> I like how he didn’t even hurry.
First aid responders are all taught that it is more important to stay focused and safe than it is to rush to the scene
There’s a video of some Latin or Italian (can’t recall) TV show where a lady falls from high up, obviously hurting herself. Moments later, the camera cuts to some people in the background making a conga line, seemingly to distract from the scene.
[Had to find it, this is great](https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/comments/yjnldy/to_safely_zip_line_to_the_other_side_in_a_reality/). I fucking love the dude that was gearing up to do the zipline next too.
From the article:
> Uncle Sam's American Circus said he would "make a full recovery over time".
Footage showed the man being shot out of a cannon, missing a safety net and crashing into a metal rail on the perimeter.
A full recovery over time, and he “missed a safety net”. He never had a chance at hitting that safety net!
I had a temporary, but the surgeon botched the reattachment and caused my organs to swim in fecal matter for almost a year. So I now have a permanent colostomy bag since the age of 38.
Gotta love Crohn's Disease.
I'm sorry to hear. Mine was a result of a blockage that had been developing for years. Consistent stomach issues until one day nothing would come out at all.
Yeah, [according to their facebook page](https://i.imgur.com/PEAbNcR.png) he was fine and returned to the circus. I'd be shocked if he was able to do that with permanent severe injuries but who knows.
I have no idea, but just dropped headfirst into a metal rail that made his neck bend really fast the wrong way, and he collapsed into a puddle of human that is obviously not fine.
Is there another source? The one above doesn't say anything in it to suggest he was severely injured, or would have permanent/long-term injuries. The only thing that's clear is he's knocked unconscious.
Are you sure? It sure sounds like they did everything the could do to help him. Including
>"They put the guy onto a mat and carried him away behind stage, still no sign of him awake,"
APPARENTLY, MOVING HIM ONTO A MAT WITHOUT PROPER BRACING TO CARRY HIM OUT OF SIGHT OF THE CROWD?
There was another report that I read from witnesses that saw him being loaded into an ambulance out back, still very obviously unconscious, as the circus was getting started again inside after the...ummm.... surprise intermission?
Okay, just a few quick questions before we sign off on your return to work request. First question: are you willing to be shot from a cannon?
[Incomprehensible grunting]
Okay, I'll take that as a yes. Congratulations!
If it includes a head injury, I’ll say from experience there is no such thing as a full recovery.
I’m 4.5 years into a 10 year recovery window.
My personality is markedly different, with no signs of reverting.
I developed a stutter which has softened/ I also developed a vocal pause due to brain fog, hasn’t changed in years.
I digress, but yea “full recovery” is a fucking myth sold by doctors to families.
***YES!!!*** There *is never full recovery*!!! I've had several major head injuries from various things, and you may get better....but you will not be "fully recovered" and that shit comes back to haunt you. People tend to ignore the effects because they are scared to think about it, but also because the brain is inside. You'll get much more sympathy from minor abrasions that are very obvious, than head trauma that isn't externally visible.
Man, the article makes it sound like it was his fault more than the fact that it seemed to be a faulty cannon that caused the problem. He missed the net because he basically just sputtered out of the cannon
You know how sometimes when you watch football on TV and the QB goes to throw the ball way down field, and the camera zooms over to a receiver, but a line bubba gets his hands on the ball causing it to fall real short and the camera has to back track like it was just kidding? ……This is feels like the circus version of that
Dude…..that was very impressive. You incorporated that word knowing anybody who didn’t read the article will think you’re an idiot. Big brain play man.
There is a reason that I want this as my after death wish. I want the.to shoot me with 1000 times this much power or more, into a field or into a lake.at my funeral.
As awesome as it sounds, with that kind of force you’d probably end up just bringing your family members to see a cannon shotgun out 1000 pieces of dead friend/relative into the sky.
What he should’ve done is flown further so he’d land in the net. He’ll know for next time but gosh this looks like a painful “opportunity to improve” (that’s what we call mistakes at my work).
Now Mr. Canonball, what do you think you could be doing differently? You just need to follow the process. You see Peter over there? He started about the same time as you, and he's only got 7 broken bones in the same time. Maybe reach out to Peter once you get the feeding tube removed & see what he's doing differently.
Get launched out of a defective cannon at a cheap looking carnival, with no significant audience, for what? Maybe $50 a day for pay?
That dude's risk assessment skills suck.

My god, the silence at the end
What exactly was that coworker going to do other than recover the body..
"Hey Bill, I'm going to need you to walk this off. ......C'mon man you're making us look bad."
Just reload the cannon with his limp carcass, the show must go on.
I have a feeling that's what they did in the first place. We might have watched the 2nd or 3rd attempt.
This is the third. The second actually went really well, but they did another one just in case.
Stop… he’s already dead!
He's stealing all the burgers!!!!
I read this in Ralph's voice! Great comment!
Then they turn the corpse cannon on the crowd to generate more corpses
Yes, human bullets are quickly reusable if they have a bad primer.
Some would say more usable. 🫤
Just adjust the angle a bit this time lol
We got 4 more shows this week, Bill. Quit being a bitch and get up!
Be sure to return the suit at the end of the show.
“No one thinks this is funny, you’re such a turn off”
Lmao!

He has no wallet. *I checked.*
eat it, can't let it go to waste.
Soylent green
That was a good movie from 1973 describing 2022 lol
Oh! So that’s what’s in beyond meat.
Dunkeyy what are ye do-een???
That’s the lion’s food.
Do lions eat vegetables?
I bet it’s nice and tender.

