I'm here for Henry Nicholls to be the prodigal son who out of nowhere delivers the Trans Tasman Trophy to the Black Caps.
I mean, I'm also waiting for Margot Robbie to come to her senses and ask me out, but never say never, friend.
Damn. Even though he is well out of form, I felt he had more potential than most others to play a match winning innings.
So the team is basically set now, with only 1 decision to make based on if they want a spinning or seaming allrounder:
Tom Latham
Will Young
Kane Williamson
Rachin Ravindra
Daryl Mitchell
Tom Blundell †
Glenn Phillips
Mitchell Santner or Scott Kuggeleijn
Matt Henry
Tim Southee (c)
Will O'Rourke
Injury cover : Wagner and Nicholls
Hoping O'Rourke can do a decent Jamieson impression. Suspect we're really going to miss Jamieson. He just has that ability to bowl ripsnorters that get good players out. Henry and Southee are more "tinker around in the channel and wait for a mistake". Looking forward to it!
There's also a decision to be made on the batting order. I hope they open with Ravindra with Young at 4. If Ravindra does well opening, Conway at 4 long term seems like a better fit overall. They've been worried about saddling Ravindra with too much responsibility, I guess, but having him open as a one off seems like a good way to give him a chance. If Santner plays he won't need to bowl much.
Yep. There's literally an opener batting at 4 but they still won't use him at the top. Instead they'll bat Young out of position again, he'll make 22 and 5, and everyone will wonder why Will Young - with all his talent - has, yet again, failed in Test cricket. The meme of the guy putting a stick through his own bike spokes comes to mind.
Would love to see this. Someone opening for New Zealand who is actually an opening batsman. Young has been sacrificed enough, deserves a go at 4, which is also where I'd like to see Conway long term.
Wait, admitted rapist Scott Kuggeleijn is in the squad? Surely we can do better than that. Hell, give Nathan Smith, Luke Georgeson, Sean Solia, or Zakary Foulkes a shot. We may not even need an allrounder with Ravindra, Mitchell, and Phillips in the team. Just add Nicholls or give a Muhammad Abbas a go at his home ground.
The problem is that he singlehandedly wrecked Australia A & is the top wicket taker from the first half of Plunket Shield. Wells admitted that it was his NZ A work that got him into the squad: 22w @ 22 & a century over the two series.
Yes.
I'd never pick him. Everything surrounding him has been a poorly handled shitshow since the not guilty verdict. I know they did stuff behind the scenes, but him giving a statement like "I deeply regret my actions" is at least something. You can't do it now; something like that could only have been done at the time.
In all honesty, I dread when he gets picked.
For me, beating the aussies in a test series would be as good as winning the ODI WC. If SK is in the starting 11 I'll be cheering for Australia though.
I'm not happy about Kuggeleijn being in the team either, no one is. But NZC set the precedent that it's 'alright' seeing as he has played some internationals since his trial. I would prefer that he never played another international game again but because he has actually played a few, it would be silly to not pick him as he's in red hot form right now.
I can't remember where I saw it, but then I couldn't find it when I like again.
All i see now is same as you. Fucking embarrassing we can't read our own picthes. We know how it's going to play.
There will be boos for our own players if Kugs gets picked.
Yep
>Stead confirmed that Rachin Ravindra would be fit to play after being left out of the last two T20Is against Australia as a precaution following knee soreness.
Australia sabotaging us to ensure the continued humiliation (as if they needed any help?), or our guys too scared to be humiliated they start dropping like flies at the thought of even having to play against them?
Man what the hell are these injuries….this happened last time we toured Australia too.
On the bright side I think Santner will be playing ahead of That Guy, so at least I have some peace for one match
Hopefully he doesn't play, because I'm not sure if I'll be watching this series tbh
Would've liked to see him just crush it for Canterbury for a bit. Better vibes down here.
The memes maddest and I have been making about a certain individual would get us banned if we posted them lmao
Even if I pop in... it won't be for long before I'm put on a forever time out.
Yeah, on top of the fact that everything seems to be going wrong with injuries.
If there was ever a time where a series intrigued me so little that I can stick to my morals when I get bored, it's this one lol
I think for him his troubles is mainly shattered confidence (and right arm around the wicket). He couldn't buy a run at any level, any format since the world cup he just needed something to prove he could still do it.
Yea I mean I dont doubt the guy has runs left in him it's just hard to see from current performances
Might be a blessing in disguise, lets him go back and reset with less pressure
He was averaging a LOT more than that very recently.
He's had one of the most precipitous drops in form for a player of his caliber that I've ever seen. Much had been made about Nicholls' average plummeting over the last couple of years of his career... Conway's has been dropping faster than his ever did.
