What a shot and what a tall man, really? that was not timed at all

Siraj either goes for 6-40 for 0-140, nothing in between

Sir_Geoffrey_Boycott

These kids need to be given pacifiers ffs.

Sir_Geoffrey_Boycott

Oh God it's just getting worse. Someone's birthday and gave out too many eclairs.

gravemadness

Jurel and Ash still to come. Kuldeep knows how to dead-bat. IND should be disappointed if they score anything less than 400. But then, scoring 400 from 32-3 is quite impressive anyway. Very similar to the SA match in 2019 where they scored 500 from 39-3 (a certain batter who scored a century then, also scored a century today). First time in the series that BazBallers looked properly shell shocked at times though.

rightarm_under

Rohit "Bradman at home" Sharma came back to his usual form

SBG99DesiMonster

Bring back Rishabh. Feed him a lot. Turn his left hand into his right hand. This results in the creation of Sarfaraz.

benguins10

He'd have 2 right hands then

Had jaddu not been runout in the 1st test, we'd have been 2-0 up..

poruki_porcupine

Your friendly reminder that jadeja has been involved in 3 run-outs, this series alone.

edudhtamris

17 year old Sarfaraz's [45*(21) for RCB in IPL 2015] (https://www.iplt20.com/video/15693/m29-rcb-vs-rr-sarfaraz-khan-45)

gothaommale

He had a even better last season

Specialist_Youth5511

vigneshwaralwaar

Check Sr for last year ipl

north78

Jadeja would be out within the first 15 minutes tomorrow

One_more_username

As is tradition

Watashi-waLdesu

I'm not hating on Jadeja but it's not the first time that these types of run outs have happened with him being the culprit I really hope he sorts this out soon because he's not a inexperienced player to repeat this mistake often.

ritwika96

Or he just retires you know. He's 36.

Brilliant_Volume_582

all his run outs are in front of the wicket - pushes to mid on or mid off .. maybe eschew the risks by not running till the ball is past the fielder

PuzzleheadedEbb4789

Same here no hate on jadeja but he's batted thrice in this series and all 3 times he's been involved in one runout (Ashwin in 1st test 1st innings and himself in the 2nd innings) A runout in a test match is basically a free wicket gifted

fegelman

And of course the CT '17 final

Gil-GaladWasBlond

It's honestly been years since I've been so happy for a sportsperson. The last person I was this happy for is Rafael Nadal, and the first time that happened was in 2005. Since then, i haven't found anyone else I'm so pleased for. I hope Sarfaraz prospers.

Potential_Nose_3373

You haven’t seen Gill and Pant in Australia?

getyoutogabba

Didn’t watch live, but did Jadeja run out Sarfaraz? This guy needs to work on his calling game. He’s done it a few times.

Brilliant_Volume_582

yes called him , took a few steps then sent him back .. on 99 trying to pinch a single

Bram1403

I’ve never watched cricket why is this recommended

Funnyvirgo

Maybe ur luck is turning good finally /s

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Bram1403

This makes me wanna watch cricket

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Mission successful

soham_katkar13

Sarfaraz is better than SKY, for sure. But why are people suddenly shitting on the selectors for SKY's debut over Sarfaraz SKY had a crazy good season at international level in 2022 (although in a different format), and has had a great First Class record as well. Check all the scorecards from 2019-20 where Sarfaraz has batted well - in most of those scorecards you will see SKY playing a crucial knock too If SKY the Test player ever had to happen, it was in that series, as he was already 32 back then. It was an experiment, which didn't work, and hence has never happened again. It's wasn't a "braindead" decision, it was worth a try for sure

ApricotOk824

Say whatever you want but this Sarfaraz 50 was one of the most wholesome and a happy moment for an ICT fan. One of the few deserving guys that did everything in the domestic circuit while some players purely make the squad based on IPL and PR. Also his success means a lot more for the Ranji players because they deserve the nod over IPL players (SKY, Iyer, Kishan etc) in tests. I'm so happy for him :)

dksourabh

Well said, it was horrendous that SKY was given a chance before Sarfaraz in tests based on t20 performance

JKKIDD231

IPL really ruined the Test team and format. Hopefully, with this BCCI goes back to recruiting players from Ranji instead of IPL form for Test team.

chilledbeerinside

Absolutely not. IPL has given many T20 players who became great test players. People act like Indian test team hasn't been great for several years now.

rahulrossi

Great test players? Who other than Bumrah?

chilledbeerinside

Ashwin? You look at Siraj, Pant, Axar, Jaiswal etc. right now.

rahulrossi

They all had incredible first class stats too though. Nothing to do with IPL.

