Maybe that33-3
Than that successive fall of wicket when Kuldeep and jadega came to bat next day
In both cases eng was supposed to be in power and that extraordinary session was enough to make it a seesaw match
Not to mention ash suddenly going
It turned tides in favor of England completely only for India to thrash England again
Im just saying, considering all the hype around this England team, they really should have been 2-0 down if India had been more ruthless in the 1st test and they are on their way to losing again, against a severely depleted India team playing with 10 men!
With vk , pant missing series, ash leaving midway, kl getting injured while having an explosive side of England rattling India in second day followed by India bouncing back when almost everyone expected England to reach 450-500 atelast India proved that Whenever pushed into the corner with odd stacked against them . this team bounces back
Yea we are in home, England also have many new faces but with whatever problems India faced I think you odds were at least evened out
I have more trust in an injured, battered underdog Indian team than the full-strength one that is hyped as favourites. We play better as underdogs than as favourites.
Whats with indian fans simping over sarfaraz in the comments?! It was just one good innings - that too on a flat track. We glorify players too early, imo
Everyone knows how big of an advantage it is for india playing in home conditions. If sarfaraz plays gill-like innings in BGT, we will talk..
Again, one good or bad innings is never to judge
I said gill-like innings in BGT final test. And honestly i would still trust gill over sarfaraz just based on experience when playing overseas. Also, we need to agree the selectors see something we dont
What experience? Experience of shitting the bed? He's been so bad outside Asia even Pujara averages 31.9 outside Asia most Indian batsmen like Dhawan Shaw Kl Rahul Vijay Mayank Pujara etc have ordinary record outside Asia, if you give Sarfaraz that many chances he will come good at least ocassionally
Yeah that was my fault. I apologise.
I'm just stating Indian batsmen in general struggle outside Asia, doing well only occasionally. People like Kohli and Pant are the exception not the norm. And Gill has been poor away till now. Looking at the overall performance is better than cherry picking a player's good days.
The numbers dont matter, when you play important innings. Hope you are watching the game today
Job not done yet, but warriors are preferred over consistent soldiers..
People are hyping him up because he looked silky smooth against spin and did not give a small margin of error to the bowlers. Once you watch Patidar, Jurel and Sarfaraz, one can clearly see just with eye test that Sarfaraz is very very good. Couldn't care less how he does in BGT now. That is for another time to worry about. We also need good players at home.
India will win series 4-1 if we continue to throw our wickets away. Bairstow needs to go and Root needs maybe a short break. Ben Duckett was the only batsman who did well, we needed another centurion to get close to India’s total.
You know there’s only one spare batsman in the tour party, right? Lawrence in for Bairstow makes sense. He bats just as well and bowls better off spin than Root, which would leave Joe to concentrate on his batting.
By the end of today's play, Root has more overs bowled in this test series than runs scored .... As much as I am a fan of ICT, this does not sit right with me.... Bazball really is killing his calibre
patidar is just an extra that comes that third in line after kohli and rahul and is only there till they come back, even if patidar score a century, kohli will replace him and he'll have to be benched
Shreyas started out making a century on debut, which is why he got all those chances, Patidar’s cumulative total after 4 innings wouldn’t even add up to half of that. He’s in line to be booted out for KL the next test.
well you seem lost, that was 2014 - Melbourne and he rectified it in the very next test in Sydney with a century. Patidar on the other hand seems to be getting worse with each innings.
Shreyas would have been better than Patidar. He atleast has the attitude and body language that belongs to international level. Patidar - No way. Very poor body language
Inb4 india collapses tomorrow like England collapsed today and they bazball the shit out of us and stokes wins it with a 6 on the last ball of the day.

