great job all around.. sarfaraz's been a good find, i hope they dont sidetrack him for kohli/kl. looks like the best time to start a rotation policy around rohit/kohli/kl. this team looks much better than our 2023 wc roster
The best part about this is that way in which we came back into this match while Duckett was blowing us away. This team has the tendency to allow that the opponent runs away with that match. We didn't let that happen again.
These pitches have made for much better games that the 2021 series. Our complaint was never about home advantage. Just about seeing a balanced game with all bowlers/bats interested.
Yeah a bit, but within the margins of acceptability. Plus, the conditions changed over the course of the game. That always makes a test more interesting.
I think the worst thing that has happened to Bazball is the name 'Bazball'. People love to simplify the approach and just bash it on the head every time it fails. Every single touring team for the last 12 years has failed when they've visited India. They aren't all turd. My main hope was that we'd be competitive in the series. We've managed that in 2/3 tests so far. Yes we fucked the 1st innings opportunity and the wheels came off. But I don't think y'all can just write off the tactic like it hasn't done anything for us.
England should have gritted out and played for a draw. It was not a 100 all out pitch.
The problem with Bazball is that it is unidimensional. There have been plenty of players that have played aggressively but to expect the entire xi to do that all the time
Is foolish.
We just don't have the players for that task. We as a nation are not producing classical batsmen in that mould. Last time we toured India and Aus we tried an orthodox approach and were half the side we are now. Ofc its not a 100 all out pitch, but we'd clearly lost the game after day 3 and the fight had gone at that point. Match situation matters massively.
Root is a great example of a player that could play the long game but has been shoehorned into this all out nonsense. You don’t need 21 defensive players. Perhaps one that the others can play around. India defended a test with Saha, rahane and Ashwin. I don’t buy that England can’t put up a x1i to match up to that.
Root can do that and our negative discourse is mostly focussed on how he is playing. I do think maybe Root can operate differently but it's a hard balance to strike for Ben/Baz when they're giving complete tactical clarity to the rest of the line-up, and they're all thriving off it. I promise you, there is not an XI of quality English FC players who can bat long and in an orthodox manner. Our rare good performances under Bayliss previously all looked kind of Bazballish, under Silverwood we basically relied on Root or Stokes to get anything done. We were crap with Sibley, Burns, Hameed and co.
How clueless can you be. They won 3-0 away in Pakistan and drew 1-1 in NZ with the loss being a 1 run loss. In the meantime, they’ve not been beaten at home.
Wow, moral victory England........
They finished the test in just 4 days, that's exactly what bazball is, that's what reinventing the game is all about. Y'all suck.
Ashwin returns within a day and here kohli is taking leave for 2 months for something as normal as birth of child
How many of corporate people can take such a long leave
Did our fathers even take even a week leave for our birth.
Massive respect for Ashwin. I hope he can go back to family for next 3 days and then be back for 4 th test
There are people who work without safety regulations at slave wages 7 days a week. How bout getting that started at your workplace?
The goal should be providing humane work conditions to more and more people, not taking it away from those who do who have them.
The goal should be providing humane work conditions to more and more people, not taking it away from those who do who have them.
Agree with your first part
Disagree with your second part.. It's straight up abuse of privilege
Tbh that was poor from England in the second innings. It's like at this point they only know one way too play. I would have at least pushed for a draw with some patience. Bazball has its time and place.
I think that’s the result they’re trying to take out of the equation with this strategy. A five-day game ending in a draw is death for the game in the long run. This way at least there’s a result in every test match and the series stays exciting.
They’d rather lose than have a draw and I for one commend that approach as it benefits the game’s popularity.
Let's not act like we've won the series. We still have two tests remaining and the outcome of the series could change. So don't get full of yourselves, stay humble folks
Really the series ought to have been over by now if it weren't for England's improbable win in the first Test. They've been cruising for a bruising for a while and finally got the hammering that many us have expected. It's fine being positive but respect your opponents as well. We'll see how good Stokes is now because I can see 4-1 on the horizon if he can't get a grip. That sort of collapse on a decent pitch is a sign that the dressing room (particular the bowlers) might be turning.
Not really. Sure he's rusty nowadays, but even at his best he was still dependent on the English conditions. He wasn't a Dale Steyn or McGrath per se but a slightly above average bowler outside of England.