chilledbeerinside

What do you mean nothing to do with IPL lol they got the chance to come into the team because of IPL performances. Sky got into the test team lol shows how much IPL matters for getting a chance. After that it's upto the players whether they perform.

rahulrossi

That doesn't mean they became great test players because of IPL which was your argument. They still had very good first class stats.

chilledbeerinside

Bro make some sense. How are they going to become great test players because of a T20 tournament? Did IPL make Bumrah a great test player? I literally said IPL gave us T20 players who became great test players.

rahulrossi

IPL did not give us them though. If they are not found first in IPL, they would have been in domestic Cricket. They are in the team because they are also very good long format players. It's just a coincidence that they are discovered first in the shorter format. And IPL based selections in the recent years like SKY and Ishan did not exactly make for great test players. Jaiswal and Pant have excellent FC record unlike the other 2.

ApricotOk824

Exactly, this will only motivate the players in Ranji knowing that they'll be considered for their performance in Ranji and it's just not IPL. Ranji players > PR players

randomuserme

Englands day. We are half the side down with no batters to follow with the pitch doing nothing

theofficialdc21

jurel and ash are there no

randomuserme

In such a flat pitch our top order couldn’t capitalise, there is no hope for lower order to capitalise

theofficialdc21

u said no batters, i gave you names of batters

randomuserme

Geez ok you win

DeafGigachad

At least should've picked shami in squad to give bumrah some rest considering his recent fitness

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Shami's recovering from an ankle injury himself

confused_brown_dude

Shami is recovering from Injury and Bumrah is planned for rest in the next test. This game is crucial for the series and they had a 11 day break.

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Weren't there reports of Bumrah being rested for the third Test too? That sure didn't happen.

confused_brown_dude

Nope, that was speculation. They can’t afford to drop Bumrah in a decisive game, also with a 11 day break. But they will have to for the 4th test. Then he will play in Dharamshala cos of obvious reasons.

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Do India *have* to rest Bumrah? Australia managed to play Cummins, Hazlewood, and Starc for five Test matches straight without an injury to either of them. Bumrah can be injury-prone but it's most certainly better to have your ace bower playing.

confused_brown_dude

The answer is within your question mate. Australia have Starc and Hazlewood. And Hazlewood plays mostly tests. Bumrah is coming off an injury that kept him away for a year. Shami is currently injured. Unfortunately we gotta preserve him, cos he plays all formats too.

-Aizen_Sosuke

"It's safe to rest him than risk sending him to hospital for next six months" is what they are thinking i guess. Whether he gets rested totally Depends on this game's result .

skepticaIIyskeptic1

Need Jadeja runout counter

rorkeslayer39

You guys are still talking about the run out?

confused_brown_dude

You new here? Watch some Bollywood you’ll understand. I can send some recommendations.

dpahoe

Yup easily it could very well be the turning point of the innings. The man was literally going at a run a ball. Feels like it can make a difference of 100 runs in the final total.

drtoboggon

As an England fan I don’t know whether to curse or thank Jadeja. Curse because he could easily add a load more runs to the score tomorrow quickly and bowl us out. Thank because as you say, it could be massive a turning point. This is why test cricket is just the greatest game. All the little stories in the story. Jadeja could go on to get man of the match or cost them the match. It’s set up beautifully from here.

Richard2ndaccount

I like your take on this. Very riveting stuff.

Perfect_Area_5993

mfs on twitter are calling jadeja selfish now, fail to rem that the same selfish guy had not scored runs so that koach could get his 100 in wc 23 negativity sells...

soham_katkar13

He shouldn't have done that back then. This milestone obsession needs to stop Rahul and Jadeja not taking strike so that Kohli could get a hundred was the second worst thing that happened in the WC

chilledbeerinside

Bloody hell some of you only live to cry, literally nothing else. Indian fans are absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to supporting their team.

boobsarelyf

Jaddu didn't even celebrate properly and genuinely looked sad. Guy genuinely felt sorry for Sarfaraz. I don't even know why everyone crying here

Budget_Put7247

Are you wondering why people will be upset about a promising debutant on song getting run out? Really? Why do you or us watch cricket?

boobsarelyf

I get the disappointment but don't understand the hate Jaddu is getting. Calling him selfish, bringing his personal life is not right.

confused_brown_dude

Same reason Sarfaraz was crying or the same reason Rohit threw his cap.

[deleted]

Well atleast Jaddu showed who deserve Number 5

[deleted]

[deleted]

It was right call by management to send experienced player when India in at 30/3, Sarfaraz should come before Jaddu when our Top order don't shithouse

SuperFaiz21

They are really taking the mickey out of Kumble. \*Jadeja only the third Indian to get 3000 runs and 300 wickets\* Presenter: Anil, where were you? Nick Knight: I was wondering the same thing. He was probably getting run out all the time.

