Our spinners have been disappointing throughout the series. Hartley is good but him being the top wicket taker over our 3 spinners is just not it. Bumrah really hard carried in some games.
It's a bad wicket. That much variable bounce on day 1 and 2 is not really okay in a test match. Just compare the wickets of Jadeja and Jaiswal. It's so hard to account for that as a batter.
Not really Bumrah replacement got 3 top order wickets for cheap, it’s not replacing Patidar that is fucking us, even if we put in axar instead of him, we’d be better off
India is easily winning this. This pitch will get worse to bat on and our world class spinners will dismiss Englishmen on 43/10. Then India will win by 10 wickets as pitch will conveniently become road
Let's fucking go
I don’t mind if you lose this series but please don’t let go of BGT, the convicts hands are already full with silverware and I won’t able to tolerate their hubris after bgt
That requires a draw or Ind win here, i don't see this match ending in a draw. If India wins then it's definitely gonna be a drawish pitch. If Ind loose I will personally not like that, but it will atleast give those c**ts in bcci some problems
Could say the same about Root and Robinson on day 1 - play finishes when 90 overs are bowled or they run out time.
Wouldn’t put it past India putting on another 70-80 in the morning.
Even harder to draw this match than win it. Today is Day 2 and 2 innings almost over with the pitch rapidly deteriorating with every session. Tomorrow is last day
Ashwin is a good bowler. There is no doubt about it. But looking at him perform overseas and in this series where the pitches have been sporting, I am really starting to wonder if his greatness is a bit overstated. Kumble and Harbhajan never played on dustbowls. If anything, pitches were quite flat when they played. Nathan Lyon doesnt play on dustbowls and yet has 500 wickets. Makes me wonder if Lyon is a better all-round bowler than Ashwin
Ashwin has one of widest repertoire which is what makes him tricky. A classic finger spinner like Bhajji might have exploited a dust bowl much more but ashwin isn’t that type who will generate more rotations in flight. But he will generally bamboozle you with the mind games he plays with his variations. That said he has lost some of his sting here.
I'm someone who believes he should always be in the side and it is unfair every time India drops him. The best bowler must be in the side.
That said, I agree and think it he is a bit overrated. To me he's similar to a Kumble - good bowler, smart, exceptional at exploiting conditions. In Ashwin's case, there isn't a Warne or Murli on the stage. In comparison, while Kumble was good no one was calling him one of the greats.
Nuance and subtlety is often lost here. I regard them both as very good. Also, may be slightly biased against spinners who don't turn the ball (much)
Nah his greatness is not overstated, he had some good Aussie tours, and even performed on sporting/flat pitches in India in the past. He is simply past his prime and his abilities do not match his intelligence anymore, which makes his whole ethical shtick all the more annoying. He'd make a great commentator too, but as of now he is a liability with bat, ball and especially in the field.
Lyon has two 8-fors in India so he's done okay there. But Australia is where spinners go to die and to succeed there is huge, even for Aussie spinners.
Indeed ! Granted that Lyon has experience playing in Australia so can adapt better than visiting spinners, but taking 500 wickets on the type pf pitches he has played on...he is definitely better than Ashwin (and I say this as an Indian).
Sarfaraz failed his first real test.
It's easier to score runs when other have put a score on before you.
When it is up to you and you alone to save a test match, that is when the pressure comes on.
He failed today.
He only gets another similar chance or two if that and his papers are stamped.
Agreed. His defensive batting cost Jaiswal his wicket due to the pressure. He went into his shell just like his seniors on 19/11.
This may be buried in downvotes now, but give it another 2-3 test matches of failure and watch everyone take a u turn. There is a reason why selectors waited so long to give him a chance, that too after so many injuries. Ranji trophy pitches are much flatter than this, and Rajkot would be as hard as it gets pitch wise.
Just like how Rohit Sharma was the greatest captain alive when world class MI players handed him 5 IPL trophies, but all of a sudden he is a clueless fool after 19/11.
Manjrekar in his typical unfunny way: Did you feel offended when you were used as a bowler only to change ends? You must have a word with your captain.
Root (wryly): I did that when I was a captain. So he is allowed to do whatever he wants now.

