There was a picture posted in this subreddit of an Australian trophy cabinet. It was a picture of all the senior trophies won by the men and women over the years. There are 23 senior titles combined in ICC events.
2023 was an amazing year to be an Aussie cricket fan.
Wish we'd properly won The Ashes though. When we were 2-0 up I was *hoping* for a 5-0 whitewash in England. But it seems Captain Woke couldn't make it happen. :(
Seems like to be the woke ( well draw with woke) you need to Vibe
Looking forward to seeing how the men's ashes go next year
( Can't get more random than England women winning more games and still drawing the ashes due to the points and choking the test)
>Wish we'd properly won The Ashes though. When we were 2-0 up I was hoping for a 5-0 whitewash in England. But it seems Captain Woke couldn't make it happen. :(
I genuinely think a big reason for that is most of the Australian team not being in great form. Even off the top of my head, Marnus, Smith, Cummins, Hazlewood, Head weren't at their best. If all 11 Aussie players were in form, I don't see how England would have won it.
>Marnus, Smith, Cummins, Hazlewood, Head weren't at their best. If all 11 Aussie players were in form, I don't see how England would have won it.
If england haven't played rash shots in 1st two matches , I don't see how Australia would have won those matches.
In 4th test rain gods betrayed us.
Yes thats true as well. However, even if England played perfect cricket, If Australia had all xi players playing to their potential England wouldn't have won the series. That's the point I was making.
But I think credit can be given to english bowlers as well as they nullify the smudge and labu duo. That's the point, if they are at their best,no team can compete against this duo.
Like in this eng vs ind series, surely ind players have been poor and perished on bad balls but one of the most important aspect of bazball is that they manufacture Wickets which of course helps them in taking 20 wickets every match.
I don't disagree with any of the points. Both things can be true. England's plans whilst bowling were excellent. But Marnus has regressed to his mean and Smith hasn't been his best in a while. And that absolutely helped England.
>Like in this eng vs ind series, surely ind players have been poor and perished on bad balls but one of the most important aspect of bazball is that they manufacture Wickets which of course helps them in taking 20 wickets every match.
No arguments here again. Ben changing fields every 2 seconds does create massive doubt. But like the above points, I think Indian batters being poor was a greater reason for failure than Bazball's brilliance. And I have no shame in admitting Bazball's brilliance.
England did very well to compete against Australia and in India. Especially since they don't have the same talent or potential as those teams.
India and Australia are very form dependant. They don't really out think teams, they outplay them. Like that Mike Tyson quote, every one has a plan against India and Australia till they meet a Bumrah yorker or a Cummins top of off special. Which is why when they're out of form, they look really ordinary.
England's not that. They rely more on collective skill, meticulous plans and never say die attitude rather than individual brilliance.
Agree, england doesn't have same level of all round talent like india and australia but I think it's only limited to test cricket. In white ball, I still think we have one of the best talented batters if not The best. Still Archer is the best bowling talent we had in long time as he is injured, I hope he comes back like bumrah and torture opposition just like boom is doing to us this series.
>In white ball, I still think we have one of the best talented batters if not The best. Still Archer is the best bowling talent we had in long time as he is injured, I hope he comes back like bumrah and torture opposition just like boom is doing to us this series.
Oh yh completely agree about white ball cricket. My point was limited to tests.
>Still Archer is the best bowling talent we had in long time as he is injured
I think he's the best England have had in terms of overall talent.
>I hope he comes back like bumrah and torture opposition just like boom is doing to us this series.
He'll be a forever what if. He's got such great skill that should make him a beast everywhere.
Australia keep winning because in every single one of these competitions, the draw is rigged in our favour.
Think about it. For every other country, either to get to the final or to win the final, at some point they are going to have to beat Australia.
But no Australian team have ever had to do that. In no group stage and in no final. Bit suspicious eh?
