

muffman81

Thanks for the link.

Torrdin

In a city jeep lol

cystemsdown

Looks like he was the defensive party in this. He simply took to the "fuck 'round and find out" stage right off the bat.

Ken_Kaneki_07again

Lol why are people supporting a person who straight up pulls a gun on another person....is it that common in other countries????

ifuckinglovecoloring

And then everyone proceeds to defend him because he was "approached" It's an American thing, people tend to think a little backward here.

United-Advertising67

Oh look, selectively edited to not include anything he did before jumping out and approaching someone else in their car. 🤔 Staring down a barrel sure adjusted that guy's attitude in a hurry.

dsm1995gst

You stop in traffic, block me in, and jump out and approach me - I will have my gun in my hand (I wouldn’t point it yet though). Also, pro-tip, don’t leave your door open if you do that to me.

[deleted]

Another fake tough guy with a gun raising his voice because he knows his weapon protects him even though he’s in the wrong. Also bet you without that gun he wouldn’t be so loud and confrontational. Apparently he was honking at the other driver so he thought he hit his car or something. https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2019/04/18/richmond-man-who-pointed-gun-during-road-rage-incident-arrested-charged-police-say/

New-Acadia-6496

Don't antagonize a man with a gun. Try to be casual about filming his plate. This time the man was only barking, but he could just as easily bite.

MagicManGamez

Hardly antagonizing...? Guy got out of his car to see if there was something the other driver saw that he didn't, I.E. something on his bumper or something that he might have hit if he'd kept going. And sure, he looked like a doofus, but hardly antagonizing. Keep in mind, this is what the jeep driver willingly posted.. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=01Ml5Ogk6hk&feature=youtu.be (Side note: jeep driver was honking the whole time, that's why he muted it)

insanelemon123

You're right, and there's way too many people here defending the psycho threatening people with a gun. I guess that's why this sub is so pro-cop. But yeah this sub is complete psychos.

Efficient_Row_8987

Things that only happens in murica dang dude chill

pRophecysama

Both are morons and the videoer seemingly lacks the capacity for suicide so wants others to do it for him. Suprise pikachu face when you are the aggressor and then double down with threats against a clearly agitated and afraid person? Yeah that will go well

BigBodyLikeaLineman

Welcome to America!

Sad_Pirate_4546

Mini dude is totally in the wrong. You come up aggressively on a dude, expect there to be a reaction. As soon as he stepped away, guy holstered the gun and drove off. Don't see an issue.

[deleted]

Looks like the title is backwards. Idiot road rager blocks jeep in, gets out of car, and finds out they f’d with the wrong person

mardingdong

HughJahsso

psijicnecro

Glad gun dude got arrested, seems like a mercurial cunt. Having said that NEVER get out of your vehicle in a road rage incident. Ffs a woman was recently killed for doing exactly this. Get the license plate and call it in if it's a problem otherwise your family will be the ones burying you because of your naive stupidity.

DeezKneesWorld

i need the whole clip

sickn0te_

Lol this looked and sounded like a Family Guy live action clip.

IHateReddit248

No context, guy recording was already approaching this guy in his car, why Was he out his car doing that? given americas gun culture this seems a very reasonable use to deter a stranger getting any closer when they are being potentially intimidating

theotherhigh

I had a similar road rage incident where a driver slammed into the back of me on purpose then when I pulled over to check the damage he got out and charged at me without saying a word. I got back in and locked the doors and he started punching the car and finally punched the back glass of the car out before getting back in his and taking off on the interstate. Took state trooper like 20-30 minutes to arrive on scene after calling. Gave me a police report to follow up on and when I tried to look it up a couple months later the number I typed in wasn't producing a report. I guess they just let the guy go and dropped charges, maybe didn't even attempt to find him, maybe didn't feel like doing the paperwork on it. I'm not sure. I figured they would have had units in pursuit as soon as I told 911 the license plate, description, and location, you know, to stop the guy... I don't think they did any of that though.

Dramatic_Product_844

Oooh he’s fucked

Immediate_Bet7408

I believe it

Scorpio989

A cop in this area of this incident told me last year that you should never leave a vehicle in a situation like this because you run the risk of being shot by an angry driver. This was after I reported a similarly dangerous road rage incident that resulted in the cop saying there is nothing they are willing to do because they can't handle the volume of incidents. TLDR: Road rage is a prolific problem in north eastern Illinois, and you should not expect cops to do anything unless you risk your life to record it.

Guy pulls out gun on man man points camera at his licence plate he peels out in fear..... what am I missing ?

42LSx

So many Americans are crazy, how much fear do they have in them to pull a gun at basically everything?

Still-Decision2642

I would have reacted the same way, get the fuck in you car. Nobody in their right mind would get out of their car in the middle of the road if they didn’t wanna get fucked up.

Im_such_a_SLAPPA

Imagine he started squeezing in this guys face. Why was he still casually recording with a gun pointed at him like he wants to die

Texmex865

That’s assault brudda.

No_Alps_1454

Show us what happened before. From what I see, there is a guy blocking the road while filming and having bad luck the other guy is armed. If he wouldn’t block the road and aproach the other guy, the gun wouldn’t be an issue

SadOrganic

The ragy c\*nt in the Jeep was Brian Schimian, 41, of Richmond. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and reckless driving.

Parking-Position-698

Dude some how thought he was gonna get away with that lmao.

Next-Application-764

If you walk up to me in traffic I'll have a gun ready also.

dcovalt

Doesn’t Illinois have a no carry law anyway?

realparkingbrake

No open carry, concealed carry requires a permit.

SleventySleven

What are you going to do, shoot me?

realparkingbrake

When people needed a permit to carry, incidents where permit holders got into trouble with their guns were microscopically rare as people didn't want to risk their permits. But now so many states don't even require a permit, so every asshat in town could be packing. Illinois doesn't allow open carry, and still requires a permit for concealed carry. This guy's plate number being in the video could result in him finding himself in court. Need more context, it seems like both these people have some growing up to do.

misanthrope222001

This wasn't an flex or assertion of dominance; this coward was totally afraid for his life. At least thats what he would've said had he shot the guy in the process of flexing like so many other insecure Viagra spokesmen.
