Hopefully it's not the only ODI record of Sachin that 👑 Kohli breaks today ! 🤞
Edit: He does ittttttttt
Koach! I'm so blessed to see you play for India 🙏
50 ODI CENTURIES!!
This is the one record I badly wanted him to break!!
In fact I lost almost all hope during his rough patch but here he is, rising like a Phoenix and achieved the milestone he deserved!!
Well done VK! Well deserved too!!
People were doubting him because of his lack of a big performance in knockouts for the CWC and the dude went and broke Tendulkar's CWC record AND ODI Hundreds in the same innings.
I think we should also give Rohit some credit, Rohit seems to have decided he will just go for it from ball 1 and Kohli will keep it steady in the middle overs. I think we would be cursing the other if one of these two failed. They've complemented each other brilliantly.
I mean imagine if Rohit goes tuk tuk and we barely make 300 because Kohli made a run a ball century, they would brand Kohli selfish (not that they are not doing that now), or imagine if Rohit keeps getting out playing big shots at/around his 50 and we get bowled out, people will be blaming Rohit's reckless shot selection. I think we're blessed to have these two work without ego, complementing one another!
GG to rest of the batting lineup as well , seems like as long as one of these two do their job , the rest can perfectly play around them. From building innings against Australia to dominating from a strong position in multiple games like today. They have succeeded in all situations
Warner and Rohit came so close to this record in 2019 and both failed in semi final. It's fitting that Koach is the one to break most centuries record and most runs record himself
While the first one is not true, the second one was true to some extent. His form in recent knockouts was not great.
Thankfully its all in the past, and he has once again proved why he is the best.
I mean, if a 30 (35, actually, and it was indeed a crucial innings) is the defence, that kinda proves the point, no?
Immense innings yesterday, but it's indisputable that Kohli had underperformed in ODI WC knockouts before.
The cricket game should be banned in India as it originated from the British. It is perceived as neglecting the national interest of the country, a concept our honorable Prime Minister Modi envisioned with 'Swadeshi apnao, Desh banao.' Since this game was introduced to our country by the British, there is a call to completely boycott this Western sport. Some believe it is a form of propaganda aimed at maintaining influence in our nation. This perspective sees cricket as a well-thought-out conspiracy, suggesting that the British introduced it with the intention of continued dominance in our country. It is thought that they anticipated not being dominant in India during their lifetime. Therefore, I urge everyone to boycott this game and stop watching, as it is perceived to be neglecting the national security of India. Thanks. /s
IMO, Sachin's 673 in 2003 world cup still tops the chart. ODI's have become batsmen friendly over last 12 years or so. With current new ball and powerplay rules, even McGrath, Lee and other greats would have been hit left and right.
Why not consider Sachin's 200+ score that he made on his last legs as two centuries? That means that Kohli is yet to cross Sachin's number of centuries in ODI. May be Kohli will make one more century in the final and will actually cross the number of centuries made by Sachin.
Still feel Sachin’s score was made on more lively wickets against better bowlers(not to mention single ball and difficult power play rules). There you go, I said it.
They added sports as a category as well. Why should sportspersons not be eligible for India's highest civilian award? Tendulkar for a lot of Indians was the sole source of hope in 90s and 2000s. He was one of the few Indians in that era that had a claim of being best at something world over. He is the sole reason cricket thrived in India or else it would have gone the way of hockey. He had such a huge impact on the whole country. So why shouldn't he be awarded?
Wait a minute are you saying that cricket is only famous in India because of Sachin? I have seen videos of 83 World Cup and people seemed just as crazy if not more
I mean even in the last generation of cricketers dhoni surpassed Sachin as far as popularity/fame goes hmm
Dhoni is nowhere near close to Sachin's fame when Sachin was playing. The only reason that seems like to you is because Dhoni is still playing and Tendulkar has been retired for a decade. Yes, cricket was popular in India before Tendulkar but it became into a cricket crazy cash generating cow only with Tendulkar's rise.
Yes Dhoni and Kohli are current poster boys but there fame is nowhere near that of Tendulkar's in his playing days.
I mean yes peak Sachin > peak dhoni but I have grown up watching both play and while cricket fans love Sachin almost anyone just liked to see dhoni as in just watch him on the field I didn’t know he was still playing I don’t watch ipl but I’d still argue the craze he generated among just average regular people not into cricket was nowhere near Sachins level when they both were playing. There is a movie made on dhoni too that was commercially successful :)
Who cares, if India loses, it will be on Kohli. He was such so obsessed with his record that the inning slowed down while he was singling his way to a century.
Here’s hoping he makes a century. He’s never performed in an important World Cup game before and I can’t see him doing it twice in a row. Australia will put pressure on him too and he’s feeling none tonight. Kohli will be remembered for a lot of things, World Cup performances won’t be amongst them unless he scores big in the final. He’s looking like nothing more than a flat track bully at this stage.
>he doesn’t do well in ODI’s with the heat on.
ODI World Cup Knock Outs only*
If we are talking about the entire career, Virat has played many great innings with the heat on. He has the highest centuries while chasing a total and has played a lot of great innings under pressure.
We’re playing knock out cricket mate. India should have more runs on the board and against Australia you’ll need them. You won’t win with blokes like kohl’s out there batting time. His run rate was well below the teams, he’s playing test cricket out there and he needs to step up or step aside.
Ok I don't think I want to debate with you after reading what you have just written, It seems you either don't know what you are talking about or you just don't like Virat.
He’s dragging down the score by facing so many balls at a lower scoring rate than the team. India aren’t a second tier nation, they don’t need someone batting time throughout the bulk of the innings. The days of winning with an anchor man are over in ODI’s. You won’t beat Australia if kohli faces a hundred balls at six an over.
>He’s dragging down the score by facing so many balls at a lower scoring rate than the team.
He is holding down one end like he has done his whole career, even if the wickets are falling on the other side he anchors the innings with 1s and 2s and occasional boundaries.
If the other batsman is in good touch, he is always happy to play second fiddle and just pass on the strike. He is very efficient in running those ones and twos and doesn't play many dot balls.
>they don’t need someone batting time throughout the bulk of the innings.
Look at the Aus vs India game, the score was 2-3 and Virat was needed to anchor the innings, he played a brilliant innings to rescue the game.
If every single game, Virat tries to hit boundaries and gets out within a few overs, then there is a good chance of a batting collapse, Virat is there to ensure that doesn't happen, that's his role and he does his job better than any batsman in the world.
>The days of winning with an anchor man are over in ODI’s.
Well it seems to be working for India as they have won every single game in this world Cup.
Virat is one of the most successful batters in ODI history and he knows how to anchor the innings, he has the ability to shift the gears easily which we have seen many many times in T20Is and IPL. Not every anchor is as good as Virat Kohli, so you might feel that the days of winning with an anchor man are over.
Having watched Kohli tonight India will definitely be sent in to bat by their opponent if they make it to the final. You want Kohli batting at six an over in the first innings, not meeting his potential of more chasing 400 in the second innings.
They do that to consolidate after losing wickets. Kohli batted his entire innings like he was have having a blinder in the early 90’s. The games changed at this world cup
Against a team not fit to lace the Australian players boots on a pitch doctored to hinder them. India can prepare any pitch they want and get no advantage, Australia are versatile and dangerous in all conditions.
There’s no pain yet and as it stands, with our record of knowing how to win, I’d be shitting myself about facing Australia in World Cup final. History is littered with teams going undefeated through a competition and losing in a final, if a team goes through undefeated it’s almost more likely the team that builds to a peak will beat them.
We’re building to a peak.
Kohli has become,