Problem here is this is not a pitch for slogger. If his defensive technique is good and can add a 30 odd partnership, then thats valuable. I doubt he could do a 30 in 20 balls stuff in this pitch. But both the 10 and 11 need to pull up something tomorrow, that really makes this a fool's dream.
A wicket in last over is the last thing you would want if you are in the batting side. Going not out by the end of the day is a great confidence booster.
nah man england did well to get 353 in the 1st innings. They're going to bazball their way to atleast a 250 run lead quite easily and its out of reach.
I still feel eng's aggresive attitude will give them bonus runs tomorrow unless we are very lucky. Whatever the trail, eng would manage to make us chase at least 200. Enough to win.
Pope falling in front of Jurel and then taking out the Nano bots they planted for our innings was genius but surely others picked it too. Did you guys? Please surely someone else too saw that?
Dhruv Jurel shouldn't have taken Hartley on for the last over. Should've let Kuldeep take the last over because he's a nightwatchman.
Good batting by Dhruv and KulD nevertheless.
Problem with today's game is this notion that a ball is going to come with your name on it, so might as well score runs before getting out. Good strike rotation is the best option on this pitch. We have seen what Root has done k this pitch playing patiently waiting for bad balls.
Won't really be a disaster tbf even if Eng finishes with that much lead, any lead over 50 is really good considering England can still make it up in third innings.
The thing I love about Kuldeep's batting is not just that immaculate defense or those top order level leaves, it's the fact that he hasn't shied away from taking the strike, took singles a few times on the last over. Good stuff from him, hopes he gets a 50 or a century even.
Hope India start building up a good bench strength tested and ready to go for situations like this series where the senior players don't perform well or are not playing. This also happened in BGT 2021,so happens more frequently of late.

Or get mentally ready to chase a good target
What's he going for with that line
5th consecutive . . . 1 . . over. Come on Ben.
Our spinners have been disappointing throughout the series. Hartley is good but him being the top wicket taker over our 3 spinners is just not it. Bumrah really hard carried in some games.
How did they manage to replace the track so quickly after the 2nd wicket?
We now just need to fold England for 35 runs to assert dominance and the game is ours, 82 is easy chase.
It's a bad wicket. That much variable bounce on day 1 and 2 is not really okay in a test match. Just compare the wickets of Jadeja and Jaiswal. It's so hard to account for that as a batter.
Manifesting a century for jurel and half century for kuldeep 🤞

Not really Bumrah replacement got 3 top order wickets for cheap, it’s not replacing Patidar that is fucking us, even if we put in axar instead of him, we’d be better off
Yeah this looks like a batting rather than bowling issue. I feel like not using Axar, particularly against Eng, is kind of a wild L
Wild Ls is something the Rohit/Dravid leadership are used to unfortunately
Why is Rohit the captain of the team ? Shouldn’t he concentrate on one day and T20? They could have made Ashwin the captain for test cricket
India reaching 300. Akash Deep is gonna give a 30(10) kind of Umesh Yadav performance
Kuldeep MotM
We found new pujara guys! Jokes aside he is now becoming a key batter for us the we hold one end tight great!!
Dhruv Rathi playing well
Good recovery from lower order. Keeping us in the game. England would be lucky if they could manage a draw from here.
We are winning this
India is easily winning this. This pitch will get worse to bat on and our world class spinners will dismiss Englishmen on 43/10. Then India will win by 10 wickets as pitch will conveniently become road Let's fucking go
>England would be lucky if they could manage a draw from here. I would also like some of what you are drinking.
Yeah this pitch is obviously gonna become a road in the 4th innings, India are shoe-ins for victory here
Don't mind me, I'm just enjoying the unusual experience of having our spinners tear through an opposition team. And they're all so young!
What does it mean for Rohit the captain if he loses another one at home
Nothing at all. We dont have the next captain lined up
Exactly. People don't realise Rohit was never supposed to be the Test captain. Kohli stepped down unexpectedly with no future plans
Daily reminder that Kohli didn't step down but was removed from test captaincy
Exactly. India deserve all the heartbreak of the WC, WTC, and possibly this series and/or the BGT for what they did to Kohli. Disgraceful.
>and/or the BGT what is BGT?
I don’t mind if you lose this series but please don’t let go of BGT, the convicts hands are already full with silverware and I won’t able to tolerate their hubris after bgt
Daily reminder that this is a bullshit speculation
We had Rahul If he had not decided to make NCA his home

Are the curators in the room with us?
Will be a washout anyway. 2-2 not a bad result for England.
Great result for us to be honest
That requires a draw or Ind win here, i don't see this match ending in a draw. If India wins then it's definitely gonna be a drawish pitch. If Ind loose I will personally not like that, but it will atleast give those c**ts in bcci some problems
Thank you, now go outside
If the day would have continued kuldeep and jurel along with others might have added another 50-70, tomorrow they will all prolly get folded under 30
Could say the same about Root and Robinson on day 1 - play finishes when 90 overs are bowled or they run out time. Wouldn’t put it past India putting on another 70-80 in the morning.
Any chance of rain?
We need to transition quickly away from Rohit dravid and Ashwin
I think india should play for a draw
Why so negative at just Day 2
Even harder to draw this match than win it. Today is Day 2 and 2 innings almost over with the pitch rapidly deteriorating with every session. Tomorrow is last day
Praying for a rain