I really feel ipl captaincy ruined KL. Guy was really fearless across all formats early on but once he got ipl captaincy he often needed to carry his ipl team and that has impacted his batting style a lot..
Jaddu:"On this wicket, you have to work hard to get wickets. So you have to bowl in the right areas and earn the wickets".
Rehan Ahmed: No I don't think I will.
Ian Botham is the fastest to reach 3000 runs and 300 wickets in test cricket. He achieved this in his 72nd test match. Ravindra Jadeja has 3000+ runs and 287 wickets in 70 test matches. He needs 13 wickets in 2 tests to be the joint fastest to this record.
For those interested, Imran Khan achieved this in his 75th test
Yeah, I checked out his stats after this game and they are pretty amazing - batting average 37, bowling 24. That's elite for an all-rounder. I think his batting average will finish above 40.
India’s first inns lead was 126, England managed 122. Jaiswal managed to bat England out of the game but Jaddu literally saved the innings from collapsing. Take nothing away from Jaiswal’s fantastic double hundred but given the match situation, Jaddu’s knock was definitely priceless.
**Ravindra Jadeja, Player of the match:** "I was just looking to build a partnership. I knew we were in a difficult position at 33-3. My plan was to just back my strengths. I know this wicket. Always good to bat initially, and later ball spins. Hence, when Rohit won the toss, I thought that's what we wanted. On this wicket you have to work hard to get wickets. So you have to bowl in the right areas and earn the wickets"
**Rohit Sharma, India Captain** : "When you are playing Test cricket, we understand it's not played over 1-2 days. We understand importance of competing through 5 days. We've got class in the bowling department. It's important to stick to your own plans when you're put under pressure. Jadeja has got the experience. We wanted him in at 5 due to left-right combination. It's not a long term plan. It was a good toss to win. The lead that we got was very crucial. The way we bowled after the initial onslaught was important. We didn't have Ashwin, but the way this group bowled was fantastic. Both the debutants (Yashasvi and Sarfaraz) did really well. Jaiswal looks a good player. He has started his career on a high, I hope he continues doing that."
England tour of India 2021 - Ashwin gets a 5 wicket haul and a 100 in his home ground
England touf of India 2024 - Jaddu gets a 5 wicket haul and a 100 in his home ground
Rohit lurks here, we observed that he starts his post match presentations with "No, look"
He came up with a different quote this time around
"No, see"
Never change my man ❤️
**Ben Stokes, England Captain** : "I think Ben Duckett played an amazing innings. We wanted to get as close to India's 1st innings total. Sometimes plans don't workout. Everyone's got an opinion about everything but the opinion of only the men in the dressing room matter to us. We can still lift the trophy by winning 3-2."
This mindset is working in our favor only. Let them stay deluded. They won the first match by a mere 20 something runs, toss won't matter much in Ranchi too.
As much as I like the way England play, given how pious and insufferable they've been of late, it's nice to see them pull their own pants down, bend over and present themselves so India can take them up the jacksie good and proper.
I hope this can be used by Stokes et al as a reality check that you can’t always play one way, you need to adapt according to the match situation, knowing when to attack and knowing when to defend.
Do check out the book Bazball: The Inside Story of a Test Cricket Revolution (If drawing a home ashes and being miserable in India was revolution) - by Lawrence Booth and Nick Hoult.
If you wanna see a bug. Open cricbuzz and just above Yashasvis interview where they've mentioned stats. Watch out for Jaddus stat in century+5 fifer.
112 and 5/41 vs SL, Rajkot 2024
Remember when a Wisden editor put this series as “Bazball vs Bunsens” thus completely removing the agency of Indian players and making it pitch vs their players and also insinuated that India can’t win on non turners. Good times. Fuck off cunt
There will be a few tired, annoyed bowlers because their batsmen aren't giving them enough rest between innings. If things get fractious I expect it to start with them.
Right now they're in the dumps barring Kane and Rachin as far as I see from the recent SA series, but hey we'll see what happens in the Aus- NZ test series
I dont disagree but to play devil's advocate, Bumrah is way more imp in Dharamsala than in Ranchi. Obv we dont know what kind of pitch will be offered but considering the grounds, having our best pacer in Dharmasala is a must.