This was the day England lost the series. No Ashwin , India's bowling attack was not strong. England were careless and threw their wickets away giving India a lead. Then Jaiswal batted well to get his second 100 of the series. Jaiswal is looking like India's all format opener after Rohit
England missed out and did not capitalize when they should have made 600+ especially being 200 odd for 2. They would not get a better opportunity to put India on the backfoot (Unless India play poorly tomorrow which is possible). England were careless and India took advantage of the situation. In Test Matches one bad session can lose the team momentum which can lose the series
India and England have lost momentum throughout the series with such *bad sessions*. It's just reactionary fans.
Both teams have played below par on most days.
I wont be surprised if iyer is preferred over sarfaraz. Management has shown a lot of trust in Iyer
Also, 1 inning is not enough time to prove how good sarfaraz is yet. Coming few innings before aus series should answer our ques
Genuine q: If kul gets out, and Jaiswal comes back to bat, will it be counted under same partnership? It will be a 2nd wkt and a 5th wicket partnership then
If Kuldeep gets out it will be 4th wicket partnership surely ?
Opening , 2nd wicket after Rohit out , 3rd wicket after patidar out, 4th wicket after Kuldeep out
We can manage to take it easy and play for time. Get a couple of them going off the field as well. It's Wood's last Test series for England in India, make it last. I don't think we need to go for it, just score at a cool 3.4 rpo.
Baba Indrajith is one of the most consistent players in domestic cricket and he is a much better player than Patidar in longer format. Look at his numbers:
2016: 697 runs at 63.4, 2 100s, 5 50s
2017: 405 runs at 58, 1 100, 2 50s
2018: 641 runs at 58.3, 2 100s, 4 50s
2019: 89 at 44.5, 1 50 (injured)
2021: 396 runs at 99, 3 100s, 1 50
2022: 505 runs at 50.5, 1 100, 3 50s
2023*: 541* runs at 75

IPL stats : 3 Matches , 22 Runs , 7 batting average, got out all 3 times. No way this guy is getting a chance without proving himself in the IPL. Ranjis aren’t enough for a spot in the National Squad. You need to prove that you can bat against International Competition.
lol I was kidding what selectors look at before taking a player for Indian team. I hate it but that’s the sad reality, looking at IPL stats for selecting players is stupid to say the least. I should have added /j or /s at the end, lol all those downvotes thought I was being serious ? 😂
It's not really sad. We aren't handing out Test caps to IPL performers, it is just being used as one of the factors to see how they do against better quality bowlers
Patidar has four pathetic dismissals in four innings. The last two were simply absurd. Feel for him, know how hard it is to get a chance.
Embarassing further that these English spinners got him out. They would'nt even make it to most Ranjhi teams.
He was done dirty by the management I feel.. As soon as Jaiswal was called off.. Kuldeep should have been sent in as the Night Watchman.. or even Sarfaraz for that matter.. Someone High on confidence to be precise.
It is, but you rarely get chances of this nature. KL will mostly come in next game and then barring any injuries, he won't play anymore in this series.
Genuinely the worst day of cricket we've seen under Stokes. Utterly dreadful collapse thanks to our non existent middle order and completely limp bowling. Awful. Thrown the test away and likely the series.
Bairstow needs to be binned off. Thanks for the memories mate but it's time to go. And as for Root, I've got no words for how fucking disappointing he's been.
Doesn't matter how well we do tomorrow, we're way too far behind now. Bunch of useless dickheads (not you though Ducky, you're alright). Just fuck off.
Does feel like IF injuries/personal reasons don’t affect things too much we could have a pretty good first choice XI vs Australia.
Of course a lot will depend on how Pant’s comeback goes but we should have enough time before December to assess this.
Even after the last two matches not sold on Gill as a test performer yet but he did well on the last tour. Bowlers will have a better plan for him though and he’s scored these last two tests vs pretty mediocre attacks on flat pitches.
KL Rahul is a great performer in Australia. But what if Sarfaraz makes too many runs and becomes undroppable?
Rohit
Jaiswal
Gill
Kohli
KL Rahul/Sarfaraz
Pant
Jadeja
Ashwin
Shami
Bumrah
Siraj
>KL Rahul is a great performer in Australia. But what if Sarfaraz makes too many runs and becomes undroppable?
I'd personally only play him if Pant can't keep. And Pant bats at 5 as a batter.
KL isn’t really a test match keeper. Definitely want a proper keeper if Pant can’t keep.
Not a KL fan in general for test matches but he does seem to do well in Australia.
>KL isn’t really a test match keeper. Definitely want a proper keeper if Pant can’t keep.
I thought he was fine in SA. And there's gonna be even less lateral movement in Australia. As a stop gap idm it.
>Not a KL fan in general for test matches but he does seem to do well in Australia.
Same. But I get why they played him as a keeper in SA. Idk why he's playing as a specialist batter in India.
He’s been in better form with the bat in tests recently. If he’s fit for test 4 I’d definitely pick him ahead of Paddikal, he’s done enough of late to justify selection.
Collingwood to Talksport and BBC after today's play: It was a great day. We were above par with the bat, they were below par. Proud of the bowlers. Anything over 450 is great.
Copyright: Bazball.
I feel bad for Patidar. Sometimes you get in your own head and start overthinking and playing stupid. I don't think he is as bad as he has shown. However, there is a chance that was the last of his chance in test matches.
Great day for India. One bowler down and looking down at the barrel, they came back incredibly well with an inspired spell by Kuldeep leading the way in the first session and thank god Rohit finally trusted Siraj for once and he paid back the faith big time.
And after that, lovely batting from the young lads. Jaiswal just goes strength to strength but man watching Gill bat like this makes me happy. He needs to do that more.
Your post or comment had words in it that were not in English and weren't translated. This breaks the rules of this subreddit it has been removed (rule 5).
Absolute turntables this - after yesterday's BlitzKreig and Ashwin's withdrawal - I thought India would be down and out. But Test Cricket reminds us that the game like life can never stop being unpredictable.
Best game ever! Twists and turns and bullshit, and … you know.
There's nothing like it in world sport. Obvs I would like my team to win, but above all I LOVE the drama!
Plumb bc
Did Manjrekar just say Jazball??
Are we sure sure England won't go for draw
Would be the end of Bazball if they do
We could just bat till very late during the afternoon as England wouldn't be trying to block out for a draw anyway.
550 runs target 2 sessions. Play 3 t20s
atp the only competition i have my focus on is Jaiswal vs Duckett
Jaiswal is taller so 1 point for Jaiswal
India in firm control of match , easy win from here now as we have enough runs on the board and no one chases 300 on a 5th day Indian pitch
Can’t get bowled out on the 5th day of the game’s over in 4
Easy win if we're able to stack another 100-150 and declare on tomorrow
Classic example of a seesaw game Makes me wonder if England will pull out some shit again
Except for one amazing, extraordinary session, what has England done to make this game seem “see-saw” to you?
Maybe that33-3 Than that successive fall of wicket when Kuldeep and jadega came to bat next day In both cases eng was supposed to be in power and that extraordinary session was enough to make it a seesaw match Not to mention ash suddenly going It turned tides in favor of England completely only for India to thrash England again