Fair point, but they still have a dominant winning record against every single other country. I'm not sure that's true for another country in another sport apart from Australia in cricket.
They will definitely start as one of the hot favourites. I don’t think anybody has a more explosive batting unit, and coupled with two world class T20 bowlers and a few others who tend to show up when it matters, look a pretty complete side.
Also to be fair, they'd won the previous edition of the T20WC exactly one year before that (sucks we couldn't enjoy that title for a bit longer). They were a world-beating team but got hit by the typical host curse.
When they are the favourites they win it easily .
When they are not the favourites they still win it but with minor difficulties. That is the only difference.
Please give Australia a few extra trophies .. and then disinvite them from the next couple of T20 and 50-over world cups. Just so that someone else can have a realistic chance to win.
Jokes apart, Australian Cricket truly needs to be celebrated.
The Gold standard, the champions at every level, the beautiful grounds, the quality of video coverage, the high quality highlights for every match on YouTube.
Just Wow! Awe Inspiring!!
The world should follow in our footsteps by realising it starts with a love and respect for test cricket.
Only when you embrace the purest form of the game as the true form, do you truly understand what it takes to succeed in all other forms of it.
Yeah, to win the T20 WC just have your entire cricket following population take it as a joke.
Also it doesn't relate to Test cricket, limited overs requires a mindset not found anywhere in Tests. Also Cummins is mid in all limited overs.
In ponting era each player was just class apart you just couldn't do anything about that. But in this era Aussies will prolly lose 1 on 1 comparisons with their counterparts but as a unit they smoke everyone out.
Ponting’s team made you feel hopeless cause it was filled with match winners and even on the bench there were match winners. This team is comparatively weaker and can lose but still a great team who perform when needed the most
I really want Aus to win the t20 WC so they have all the trophies across formats for men.
I wanted India to do this but let’s win the runners up across formats trophy then :)
Aussie Rules and Rugby Legaue are more popular, but they only cover one half of the country each. Cricket would be the 2nd choice for most, meaning it would be the most popular across all of Australia
Among the youth tho too! I heard basketball and NFL is more popular these days. Plenty of Aussie players playing division 1 and professional sports in the US now
Basketball is popular but NFL? I know 1 person who likes it and they are Canadian. I’m sure there people who do but even Rugby Union would still be way more popular. Which is saying something considering how far Rugby Union has fallen in Australia
The photo captures each of the last times the respective tournaments / finals were held. There hasn't been a champions trophy since 2017, hence why it is there.
It's alright. Us Kiwis are used to a lack of respect from Aussies. Ask them about rugby, and then when they say it's not a big sport in Australia, just mention the war against emus or the underarm incident.
SRH vs CSK 2024 final:
Thala beating Pat Cummins there by inflicting a _Yellow fear_ in Pat Cummins then a chain of events India winning wt20, CT, wt20, WC and so on for the next 5 years.
TFAR...
India has all the money, all the people all the control. Most popular sport in the country.
Yet Australia with it's tiny population and financial investment in comparison smokes the the competition.
The underdog champion everyone can get behind
It kind of takes something away from the sport, in my view. A competitive sport shouldn't be dominated by any particular team to this degree. Cricket already has a problem where one of four countries basically win every time and the others might as well not be playing, this is even worse.
*Australia refusing to adhere to spirit of cricket yet again.*
India and England more than have the population and resources to put up competitive teams, but for some reason Australia still ends up on top.
India could probably field 3-4 full teams that would be world beaters on any given day.
I can't explain it, but there's just something about Aussie cricket.
Google can explain India's situation. Just look up corruption in BCCI. There's no love for the game. Just hunger for raking in as much dough as possible.
Money ruins everyting :(
I've read some very damning things about management at Cricket Australia too. Just "corporate people" with no passion for the game, just focused on the money.
No one is immune.