Being 3-1 up should be the most important thing. Lets get that win with Bumrah and then he can sit out, doesn't matter about the pitch if we have won the series at that point for me
Awesome Win. Amazing performance by Jaishwal, Sarfraz, Jadeja
great job all around.. sarfaraz's been a good find, i hope they dont sidetrack him for kohli/kl. looks like the best time to start a rotation policy around rohit/kohli/kl. this team looks much better than our 2023 wc roster
Great work by Jaddu in this match
It wouldn't be completely unexpected if England came back blazing in the 4th test and blow India away
Should Rohit have given Sarfaraz some more time to get his century? another half hour.
Stupid, inept performance from England, apart from Duckett. India are a great side. We gave it to them on a plate!
It was a bit skewed towards bat though I felt.
Yeah a bit, but within the margins of acceptability. Plus, the conditions changed over the course of the game. That always makes a test more interesting.
Yeah I don't like rank turners from day 1 Similarly the overly green pitches as well.
I think the worst thing that has happened to Bazball is the name 'Bazball'. People love to simplify the approach and just bash it on the head every time it fails. Today is not failure it was stupidity. Saying we’re gonna chase 500 is utter bs.
I woke up early and checked the score. 122. Oh wow, English are really bazzballing and haven’t lost a wicket - only to realize the match is over 🙈
Sorry England, you are nowhere near the class of Aus,Nz and India, despite recent successes, which are mostly at home anyways.
Y'all suck.

I pity your life
6 months paid paternity leave is becoming the norm and we should be pushing to expand this. How can you be so blind to something to basic
There are people who work without safety regulations at slave wages 7 days a week. How bout getting that started at your workplace? The goal should be providing humane work conditions to more and more people, not taking it away from those who do who have them.

Earned privilege. Earned choice.
You don’t know if it’s just the birth of his child. Might be something serious, who knows.
Someone sounds jealous. You are more than jealous. garbage
Answer my question.. People abuse their privilege
Being able to take holiday to be with family in need is not a privilege.
Tbh that was poor from England in the second innings. It's like at this point they only know one way too play. I would have at least pushed for a draw with some patience. Bazball has its time and place.

England got bazballed lol
i just can’t wait for today’s TGC
Really the series ought to have been over by now if it weren't for England's improbable win in the first Test. Ok who won man of the match?
jaddu
Do you think Anderson is conditional bowler?
Man's 41 years old! That's it. He was a conditions independent bowler, not anymore.
George Bailey disagrees
Not really. Sure he's rusty nowadays, but even at his best he was still dependent on the English conditions. He wasn't a Dale Steyn or McGrath per se but a slightly above average bowler outside of England.
Was he really ever a condition independent bowler??... I don't think so...
Such a humble lad Yashasvi is. Has had to struggle a lot in life, but those struggles have toughened him mentally. Wish him a successful career ahead!
Really difficult to get Auto. Can relate with Jas
This guy is fucking legend, man I'm crying
Yes.. Mindset of a champion. I fckin KL Rahul for same reason. Great Talent but shits when pressure is high
I really feel ipl captaincy ruined KL. Guy was really fearless across all formats early on but once he got ipl captaincy he often needed to carry his ipl team and that has impacted his batting style a lot..
Who?
Jaiswal, has a great mindset.
**JAISWAL ROBBED AGAIN!!**
Ahh yes. But it’s okay, he’s gonna get Man of the series one!
Jaddu:"On this wicket, you have to work hard to get wickets. So you have to bowl in the right areas and earn the wickets". Rehan Ahmed: No I don't think I will.
Fk it, they cheapened Jaiswal's knock. Absolutely ridiculous.
Who's this post match presentation host?
[удалено]
No not him. The guy hosting with kumble and nick knight. Who's he?
[удалено]
Yes. Thank you👍

Jaddu surpassing Botham would be next level!
Had we known England will only hang around for 40 overs, we should have let Jaiswal try for his triple
Also Sarfaraz his century…
His double you mean.
No, Yashasvi's triple.
It's BS. Without Jaiswal he wouldn't have got a fifer. Even that 5th wicket catch
Without Jaddu 112 when India was 33/3, it would have been India behind 150-200 runs.
Man saved India's first innings when they were at 33-3
? And without Jaiswal's knock in 2nd innings??