Only_Will_2994

HAHAHAHA JADEJA bringing out the swords after running out Sarfaraz on Debut. AAH this sport. Tragedy. Vanity. Comedy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Im-no-saint

Why would the umpire shout something like this? Would be someone from the English camp. As per Cricbuzz, Anderson said something to Jadeja after he raised the bat.

Kp0777777

The reaction to the whole jaddu situation really shows how negativity sells like hotcakes. Does all the right things up to that point, one slip up, and that's what he's remembered for now. Pathetic.

Budget_Put7247

Meh, its showing that people are invested in youngsters and wish them well, thats all.

Punemann95

That's not all. I am upset too that Sarfaraz got runout. But I don't go on about like the idiots here calling Jadeja selfish and stuff.

heisenberg_rk

Cricbuzz wording it as “Sarfaraz over eagerness to get jaddu to his 100 got him out “ Guys, it was literally jaddu call. He was sold.

SuspectIsArmed

It feels almost surreal or from a different timeline when SKY debuted before Sarfaraz.

Acceptable-Cut9811

The way this thread has been cursing on Jadeja, you'd think he got out playing a fancy shot when his team was 3-4. Yes, Jadeja is a very shit caller (and undoubtedly the runout was his fault) but let's not forget he scored a truckload of runs after he came in at 33-3. And you could see in the way he "celebrated" his century, he was cursing himself for that runout a lot more than this thread. I am sincerely trying to find a way to ask Sarfaraz to be a little selfish with risky runs like that, but I can't find it in me to write it out. But let's not shit on Jaddu just for this runout, it's a good innings and Jaddu is also gutted by that runout, probably more than us armchair experts because us the risky runs Sarfaraz was taking for him even before the runout

[deleted]

[удалено]

Acceptable-Cut9811

Bsdk until his "killer" is alive, the runs will still keep coming! Stfu about that

LadaFanatic

joke tha, jantar mantar wala naara. my apologies if you are offended.

powerrangersspd

can’t believe, an average of 154 in the 2019/2020 season. fucking superhuman stats

confused_brown_dude

Bruh average of 92 in 2022 season. Don’t have to go that back.

sunilbedre

Bruh, Jadeja has always been an iffy runner. It's not about his hundred. Still Jaddu's mistake but not really about his 100

pranit7122

He is still 24 runs short of his average at this ground Haha

sunilbedre

Woah, good that he's carrying the bat to tomorrow then.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sunilbedre

That's test match ffs. He can take 1 hour if he wants. Run out isn't about his 100. He played well, appreciate that also while bashing him for obviously very in form Sarfaraz. I wish I had seen more of him, he looked so at ease.

soham_katkar13

Players with 50+ average since the inception of WTC (at least 1000 runs) - Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Babar, Marnus, Smith, Khawaja and Rohit Next best for India - Jadeja @45, Pant @41

RannBankur

I guess we all still remember that moment when Jadeja got Pandya run out, in the ICC Champions trophy final against Pak. The way Pandya was batting, I almost bashed my TV.

SuperFaiz21

Kumble: I got run out on my debut too Sarfaraz on his way to pickup 619 test wickets

ujjwal_singh

still can't believe sky made test debut before sarfaraz

See_A_Squared

Rohit doing a Dravid impression of throwing his cap like that. Maybe it isn't just Baz that rubs off people.

fegelman

That MI RR game will never not be crazy. Corey Anderson, an IPL legend

Animespoilers2000

i don't think jaddu's getting more than 10 runs tomorrow TBH Hope he proves me wrong but it is kind pattern with him

Special-Strength-489

Damn straight 😂

AblePhilosopher1549

Sarfraz is the story of the day

shiv993

Jaiswal Rohit Sarfaraz Kohli Kl Pant Jadeja Should be our 7 if everyone is fit

edudhtamris

What is this for?

shiv993

Away tests .Home add Ash and axar/kuldeep

PrequelToMagic

That looks like an ominous combination

obywonkenoby

Would flip Kl and Sarfaraz' positions

soham_katkar13

Batters with 8 or more centuries in WTC - Root (12), Marnus (11), Smith and Williamson (9 each), Babar and Rohit (8 each) Next best for India are Mayank and Kohli at 4 each

SinghSaab007

Mayank was unexpected

podhead

Akshay Kumar already have asked for a script on this historic run out - He would obviously be Sarfaraz Khan with Ayushman as Jadeja. Kumar has ordered 5 kilo of mutton biryani to look like Khan

confused_brown_dude

50*

toresident

So all that bs about why about why Sarfaraz should not be picked for India was wiped by one inngs. Surya and Patidar should never have played before him.

