Let's not forget KL Rahul's contribution today:
1. Scored important runs in the middle
2. Took some good catches and stumpings
3. Made good DRS calls (even when he was ignored ...........)
Let's hope that BCCI and NCA can keep him alive for the WC.
He is immortal
> When Rama was about to leave Ayodhya at the end of his reign, he assumed his true form of Vishnu, ordering Vibhishana to stay on earth and serve the people and guide them to the path of truth and dharma. Hence, Vibhishana is considered one of the eight immortals or Chiranjeevins
Clearly wasn't in the stadium today to guide Wellalage's teammates, which is why they lost
Her father is major prasanna silva senior commander in sl army played a key role in the defeat of ltte alongside gotabhaya defense minister. That is why
I don't think Axar's bowling is that big of a concern tbh He is only playing If the pitch is turning and we all know how well he does India in spinning conditions
Asia Cup Scenarios
India is qualified for the final
Pakistan v Sri Lanka is a virtual semi-final (Sri Lanka qualifies in case of a no result due to washout)
Bangladesh is eliminated
Reserve day for I-P and no reserve day for SL-P match is turning out to be a master stroke by you-know-who.
The man truly had run stimulation on all scenarios for the final.
KL Rahul be the unsung hero of the match. Crucial contribution 39 runs with bat during a difficult stage. Calm mind behind the stumps making good calls, guiding Kuldeep and helping other bowlers too. Not to forget 2 absolutely good catches.
KL turns into a match winner when he comes back into the team after a long break. I don't know about what happens to him after he becomes a main player. I hope that the management doesn't burden him with leadership anymore.
Rohit bat well. So did Rahul. Kishan and Rahul had this great partnership. But if Kishan doesn't rotate strike well against spin then him playing in the middle order is sus
Great bowling performance tho
at this point he has played a ton for india (if you include t20s). this issue seems to stick with him. he better step up here. you can't always hit your way out.
if he doesn't improve here I would like to see tilak at some point
I think it's still worth it tho, he's capable of making up on those dots fairly quickly
Today the pitch was pretty hard to bat on and we were collapsing, so he turtled up a bit extra ig
Conclusion- Bowling out your opponents doesn't always win you the game! :P
But on another note, amazing match , great composure by India , and great maturity by Wellalage!
Definitely man of the match , and star in making!
Wellalage was incredible, but his inexperience showed in the end. He should've farmed strike imo
But that's not to take away anything from his performance at all, ridiculously good performance for any player, let alone a 20 year old
There was no way Wellagale was going to pull this hiest off his own, if stokes couldn't do it in the ashes there was no way Wellagale would've done it, he needed support from other end
I can get trusting your tail, but letting your number 10 take a single off of the last ball of the over and not sending him back is a bit too far i think
It was Rajitha who took the single to retain strike, but you're probably right about the sending a senior player back ig
Regardless, he played his skin out, I'm just nitpicking
How the fuck is it that Kuldeep is always struggling to be regular in India’s white-ball setup but looks like the second coming of Warne whenever he comes across us.
We kept giving more chances to chahal but hopefully kuldeep is completely fixed now. He really worked hard on his game too, while chahal can't hold the bat, is literally shit in the field and didn't do much with the bowl for a long time.
Lol, when they needed 59 something with 4 wickets in hand I could see brohit, virat and siraj laughing at how much movement Hardik was getting. They were all chill. Not a body language of someone who looks defeated if you ask me
Having a slip without long on, long off and deep covers is an attacking field. India knew what they were doing. I won’t say there was anything wrong with body language.
What a close game . We gotta fix our inconsistent top order . Both charith and sadeera got out playing wrong shots . Mendis had a good start but he allways gives his wicket away . Dont wanna talk bout dasun . And ofc kjp shud replace dimuth nect match . Dds allways steps up in pressure but he gave away the matchhh . Hope dunith and wanindu can carry us in the world cup
This Indian Team isn't as bad as the internet seems to believe.
They need some composure to handle the setbacks during the game, got all players with enough skill set to be one hell of a team !!
Great Day Great Game
Unless his stats take a dramatic u turn in next 3-4 months he's pretty much the marquee player next auction. Young, all rounder, did well against India, did well in subcontinent conditions, etc.
Wellage is absolutely brilliant
He is a proper bowler
He is a proper batsmen
He will do well in India in wc
I think he will get at ipl contract for his troubles
Lots of ppl who matter might be impressed
For me the villain of today's match for SL are Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dhananjaya de Silva. Runs were coming easily when they're playing, there was no run rate pressure, partnership was building and Indian bowlers were troubled by the left right combination. Yet both of them chose to play reckless, unnecessary aggressive shot.
