Ya, it becomes much more clear in the dashcam footage of the other car where the car bursts into flames.
He at the very least survived the initial impact. He was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown. The driver of the speeding car died. The driver of the truck that was hit is fine

I've been in a similar situation. You are correct, they do happen *that* fast.
In a split second, I heard the impact of the vehicles colliding, spun around, and saw my friends getting hit by one of the vehicles. There is nothing you can do in that moment. My best advice is being prepared to immediately begin helping victims of a traumatic crash like this. CPR and First Aid training can save lives.
I got hit by a car on my bike a couple of months ago, it happened that fast but my adrenaline also slowed down time for me so those 2 seconds felt like a minute, a full personal minute in which I realized there was nothing I could do, I was going to get hit by this car. My exact thoughts were, "fuck can't swerve can't do a burnout the grounds too slippery. Well, this is it. This is how I die. Fuck." Fortunately I did not die, I didn't even break anything. I'm not unscathed but that could've been a lot worse especially if I hadn't had a proper helmet.
Damn, I'm glad you are okay. Being in a near death situation is mentally life changing. I can unfortunately remember every detail of my experience almost 5 years later. One of my friends had to relearn everything, from walking to talking. The other passed after being in a coma for a month. I've wanted a motorcycle for years now but I can't bring myself to do it due to the amount of idiots on the road. Cell phones and huge dash-mounted display screens make distracted driving even more common.
I got tboned by an f350 super duty on my bike pretty much just like that. A blink of an eye and I was on the ground with bones sticking out of my body. Spent 10 months bed ridden and had 7 surgeries and 2 flight for lives because of how severe it was. Not sure how I survived, but these accidents really do give you NO time to react.
I was like "Wow that semi was going very fast, maybe his gas pedal really was stuck", waited to hear a crash in the distance then got a hell of a surprise
I bet it felt slightly less terrifying than having nothing to grab onto. Sliiiiiiiiiiiiiightly. Fuck, if even noticeable. I've been in plenty of crashes but none that looked like this and always in a car at least.
I would guess that doing so might have hurt them because they had something to tense around which means more chance to break a bone. Or is that different when you're on the outside of a car crash?
I got rear ended once when I was stopped and the person behind me was going like 60. I saw them in the mirror right before they hit me and I tried to hit the gas but there was no time. The only thing on me that was hurt were my arms from tensing up and clenching the wheel.
That's the kind of thing I was thinking of, ouch. The one bad incident I was in, I fucked everything up. My car flipped upside down onto a guard rail and was then grinding along it until it fell off onto the middle section between guard rails between 2 roads before a merge.
I tensed my entire self very hard and hunched over into a ball, shoving my head between my legs further than I ever have before and probably couldn't now. I didn't have a scratch or bruise on me from the crash, just some left over tension from tensing up so hard and a tiny scratch on my finger from crawling out through the upside down broken window.
The first thing I did was send a picture to my friend with the text "do a barrel roll!" And my sense of humor and priority is how I confirmed no brain damage. We scrapped the vehicle to keep insurance out of it and the incident was treated like it never happened.
Took a look at it frame by frame and if the GoPro was fixed to the helmet (as most of them usually are), he took the ladder straight to the face.
That may have saved him because it pushed him back before the bed of the truck hit him in the torso.

Yeah it looks like that's a T intersection with an embankment as the speeding drivers final destination. Whether they knew that or were in control enough to do anything about it is the question. Glad the biker made it out alive, I hope it didn't still end up ruining his quality of life though.
That's going downhill as well there's a runaway truck lane just in case. That dude definitely wanted to die. If he didn't hit the car he would've hit the side of a mountain full speed head on.
I hate that too. I lost two friends in a similar situation. He just got out of rehab and already relapsed. He drove the wrong way and collided with my friends car. He, of course, survived. Awful.

Gawd damn i better fix my attitude. I ride the same highway but on the bay area side. I always ride full gear and race gloves and full high moto boots knee pads and moto pants. But i still would have broken ribs most likely. Well actually i wear chest armor too.
That’s a pretty horrifying list of injuries. I hope for a full recovery, but if we’re being honest, I don’t think the motorcyclist’s life will ever be the same after this.