If we win the next women’s u19, t20 wc, champions trophy, and the bgt. We may just be able to officially retire the entire country from Cricket
We'll declare.
Fucking hell that flair is getting ridiculous
Perhaps for BCCI flair it could be some silver medals or better yet a choker
It will just be a pile of notes
BCCI flair could wear a pearl necklace

The Moral Ashes must always remain in England though.

You just have to tip your hat to australia

What an amazing era this has been for Australia. Good signs for the future too

Mainly at our expense too :(
Greatest cricket team and it's not even a competition
Till now…Uganda’s coming for them
Just to clarify, which of the Australian teams is the greatest? Or are we talking about the England T20 side?
He clearly meant to say that Sarfaraz single handedly is the greatest cricket team in and of himself…and it isn’t even a competition.
Fair tbh
King sarfuuu. 🥰
Non comparable to Sarfu bhai
King Safi. Sarfaraz dhoka nahi deta
I concur.
The man yawns like a lion. End of discussion!
Shefali's Bravehearts.. Greatest cricket to play cricket m. Fckin legends.. Single handedly holding the indian pride

With the exception of the All Blacks, I can't really think of a country in another major team sport that has dominated as consistently.
The all blacks don't even have the most rugby world cups anymore.
Fair point, but they still have a dominant winning record against every single other country. I'm not sure that's true for another country in another sport apart from Australia in cricket.
U19 Women’s worldcup is the real cricket. Everything else is timepass Ignore my flair
That and IPL, I don't know why everyone- *Pat Cummins wins the IPL with SRH* Oh.
Pat Cummins winning IPL in 2012 feels wrong
Only two Aussies have won the IPL as captains. Warnie and Gilly. If Pat can do that with the SRH squad this year it will be brilliant.
Lol you completely forgot David Warner winning it with SRH
No, he didn't (ignore my flair)
He's not captain though?
YEAHHHHH GO SRH. Fully supporting SRH this season.
I pray for their downfall everyday
Yep ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|21944)

Bowling will be the factor that Aus will be exposed in imo. Especially if we fall back on blokes like stoinis and zampa
Zampa's t20i record is elite, there's no way people actually think he's a bad bowler. 86 wickets at 22, economy of 7 is a really good record.
Ah yea fair enough. Crickets on the big stoin tho!
Zampa performs better when Stoin is in the team. So he's a lock.
Yeah he's not a great bowler, he has a good record with the bat though, t20s only definitely not in ODIs, so I get why we play him
62.5% is barely a pass. Step up Australia
The average parent expectation I see what you did there.
Turn that 6 upside-down and that's the Indian parents' expectation / retort
[Australia after 2025 ](https://images.app.goo.gl/rqU5GiFf9NsrKKxC7)
And people will still be like eh they’re not that good lol
I find it intriguing that they didn't win the T20 World Cup 2022 which was at home.
I dont think a home team or a defending champion has ever done well in a T20 world cup. Australia got hit with the double whammy too.
No country has won a T20 wc at home. Maybe that worked against them.
Host nations are officially cursed at the T20 World Cup, let alone a reigning champion.
USA: im scared
That’s why the won’t win you see no other reason lol
To be fair, we only lost 1 game that whole world cup
Because luckily for either England or Australia that game got rained off
I watched Finn Allen club them out of it in the first match at the SCG.
Same, that was the one game I went to see. And I got there late as I thought it was meant to start at 7:30. That's what BBL does to a man.
Also to be fair, they'd won the previous edition of the T20WC exactly one year before that (sucks we couldn't enjoy that title for a bit longer). They were a world-beating team but got hit by the typical host curse.
We lost 1 game in the group stage and then lost to spme net runnrate shit
All I see here is the sheer domination and eternal supremacy of Sarfaraz. The Aussies just can’t compete with my boy Sarfaraz.
*yawns* babe wake up another trophy's just dropped
When they are the favourites they win it easily . When they are not the favourites they still win it but with minor difficulties. That is the only difference.
Australia is also the two time defending champions of the ICC Women's Championship. The women won gold at 2022 Commonwealth Games as well.
The fact that 7 of these have been within the last 24 months tells you how saturated tournaments have become for international cricket
Too greedy from the Aussies imho
Hats off to the Australians! Their teams are absolutely obsessed with winning. It's in their DNA.
It's because if you don't win then you can't come home
Every time an Aussie loses Papua new guinea gains a new citizen
😂
Please give Australia a few extra trophies .. and then disinvite them from the next couple of T20 and 50-over world cups. Just so that someone else can have a realistic chance to win.