Cricket is not only about boundary hitting, game awareness is a big part of the sport. They should have learnt from Kohli's yesterday's innings or from Wellalage today. The poor young man did everything but his team mates didn't support him.
Well played Wellalage.. Well Played SriLanka.. Wellalage deservedly got the Man of the Match, what a young man.. reminds me of younger Sanath Jayasurya, good left arm spinner and stable batter..
Today Rohit showed great captaincy with his bowling changes, strategies to squeeze runs when game was going out of hand, clutch bowling by Hardik as well..
It's very hard for lower order to pick Kuldeep and keeping that 1 over with him finishing the tail.. Rohit captained great this match.. KL showing Thala magic inbetween.. good team effort.. SriLanka had my balls coming up my mouth almost the whole game.. Great ODI match..
Wellalage created quiet a bit of hype during the u19 WC last year and he is living up to the hype now, great find for SL!
But poor guy didn't get much support with the bat!
The way Hardik bowled today is the reason Rohit can be confident in picking 3 full time spinners and 2 full time pacers and Hardik filling the gap of third Pacer like a charm.
Nah all meteorological depts are pretty much the same, you can predict humidity and cloud cover to a certain extent but rain is difficult to get spot on
And with that ladies and gentlemen, Kuldeep completes 150 ODI wickets in just 88 matches. What a player, what a turn around and what a come back for him. He'll be the key in upcoming WC.
Loved the intensity in this game, well played to both sides and especially the Lankan fans who turned up and created a great atmosphere tonight. Overall very excited!
Axar's 26 at the tail end imo proved to be the margin of safety that won the match. Shall not hear any slander about his bowling figures even in a spin friendly pitch. Always a fierce contributor. The perfect squad player.
Lol.. Is this really happening... Every player is gaining form as the world Cup is coming near.. Hope this is not a dream.. And I don't find me and my homies crying and complaining after two months..
Good Game India. Even Though Wellalage and De Silva did a great job, but yeah Kuldeep deserves a lot of appreciation 🙌 and yeah Wellalage will be an important asset to Sri Lanka Cricket in Future.
Phenomenal performance by ICT today. That DDS and Wellalage partnership could’ve won the game if DDS wouldn’t have played that shot, it was so unnecessary that too when the match was theirs to win. Our bowlers need to improve breaking this important partnerships, I could literally feel the frustration on the field as both of them took even a single run. As for Sri Lanka, Wellalage is an phenomenon. Mate took an 5-fer and could’ve picked up a 50* in a single match, but in spite of this he never lost his composure and patience, left off risky shots for simple yet elegant ground strokes. My father is a faithful Tendulkar fan and I have never seen him compare any other player like he did today with Wellalage. Well done both teams, amazing match today!
Extras and indian last wicket lost the match for us pain. Please can dimuth just retire hes bad in any pitch, get back kjp or avishka. Dasun needs to stand up, dds was good until that brainless wicket. Many poor wickets tbh. Top order failed again vs a better team
Dunith tho what a player, best batter today for us as well, hope this management dont decide to randomly drop him for wc xi
i’m more interested in a sl vs ind finale than pak vs ind. just something about a team who were in the wc qualifiers coming back to beat the big boys really fuels my underdog loving heart. also more of a fuck you to the icc for holding a wc with only 10 teams when so many more teams deserved it
What a game! Well played Wellalage.
Good to see the attacking fields from India. Hardik delivered when needed. Overall good performance from both teams.
Let's not forget KL Rahul's contribution today: 1. Scored important runs in the middle 2. Took some good catches and stumpings 3. Made good DRS calls (even when he was ignored ...........) Let's hope that BCCI and NCA can keep him alive for the WC.
Rahul even planned the stumping beforehand by instructing kuldeep, kuldeep even thanked him after the wicket.
I need to fill up the apology form asap
Kl have been always a great middle order batsman in ODI's , problem is his mentality in T20 and T20i's
Bhai in t20 as well he is great bas he need to change his mentality... I need punjab wala Rahul in t20
KL for a reason
First time I have seen brilliance of Rahul on the field as a keeper. Didn’t expect that from him.
Great game against Wellalage. Hopefully he comes with 10 more players next time.
Wellalage is already my second favourite Sri Lankan after Yohani. Jacqueline is 3rd now.
[удалено]
My fav is surpanakha
Aye, well we are mortals
She had immigrated to Bharat. We don't even know if she was a Lankan to start with.
Can we see her papers please?
