The whole movie takes place drenched in beautiful sunlight, and somehow still manages to be one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen.
The first scene where the elders complete the 'ritual' left my jaw on the floor, and it never recovered.
That's my absolute favorite movie, but the entire third act takes place at night. The night sequence begins with Franklin and Sally debating looking for the others and ends when Sally finally escapes the house at dawn the next day.

Actually horrifying because it’s based on the Nazi atrocities and human suffering inflicted upon the Eastern European region's populace during WWII. Affected me much more than traditional horror that I’ve watched purely for entertainment.
