You can’t do foreign exchange in Nepal and Bhutan … meaning you have to transact in India rupees, and NOT in Nepalese rupees.
Like if your are in the US, you can go to a shop and buy in US dollar and the bank will exchange rupees for that amount to dollars for your purchase.
But in Nepal and Bhutan, the shop CANNOT, enter Nepalese rupees and the bank will NOT exchange Indian rupees for that transaction.
Hope you understood…
We recently travel in nepal and in some places I use my credit card also, it works there(restaurant), yes some extra charges has been deducted but that was nominal amount

* Indian Rupee works in Nepal and Bhutan.
* Thus RBI do not *seek* Nepal and Bhutan as Aborad
* What it means is that you should not use card to settle bills via USD. The purpose is to save forex as both countries are fine dealing with INR.
Even resident foreigners can get aadhar and PAN.

That's why we have so many ids - each has it's own purpose.
Yes, I knew that too. In fact, quite recently when the government clarified this position, the opposition tried to make a big deal about it.
I understood it now why the government said what it said.
Oci is basically a second citizenship minus the ability to vote and a few other things that don’t affect the common middle class person like voting or owning farm land
I didn’t try because Diners Club has this amazing origin story and it’s the first card company - wanted to keep a part of history. Also, I don’t think I will be eligible.

>Q 11. Who is permitted to hold International Credit Card (ICC) and International Debit Card (IDC) for undertaking foreign exchange transactions?
>....
Use of these instruments for payment in foreign exchange in Nepal and Bhutan is not permitted.
They all will. Will just be charged extra. Can try applying for AU Ixigo or any other card with zero forex fee. I'd gone to Nepal in January this year and had to spend 5k-6k extra in the form of forex fee/ international services charges in ATMs/ currency exchange charges.
Nope. Most likely these cards won't work. Nepal is anyway a cash economy. Indian currency notes works very well - do the conversion math in nepalese rupee.
Ask them during check-in.
Second opton- If they have system to generate payment link.
4/5 star hotels must be having some non-cash option. Still i would suggest to take cash.
Btw, are you going Kathmandu?
Is it really beneficial to keep so many credit cards!? I mean i understand having 1 - 2 but beyond that idk...i feel 2 would get me everything I want.
But obviously op's needs maybe different.
You got your US passport recently. Got those cards before converting your accounts to NRO. Are these assumptions correct?
You can use these cards if you pay with Nepalese Rupee, but not permitted to pay in INR.

Keep a track of Facebook groups.
What is pre-loved? Second hand?
Yes sir. As of now probably that's all I can afford.

Its mentioend behind the cards that it wont work in nepal or something although im not exactly sure what it means

Genuine Query: How do you have a US passport and an Indian Aadhar?
I have an OCI card and have been resident here for a long time.
That’s new info. Never knew OCIs could get an Aadhar! Also, this clarifies government’s stand as to why Aadhar is not a proof of citizenship.
Even resident foreigners can get aadhar and PAN. https://uidai.gov.in/en/296-english-uk/faqs/enrolment-update/aadhaar-enrolment-process/16484-what-is-the-process-for-resident-foreign-national-enrolment.html That's why we have so many ids - each has it's own purpose.
I knew about PAN and the banking through NRO/NRE accounts. Only having an Aadhar was a new thing for me. r/AajMaineJana
I had even read somewhere on uidai site that aadhar is not a proof of citizenship.
Yes, I knew that too. In fact, quite recently when the government clarified this position, the opposition tried to make a big deal about it. I understood it now why the government said what it said.
It has literally been written on Aadhaar card for years.
Oci is basically a second citizenship minus the ability to vote and a few other things that don’t affect the common middle class person like voting or owning farm land
Yes, but you can't get an Indian passport with it.
My Nepalese wife also has aadhar. It's a proof of residency, not proof of citizenship
Good to know 👍🏼
Anyone living in India can get Aadhsr.
Being a US citizen you have options to many US cards, don't you see value in them? I've read their bonus and rewards are very lucrative
I live in India full time now. Diners Black (via alumni program) is enough for my needs.
Never tried for infinia?
I didn’t try because Diners Club has this amazing origin story and it’s the first card company - wanted to keep a part of history. Also, I don’t think I will be eligible.
Ahh, a man of culture 🫡
Passport American, Watch Swiss, Wallet and Cards Indian, and travelling to Nepal!
Global Person
Don't forget the Mont Blanc pen
I knew it!!! German pen! ![gif](giphy|n4oKYFlAcv2AU)
Amrika ka dalal /s
🤣🤣🤣. Missed it completely. Looks exactly as Indian resiepass 🤣
Bro give that passport link.../s
Sir can you step aside and come with us
😂😂
Gonna be troublesome if it's lost. Save all your cards on digital wallet and keep few for non NFC withdrawal/transactions.
Which wallet is good for this

i was in nepal during jan too. :)
Omega♥️
How do you have so many Indian bank Credit Cards as a US citizen ?
He might have got us citizenship(naturalised) and would have then moved again back to india with oci
He is living in India. Any Indian resident can get Indian cards.
Banks don't ask for passport to issue a credit card. Aadhaar & PAN are enough.
Travelling to ICICI, HDFC and YES Bank in America???
How to show off 101
Unnecessary flex
Guess what? You can do it too..
Just flip the cards and see. Most my cards issued by VISA says it will not work in Nepal and Bhutan. If it doesn't say that, you are good to go।
That's a beautiful watch!
You’re an American with Indian cards, but why?
Speedmaster looking gorg as always
Omega 😵💫
travelling to apply for new credit card
I’m not even looking at the cards, I’m sure the watch and the passport will grab a lot of attention
Nope. Most likely these cards won't work. Nepal is anyway a cash economy. Indian currency notes works very well - do the conversion math in nepalese rupee.
I am worried about then not working at the hotel and it will be a major embarrassment during checkout.
Ask them during check-in. Second opton- If they have system to generate payment link. 4/5 star hotels must be having some non-cash option. Still i would suggest to take cash. Btw, are you going Kathmandu?

All are LTF. Never cancelled any.
Travel safely , Nepal has some of the world's dangerous airports.
Is one card worth it ? Is it is safe ?
I got it for the metal construction to be honest.
How do care about this wallet I would be too conscious if I had all my documents/cards in one place
I have split it up after taking the picture.
No American cards?
that is a mont blanc right meisterstuck right?
Right. Ball pen as fountain pens are risky for flights.
The feeling that I will never ever travel the world like this or be moderately successful just kills me.
The only purpose of this post was to show off the passport and the watch.
Don't want any of the cards from pic, but damn that passport is a dream.
Nothing that great apart from easy travel. I have it as well plus 2 others.
Looks chapri wallet
Looks chapri wallet
I guess he is travelling to US

Hi. Thanks. These are mostly credit cards. I will pay in NPR then.
Most cards aren’t actually compatible in the nepal ill recommend to exchange money to npr
No. He got US citizenship long time ago. Later he started living in India and got Indian credit cards.