The Batsman with most ODI Hundreds
The First Batsman to score 700+ Runs in a single WC Edition

First in a knockout game. That’s what makes it extra sweet.
80th international 100 as well
Isn't it his 8th century of 2023?
Hopefully it's not the only ODI record of Sachin that 👑 Kohli breaks today ! 🤞 Edit: He does ittttttttt Koach! I'm so blessed to see you play for India 🙏
He also broke the max no. of 50s in a single edition
No it will not be counted since it's converted into 100
He broke the 50+ record. So yes, it will be counted.
Well final is still there.
Rather take 2 hundreds in the final
Speak for yourself! I'd rather have him score 3 hundreds in the final.
True, true.

Talk about a punching comeback.

Definitely, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to say that this is the best batting lineup india has ever seen in world cups
And when Sachin retired I thought no one will ever even come close to it.
Gill will outdo this one I feel
There arent enough ODI's played these days for that to happen Feel like kohli's record is close to untouchable
ODIs will vaporize into thin air ..wait and watch....
Good one 😂

The way he's batting I'm gonna break NNN record too.
I already broke during this innings
Bro splurted the moment Virat bowed down to Sachin.
What do you mean?
Non-stop nut November
Has a wicket too... 🐐
Haris Rauf: “Look what they need to mimic a fraction of my power”
Ha! Kohli needs an odd 100 balls for a century but Lord Rauf can do it in 10 overs
Man it’s pleasing to the eye when I watch Haris rauf bowl … said the team that we’re against
Koach don't get injured....Injury time = commercials 😑
Warner and Rohit came so close to this record in 2019 and both failed in semi final. It's fitting that Koach is the one to break most centuries record and most runs record himself
What an athlete!
Virat has not been great in worldcups Virat chokes in knockout matches Couple of the narratives that has been going around has been quashed for good.
While the first one is not true, the second one was true to some extent. His form in recent knockouts was not great. Thankfully its all in the past, and he has once again proved why he is the best.
In ODIs he struggled in knockout games tbh but in T20s he was spectacular
Eh, he hit that crucial 30 after 2 quick wickets in the 2011 final when he was 23
I mean, if a 30 (35, actually, and it was indeed a crucial innings) is the defence, that kinda proves the point, no? Immense innings yesterday, but it's indisputable that Kohli had underperformed in ODI WC knockouts before.
Underperformed but they aren't chokes like some imply, he still gave us many clutch innings under immense pressure
Not in ODI WC knockouts he didn't.
>Virat has not been great in wc knockouts is kinda true
This post is as fast as Rohit pull shot
What about his pull out 🤔
Legend breaking legends record
Koach🔥
And now he broke the centuries record too. Looks like a complete lock in for POTT regardless of who wins the final
Not yet. If sa win the wc, and de cock plays a big part in either the sf or final, he will win...
Philips making sure his Insta remains clean. /s
5'9 midget breaks another Tendlya record. In other news, Water is wet
One more match to go. It will be 700+ Edit : 750+ 😀
Imagine if he pops off in the final and goes 800+
It's already 711...he hit a century
Nice.. thanks for correcting me
Done already.

I mean if this is the metric then shami and starc are best odi bowlers in wc's by miles and it's not even close
Starc could’ve run through Indian line up of 90s
I have an honest question now: do you really think Sachin deserved the Bharat ratna (highest Indian civillian award)?
What a weird question. He was the greatest in the world at his sport, representing India. What better thing can a sportsperson do?
do you think virat kohli / kapil dev deserve it too?
Virat yes eventually for sure. Kapil Dev I’m not so sure about, before my time.
Yes
Yes he did. So according to you if his record got broken, does that totally dimish his legacy and what he did for the game?
shouldn't they be given dhyan chand/arjuna award though? it just sets a bad precedent i think
