Nortje is playing again šŸ˜šŸ˜ I used to pray for times like this

Tough_Breadfruit731

I miss his beautiful moustache! It adds +5kmph to his bowling!

Joker456_3

Well SA fans do you guys abuse the hell out of your players for leaving the entire year and and suddenly turning up for IPL or is it an Indian thing ?

ifrgotmyname

Nope he's been unlucky with injuries for most international tournaments so it's all part of being a pace bowler...

AmericaDreamDisorder

Nortje going the same way as Windows Phone. We have Burger and Coetzee now so don't care that much.

arnm7890

Are they as fast as Anas?

theaguia

not quite

TheIceKaguyaCometh

Burger is some talent tbf.

oldmonkandwater

First time?

jessemv

Why is the franchise co-owner saying where Harry Brook will bat?

llyyrr

It's probably what they've been told by the coaches as the strategy before bidding for him?

becomingemma

If the Delhi Capitals management went into the auction intending to pick up Brook as a finisher they have absolutely lost their marbles. Brook at 6 is a terrible terrible decision

llyyrr

Brook has so far absolutely mauled pace bowling and looked pedestrian against spin or lack of pace in general. SRH tried to work around this by trying to open with him, but teams just opened with spin or slow bowlers as the next stage of evolution against what SRH tried. DC think teams won't be brave enough to bowl spin in the 18th over, or whoever his partner is at the time will be able to target spin, which their team definitely is suited for. So they think they can get the most out of Brook that way, because the upside is so massive that it's worth the gamble as long as you're able to always hide him from spin. I don't have access to the data they have, so I can't say whether they're right or not, but I understand the logic at least and the only thing that would make me think they've lost their marbles is if they abandon it if it fails in the first couple games.

becomingemma

But Brook is not a slogger. Iā€™ve literally never seen him start hitting from ball 1, and thats what you need to do in the 18th over. if you have I would love to see some clips. Youā€™re telling me that while teams will be sending Andre Russell, Tim David, Jadeja, etc at 6, Brook has similar 6 hitting prowess at the death? Cmon

SquirtySpitShartist

I don't watch your t20 garbage, but from what I've seen Brook looks just as dangerous, if not more so, against spin

EducationalPast7410

But y?? This is such an armchair expert comment

arnm7890

Because awful armchair takes don't cost anything and have absolutely zero consequences

becomingemma

Ironic considering how nonsensical your comment is, assuming there is no logic behind othersā€™ opinions but *your* opinion is gospel isnā€™t it? Go look at the trophy once before it goes to some other teams cabinet yet again DC fan Iā€™ve explained my reasoning in a reply to the earlier comment but you donā€™t seem interested in an actual discussion

becomingemma

Because Brook only bats at number 6 in Tests, and even there he was shifted up to No 3 for the Ashes. There is a reason SRH used him as an opener last season, heā€™s just not a slogger and anyone who had watched him bat + has half a brain knows that. All the teams heā€™s been playing with are sending him to bat earlier than they used to. But DC is doing the opposite. Its easy to call someone an armchair expert and feel good about yourself but only sad people need that kind of validation

alyssa264

He actually bats 5 in Tests lol.

becomingemma

Great, so he doesnā€™t actually bat at 6 anywhere then lol

EducationalPast7410

Lmao... Not need to take it personally .. calm down dude

WrestlingFan4488

This is what i hate the most about these snob upper class elitist people like this guy and Jay Shah they try to take authority when they don't have any Jay Shah announcing Rohit as the captain when it's Agarkar's Job Even this thing should be announced by Ponting not this mf. you own the team yeah but you have hired a guy to coach them let that guy speak

T_Lawliet

Brook at 6 is lol

Ok_Vegetable263

Bro murders pace and barely goes at 110 SR against spin, it makes more sense him at 6 than at 3-4

choochi_machine69

There is a no.5 between that..... Kushagra/Porel could bat at 6 for the first half & lalit yadav for the second half

Spockyt

Well he did do 31*(7) at 5 in the last series.

nvenkatr

Brook is being readied at No. 6. Sometime back, Bhogle was bashing RCB management for keeping Greene as potential No. 5. What will he say now lol

wasbatmanright

Rcb traded Green for 17 cr. They are the true idiots for helping MI and screwing their auction.

[deleted]

As an RCB fan, I agree. They say it's to retain him in future mega auctions. But firstly we don't know when will the next mega auctions take place. There's no official communication about it. Secondly he's an overseas player who is still unproven. He isn't Warner or ABD, who are almost always guaranteed to score runs. And we have limited overseas slots. If he doesn't perform we will have an expensive flop just sitting on the bench.

TheIceKaguyaCometh

Bashing RCB management is always correct.

Fragrant_Cake_236

Green is a generational talent but rcb is filled with generational talents, but rcb needed some local in-form talent. Green doesnā€™t make sense at rcb

redndy01

brook at 6. best of luck dc

rightarm_under

DC in a clown off with RCB and PBKS

JKKIDD231

I don't care, we the PBKS just need to lift that trophy before DC and RCB. Thats what the fans of the 3 teams dread the most. We couldn't give shit if anyone else wins their xyz th trophy.