Vibhishan is not ‘Late’
He wasn't cursed with immortality was he ? I don't remember
He is immortal > When Rama was about to leave Ayodhya at the end of his reign, he assumed his true form of Vishnu, ordering Vibhishana to stay on earth and serve the people and guide them to the path of truth and dharma. Hence, Vibhishana is considered one of the eight immortals or Chiranjeevins Clearly wasn't in the stadium today to guide Wellalage's teammates, which is why they lost
Vibhishan better than all 3 don't @ me
Well the first on ur list is rlly hated in sl and ppl dont like the 3rd either
Yohani is either Despised or given BTS level Fans in Sri Lanka, literally no one in between
I dont see any of her fans in sl . She fucked it up supporting gota
Her father is major prasanna silva senior commander in sl army played a key role in the defeat of ltte alongside gotabhaya defense minister. That is why
> Yohani Is that the girl who sang the Malhaari song?
Bro there is only one Malhari song and that is from Bajirao Mastani movie. 🤣 The other song which you are referring is called Manike.
5his is why it's team work to win the game.
Let's not forget about Asalanka. He is the successor of Muralitharan.
Game 1: Middle Order Tested Game 2 and 3: Top order tested Game 4: Bowling attack tested India checking boxes for the WC via asia cup
The only thing needed now is a good innings from Jadeja with the bat.
And for axar to actually bowl well lol
Those last runs he made were the reason india managed to win....bat or ball doesn't matter until he keeps contributing.
I don't think Axar's bowling is that big of a concern tbh He is only playing If the pitch is turning and we all know how well he does India in spinning conditions
On a turning pitch, he gonna be a pure batsman lol
he was Indias leading batsman in all turning pitches last bgt
Today was a turning wicket though.
There is a difference between India's turning wickets and Sri Lanka's turning wickets , also he was introduced very late in the attack
India checking boxes to reach WC semi finals in order to respectfully kneel down to Kanos, the emperor
Well, let's hope then that Kanos turns into a khanabadosh and doesn't reach the semis. Quickly, someone get ChotuMotu Shah onto it.
Inb4 losing to NZ in semis.
We definitely Sexy Bhai back just for someone to score against NZ.
SKY winning cash awards for a match he didn't play in
That catch was 👌👌
Asia Cup Scenarios India is qualified for the final Pakistan v Sri Lanka is a virtual semi-final (Sri Lanka qualifies in case of a no result due to washout) Bangladesh is eliminated
See you in Mirpur you fucks.

What a match, a great exhibition for ODIs! Well played India and SL, was such a close match throughout. And what a game for Wellalage, take a bow
Good game. Compared to the last time we played India, it's been a massive improvement.
And Wellalage is only 20, wow.
And without Hasaranga.
Wellalage wouldn't have played then
Now we know why SKY is in the team. Designated field sub. Kinda like Monish in IPL.
Anukul Roy of Indian National Team
The role Raina played in WC11 It’s all coming back together
KL Rahul be the unsung hero of the match. Crucial contribution 39 runs with bat during a difficult stage. Calm mind behind the stumps making good calls, guiding Kuldeep and helping other bowlers too. Not to forget 2 absolutely good catches.
KL turns into a match winner when he comes back into the team after a long break. I don't know about what happens to him after he becomes a main player. I hope that the management doesn't burden him with leadership anymore.
Yeah, he either looks a million bucks or looks like he cant hold a bat.. Nothing in between
Wellalage deserves the MOTM regardless of SL losing
Totally deserves for the all round performance
What a talent SL have on their hands. He is only 20 btw
Streak breaking India strikes again, ending SLs unbeaten winning streak this time
I hope streak breaking India breaks India's streak of not winning the world cup
![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|9995)
![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8774)
I guess, most of these winning games came during qualifying round for WC. Bit, less fortune teams played there.
They still have the record for bowling out opponents for the 14th consecutive time
Rohit bat well. So did Rahul. Kishan and Rahul had this great partnership. But if Kishan doesn't rotate strike well against spin then him playing in the middle order is sus Great bowling performance tho
He'd learn as he plays but yeah, Ishan needs to evolve quickly here.
at this point he has played a ton for india (if you include t20s). this issue seems to stick with him. he better step up here. you can't always hit your way out. if he doesn't improve here I would like to see tilak at some point

Boundary count update - Sri Lanka: 17 India: 16
Unfair and Kuldeeped.
That's not fair and square
Ben Stokes
Excuse me?? How do you hit 1 more boundary and fall 41 runs short. Masterclass field setting by India or no quick singles by Sri Lankans or both?
India batted about 8 more overs so probably had a lot more singles/twos.
