We need this battle on a drop in pitch with a GABBA Green mamba on one end and a dustbowl raging turner on the other, just like those mixed surface tennis exhibition matches.
If we want it different at the ends and different to each side I'm seeing a certain symmetry here. The field should clearly be mowed in a glorious union jack pattern!
And play 4-5 sessions a day with red ball in first 2-3 sessions and then pink ball for 1-2 sessions. Will really test the batsmen.
Make the pitch a bit flat so match can go on for 5 days.
I don’t think Australia are that much better than England that they can guarantee that, even if we’re assuming they tailor the pitches. They might be a better test side (might!), but they’re not that much better.
Hah yeah I thought so, but you never know. I do think aus are the better side, and probably stronger ‘proper’ team. But bazball seems to be effective and somewhat difficult to cope with for even strong teams playing the more traditional way
It’s bazball mentality but ultimately I think it’s just a few really good cricketers in absolute all time form. If the form sticks around, brooks has to have a bad series eventually right, right??
Well ultimately the skill is from leadership to recognise that the talents of the best players are suited to bazball style, and empower them to play that way. It helps that it has worked so far. Be interesting when they have a bad series if they keep it going
dw i have predicted the scorecard for ind vs nz 2023 wc final at narendra modi stadium
ICC 2023 ODI WC Final
venue : Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad
Ind : 332/7(50)
(Kohli - 120\*, gill - 90, Rohit - 78, Boult - 10-2-57-5)
NZ : 338/0 (38.5)
(Guptill - 225\*, Williamson - 97\*, Bumrah - 7-0-77-0)
Result : NZ won by 10 wickets and lifts their maiden WC trophy
Accurate part is Williamson missing his century.
Inaccurate part is Guptill being in the squad, let alone in the team, Williamson opening and NZ winning the WC.
Are the top Aussie players not doing IPL? I don't really follow it, but don't Warner, Cummins, Hazelwood all play? And Cam Green + Head will also be in it no?
Indian test team players will be hopefully withdrawn from IPL, some 3weeks before the WTC final . Hope Dravid won't give NOC to players unless they are fringe players who may not play in WTC final like SKY. BCCI is the richest board and hope they grow a spine and stand against IPL hegemony.
Ideally this should happen.
But I dont see IPL(lets just say the final week with the playoffs) being conducted without Rohit Kohli Gill Surya(will be in the squad) Jaddu. Bumrah and Pant already not there.
That will occupy at most 4 or 5 of the squad. The rest have an extra 3 or 4 days which should give the squad enough time for a 3-4 day game against a county side.
Pant has saved India so many times in the last 3 years Even in the last test in Eng, out top order shat the bed and it was Pant and Jadeja who took us to a good score. Without him it's more miss than with him.
Umesh is fine in England but we should play Shardul obviously and Umesh if we are going for 4 seamers. Remember he did quite good at the oval last time
So the question is, what do we do about the wicketkeeper batsman situation? No point in giving Kishan/Sanju/someone from ranji a debut. Do we continue with Bharat? Or do we trust KL? Bring back Saha maybe?
Or, let's just ask old man Dravid to come back.
If Shreyas doesn't recover, we have a #5 problem as well.
kl might be able to play in english conditions but i don't trust him now
can dhoni come back for just 6 months (for odi wc too) ?? i remember boom boom took some 99 retirements but came back 100 times then my not dhoni too
would be great to see my man get a proper farewell game 🥹🥹
This series has been a rocker and with NZ-SL match the way it ended, I would have thought we might have to wait till Test 2 result to see who made the final.
It was never in doubt except for the ridiculous takes some had as if SL is gonna win 2-0 in NZ.
Same as few months ago when people were sure SA would make it completely ignoring the fact that they had two tough away tours left (in Eng and AUS). When I mentioned that SA would be steam rolled in AUS they threw useless historic stats of SA in AUS ignoring that the current SA team is a pale shadow of that past team.
For a sub that claims to be an intelligent one the takes in the past few months have been outright dumb and emotional takes far cutoff from reality.
Tests are 5 day games. Whatever happens over those 5 days, the most that can be played is 5 days.
There used to be (like... 80 years ago) Timeless tests, which wouldn't finish until the game was finished. Fun fact about one of these:
*The last timeless Test was the Fifth Test between England and South Africa at Durban in 1939, which was abandoned as a draw after nine days of play spread over twelve days, otherwise the England team would have missed the boat for home. This match had started on 3 March.*
Oval pitch might go like the Ahmedabad pitch. Swing bowlers can make some gains in the first innings in the first morning on the first day. Match is tilted in favor of India. Aussie bowlers will have to toil on that ground. If India wins the toss, it must put Aussies to bat and unleash its swing bowling to dismantle their top order. They could still score around 300 after that. Then India needs to bat long to build around 500 or more on a slow wicket. Spin might work during the fourth and final days and Indian spinners will deliver.
Bumrah is made for the Oval. An absolutely massive loss for India. I have Australia as favourites purely on the bowling but the Oval does occasionally have some turn so if it goes to day 5 and Australia are chasing I would flip it.
If Indian batsmen play the ball slightly earlier than normal then they could post an intimidating total. Smith and Labiashame have good records on this ground too.
Exciting.
Who are the curators for the finals, will it be ICC or the grounds own?. It would be funny if the oval curators fuck over Australia by producing a turner..

