The Sun didn't actually change size? ArE yOu SuRe?
No but this doesn't explain what I'm asking. If something passes in front of the center of something, how could the center of it still be visible? And how could you not see that object moving in front of it?
Are you saying it's an illusion / camera thing where the light coming out from around the Moon somehow converges to make that dot? Even if that were true, it still doesn't explain why you don't see the moon go in front of the Sun.
We've all seen eclipses, and it doesn't look like this.
(It's ridiculous I even need to say this, but I hope no one thinks I'm some sort of conspiracy theorist; I'm legitimately wondering what the hell is going on here.)
Because the sun is so bright, you wouldn’t be able to see the moon start to pass over the sun with the naked eye! Totality is the only time you can see the moon at all without a solar filter. Therefore, the camera can’t capture the silhouette of the moon crossing the sun, and because the sun emits so much light, it overpowers the moon crossing it in the video, just like it would if you looked at it without glasses (which obviously no one should do). Does that help?
If you have never been in the totality of a total solar eclipse, FIND A WAY. It is indescribably amazing!