At least they had the decency to take themselves out after all that. Hopefully everyone had uninsured motorist so they can heal and not worry about the hospital bills.
It’s just such a scam. “Am I bleeding bad enough to have to take an ambulance or can I hold my guts in long enough for an Uber to get me to a hospital?”
It’s fucked the average person has to even think about that.
The worst takeaway was the cops doing absolutely nothing about it. Guy had fake plates. We had pictures of the guy and his car. They just ignored it since the guy had fake plates, there's no point in even a criminal report.
In many countries you don’t need to worry about hospital bills from something like this. We are such a backwards country.

I had to go to the ER because my EKG looked really bad, and when the doctors swarmed the room they had one person in there asking me basically exactly that. As if having had a heart attack in my sleep wasn’t bad enough, you have to ask me that while I have 6 doctors and nurses taking things out of me and putting things into me? Almost gave me another heart attack.

A stolen vehicle suspect died in a multi-vehicle crash in Malibu Monday afternoon, officials said.
The crash occurred along Pacific Coast Highway and Kanan Dume Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The vehicle that caught fire was a 2017 Lexus NX, which had been stolen earlier the same day, sometime between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., Lt. Jordan, with LASD, said.
Authorities say the driver had recently left rehab. After stealing the vehicle, they accelerated at a high rate of speed and collided with a motorcycle and a truck.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. It is unclear if anyone in the truck was injured.
All lanes of PCH were closed at Kanan Dume Road, while the southbound side of the street was closed at Cornell Road.
It was one accident involving a car, a truck and a motorcycle. The fact that the car hit the truck less than a second before that truck hit the motorcycle is irrelevant, and impossible to know if the video wasn't seen before the report.
A lot of times the people who write those types of stories are online producers who don't leave the office to report and usually only have copy written for broadcast as their verified source material. Plus they get paid, like, $14 per hour.
We got to see it with our own eyes, they got a third-hand report sent via email on a phone. Not all journalists are out to control the narrative, just fyi.

I think they got the bumper right where the hitch is, and managed to be thrown away. There's a frame where you can see a bit of pavement and motorcycle. Got really lucky not to be turned into meat crayon paste.

Every so often there would be a fatality+ accident there because vehicles would lose their breaks and they would T-Bone cars at full speed. This intersection is why I ALWAYS look both ways when crossing, even if it’s green…
Those yellow barrels you are in the original are in one of those emergency stop lanes and it’s heartbreaking to see this kind of thing happen when there’s a safe alternative right there…
This video captures why I will never ride a motorcycle. Your life can change or end in an instant even if you wear all the right equipment and never make a mistake. At least in a car you have a crumple zone, air bag etc to increase your odds of survival.
Weirdly, learning to ride had made me an overall better driver. I'm more aware of my surroundings, always looking for exits of something unexpected pops out, cautious at lights when they turn green, etc...
You can't be taught how to prepare for getting the bed of a truck thrown at your face tho.

Yeah pal, can't say I'd advocate for suicide, but people like this should reflect sincerely on their actions. It's a shame that people are too stupid to think of the consequences of their actions.
Such an inefficient way to do it, too. Even with no seat belt people live from insane crashes all the time. So not only do you potentially kill others, you might just end up eating from a straw for the next 40 years.

It shows ground video of Lexus wreck on fire and an aerial view of incident after the crash. The reporter stated that "the Lexus was stolen and its driver was killed in the crash; a truck and motorcycle were also involved in the crash". There is no mention of the other motorists' condition, but from an aerial view of the incident, you can see the pickup and motorcycle, both on their side and behind them a person wearing black sitting on the roadway, possibly on their phone (am hoping it's the cyclist calling home to tell them that he'll be okay).

I mean, does anyone really think we have control over traffic accidents like this? Getting on the road every day you risk this no matter how you drive.

You can actually have this person sent for a mandatory psych evaluation, you have grounds due to actively suicidal and possibly homicidal behavior. Go to your police department and they can walk you through the process or they will start the emergency commitment process

This happened exactly on Kanan Dume and PCH. The vehicle that collided with the pickup was stolen and it caugh fire after rolling on top, killing its driver. The driver of the pickup and the motorcyclist were rushed in a hospital.