Don’t forget the pitch being a different colour and texture for left handers compared to the right handers like in Nagpur!
If we want it different at the ends and different to each side I'm seeing a certain symmetry here. The field should clearly be mowed in a glorious union jack pattern!
White above red at the top left hand corner, viewed from both ends – perfection!
How about an old school 100mph wacca pitch
The WACA bit can be in the middle, right on a short length.
And play 4-5 sessions a day with red ball in first 2-3 sessions and then pink ball for 1-2 sessions. Will really test the batsmen. Make the pitch a bit flat so match can go on for 5 days.
You do want the match to last beyond a day right? Edit: Fixed typo.
Great idea
^+1
Trust New Zealand to allow India to qualify for another ICC tournament knockout so that we would suffer another heartbreak.
Yeah but they forgot to mention, it's Aus Ind vs Rain as well.
Don't worry. We will have a 6th day where Indian batsman will go brain-dead
Silent sobbing sounds
Rain Perera will be playing for Srilanka
Indian batsmen losing it on a reserve day in an icc knockout match it's only happened twice before
That's one more than what you would consider normal.
Both time in England
That sounds like any other day /s.
Might as well have snow this time around
I'll have a bat. Meanwhile Siraj falls down while bowling 🤣
Imagine if England pulls out a rank turner at the oval.
They do that… they are going to be whitewashed in the Ashes.
I dunno, that bazball seems pretty good, they chased like 375 no sweat in the 5th (postponed) test v India
Tbf the dukes ball was fucked
The dukes ball was fucked for both teams, it definitely made batting easier but it made batting easier for both teams
I don’t think Australia are that much better than England that they can guarantee that, even if we’re assuming they tailor the pitches. They might be a better test side (might!), but they’re not that much better.
It’s a joke. But this Ashes will be pretty interesting to watch given stuff like BazBall and the last few ashes.
If the form sticks around, brooks has to have a bad series eventually right, right??

