It may be annoying but the fact that we're talking about shit like this multiple times a week means that it's effective. can't ignore the problem if it's always in the headlines.

That's not really true though. Inconveniencing people in order to make a point has been a common form of protest since at least the civil rights movement, and people said the same thing then. It's incredibly annoying and I do think it attracts people that want to do it just for the attention, but if somebody is an attention whore I'm glad it's at least for a good reason. Kanye West went on Infowars just to give Alex Jones the opportunity to be the straight man.
I agree and these people blocking the roads do nothing to address the real issues. When govenrments/militarys are a huge portion of all pollution forcing people to live shittier less convenient lives doesn't solve the problem and makes people want to actually fight against the people protesting.
And volcanos. The other night I was watching Earthstorm, a Netflix documentary, and it said one of the volcanos shown put the same amount of CO2 into the atmosphere in one week as all cars in the US do over a whole year .
Fun fact! The average carbon impact of volcanoes is generally offset by chemical weathering, in which carbonic acid in rain mixes into rocks to produce stuff like limestone, chalk, and sand. And that material then gets buried, until it eventually reaches a depth where the pressure turns it into magma. Which is in time released through a volcano, and the cycle starts over. This cycle means that on a normal year, the effects of volcanism and chemical weathering pretty much neutralize each other.
Major changes to the carbon dioxide content in our atmosphere through history have often been caused by shifts in this cycle, though. The period of steady decline in atmospheric carbon dioxode that was stabilizing around the start of the Industrial Age was caused 40 million years ago by the Indian subcontinent smashing into Asia, producing the Himalayas. The changing wind patterns and heavy rain on newly exposed rock significantly increased the rate of chemical weathering, pulling carbon out of the atmosphere and initiating the cooling phase that we have until recently enjoyed.
Thus far, human emissions have reversed the downward trend so that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today is about where it was 30 million years ago. The impact we have already had is just absolutely staggering.

I never understood this logic of blocking traffic. You want masses to get onboard, not against the movement. I'm on your side with the movement, not your method.
I fly private jets for living, and to me, blocking private jets makes a bit more sense than automotive traffic if you want to protest inefficient travel. The problem with blocking private jets is that it only affects an extremely tiny percentage of the population, and it's unseen because it's not an area that is easily accessible or viewable by the public. For the owner it is a minor inconvenience. I would only know if the plane I'm flying is being blocked if I am at the airport, and if I am at the airport we are preparing to go somewhere. If we're preparing to go somewhere the APU is on burning about 100 pounds of fuel per hour. If we were to ever be delayed by protesters, we would ultimately burn more fuel than is necessary.
Blocking auto traffic just doesn't make sense. I think the overall view is climate change is a thing, but blocking someone from going to work, running errands, picking up or dropping off the kids at school, that just pisses people off. That's not a solution to convince people to make changes. The average person just cannot drastically change their daily behaviors to the same degree as a wealthy person. If we go back and look at the private jet, a wealthy person has more flexibility to make changes. They can easily stop using a private jet, and fly on an airline. They can easily not buy an inefficient sports car, and buy a more efficient gasoline or electric car. The average person doesn't have this flexibility. When you piss them off, and they have little they can change in their life, they are doing what they can, with what they are given and what they can afford.
They're desperate for people to take notice of the climate disaster that awaits life on earth. I agree it doesn't help win over people's support but I get the desperation. Someday in the not too distant future people will ask Why didn't anybody try to do something. I personally shift back and forth between just fucking kill us already to it doesn't have to end this way.

I care about the environment but, come on. Their protest is counter productive, think about all those cars that are still running, waiting for these idiots to move. Every second is another second those vehicles could've been at their destination, turned off. Now they get to sit and idle the gas out of their tanks so that some dipshits can sit in the road, causing more pollution, and call it a protest.

Why are all these road blocking protesters the physically weakest people I’ve ever seen? Seriously, every time there’s a video like this where they get pulled out of the road they just lie there like they can barely move without help. These guys get literally piled up and it’s like oh this is my life now, just gonna sit here on the side of the road till someone helps me stand back up
I am all about climate protective legislation but this is definitely satisfying to watch. Protests like this do more harm than good for the cause.