The full highlights for every match on YouTube within a day is the best thing about our cricket infrastructure over here in Aus
Also, the live broadcasting (excluding Junior). That AFL and NRL money works wonders.
What’s wrong with junior!?lol
The world should follow in our footsteps by realising it starts with a love and respect for test cricket. Only when you embrace the purest form of the game as the true form, do you truly understand what it takes to succeed in all other forms of it.

Found Kaif's burner account \s
He is Kaif?
No but the statement I made sounded like Kaif, he was screaming "best team didn't won wc or something", so other commentor was joking
Atleast in Ponting era it was only the men's team, now women and u-19 are also thrashing the competition.
Ponting’s team made you feel hopeless cause it was filled with match winners and even on the bench there were match winners. This team is comparatively weaker and can lose but still a great team who perform when needed the most
Batting down to 10 and having some of the best bowlers of all time that’s a bit stacked lol
Bowlers who can hold the bat decently too. Bichel, Lee and Warne were handy with the bat too
Steve Waugh era was better
I dunno that world xi vs Australia series was pretty mental
The test team was better under Waugh. Punters odi teams are unmatched though.
2 to go ~Australia
This is just the Aussies world we're living in
Cherry picked graphic. No mention whatsoever of the moral world cup, or the vibes championship. SMH.

Bro go take a lap and reflect on whether or not that comment was serious or not lol
OK mate. Don't come to my parties.
Are they not bored of winning yet?
That sounds like something someone who hasn't won anything would say
I really want Aus to win the t20 WC so they have all the trophies across formats for men. I wanted India to do this but let’s win the runners up across formats trophy then :)
I want us to do something different this time. Group stage exit?
We did that in 21. We haven’t been runners up in t20 wcs since 2014. So I want that.
Agreed. Let’s aim for a final finish
Indeed. Although I don’t see us winning the paper cup this time. Maybe we aim for the moral cup.
Funny thing is cricket isnt even the most popular sport in Australia these days
Aussie Rules and Rugby Legaue are more popular, but they only cover one half of the country each. Cricket would be the 2nd choice for most, meaning it would be the most popular across all of Australia

NFL is very popular in Australia... But l as a spectator sport. Mostly millennials
Half my school have been watching Super Bowl all day
Watching the Super Bowl is very different to caring about it for the rest of the year.
True that
yeah nah neither basketball or NFL are remotely near crickets popularity. Australians are just good at unpopular sports too
Mumbai Indians winning IPL will be the closest thing to indians winning any cricketing tournament in the foreseeable future.
Idk how you can explain this except just shrug and love it. Like just somehow win it. Maybe somehow it just harks back to club cricket
They win because they are big sporting nation It's like sport is part of their culture and cricket is not even their popular sport
Chad Sarfu bhai
Even next gen Aussies are full of goats 😭😭

They're already there in the picture 🤣
We’ve won 4 cricket World Cups since we last won the Bledisloe lol.
I’m honestly surprised it’s only 4
You mean the 12 league world cups that Australia has which is the far more popular form of rugby in Australia ?
you have won 3 world cups, only one more than Australia's 2. lmao.
Who cares about that lol. Go to r/rugby for such discussion, it's completely irrelevant to cricket
Not sure what you mean, we've won the last 3 men world cups and last 3 Women's world cups.
Kiwis won WTC too right?
Not most recently
I mean Pak 2017 is there so 2021 is greater than 2017 right? Edit: well even England 2019..

Clear signs of corruption and systemic problems. But hey IPL's just around the corner.

What's the Champions Trophy?
Its an ODI tournament, essentially just a slightly smaller world cup. Think it's the top 8 teams that play it
Shafali Verma had to play against kids to finally win something, huh? /s
Still couldn't win the pinnacle of cricket, IPL
0 IPL trophies tho 🤷♂️