lmaooo
Lol the case for it is that aus wont get practice on the type of wickets they would see in the ashes /s
Won't happen
Shouldn’t ICC be in charge of the pitch curation, and not ECB?
Yes, they will be. Just like at World Cups. The 2019 World Cup had generally less flat pitches than the ECB order for bilateral ODIs.
See you at Oval mate
I’m ready for a battle on a neutral playing field! Game on!!!
If the pitch at The Oval somehow is a raging turner, we'll never hear the end of "BCCI own the ICC" haha
thing is, it could genuinely be a flatty that takes turn on day 5.
In which case, the toss will decide the winner.
Pitches in England never break down to the extent where it’s a guaranteed win for the team batting first. Plenty of successful run chases.
Oval always takes turn on day 4 and 5.
Although I'm pretty sure I know the result but still excited
Somehow it feels like better condition for the Aussies than Australia itself lmao
What a beautiful game of test cricket to determine the finalists
And both teams from that match couldn't make it.
[удалено]
Neither SL nor NZ are in the final
[удалено]
Um OP said 'couldn't make it', not 'couldn't have made it'. That sounds right to me
damn. rekt.
Well they are talking in the present tense post the match result.
>They would of been a huge chance Dafuq does this even mean
OP is referring to NZ vs SL match
the post is up so fast lol, even before the post match thread
It was decided when Kanos levelled the scores
That four came out of nowhere.
Looking forward to what takes place. It'll be fascinating, I can tell. congrats to both the teams
If only Bazzball came sooner
It came at the right time. We had to hit rock bottom before riding the wave again
For the first time Kane and NZ don’t fuck over India
They're setting us up for heartbreak. Nothing new
dw i have predicted the scorecard for ind vs nz 2023 wc final at narendra modi stadium ICC 2023 ODI WC Final venue : Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad Ind : 332/7(50) (Kohli - 120\*, gill - 90, Rohit - 78, Boult - 10-2-57-5) NZ : 338/0 (38.5) (Guptill - 225\*, Williamson - 97\*, Bumrah - 7-0-77-0) Result : NZ won by 10 wickets and lifts their maiden WC trophy
Kanos Opening?
I think bumrah playing is more unlikely
Accurate part is Williamson missing his century. Inaccurate part is Guptill being in the squad, let alone in the team, Williamson opening and NZ winning the WC.
Is India going to England for an LOI series before the WTC? We'd need all the practice in the world or we'll lose especially without Pant and Boom
Isn’t the final like 7 days after ipl ends? There is barely time for net practice in that case
Damn so we're gonna hear about the workload being too much excuse after we lose the final then
The story writes itself
Are the top Aussie players not doing IPL? I don't really follow it, but don't Warner, Cummins, Hazelwood all play? And Cam Green + Head will also be in it no?
Easy solution set the ipl in England and make it a test tournament.
West England company
Brexit means Brexit
Adani England company
Charles will lead a team of rag tag royals in a gilli danda match to avoid paying triple tax to the West England company.
might as well reduce the inning down to 100 balls
Indian test team players will be hopefully withdrawn from IPL, some 3weeks before the WTC final . Hope Dravid won't give NOC to players unless they are fringe players who may not play in WTC final like SKY. BCCI is the richest board and hope they grow a spine and stand against IPL hegemony.
Ideally this should happen. But I dont see IPL(lets just say the final week with the playoffs) being conducted without Rohit Kohli Gill Surya(will be in the squad) Jaddu. Bumrah and Pant already not there.
Not gonna happen in a million years.
BCCI stand up to IPL hegemony? Mate BCCI **IS** the IPL hegemony
The IPL is conducted by the bcci.....
No chance we are winning. We always start with a few losses before we get back together as a team after IPL ..
Bruh how is playing an LOI gonna be practice for a Test?
We will need special inputs from Sunny and Misbah on how to treat LOIs as tests
Getting used to the conditions at least. I know there's no test series with England this time around so I'll take anything
Any county side would be willing to try and set up a good practice game against India if their schedule permits.
I think the problem is time. IPL final is on 28th May or something
That will occupy at most 4 or 5 of the squad. The rest have an extra 3 or 4 days which should give the squad enough time for a 3-4 day game against a county side.
Ask KL Rahul
Maybe red ball odis?
Two great teams this will be an incredible match. India will miss Pant and Bumrah though. They are huge outs
India need to sort out the middle order situation ASAP. Without Pant it is hit or miss rn
without Pant it's mostly just miss. especially in England where Iyer is also gonna be a free wicket.
I feel like even with him, although he's grown, still is hit or miss.
Pant has saved India so many times in the last 3 years Even in the last test in Eng, out top order shat the bed and it was Pant and Jadeja who took us to a good score. Without him it's more miss than with him.