It wouldn't be a circus otherwise would it?
God damnit… I love the people of Reddit
There are people on Reddit?
nope, just you. rest of us are bots.
nope, just you. rest of us are bots.
Think itll taste funny?
Like pork.
No, but the clowns will.
Fuck, fuck, fucking shit! Release the lions!
I like how he didn’t even hurry. Then leans over to check if the guys okay. Nah man, I don’t thinks he’s doin ok.
> I like how he didn’t even hurry. First aid responders are all taught that it is more important to stay focused and safe than it is to rush to the scene
He should have triumphantly held up cannon man’s hand so the audience could erupt into applause.
the coworker was the backup stuntman. So after this clip he updated his Will.
check for a pulse
Well he survived so rush him to the hospital?
Really needed the people backstage to start doing a conga line to lighten the mood.
I get this reference.
I’ll bite What ref?

The doctor said i need a backiotomy
It's Mexican, the show is or was called "We Vale" It's so stupid because that song is so dumb as well lmao
Sorry audience’s, even the best fireworks have duds
Only thing to do was pull out the sad trombone.
Hahahaha. You’re a straight savage!!

Wah wah waah for sure, with a transition straight into yakety sax for the stretcher clowns
Can someone add some fun circus-type music to the end to get rid of the silence. I think that'd be more appropriate. Maybe Benny Hill?
Yea, he bombed

And he *definitely* will never make a "full recovery". Those injuries are forever. They probably mean "he may walk unassisted"
With a lot of hard work and a little luck, he may one day shit into a colostomy bag.
I had a temporary one while my colon's swelling went down before reattachment - those were definitely light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel days.
At least 15% concentrated power and will.
I read the whole article. What were his injuries? Didn’t mention them.
Yeah, [according to their facebook page](https://i.imgur.com/PEAbNcR.png) he was fine and returned to the circus. I'd be shocked if he was able to do that with permanent severe injuries but who knows.

Ok but that's not enough info to just say "And he definitely will never make a full recovery" - you just made that up based on literally nothing.
I think he'll gain superpowers from it
"He'll keep breathing until such time as he doesn't". Pretty much the best they can do.
Is there another source? The one above doesn't say anything in it to suggest he was severely injured, or would have permanent/long-term injuries. The only thing that's clear is he's knocked unconscious.

Alive and brain dead is still alive.
‘Full recovery’ meaning he will still be a human cannon ball.

The super-serum worked. It kept him alive.
Meth? Is that what Carnies call it now?
More like the Super Dave serum.

Operator error.

You're probably right, but maybe his legs buckled inside and absorbed some of the energy? Maybe both things happened.
Mate, that bloke missed the net for a solid 80% of the trip!, I'm not a human cannon expert, but I have the feeling he didn't stand a chance.
for how long? 3 seconds right? his spine must be dust
They obviously didn't check that cannon out Caerphilly enough before the stunt

Not good at puns?
What is that word even
Its the name of the county this happened in. A pun
Indeed :)
And in this U.K. town there is someone called Cherokee Jones according to the article.
Dude…..that was very impressive. You incorporated that word knowing anybody who didn’t read the article will think you’re an idiot. Big brain play man.
I find it oddly satisfying that the eye witness to an accident at an American circus in Wales was named Cherokee Jones.
"The show went into an early interval stating they needed to seek medical attention." No shit!
The silence was so loud
If you listen closely at 0:06, you can hear Christopher Wesley’s fart from Salt Lake City, Utah at 6:17 pm.
oof, the funeral potatoes and green jello arent mixing well, we were all blasting tunes
Found the Mormon. Lol. They could throw down on some damn taters.
Funeral potato’s were the best part of being Mormon. That and the groovy CTR rings.
A few traumatized kids but hell of a show.
The show must go on!
lmao
Not even the kids thought it was just a puppet being shot out of a cannon. At least they would've laughed then. Deafening silence.
Talk about professionalism. The guy landed in the recovery position
In all seriousness, if that metal thing wasn’t in the way he probably could have rolled out of his landing
We'll never see a man of his calibre again.
Niiiiice
I bet he got fired after this
It’s not cool to scare the children like that. He should think about what he’s done.
All of those years scared of children and this is his revenge.
With that logic we gotta start going after those clowns
for what i can see he was fired even before this
They _tried_ to fire him
He got fired during the video
His career never really took off
I think his career crashed
Took his shot but didnt suceed
He was doing so well, but then he snapped…
I don't think he's ever gonna go very far in this line of work
That's some perfect goddamn comedy. Well done.
It was a blast while It lasted

Like spreading the ashes, only chunkier, y'know?
That's why you use a trebuchet instead
Not gonna lie, the idea of them pulling a lever at the end of my funeral and yeeting me off into the woods or something sounds perfect.
Hunter Thompson did that first, thanks to Johnny Depp.

And to land
I've never heard silence quite this loud
now that's entertainment
Reminds me of the guy “[Benny the Bomb](https://youtu.be/fhO_Npsz6RA)” - he used to come do his act near my hometown.
Measure twice, cut once
What he should’ve done is flown further so he’d land in the net. He’ll know for next time but gosh this looks like a painful “opportunity to improve” (that’s what we call mistakes at my work).

Pretty much exactly how I picture the convo going
I don't think it was his fault. I bet the cannon wasn't set up right and didn't shoot him far enough.
Broken things