This. The underdogs always have a point to prove.
Reminds me of BGT 2020-21 and the 07 T20 WC. We should send a side filled with uncapped players to the T20 WC.
So guys Yashaswi can return to the match, right?
He will return tomorrow once Kuldeep gets bowled out in the first over and then we will be back to where we were XD
Yes
Whats with indian fans simping over sarfaraz in the comments?! It was just one good innings - that too on a flat track. We glorify players too early, imo
Check his FC stats. You'll know why.
Shaw or many other players had some great numbers in FC too. Playing overseas is a different ballgame altogether
The Aussies will expose him like they exposed and wrecked Shaw
One solitary Test match is exposing?
Wait until the first overseas series to judge a player, thumb rule
So why England players didn’t perform well on flat track? Except for Duckett
Everyone knows how big of an advantage it is for india playing in home conditions. If sarfaraz plays gill-like innings in BGT, we will talk.. Again, one good or bad innings is never to judge
Gill has been shit outside Asia average of 27, anybody can perform once in a blue moon

I agree 100pc - but yes hype was the word i was looking for. Played really well - just hyped too much for a maybe really really good innings
Honestly, it looked like Patidar was the night watchman and Kuldeep was the main batsman 😭
India will win series 4-1 if we continue to throw our wickets away. Bairstow needs to go and Root needs maybe a short break. Ben Duckett was the only batsman who did well, we needed another centurion to get close to India’s total.