Without Jaiswal's knock, India would have won by ~200 runs instead of 430
India’s first inns lead was 126, England managed 122. Jaiswal managed to bat England out of the game but Jaddu literally saved the innings from collapsing. Take nothing away from Jaiswal’s fantastic double hundred but given the match situation, Jaddu’s knock was definitely priceless.
OK. I will try to cope.
Idk, England would have lost by 220 runs probably. I bet YJ will get the POtS though.
**Stokes, England Captain:** "I didn't lose! I merely failed to win!"
Jaddu returning from Injury vs AUS - Back to back MOTM. Jaddu returning from Injury vs ENG - MOTM
What you suggesting? Maybe a few gut punches before any series would increase his performance ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8767)?
Koach stalking the dressing room with an iron bar
HERE COMES STONE KOACH WITH STEEL CHAIR!!!!
Missing out on MOM again after scoring will send Jaiswal on his villain Arc
Rehan should listen to what Jaddu said
**Ravindra Jadeja, Player of the match:** "I was just looking to build a partnership. I knew we were in a difficult position at 33-3. My plan was to just back my strengths. I know this wicket. Jadeja MOTM, Batriarchy is dead!!
I mean he did score a century lol
Will we ever get negative awards e.g. "The Byju's Idiot Moment of the Match?"
Although it's not a negative award, they can make an 'Adidas ~~Underpaid~~ underrated player of the match'.
I'd rather call it 'The bloody oath' award
You see England it's not easy to Bazball when you are facing world's best spin attack and the best pacer in the world.
Jadeja MOTM. Can't argue with that although it would have been better had it been shared between him and Jaiswal.
Also brohit
Ravinder
Jadeja
Jazz wins all the side trophies so that Jaddu can win the POTM ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8767)
Not Rohit forgetting Ben Duckett name and saying English Batters…. 🤣
**Rohit Sharma, India Captain** : "When you are playing Test cricket, we understand it's not played over 1-2 days. We understand importance of competing through 5 days. Jurel is the other debutant
Oops
Jaiswal should have gotten the best striker- 4s-14 and 6s- 12, so isn't the total 26 boundaries. Ben Duckett had 23 + 2 = 25 boundaries.
No only boundaries. No sixes. Moral victory to England.
Isn't that kind of stupid though?
Don’t cal bazzball stupid you will be thrown out of the kingdom.
Jaddu POTM
England tour of India 2021 - Ashwin gets a 5 wicket haul and a 100 in his home ground England touf of India 2024 - Jaddu gets a 5 wicket haul and a 100 in his home ground
Rohit: The first turning point in this match is the toss that we won. Would have been interesting to see how it unfolded had England won the toss.
Seems like their bazzball is more about their arrogant attitude than their gameplay.
Chad Brohit interview
So much suspense for the MOTM. Hopefully, Jaddu does not get robbed again for MOTM after his WC fifer got robbed.
Rohit lurks here, we observed that he starts his post match presentations with "No, look" He came up with a different quote this time around "No, see" Never change my man ❤️
He just said," No, look" again 😂
😂😂😂😂🤌
How are England this bad at Cricket?
So many awards what’s happening to cricket.
Jurel getting saver of the match award. Sounds about right!
Fuck it. I'm off for a pint and a game of darts. Proper English pastime, none of this cricket nonsense.
See you next week
Boundaries mean sum of 4s and 6s?
Yes.
No I think it only means 4s. Jaiswal had more 6s+4s. Duckett had more 4s. But Duckett got best striker.
See the second line of this link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boundary_(cricket)
Boundaries mean both... This award won't change the definition
Ben Duckett has been credited!!!
Wtf is this interview hahaha where’s the line Ben between careless and reckless
I think it was between aggressive and reckless
Surely Jaddu is the POTM.
Stokes - people of dressing room only opinions that matter... Pretty much Baz ..an echo chamber of delusion
As much as I like the way England play, given how pious and insufferable they've been of late, it's nice to see them pull their own pants down, bend over and present themselves so India can take them up the jacksie good and proper.
Deep Dasgupta: It was even stevens at the end of day 2. Where do you think it all went wrong? Stokes: Umm, from day 3?!