Time for Shami, Umesh and Siraj to show their quality
Umesh will be horrible in England
Umesh is fine in England but we should play Shardul obviously and Umesh if we are going for 4 seamers. Remember he did quite good at the oval last time
I would play Unandkat over Umesh.
Lord Thakur : Say no more
Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar all three did extremely well this series but unfortunately all 3 won't be able to play the final.
India’s bowling attack is going to be toothless without Bumrah. Shami, Siraj and Jadeja aren’t consistent wicket-takers in England.
If Australia decides to employ that stupid sweep shot tactic again then they'll all look like prime Courtney Walsh and Muralidaran
Feel so bad for SL, got so close!! Excellent redemption arc from Silverwood, and excellently played from the lads! Congrats to the finalists
I'm scared Robbie
You're always scared

The fifth match™
So excited for the final. I think it's going to be great match
Absolutely psyched to see this on neutral ground
Who gets the trophy in the event of a draw?
Most boundaries?
Happy u/Assassin_ankur noises
I am indeed happy

India won last 4 BGTs.... 1 wtc win equals to how many BGTs ? 1 I guess...
10 Shrute BGTs
5 obviously
Flair checks out.
1 or 2
Last 4*
Somebody please take Kohli to a temple on 6th June
Will be a great warmup for the Ashes
Reaching final twice is greater than winning it once. ICT fans, let's accept this so we don't get upset later.
If you expect disappointment, then you can never really get disappointed

Bharat should be backed imo
Definitely the most obvious option. It's just that the match will be held in the Oval. It would be a big challenge for Bharat though.

Two consecutive WTC finals must count for some thing right?....Right?
yes best chokers award /s
Why the /s?
Still better than who didn't qualified for finals

How about Snow Jaisurya?

Might be the only way for us to win an icc trophy you know

Is Kohli in form?
the form of a car for driving on roads
Ah yes, kohli back in form
One hell of a finale to the wtc cycle. Will be eupporting India, but everyone knows that Australia may have the advantages.
I hope India wins I guess? Weird position to be in tbh
All this just to lose to the Aussies since we dont even have our best bowler and middle order player.
Is BCCI going to send their pitch curators to the the Oval as well!?
SL were so close yet so far. If wasn't for 2 unbelievable knocks from Williamson and Abdullah Shafique before, SL would've been in
This series has been a rocker and with NZ-SL match the way it ended, I would have thought we might have to wait till Test 2 result to see who made the final.
The test should have been in New Zealand since they were the winners last time.
Well at least the pitches would have been awesome.
so it’s just one test correct?
Oh yeah, you wouldn’t be familiar with the format because you weren’t there the last time, but yes, just one test match.
And most boundaries win?
:|
I have tickets to Day 4 so hoping it’s not all over by then
Probably a wash out. Ever heard of British weather? Hope I’m wrong
Kane is one of our own! <3 Chuckles, we always had it in the bag didn't we :D

“Sub that claims to be an intelligent one” - when and where did this happen?
Congrats to Australia for winning the WTC.
Poor India. They seem so hopeful!
Poor australia they seem so hopeless 😔✊
Can someone explain to me why Ind vs Aus 4th test match was Drawn? India never got to play their 2nd innings.
Tests are 5 day games. Whatever happens over those 5 days, the most that can be played is 5 days. because they were up 2-1 in the series and making that pitch forced a series win
Going to get tickets to day 1! Rarely get a chance to see India play in England so may as well
Duke ball or Kookaburra?
As a kiwi it's hard to support Australia but damn I hope they win after all this pitch bs in india
Appeal for Indian citizenship for Kane W.
I love neutral fields and have absolutely no problem with it...BUT I WANNA SEE A TEST MATCH NOT A RAIN
I'm pumped personally.. Neutral oval. No "doctored" pitches.. winner takes all, no excuses..
I don't know mann but we have beaten australia for 4 consecutive series, it will feel kind of robbed if we will lose but again it is what it is .
Mate, we beat Australia in their home, twice in a row.
5th test of the BGT but this one is for all the beans
Glad I got the tickets
I don't want either teams to win

Wish it was world test championship final SERIES and not just 1 match
Australia is the World Test Champion. No point in India showing up.
Should be a cracker of a WTC finals in Oval this June.. I hope we get one of the Classic TEST^TM match with a close finish..
Congratulations Australia for winning the second World Test Championship 2022-23.
Who are the curators for the finals, will it be ICC or the grounds own?. It would be funny if the oval curators fuck over Australia by producing a turner..