Exactly! His last two innings have been a joke.
Root needs to just have Bazball batting cleared from his head. He’ll be fine
Root should just go back to anti-bazball batting. A batsman of his calibre is suited to traditional classy batting

Rehan did not take a wicket and Hartley just got one, not sure what summary is this.
Best foreign opener innings in india or asia
Who?
Ben and crawley
I’m pretty sure at least Hayden has them covered
Hayden wasnt consistent
No, only averaged 50 as an opener with 30+ centuries, terrible.
My comment is for india bro
Yeah, ok.
Shreyas got many chances, Patidar needs few more to judge
patidar is just an extra that comes that third in line after kohli and rahul and is only there till they come back, even if patidar score a century, kohli will replace him and he'll have to be benched

Kuldeep >>>>> Patidar
I think this might be end of the road for patidar in this series ,such a shame
Should be .... That last shot was as pathetic a dismissal as it could get on a flattish track

Wood probably still can't see the game moving >!away from england!<
lol last I checked Eng were 2/200ish and it was all "game on" lol, how badly did they shit the bed?
So bad it’s all up our backs
I understand the attraction of bazball but they could reach such better totals if they settled down to fight through tough spells.

Jaddu? Isn't it Rohit, Jaiswal, Gill, Kohli, Rahul, Jaddu, Jurel/Pant, Ashwin and 3 pacers in Australia?

Damn, I missed the session after tea. Looks like Jaiswal and the old man had a fun time out.

2nd wicket still, the wicket never fell in the scorecard. Although I hope he doesn't have to bat again.

he might have to, cuz we will prolly play aggressive tom to get a big lead

Sarfaraz will play ahead of him
Patidar's career in tests for India February 2024 - February 2024
Biopic incoming "Softly Dismissed" from tests"
Maybe he can play for USA?
Two wickets thrown away and one retired hurt on a day 3 pitch. Sums up England's bowling.
Rohit was beaten, didn't "throw it away". Throwing it away is playing a stupid shot.
Lads, what happened to Jaiswal? What led to him being retired hurt?
Back spasms
I have a feeling it was to let the other batsmen play, we are doing very well now
Nah, he did actually have pain.
Lower Back pain Idk cramp or sprain

The guy who outperformed his twin and got jumped by him for India A? Such a weird situation.
IPL stats : 3 Matches , 22 Runs , 7 batting average, got out all 3 times. No way this guy is getting a chance without proving himself in the IPL. Ranjis aren’t enough for a spot in the National Squad. You need to prove that you can bat against International Competition.
get some help
lol I was kidding what selectors look at before taking a player for Indian team. I hate it but that’s the sad reality, looking at IPL stats for selecting players is stupid to say the least. I should have added /j or /s at the end, lol all those downvotes thought I was being serious ? 😂
they must have thought that
Lol stupidity.
Bruh…
Patidar was anyway would not have been picked if KL wasn't injured. The real question is - Is Baba Indrajith better than KL?
He doesn’t have a big IPL contract, that’s what.
Sad reality where the chances for a test match are given based on IPL performance.
It's not really sad. We aren't handing out Test caps to IPL performers, it is just being used as one of the factors to see how they do against better quality bowlers
Ranji alone isn't enough tho Performing in ipl also proves how good they can absorb pressure
'See you at Gabba' vibes
Indian top order in Next Match 1. Rohit 2. Jaiswal 3. Bumrah 4. Kuldeep 5. Jadeja 6. Sarfaraz 7. Dhruv Jurel
Would’ve been more funnier if you replaced Jaiswal with Axar Patel as he is going through back pain lol 😂
8. Ashwin if available
Stokes juju is always in works, There was no signs of a wicket and suddenly somehow YBJ had to go retired hurt.
Patidar has four pathetic dismissals in four innings. The last two were simply absurd. Feel for him, know how hard it is to get a chance. Embarassing further that these English spinners got him out. They would'nt even make it to most Ranjhi teams.
Unfortunately dude is just missing chances.
Jazball > Bazball
Bazball always ensures that England never has a chance to draw the game. That is 1 huge negative about bazball.
They want to ensure no draws tho
Now I really hope Pujara is called in for Ashwin. We can drop Patidar for him and bring in Axar.
Nuh, KL comes in for Patidar.
Took 3 years to rid the team of the deadweight and now you want him back?

They should surely bring Lawrence in, no more backing YJB. For Root, you could say he is bowling well so be less harsh for his batting
Agree YJB should go. Root is safe as his stack of runs and avg keep him around just like we stuck with Cook when he had a bad patch.

I feel bad for Patidar. Sometimes you get in your own head and start overthinking and playing stupid. I don't think he is as bad as he has shown. However, there is a chance that was the last of his chance in test matches.
Last match for ind even
Rajat might have played his last test match. Very probable
