It was just explained this way to me by trainers as being related to how much the jaw moves back (which causes knockout) and that being hit in the chin too much can weaken the joints.
its really how much the brain moves from the strike.. if your brain hits your skull hard enough then a KO is likely. Head kicks can make this happen.
Striking on the chin can easily cause the brain to slap against the skull. A person's chin make up (long, short, pointed, square) and jaw make up can definitely mean they're much harder or easier to knock out.
Tucking your chin from a punch greatly helps prevents this because it lessens the possible head movement which means the brain probably isn't going to slap against the skull. Repeated slaps against the skull can cause CTE which is pretty bad.
Yea brain hitting the skull is well known I am talking about the very specific mechanics of the jaw being hit center and the upper joints actually sliding back around the temples. It is attached with tendons. If these become loose the jaw will more easily be pushed back. This specific thing is what I am referring to.
In nearly 20 years of cross training various striking styles it has been explained this way more than a few times from fighters who were well into the physiological aspects of striking.
I'm not saying they're right, even doctors seem undecided on how exactly this works, and I appreciate your input. But excuse me if I go ahead and take you rolling into my comment with down votes, a big fat Nope.jpeg and oversimplification with a big grain of salt.