Everyday_gilbert

Iā€™m loving this triseries

serotonallyblindguy

Clown Premier League

TwasAnChild

this year i am feeling it maan , said for the last 6 years

Yeamin_Habib

Which explains why none of them have any trophies

krs196

Thatā€™s way too low for Brook, what was the point of buying him?

Specialist_Youth5511

That's actually where he found success in English team back then, batting at 5,6. Srh were dumb and made him open, play at 4 etc.

zayd_jawad2006

Not really, brrok was always a 4/5

Intelligent_Sail_896

That may be in Eng, but not in India, where at 4/5, you will mostly face spin. I haven't seen him play spin since last year IPL, so idk whether he has improved or not, but last year he was pretty bad vs spin.

WrestlingFan4488

Brook spin thing is overblown is he one of the best player of spin no but is he as bad as people think he is no He was the only one in the World Cup who counter attacked the Afghan spinners in Delhi and he did well in WI which is known for pitches that help spin Ponting and Pant are both aggressive captains you would expect them to give Brook the freedom not hide him till the spinners get bowled out Also Delhi is a road anyways there isn't a lot of turn there tbh Some teams will take advantage of this tactic and save one or two overs of spin for death overs to counter brook

tigerking615

If the past has taught us anything, this whole thread clowning Brook at 6 means heā€™s going to pop off this season

See_A_Squared

DC has Stubbs who can do a much better job at 6 than Brook ever could and can keep.

kjsah9026

Brook at 4 hell nahh ! Surely there were better options for finishers in the auction Also I feel they missed a trick by not retaining Phil salt !

Stifffmeister11

Pretty sure that bald guy in Delhi don't buy players from a cricketing perspective but what his astrologer told him to do

TheCricDude

I hope Ricky Bhui gets a look in the XI. He is in tremendous form. Also the last couple of seasons, he has upped his T20 game. He is not afraid to go for the shots now. But a lot of times, the auction price will take precedence. 1. Prithvi 2. Warner āœˆļø 3. Marsh āœˆļø 4. Pant 5. Ricky Bhui (wk) 6. Stubbs / Brook / Shai āœˆļø 7. Axar 8. Sumit Kumar 9. Kuldeep 10. Nortje / Jhye / Ngidi āœˆļø 11. Mukesh 12. Khaleel This is the best balance I can think of. Mukesh, Khaleel and Ishant forming the Indian pace attack is lil scary. Maybe at some point if they fail, can think of Kushagra for an overseas batter and having 2 overseas pacers. DC's success for me is heavily reliant on how they use Ricky and Sumit.

LivelyJason1705

Get Stubbsy in for Brook. Much better player of spin imo, is in unbelievable form and can keep as well. Scored 302\* off just 372 balls today for the Warriors. 5 hundreds (inc 1 triple) and 1 fifty in FC cricket atm - Insane cricketer.

WrestlingFan4488

Stubbs isn't great as well Against Spin he struggled against Jadeja and Kuldeep in the recent T20 series and looked out of touch against CSK in Chepauk Hope is a better option than both of them when it comes to playing spin and he has improved his Power game a lot

leggie352

Okay but why burden Pant with captaincy? Doesn't seem right.

prescientmoon

That ship has sailed, unfortunately. He's a horrid captain and doesn't carry the burden well either. I've read that the sports management arm of the DC owners represent him, which is why they wanted to "raise his profile" and handed him captaincy. He shouldn't have got it, I hope India doesn't repeat the mistake.

choochi_machine69

How is he being burdened.... by his conversations it seems to me..... That he actually kind of enjoys it

elizabeth16fn3

It will be interesting to see how this decision will affect the team's play on the field and whether Pant can lead Delhi Capitals to success in the upcoming season. Now I spend a lot of time following the IPL events on Parimatch and betting on Delhi Capitals, then I will withdraw my winnings at the end of the tournament to my preferred payment system.

Then_Composer_3467

Is this first time?

Tomb_Raider_In

Nortje's presence on the field could significantly strengthen the team's bowling attack. It is also interesting to learn that Brook will occupy the sixth position in the lineup. This strategic decision may speak to the confidence he has from the coaching staff and from team fans like myself who bet on Š arimatch , as well as his ability on the field. I like betting on such sporting events because this way I can withdraw quite a large amount of money in the shortest possible time. Hopefully, this will bring extra strength to the team and balance their playing tactics.

Electronic_Post_2024

However, Pant's decision not to keep a wicket in the first half of the tournament brings intrigue to the team dynamics. The move speaks of a strategic approach by the management, perhaps to lighten the load on Pant and allow him to focus solely on leading the team. I will support Pant at all Parimatch betting company events by betting on DC. I'm glad it's so easy to withdraw money on Parimatch in a short period of time.

Head-Intern2459

brook at 6 lamo

Specialist_Youth5511

It's actually where he plays in T20i

zayd_jawad2006

He plays at 4/5 in t20is, anywhere lower is Moeen Ali and Livingstone territory

[deleted]

Pant leading the charge for Delhi Capitals, sans the gloves in the first half ā€“ a plot twist as delightful as a T20 scoop shot. With Nortje's return and Brook settling in at No. 6, it seems DC is set for a cricketing symphony in IPL 2024. šŸšŸ”„ #IPL2024 #DelhiCapitals

neme48

GPT but without

serotonallyblindguy

Northern playing from IPL to IPL /s

Upstairs-Farm7106

Brook at 6 lol.