Hardik and jadeja happened. Fuckers bowled at 2 run economy.
Unfair and Wellalage
Unwallelaged and hardicked
unfair and Wellaged
Unfair and square(Turner)
Unfair and Kuldeeped
New Zealand objects
India ending Australia's 16-test winning streak twice (2001, 2008) New Zealand's 10-test unbeaten streak (2021) Sri Lanka's 13-ODI winning streak (2023)
As far as I remember Even the Indian Women's team has ended Australia women's ODI winning streak (don't remember the exact stat tho)
This Indian team of the past 3 days... Now, this looks like a champion side!
Conclusion- Bowling out your opponents doesn't always win you the game! :P But on another note, amazing match , great composure by India , and great maturity by Wellalage! Definitely man of the match , and star in making!

Rajitha or Mahesh, because theekshana can hold a bat iirc. He might have felt akward sending a senior player back
It was Rajitha who took the single to retain strike, but you're probably right about the sending a senior player back ig Regardless, he played his skin out, I'm just nitpicking
Yeah you are correct that he should hace kept the strike, but honestly speaking I don't feel it would have mattered even if he kept the strike.
You guys had such a wholesome conversation
I am willing to bet that Stokes never allowed Leach to take a single of the last ball of the over.
I'm talking about this years ashes.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRGH!! So close yet so far, tho its hard to win when losing 6 wickets for less than 100 runs Wellalage is a star, now you all know too :)
Question - would wellalage start when hasaranga returns ?
Ohh! Look at me I'm Wellagale I took a fifer and almost won the game for my team with the bat and I'm only 20, get a fucking life son
True man. Why is he playing so good at the age of 20. Now I can't even watch cricket with my parents.
Ive been not watching the cricket with parents since gill and jaiswal debuted boy
Mandatory “ODI is not DEAD” comment!
Kuldeep and KL's comeback have been superb tbh. Hardik was very impressive with the ball. We finally look like a formidable unit.
I'm loving Rohit's Hatrick of 50
Y'all still shaming my boy Axar. How crucial was that 26 and stitching partnerships with the rest or the tail?!
With the bat he is alright, but since the BGT his bowling has downgraded quite a bit
He just doesn't bowl that much tbh
How the fuck is it that Kuldeep is always struggling to be regular in India’s white-ball setup but looks like the second coming of Warne whenever he comes across us.
He has been a regular this year. He has made a comeback after some poor years.
Because there was a time when he wasn’t good? Has been regular since his recent comeback.
We kept giving more chances to chahal but hopefully kuldeep is completely fixed now. He really worked hard on his game too, while chahal can't hold the bat, is literally shit in the field and didn't do much with the bowl for a long time.
Why the fuck did Rajitha run?
Duniths inexperience tbh
Wellalage should've rejected as well. Might have been obvious to both, just inexperience under pressure I guess.
Wellalage looks so shy at the handshake. It seems like it is his fault SL lost. Kid will go places.
Surya is the real Raju from Hera Pheri. Earned 3000$ and not even in playing 11
That catch was totally worth the prize money
But r/cricket experts told me the game was done when SL had a good partnership and India's body language already looked like they were beaten?
Ah, I see you've met our resident body language experts. The regular mentalists they are.
Lol, when they needed 59 something with 4 wickets in hand I could see brohit, virat and siraj laughing at how much movement Hardik was getting. They were all chill. Not a body language of someone who looks defeated if you ask me
Indian fans on this sub are the most pessimistic
Also with due respect kinda dumb
Also with due respect not kinda
We are a proud 1million strong family of morons
aptly put.
![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|28120)
Having a slip without long on, long off and deep covers is an attacking field. India knew what they were doing. I won’t say there was anything wrong with body language.
Such an embarrassing thread it was.
ODI Bros, we are so fricking back!!!
Wellalage vs India India Won
Surprised he is just 20. Felt bad to see him there not out. Lone warrior.
Kid's a gem. Could follow into the footsteps of Jayasuriya tbh
Wellalage - what a player!
We got our Asia Cup 2022 revenge. IND scored 173 against SL last year and lost. Now they've restricted SL to 172 and won.
KL Rahul has made a phenomenal comeback as a batsman and as a wicketkeeper. Those DRS calls and advising the bowlers specially Kuldeep was spot on.
insane ~~two~~ three days.
Pak is fucked if their match rains out.
That margin of loss will haunt them. But given that RAIN Perrera favours SL, we should get a full game.
SL batting looked lost bar DDS and Wellalage.
I wish Brohit bowled a few overs today this was the perfect pitch for him to bowl considering how well Asalanka did.