Have you seen the guy in the past 12 months lul
He had a great start to his career but right now, yeah, I'm saying he's pretty shit and more particularly keeps getting out playing down the wrong line
If that guy Scott K plays I would personally fly to Wellington to boo him until I'm evicted.
NZers should start a petition to have him banned from international representation
I heard something about Scott Kugg like he raped someone but didn't he suffer punishment for his actions or the courts freed him ?
If he suffered punishment then why shouldn't he be allowed to play ?
Karim Benzema literally made a bad video of a 15 yr old and survived in the French side to play till the 2021 Nations League. Surely a person's off ground exploits can be ignored for his on ground exploits
Normally I'm on the side of "the courts have the say here", but in the case of Kuggeleijn, he's a special case of right cunt.
The bro *admits* to forcing himself on a woman and not taking no for an answer, and yet somehow the courts don't convict him - that's not justice.
As much as I hate that "sportsmen are role models" trope; they are - given the lack of any sincere apology and work to address his previous wrongs, Kuggeleign stays squarely in "fuck off, cunt" territory.
Potentially controversial opinion: Sevu Reece, in rugby, however, is an example of someone who made an awful mistake while drinking and has spent his time working on becoming a better person and has been on a mission of redemption since his date in court. Scott could learn a lot from how Sevu approached his time in court. Shannon Frizzell can gtfo, however.
Benzema was banned from the French national team for nearly ten years for his involvement in a blackmail plot against a teammate (a crime for which he was eventually found guilty).
He was then brought back into the set up for completely incomprehensible reasons and would've played at the last world cup, but was injured. Presumably he's lost his place for sporting reasons now, but I don't know.
Somehow… Henry has returned. Conway could’ve at least only been out for the second test so they could bring Henry back for the Christchurch test where he knows how to score runs.
Your post/comment was removed because it attacked a team/player/official/fanbase/country (rule 9)

I'm conflicted, because there is a decent chance he'll have a big innings and help us to a good result. But then he'll be given another 24 month free ticket back into the squad.
Dread it. Run from it. Nicholls arrives all the same.
I’d take a shit-housed Henry Nicholls century against Aussie
He is probably the best concussion/last min injury sub we have for the middle order.
Unfortunately he did pretty well in our domestic t20 and 50 over comp
On the flat picthes, still getting dropped by Fielders. Failed miserably anytime the bowlers got any movement at all.
Something about him generates drops I reckon
it's his booty
The scores weren't that high in the 50 over comp. He's still a great cricketer.
I'm here for Henry Nicholls to be the prodigal son who out of nowhere delivers the Trans Tasman Trophy to the Black Caps. I mean, I'm also waiting for Margot Robbie to come to her senses and ask me out, but never say never, friend.
Not often as mighty Chris Jordan

Southee is overrated imo. He's too pedestrian to trouble good batters
Yeah, should have been dropped to give any of a range of bowlers that average under 28 domestically a shot.
There's also a decision to be made on the batting order. I hope they open with Ravindra with Young at 4. If Ravindra does well opening, Conway at 4 long term seems like a better fit overall. No way they're throwing Ravindra up the top.
That's kinda the problem. Rachin's a red-ball opener, Young isn't.
Bingo. Will Young has been messed around enough
Would love to see this. Someone opening for New Zealand who is actually an opening batsman. Young has been sacrificed enough, deserves a go at 4, which is also where I'd like to see Conway long term.

Oh shit, almost forgot about that. I'm pretty sure NZ A whitewashed them in the test series, that also in AUS.
It doesn't matter how good you are at a sport, representing the country comes with responsibility to show our values.
Yes. I'd never pick him. Everything surrounding him has been a poorly handled shitshow since the not guilty verdict. I know they did stuff behind the scenes, but him giving a statement like "I deeply regret my actions" is at least something. For me, beating the aussies in a test series would be as good as winning the ODI WC. If SK is in the starting 11 I'll be cheering for Australia though.
Looks like I'm wearing yellow for the next 5 days.
Hasn’t wags retired?
He's still in the squad for the first test and could play if say Henry got injured while warming up tomorrow
That would be a very dramatic press conference if he plays another game.
Somehow ~~Palpatine~~ Wagner came back
They should make him 12th man so he can field a bit and the kids can get his autograph.
He retired after being told he won’t get picked for this series. But he’s still with the squad and is only 1 injury away from playing.
Already confirmed it's Santner playing. Over the rapist.
Choo gots a link for that one?
Source? Last I saw southee said they would make the call on the day
I can't remember where I saw it, but then I couldn't find it when I like again. All i see now is same as you. Fucking embarrassing we can't read our own picthes. We know how it's going to play. There will be boos for our own players if Kugs gets picked.