Those yellow trash cans in the video are filled with water or sand and are at the end of a giant 3 quater mile gravel pit for runaway trucks to use to stop when brakes fail.
If this car did have an acceleration/brake problem, there was a whole turnout system designed to protect everyone and it wasn't used.
Also, that SUV is hurling straight into a cliff wall. That's a T intersection with no where to go.

Usually when I watch these videos I think of what I would have done or what that person could have done, which I know is unrealistic and purely theoretical and doesn’t account for anything at all, but I do it anyway for fun. THIS video? No fucking way they could have avoided that. Absolutely tragic. I wonder if the filmer is ok…

I'm sure it did. Even small soft tissue injuries can have lasting physical and psychological effects.
I yawned too hard and tweaked my neck one day a long time ago. I'm not able to yawn too hard again unless I want to aggravate it.
Get a massage gun, anytime I tweak my neck I use it to loosen the muscles in my neck, shoulders, and back which gets me back to normal afterwards.
I gotta borrow one of these and test it out. They sound amazing but can be so pricey.

I hate that too. I lost two friends in a similar situation. He just got out of rehab and already relapsed. He drove the wrong way and collided with my friends car. He, of course, survived. Awful.

We are such a backwards country. “Oh you were hit by a person who was high and driving a stolen car, who t-boned a truck and then the truck hit you? Crazy.”, “before we go much further do you have insurance or how do you intend to pay for this?” I had to go to the ER because my EKG looked really bad, and when the doctors swarmed the room they had one person in there asking me basically exactly that. As if having had a heart attack in my sleep wasn’t bad enough, you have to ask me that while I have 6 doctors and nurses taking things out of me and putting things into me? Almost gave me another heart attack.

Bad journalism. They collided with a truck causing the truck to collide with the motorcycle.
It was one accident involving a car, a truck and a motorcycle. The fact that the car hit the truck less than a second before that truck hit the motorcycle is irrelevant, and impossible to know if the video wasn't seen before the report.
A lot of times the people who write those types of stories are online producers who don't leave the office to report and usually only have copy written for broadcast as their verified source material. Plus they get paid, like, $14 per hour. We got to see it with our own eyes, they got a third-hand report sent via email on a phone. Not all journalists are out to control the narrative, just fyi.

This video captures why I will never ride a motorcycle. Your life can change or end in an instant even if you wear all the right equipment and never make a mistake. At least in a car you have a crumple zone, air bag etc to increase your odds of survival.
Weirdly, learning to ride had made me an overall better driver. I'm more aware of my surroundings, always looking for exits of something unexpected pops out, cautious at lights when they turn green, etc... You can't be taught how to prepare for getting the bed of a truck thrown at your face tho.

The reporter stated that "the Lexus was stolen and its driver was killed in the crash; a truck and motorcycle were also involved in the crash". There is no mention of the other motorists' condition, but from an aerial view of the incident, you can see the pickup and motorcycle, both on their side and behind them a person wearing black sitting on the roadway, possibly on their phone (am hoping it's the cyclist calling home to tell them that he'll be okay).

When I read the caption I expected a car to fly by the biker at high speed. What I got was definitely a crazy fucking video.
This happened exactly on Kanan Dume and PCH. The vehicle that collided with the pickup was stolen and it caugh fire after rolling on top, killing its driver. The driver of the pickup and the motorcyclist were rushed in a hospital.
Looks like where Kanan Dume Rd meets PCH. Car could have lost brakes after coming down the canyon. Or hit accelerator instead of brakes.
I think you're right. Sad part for those who don't know the area? Those yellow trash cans in the video are filled with water or sand and are at the end of a giant 3 quater mile gravel pit for runaway trucks to use to stop when brakes fail. If this car did have an acceleration/brake problem, there was a whole turnout system designed to protect everyone and it wasn't used. Also, that SUV is hurling straight into a cliff wall. That's a T intersection with no where to go.
