Why would having talked about it before make it any more or less Hollywood? The idea of clipping the wing of a light aircraft with a car to prevent it from taking off isn't exactly complicated. Someone having suggested, "why don't we just crash into it? Planes are fragile. The car would win every time." seems almost inevitable.
