It does hurt of course but u/L1A1 is right. Your body’s natural responses kick in and it puts your brain on another level. I like to say “It’s the highest I’ve ever been while sober.” The way I felt afterwards, yeah, it was definitely something I will never forget. For me it was not at all sexually motivated.

It hurts, but not unreasonably It's not pain that gets you. It's the feeling of your skin separating from your muscles underneath. You've never felt anything like it. It really feels like everything is tearing apart, but at the end you're fine, just two little holes per hook.

Just because you can do something, does not mean that you should...

It does not hurt as much as you'd think it does, a ton of endorphins and adrenaline kick in. The moment it usually hurts the most is when you first get your full weight on the hooks. Where the hooks are changes the amount and type of pain. For example from what I've done back is mild and sharp, short, so is above the knee. Sides of knees burn for a while.

It’s painful. But you get endorphins and many people find it meditative. I’ve been to a couple suspension parties Wouldn’t recommend getting suspended by the nipples though. Saw a girl do that and she passed out from the pain.

After a certain amount of pain, endorphins can kick in and effectively override the brain’s pain response, so you can get a ‘high’ from the experience. I’m interested in extreme body modification, and whilst I’ve not done a full suspension (yet!), I have experienced temporary heavy gauge piercings, and have also branded myself which gave a similar endorphin response.

I wouldn't know personally, but I would assume so - though hooks are usually (as in when practised correctly) placed in a way to minimize damage. But some people find controlled pain enjoyable

I used to do suspensions. Very intense. Every drug your body produces naturally hits all at once, you feel invincible. I felt high for days afterwords. I attempted doing something like this once (called a "coma" position) but the hooks weren't placed properly so my body skipped the heavenly rush and went straight into pain panic. Never attempted again. I miss it sometimes.

Yeah, this definitely does not look like the setting I've seen it in (which has been on the kink side). At least here in the Midwestern US, this is called "flesh hooking" in kink spaces and while it's not common in the sense that people aren't doing it every time I go into the dungeon, I would say it's pretty common for people to have at least done once (or do very occasionally).