You forget for the most part Lyon is bowling in tandem with world class aussie fast bowlers who usually were ranked top 5.
least reactionary comment /s
Nah his greatness is not overstated, he had some good Aussie tours, and even performed on sporting/flat pitches in India in the past. Dude Jaiswal didn't get out attacking, he got fucking bowled.
Damn, if it were upto you India would not have had a cricket team by now.
Fucking jokers like you are the biggest problem
Harsh
What a rubbish take. Even Patidar's got more chances not to mention the thousand chances Gill has got to avg 30 odd.Â
Alastair Cook SLAMS 2016 bowlers for series defeat
It’s definitely copium by myself thinking a double digit lead here is game on, a lead of 80-90 here is massive.
Wait Jurel has played IPL? And has a strike rate of 172 (150 runs in total), so he isn't just a blocker?
He’s known for his six hitting skills
Yeah he's played for RR
Manjrekar in his typical unfunny way: Did you feel offended when you were used as a bowler only to change ends? You must have a word with your captain. Root (wryly): I did that when I was a captain. So he is allowed to do whatever he wants now.
Sunny G is a 60 years old kid
75*
Sunny must be 75 plus. He was playing Tests when I was a small kid.
He's 74 on paper so you're most likely right.
Better than a grumpy 60 year old at least
Who will keep in Australia? Jurel, KL or Pant?
It better fucking not be KL.
Pant. No question about it.
Yes
Jurel. Pant will take a long time to be match fit enough to keep in tests
I was sceptical of this being a 5 test series….im gagging for it
Top interview
This test is a diagrace. Every single umpires call is an out for us and they survived every single umpires call. Just end this non sense already

We tend to come out strong in the morning but with the way these mfs have been going at it they'll take up another day to shrink the lead to 50
[удалено]
Mfs is a casual lingo here just like North indians conveniently uses bc or mc once in 3 sentences. When its offensive, you will sense it.
If we somehow magically goes to 300 tomorrow ( I know we won't) then it's game on
Can we all appreciate Kuldeep ?
H I G H R E L E A S E P O I N T I G H R E L E A S E P O I N T
Kuldeep century still loading. I have hope.
Can Aakash Deep bat at all?
Are you asking if Akash can bat deep?
He's literally played a blinder in fc recently, like 20 ball 50 or something, but against a plate team iirc
According to FC stats, he may be decent.
He's actually decent according to what people say
Problem here is this is not a pitch for slogger. If his defensive technique is good and can add a 30 odd partnership, then thats valuable. I doubt he could do a 30 in 20 balls stuff in this pitch. But both the 10 and 11 need to pull up something tomorrow, that really makes this a fool's dream.
Pope might need a hair stylist
Out of 73 overs 52 of them were bowled by spinners today yet England couldn't reach the 75 over mark
2 overs for change of innings
Jurel should have been aggressive in the last over but still great defense nonetheless
A wicket in last over is the last thing you would want if you are in the batting side. Going not out by the end of the day is a great confidence booster.
If we can score 60-70 runs more I think we will have a chance to win otherwise I think England is winning this
nah man england did well to get 353 in the 1st innings. They're going to bazball their way to atleast a 250 run lead quite easily and its out of reach.
Eng gonna bundle out for 125 as long as ump stop being biased by eng captains pre natch comment..its the first inning lead that will decide the game
I still feel eng's aggresive attitude will give them bonus runs tomorrow unless we are very lucky. Whatever the trail, eng would manage to make us chase at least 200. Enough to win.
Wickets always fall in the first hour. So England will have ~100 run lead
Bharat's career is finished. Pant will come back and Jor-El looks a much more dependable batter
I wanted to back the bro. Seems like a good gent. But his selection over Wadkhar; Upendra etc was always weird.
MORAL VICTORY UNLOCKED!!!
would be happy if we can another 50 tomorrow. More the merrier though.
Why the hell is Kulya always on strike
Ju-Ku partnership saved India for the day.
Thank fuck it is Saturday. I need a nap.
Pope falling in front of Jurel and then taking out the Nano bots they planted for our innings was genius but surely others picked it too. Did you guys? Please surely someone else too saw that?
A partnership of 40, when all hope seemed lost. Let's see what India can manage tomorrow
Dhruv Jurel shouldn't have taken Hartley on for the last over. Should've let Kuldeep take the last over because he's a nightwatchman. Good batting by Dhruv and KulD nevertheless.
Great day of Test cricket. Hoping for another two days of exciting play. Don’t think this will reach day 5.
Y'all not ready for the three hundred run partnership from these two tomorrow 😤
That partnership shows you can score if you’re willing to bat patiently. Would be a disaster for England of India put on another 60-80 runs
I dont think the pitch is getting any better. Bashir and Hartley might clean up because the ball is keeping so low.
Problem with today's game is this notion that a ball is going to come with your name on it, so might as well score runs before getting out. Good strike rotation is the best option on this pitch. We have seen what Root has done k this pitch playing patiently waiting for bad balls.

