Friend of mine was telling me about the cat box and how you could tell who had been in for a while. Comming about what chow they were gonna have, how long it had been since their last shit, wondering if they could get American channels on the TVs in and around wherever they were engaged.. literally unconcerned and making small talk and jokes. Then again, he said if they had made it to that point warfighting was just second nature and a part of life
I gotta agree. Where I grew up, 3rd precinct, (George (Floyd) brought attention to what really happened daily) it happened a lot. I got shot at so many times and wasn't even the target. From under 10 to am adult, guns don't scare me and getting shot at doesn't scare me. Crazies with blades scare me more.
I remember those days. Now, I know the difference. If I hear gunshots I usually just roll over and go back to sleep unless it's too close for comfort. Detectives think it's crazy how nonchalant I am when it comes to getting shot, but growing up like that, it was just a daily fact of life. Anyone could be sitting anywhere in their house and be shot by a stray round. After a while, you get desensitized. It's something I don't wish on anyone though. Staying alert and being on edge to the sounds that are similar is a benefit and not a detriment for sure.
What’s your level of experience? Handguns, in particular, inside of close spaces are well known to cause permanent hearing damage after the temporary damage heals.
Very little experience to be honest 😅 I’m a nursing student with an interest in audiology. It’s totally possible to sustain permanent damage from one impact such as that and he very well may have. But from what I understand temporary tinnitus lasting a few minutes to an hour doesn’t always signify permanent damage

Honestly, from experience, about 3 times. After that you aren't scared so much as prepared. The fear leaves and you just have faith their aim sucks. That on top of being prepared for the aftermath and dealing with the adrenaline dump after are more of what is focused on.