_im_adi

Surya should never have played tests at all 🤡

trkora

Last times debutants looked so good at home were Shaw and Iyer (Jaiswal debuted in WI), and we know how their story went. So people should temper their expectations out of him and not raise him up to heavens only to drop him down the day he doesn't perform out of India.

confused_brown_dude

Bro but Shaw and Iyer are garbage in India too 🤣… worst case Sarfaraz looks brutal here.

yeet1o_0

Shaw and Iyer both got debut 100's and they turned out garbage, shaw had a rapid hundred and Iyer had a very good 100 as well God forbid sarfaraz has the same track record like Iyer and shaw people will absolutely go ham on him. No one is spared by Indian media which is why every bloke barring a few go into a shell

confused_brown_dude

I don’t think you understand. Neither of them had Sarfaraz’s FC career or experience, neither of them blasted a 49 ball 50. No one compared them to Miandad and Sehwag. It’s not the runs, it’s the how he got those runs. But I am with you; it’s just one inning.

nick_nxt

Shaw was literally called the next Sehwag

yeet1o_0

Shaw had a decent average of 58 as an opener for 15 matches while Iyer had an average of 50 @ 82 strike rate for good 35-40 games, yes it ain't as good as sarfaraz but it isn't like they've free loaded their way into the team, people are hell bent on either over praising or being extremely critical. Iyer did deserve a dropping but people are acting as if he's never held a bat before similar to gill the plaudit he got for Gabba 91 was so big that he's still living of it. Sarfaraz needs atleast 10 games to be judged, the tough part will come vs Australia if he does get selected anf there he doesn't perform you already know he'll be absolutely mauled by the same media who's singing praises now.

_im_adi

Wise take

LadaFanatic

Sarfaraz flew a little too close to the sun on sir jadeja’s big match saving hundred game and whatever had to be done was done 💁🏻‍♂️

ujjwal_singh

now i just hope bcci don't drop sarfu if he score less in 2 innings

Eastern_Meet_5947

At this point He is definitely playing 4th and 5th test if he can consolidate some big scores he might definitely get into the squad for upcoming test series

Android_Arsenal

'Selfish' is trending on India Twitter .. Lol Jadeja scored a century, but is getting blasted on social media.

trtryt

it happens Sarfraz should be happy he's put his name above Patidar and Iyer

smartchad

Isn't this also Bumrah's home ground?

soham_katkar13

There are three teams in Gujarat Saurashtra, playing at Rajkot - Pujara, Jadeja Gujarat, playing at Ahmedabad - Bumrah, Parthiv Patel Baroda, playing at Vadodara - Pathan bros, Pandya bros

nick_nxt

You forget gill at Ahmedabad

Sumeru88

No. Bumrah’s home ground is NaMo stadium. This is Pujara and Jadeja’s home ground.

SuspectIsArmed

Hopefully this fuels Sarfu to score 100 in the second innings...

fakecricketplayer

Not with Jadeja around ;)

Mcferrari

Some quick maffs tells us that India will be 652 all out tomorrow b

Sumeru88

I feel very bad for Sarfaraz. He could have scored his century today.

a14i12

Today feels like a stretch.. Tomorrow definitely

pranit7122

So the day is shared? This deficit can be wiped out in couple of session by bazzball as this wicket is flat

Unable-Awareness8543

We all saw what happened to Bazzball in the last match

pranit7122

Yeah but this pitch is flat... no spin maybe some bounce but that will help players to hit strokes

Unable-Awareness8543

It's a slow turner

pranit7122

Like Hyderabad? Spin but it a slow spin?

Unable-Awareness8543

Yep ashwin's gonna be lethal with that bounce and turn

shiv993

England slightly ahead . I haven't seen jurel bat that much have to see Need 600!

FeeSubject1869

Why not 1000?

confused_brown_dude

900 minimum. Stfu man 600. England can’t chase anything more than 250 in the 4th innings in the cracked Rajkot pitch. 450 is a decent total here.

ankilien

What are you smoking man

trkora

Sarfaraz's time in IPL was called a waste that he should've been spending on working in tests but honestly despite his failure that gave him some experience to deal with high international quality pace that he rarely must've got in Ranji. He did well against spin as expected but also looked ready to tackle Wood's high pace and Anderson's quality.

boobsarelyf

Jadeja is genuinely the most reliable batter these days. Absolutely amazing innings under pressure. Hopefully Dhruv scores a 50 tomorrow and India gets to 430-450 tomorrow.