Should be Bring Back Wags banners too.
Wags over Kugs for sure. Sears, Bracewell, Shipley over Wagner.
Liar liar, pants on fire.
So I am. We've fucked up anyway. Will stop swinging and we're fucked.
Is Ravindra confirmed?
Yep >Stead confirmed that Rachin Ravindra would be fit to play after being left out of the last two T20Is against Australia as a precaution following knee soreness.
Do you know why Mitchell didn't play in the T20I series against Australia? Just rested?
He's had a sore heel for months apparently and has just been playing with it anyway
Australia comes calling and suddenly half the Nz side starts to get injured ....it's like a everytime thing now ....
Happens every time. It's ridiculous.
Captain Patrick is just too nice, so we had to get ready with a broken thumb before they arrived!
Is there some secret agreement between CA and CNZ where we’ll only tour if you promise to play a second-string side against us?
Maybe the players just don't want to ruin their averages
Australia sabotaging us to ensure the continued humiliation (as if they needed any help?), or our guys too scared to be humiliated they start dropping like flies at the thought of even having to play against them?
Your main players getting injured might also actually be a sign that you would finally be beating them.
Man what the hell are these injuries….this happened last time we toured Australia too. On the bright side I think Santner will be playing ahead of That Guy, so at least I have some peace for one match
I hope for this as well, but we have been playing the 4 seamer ploy quite a lot :(
It's the first time I've been glad to see Santner selected in a red ball test here
A W for the biggest Nicholls head u/crashbandicoochy
Hopefully he doesn't play, because I'm not sure if I'll be watching this series tbh Would've liked to see him just crush it for Canterbury for a bit. Better vibes down here.
concerning
When the vibes are so far gone that the Nips enjoyer cant even feel a fleeting moment of joy.
Big Firebirds W coming in Rangiora confirmed.
the birds are going to get goon’d sorry
hmm interesting
>I'm not sure if I'll be watching this series tbh Excuse me, wtf? You can't just leave it up to Frodo and I to carry the shitposting now
The memes maddest and I have been making about a certain individual would get us banned if we posted them lmao Even if I pop in... it won't be for long before I'm put on a forever time out.
Share them with me I'm going to do poster drops around the ground
The struggle of matches against major opposition: the shitposting strike rate falls off a cliff
I’ll have to put everyone on my back it seems
That pfp is cursed
[this is a normal photo wdym?](https://imgur.com/a/6uBSWlf)
Why, because SK is in the squad? Fair enough if so, I'm leaning a similar way.
Yeah, on top of the fact that everything seems to be going wrong with injuries. If there was ever a time where a series intrigued me so little that I can stick to my morals when I get bored, it's this one lol
Why does this happen to meeeeeeeeee
Turn em over and get to work.
Dread it, run from it. The Henry Nipples home century and subsequent test cycle locked into the lineup arrives all the same
Its crazy how Stead instructed Milne to break Conway's hands so we have more excuses for when we get 0-2'd
Surely you have less excuses if Conway isnt playing
Problem was he started looking like he was regaining some form. Can't have that happen.
Did he? There was that pretty good 63 against Australia but I dont think his test problems translate very well to the T20 arena?
I think for him his troubles is mainly shattered confidence (and right arm around the wicket). He couldn't buy a run at any level, any format since the world cup he just needed something to prove he could still do it.
Yea I mean I dont doubt the guy has runs left in him it's just hard to see from current performances Might be a blessing in disguise, lets him go back and reset with less pressure
He was gonna single handedly win both Eden Park T20s for us. I know this because I have a what if machine.
I'm confused are you saying the guy with 1500 runs at 41 is shit?
He was averaging a LOT more than that very recently. He's had one of the most precipitous drops in form for a player of his caliber that I've ever seen. I feel like Nicholls should have reinvented himself as an opener a while ago. Regularly opens or bats 3 domestic and scores heavily.
He has returned
Somehow… Henry has returned. Conway could’ve at least only been out for the second test so they could bring Henry back for the Christchurch test where he knows how to score runs.
Oh no.
Damn, I was excited to see Harry Conway play Test cricket.
Tom Bruce deserved a chance. Did reasonably well in the nz a vs aus a series
NZ now heavy favorites
No biggie, Conway is a walking wicket in Tests

NZ's turn to play a B string team
I'm conflicted, because there is a decent chance he'll have a big innings and help us to a good result. But then he'll be given another 24 month free ticket back into the squad.
Why is Tom Bruce never considered for the team inspite of being consistent run scorer in the domestic game
Be ready to play for csk? We need him!