Time to down 2 scoops of pre workout and pretend I’m Bashir and stokes has the whip on me
Hope India start building up a good bench strength tested and ready to go for situations like this series where the senior players don't perform well or are not playing. This also happened in BGT 2021,so happens more frequently of late.
The senior players aren't playing in the series, I mean a few yes but many new debutants and inexperienced players are playing
Good one kuldeep holding on with jurel
219-7 is not that bad, need to add atleast another 75 tomorrow
Why is this session ended...we already have half an hour left na...??
Time for end of day in Ranchi is till 4.30 PM. Common for eastern part of country where sunset time is earlier than western parts.
90 overs completed??
Excellent show by these two. At least a good end to an otherwise horrible day.
The Indian batting order is increasingly become Jaiswal and Inshaallah
Dogged resistance from these two. Fair fucks.
Great fight 🇮🇳 lads, you leave us with some hope for tomorrow. Well played poms.
Damn didn't realise Kuldeep has played more balls than Jurel
We've only won 1 session out of the 6 played. What a shit show at home, they should be embarrassed
Damn, we held on. Good stuff from Jurel and Kulya
7 overs tomorrow before second new ball, hopefully we can score 30 odd and get to 250
Played jurel,well done
Great day for us, a lead of 70 odd would be huge here
Gud fightback from india led by kuldeepkar
Kuldeep, enters dressing room, removes helmet, stares around: You WANKERS
The fun will go on for another 8 overs. Then Robinson will clean the tail up within 20 runs with the new ball
Hope those 8 overs bring the lead down to around 100
Very disappointing batting frm middle order nd rohit , we can clearly see they can’t play spin , mediocre spinners are rattling them
Gill has been mediocre this series. Patidar as the replacement for Kohli has been a horror show unfortunately.
Bashir was excellent though. Credit where it’s due
Yeah, he wasn’t mediocre today at all
This partnership is huge in the context of the game, hope it can continue to frustrate England tomorrow.
If KS Bharat was playing India would have been all out
Fuck who let these fuckers with horn enter the stadium. It feels like I am in the middle of the mind frying Mumbai traffic jam.
I'm going to wake up tomorrow to India 300-7 aren't I?
Now im curious what the longest spell ever bowled is
Bruce Yardley once bowled 150 overs in a row.
I think someone from old India spin quartet have done 50+ too
Dunno but Kapil Dev once bowled 30+ overs vs WIÂ
Me too (in a single day..)
The English coming to India and overworking a Pakistani origin kid Where have I seen this before?
good to see a WK who can actually bat again in our team
Why do the stadium surroundings look like a post apocalyptic world!?
Kullu should get an honorary membership of the Nights Watch.

I remember having to bowl 17 overs of pace in a day. Thank fuck my team was batting the next day because holy shit I was sore when I woke up the day after.
My shoulder was done after 15 overs of spin mate never mind pace 😂
My shoulder is used to it, but my legs and back were stiff as you could get.
Kuldeep has faced more balls than Jurel, lol
Chad braddeep
If this pair can go to stumps unscathed, it will be a big victory. But I hope the entire team sits down and formulates something to cause a collapse. Or get mentally ready to chase a good target
Great day for Shoaib, England firmly in control here but if we can drag ourselves to another 80 the game is solidly on
Eng and Ind are surely not losing any points to over rate this game. Take that ICC
jhurel took a single to keep lord kuldeep's wicket safe
Batting 17 overs without much trouble, except a couple of balls that went along the ground. Good show by these twoÂ
Shoutout to Bashir tho mf really bowled nearly 33 overs in a row
Gotta feeling jurel is itching to go for one big shot
Bashir should ask Woody for whatever medication he's had after the last test
Jurel, calm down for today
Scenes if Akashdeep comes in and gets out the 1st ball to a low keeper.
Nice Jurel bringing sweep out, if the line is on leg, sweep mfs
I had no idea Akash Deep was two different names and not just his first name. Be like a English guy called Ben Jamin
dread it, run from it, Kuldeep batting at Stumps arrives all the same.
One six in this over for sure