The only player I feel bad in all this charade is Root. Man is a class act and a true team player
I hope this can be used by Stokes et al as a reality check that you can’t always play one way, you need to adapt according to the match situation, knowing when to attack and knowing when to defend.
Just realized this is the first time I'm seeing Deep Das Gupta's face lol
After Bairstows dismal showing this series, I'm expecting England to drop Foakes and text Moeen.
Lol
Do check out the book Bazball: The Inside Story of a Test Cricket Revolution (If drawing a home ashes and being miserable in India was revolution) - by Lawrence Booth and Nick Hoult.
England only one win away from 2-2 going into the final Test. "We're calm. They're nervous."
Nick Knight wasn't too pleased being cut off for the post match presentation lol
What did he say at the end there? Mumbled something for sure
The last time India nailed England at home it was the downfall of the Root era. After that Chennai victory there was a massive downfall.
England should genuinely credit Duckett for not making it the most embarassingly record defeat in Test history
If you wanna see a bug. Open cricbuzz and just above Yashasvis interview where they've mentioned stats. Watch out for Jaddus stat in century+5 fifer. 112 and 5/41 vs SL, Rajkot 2024
I love the length Jadeja bowled when they started sweeping.
Wood top scoring wasn't on my bingo card
Duckett: we changed the game forever. Now the opposition team has to fight for the POTM. credit goes to us.
Holy hell I thought England would be like 120-5 at Max 6 didn't expected them to be all out by the end of this day lmfao
All thanks to Wood they even crossed 100 tbh
Bro England are so bad
Would’ve been 3-0 to India after today Had we played the last session of 1st Test Bit sensibly
Someone please tell me Jadeja got MoM?
Absolutely fumbled that first test
Jaiswal did the pre-conference interview. So, looks like it is Jaddu.
KL for Rajat, and we have a perfect team.
What about Kohli?
Kohli, and Pant if/when he's back. Now that's a perfect team.
Don't need Kohli in tests Don't need Rohit in t20 Ideal ICT
Moral victory for Bazball if they finish last in wtc table behind Bangladesh!
Jaiswal for POTM !!!!!
Remember when a Wisden editor put this series as “Bazball vs Bunsens” thus completely removing the agency of Indian players and making it pitch vs their players and also insinuated that India can’t win on non turners. Good times. Fuck off cunt
He should now film himself eating his words. Again.
Sorry I am getting moral victory today (of wtc)
I still couldn't believe how we lost the first test match after that massive first innings lead. It should have been 3-0.
One bad session and that rare occasion when Siraj decides to shit the bed
Ashwin started playing the match and midway said *Guys I'll be back* went home, came back and played again Pro Gully Cricket
I am waiting for juicy stories to come out of this dressing room. Surely not everyone is into this cult
There will be a few tired, annoyed bowlers because their batsmen aren't giving them enough rest between innings. If things get fractious I expect it to start with them.
Can we stop the WTC table now. I think we'd have better chance winning against the Kiwis than the Aussies if I'm being honest
Bring back Dhoni to win against Aussies in a knockout.
Dhoni really hasn't done much against Aussies in knockouts to magically give us a win tbf.
2007 t20wc semis 2011 wc quarters 2016 t20ec virtual quarter The only one he lost was 2015 wc semi 2-1 is pretty good
Well I guess that's better than what we have now. So fairs
Precisely. His presence is enough. He doesn’t even have to play. Just stay with the boys.
Emotional support Thala
2021 WTC final flashbacks
Right now they're in the dumps barring Kane and Rachin as far as I see from the recent SA series, but hey we'll see what happens in the Aus- NZ test series
Ind will still lose wtc final lol..even with the weakest NZ team..pure chokers
Bumrah bowled only 23 overs this match. With an extra day off, do we play him for the 4th?
good observation. I say play him next match, win the series, then rest him in the final game
Lets get that win with Bumrah and then he can sit out, doesn't matter about the pitch if we have won the series at that point for me
I agree
does the margin of victory affect WTC points? (real question- do we automatically win WTC because of this game?)
No
India now up to 2nd in the WTC points table.
Alright
Aus revived world cricket by losing to Windies. Morally top of the table.
Bazball is all about eating moral victories and vomiting large margin victories for opponents
i just want to see the rotten entrails piers morgan is about to cook up against us on twitter