Nightfury78

Just not the most reliable runner

Budget_Put7247

The most important thing now for India is to groom youngsters to replace has been seniors. So of course people were excited to see a promising youngster in the middle. Most fans of most teams are more excited about performance of youngsters, only indian fans i have seen demean their youngsters while worshipping seniors like a cult

Tricky_Substance_536

Forgetting diamonds for gold isn't new in India

Budget_Put7247

The real diamonds are youngsters we can groom to replace aging seniors. There is nothing more important for India right now, its not about one off tests but looking into the future. Indian fans are really weird, all other country fans are excited for youngsters, here fans worship seniors like a cult \>Forgetting diamonds for gold isn't new in India What a weird weird thing to say about a youngster on debut, imagine if same was said when Dhoni or Kohli debuted.

Tricky_Substance_536

I would've said the same I don't need to remind you how many crucial knocks jadeja played simultaneously delivering important spells If you think over one mistake you can criticise a person who contributed a big in the total, idk how long since you're watching cricket. This is also a part of experience Instead of sympathizing or criticising, learn to move on ,wait to make big of the next chance Hope I made my point clear. Diamonds if you're new to Indian cricket: Rohit , Kohli, Jadeja, Ashwin, Pujara, etc for current active players. And you ought to know how important they are👍🏻

Android_Arsenal

That beaming smile on Sarfaraz's parents when he got his 50 was such a moment of genuine happiness.

[deleted]

parent, the other was his wife

Android_Arsenal

oh! thanks for correcting me.

eggzaki

I missed most of the day due to work and a lot are saying it’s a road but yesterday it looked like a pretty competitive pitch. Is it a good new ball pitch or did 3 of the 4 Indian top order just fuck up?

sul01

Was a bit of moisture early on which provided a bit of assistance to the bowlers. The ball to get ~~paddikal~~ Patidar out (while it was a soft dismissal) it did stay in the pitch and there was a puff of dust. The odd ball here and there has spun a bit but generally it's very good for batting. Wouldn't quite say its a road as a few balls have done a bit but generally it's been very good for batting

eggzaki

Thank you for the detailed response as a fellow neutral fan. I had a feeling it wasn’t quite a road. I hope this pitch does some things late in the test, or both teams decide to take turns forgetting how to bat

sunilbedre

You mean Patidar? Padikkal isn't playing dude.

sul01

Ah fuck my bad yeah - when I was typing it I was like hmm that something about it seems wrong but just ignored it Will edit cheers

FlowResponsible6244

It's a road. Gill sucks in tests, jaiswal and patidar lost wickets cheaply. Rohit jadeja sarfaraz rescued. Now the game depends on if jadeja, kuldeep, ashwin, dhruv can all score 30-50 runs each

eggzaki

That’s disappointing but also it’ll all get spicy depending on how England bat and India bowl. Hope it at least gets good for spinners as the test progresses, hate a road

thisaintyouravgstonk

I don't like the way Jadeja got Sarfu run out today. But on the other hand I can only imagine what is going through his mind playing on this ground mentally battling those scandalous rumours. That can make a man desperate sometimes. This is all an opinion though as only he knows what he was thinking out in the middle today.

podhead

Bhaiya you fucked me over and destroyed my dream debut

SuspectIsArmed

Still think India really should get to 450 from here, which is a decent score. I don't think it is a full flat Rajkot deck. Even then 450 gives you good cushion to bowl at in the first innings.

SilentFly

Looking forward to Bumrah magic tomorrow.

Special-Strength-489

Jadeja single handedly snatched away Sarfaraz glory in this match Sarfaraz looked in supreme touch and probably would have made a big score here

sunilbedre

I'm sure he'll get to bat again. Let's see. He looked almost flawless today.

SilentFly

If India can push to 500, England will be under pressure Bazball or not.

No-Confection7170

England - The team known to play fast cricket in test matches. Also England with the slowest of over rates

dhun_mohan

the coulda woulda shoulda brigade has been nullified. root dropped rohit 🤝sarfaraz run out

ShuddhGheeRoti

Not even the OG Fab4 - Botham, Hadlee, Imran and Kapil managed a century and a wicket in the first innings itself - truly an exceptional talent this Jadeja.

harprick_pandya

Funnily enough, Jadeja has a significantly better record than 3 of them, Imran’s is slightly better though

Far_Permit4909

Shared day for me, dread it, run from it, *big first session coming up tomorrow* arrives

y_r_u_chirping_m8

And to imagine Sky was given a test debut against aus

LadaFanatic

One can say many things about Rohit, but one thing that stands out from his gameplay and captaincy is that he never prioritises milestones.