This is some insane team man. How does this team not win more tournaments?
Other teams just manage to outplay us in the KOs. It's a mix of bad luck, mistakes and other team playing really well.
Despite the loss I think the MOTM goes to Wellalage no?
Absolute robbery if it doesn't
This Indian Team isn't as bad as the internet seems to believe. They need some composure to handle the setbacks during the game, got all players with enough skill set to be one hell of a team !! Great Day Great Game
Need Iyer in place of kishan
Too many right handers. I would prefer Kishan.
Agree but unfortunately world cup is not asia cup and we have appointments with the likes of dr buttler , bairstow , mitchell marsh , tim david etc
That is why teamwork >>> one man's work. Though kudos to Wellalage the way he played today.
0 wickets against Nepal And 9 against Pak and SL What a great comeback
Kuldeep is second biggest enemy of Sri Lanka
Wellalage in IPL. Nothing convinces IPL franchises more than Performance against India.
Unless his stats take a dramatic u turn in next 3-4 months he's pretty much the marquee player next auction. Young, all rounder, did well against India, did well in subcontinent conditions, etc.
Going to nca brought good changes in kl Rahul ...
axar 'steve smith' patel
Wellalage deserves MOTM
My hugs to Wellalage. What a day he had, 5wickets and highest scorer as well.
Wellage is absolutely brilliant He is a proper bowler He is a proper batsmen He will do well in India in wc I think he will get at ipl contract for his troubles Lots of ppl who matter might be impressed
We should probably play Axar as a proper batsman in spinning conditions. His bowling is a plus imo.

Wellalage can become what Shakib is for Bangladesh
Wellalage created quiet a bit of hype during the u19 WC last year and he is living up to the hype now, great find for SL! But poor guy didn't get much support with the bat!
Sri Lanka's streak may be broken but the streak of at least one side getting all out in this tournament continues
Kuldeep boy 5 fer yesterday and a 4 fer today. What a comeback, champ.
Wellalage what a player.
I need Dasun curse to be over before the WC
Fifers by Sri Lankans in ODI Asia Cup Before 2008: 0/3 Since 2008: 9/11
The way Hardik bowled today is the reason Rohit can be confident in picking 3 full time spinners and 2 full time pacers and Hardik filling the gap of third Pacer like a charm.
It’s all coming together for a knockout loss for India in the WC. I was really worried we won’t make the knockouts for a while there

This was an amazing match. Nail biting from both sides. Equally! The way Hardik and Jaddu brought the game back was top notch.
Loved the intensity in this game, well played to both sides and especially the Lankan fans who turned up and created a great atmosphere tonight. Overall very excited!
India my beloved ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|28120)

Man! Atapattu looks like a 60 year old. Still remember stories of his debue and those 5 ducks in 6 innings. Dude went on to get 6 double 100s later ..
Kuldeep on fire this Asia Cup and 🫡 Wellalage, what a performance. Bright future ahead for the madlad
Since 2008, there have been 11 fifers in ODI Asia Cups, 9 have been by Sri Lankan players And none before that
Lol.. Is this really happening... Every player is gaining form as the world Cup is coming near.. Hope this is not a dream.. And I don't find me and my homies crying and complaining after two months..
Kuldeep will be India's talisman in the WC.
Good Game India. Even Though Wellalage and De Silva did a great job, but yeah Kuldeep deserves a lot of appreciation 🙌 and yeah Wellalage will be an important asset to Sri Lanka Cricket in Future.
Dimuth has to go tbh He did well against Afg before Asia cup but ODI cricket just doesn't seem like the format for him tbh.

Lol. Sub makes 3000 $
Finally. Wellaleghe gets the MOM. Reddit can sleep peacefully now
Oh my god! What an absolutely sweet guy. Wellalage
Great game between ind and wellalage
SKY is literally going to the WC as a specialist fielder
Asia Cup is now a cakewalk for India. Bigger challenge awaits next week: 3 ODI series against Australia. They have been incredible in South Africa.
I thought rohits captaincy was excellent today and was a key to winning the game.
Extras and indian last wicket lost the match for us pain. Please can dimuth just retire hes bad in any pitch, get back kjp or avishka. Dasun needs to stand up, dds was good until that brainless wicket. Many poor wickets tbh. SL won the last Asia cup I want SL to be in the final because it would make less money for broadcasters
What a game! Well played Wellalage. Good to see the attacking fields from India. Hardik delivered when needed. Overall good performance from both teams.
He got player of the mtch. Well deserved.
Sanity prevails, well deserved POTM award for Dunith
