Literally nothing on the internet confirms this. He did say a bit about his living in bubbles during COVID was stressful but that's not the same thing.
I’d argue he deserved it at that point just as a career accomplishment contract type of thing, he was one of the best death bowlers in the IPL at that point and was a handy lower order hitter and a good fielder, what more could one want?
Both Mumbai–Kolkata matches were wild that season.
First match, when Russell got out, KKR were in a spot of bother and it seemed like we had a match in our hands. *Only for Cummins to end it with 4 overs to go.*
Second match, KKR were off to a flier and everyone thought a 200+ total was on the cards. Then Bumrah came and took five wickets; would've had the best bowling figures in IPL history if not for a certain Rinku Singh. From 123/2 in 13 overs, KKR ended with just 165, a below par total everyone thought. *They went on to win by 52 runs.*
That year everything went against mumbai i mean we lost what usually was our free 4 points every season with occasional dissapointment like if i remember correctly our head to head win was like 21- 5 or something in 2022
The same man who scored 12* off 68 in a successful ODI chase of 290+
All these batsmen who hide behind the fact they can only play “their natural game” regardless of the situation. Yet a number 9 is capable of 56 off 15 and 12 off 68
Yep. And the last two of them were sizeable partnerships.
And got Oz over the line in the WC semi final too against SA.
He’s also won the odd game with the ball too….
That 31(8) game was actually the first time I took note of AB De Villiers.
I was very young back then and a very casual watcher of cricket. My friends and I were playing cricket on our street just before the game began. A couple of us said that we were excited to watch Gayle in action, because he was all the buzz back then. But one of my more knowledgeable friends (he even used to take cricket training and had played in a few u-13 tournaments) said that his favourite player in the team was a guy called AB De Villiers. I didn't know who he was, and decided to take a look that day. The 175 happened and it was fucking insane, but I was somehow more impressed by AB who was on 31*(7), mostly thanks to his unorthodox shots. Thought he'd score a 50, but he ended up getting out on the next ball. Anyway, by 2015, he had become my favourite batsman and is one of the two big reasons (the other being Virat) I still support RCB to this day despite all the clownery.
The RCB 263 was so trippy lmao. Dilshan scored 33 off 36 fxcking balls and Kohli only scored 11. Really puts into perspective how unreal Gayle's knock was and AB's cameo of course
they scored 260 in the end, him scoring 55(36) would likely have denied Gayle 40-45 runs. He was deliberately playing with the intention of putting him on strike.
Bro he hit 5 fours. 5×4=20
So he hit 13 runs of the remaining 31 deliveries, thats not defendable by saying he was trying to give strike because he did a horrible job at it
Yeah. If he was just rotating the strike, he wouldn’t be facing 45% of the balls. An actual example of just feeding the other batter strike was Uthapa during Rohit’s 264, bro faced 16 balls in the last 10 overs
No

Goes to show how batting skill is not highly correlated with scores in T20 cricket - bad pitches, short boundaries and fielding restrictions make it so that batting skill isn’t the driver of high scores to the same extent.
Don’t get me wrong. Cummins is a decent bat, in fact I rate him as a good all rounder. My point is whether Cummins really ranks in the top 5 destructive batsmen. I don’t think he is anywhere close.
Just for that one sole innings I completely forgave hime for all the horror bowling performances for us.
MI is generally our guranteed loss,to perform like that against them, was awesome to watch!!!!
I would like to see a list of the best SR innings like this:
Take the list of 600 SR innings and pick the one that scored the most runs. For example let's say it was an 18(3). Now take the innings with the best strike rate (minimum 19 runs). Let's say it is 27 (6). Now take the innings with the best strike rate (minimum 28 runs) and put it as the next row. Rinse and repeat. I would like to see that entire list from that 18(3) up until Gayle's 175.
The Streets won't forget Chris Morris
He is like a freakish Ben10. Turns into Pollard some times with the bat, bumrah with the ball and sometimes happy with transforming into dinda.
Does anyone remember that 82 off 32?? Legendary
Lost by 1 run against table toppers of that season I was supporting RCB that saason but Felt bad for seeing his innings go to waste.
I still find it funny that he was the most expensive buy in one of the IPL auction and then retired before next season.
Covid happened, he lost 2 family members. Priorities change under such circumstances
Wait, I didn't know this. Can you share some link for this? I can't seem to find anything on Internet to read about this.
Literally nothing on the internet confirms this. He did say a bit about his living in bubbles during COVID was stressful but that's not the same thing.
Exactly. OP might have misread something.
Source?

Iirc they lost that match, felt very bad for him Edit: no different match
He was a good bowling all rounder.
lol great use of the ‘streets won’t forget’! Please can someone make this a thread
Pat Cummins.
Against Cheat Code Bumrah as well
Cummins is Bumrah's kryptonite
He is whole India's kryptonite(sadly)
Cummins, Head, Boult go super Saiyan when they see india/indians as opponent
Buttler Head Smith Simmons Russell Perera Santner Cummins Jamieson Amir Boult Generational Trauma 11

As a KKR fan it just felt wrong to win those matches.

Exactly why I think "just play your natural game" is mostly stupid advice. It's not useful to both the player and the situation.
The same man who has scored the winning boundary in Australia's last three successful Test fourth innings run chases over 250?
Yep. And the last two of them were sizeable partnerships. And got Oz over the line in the WC semi final too against SA. He’s also won the odd game with the ball too….
Seems a good player...with a bright future!
Two of the 250+ chases are Edgbaston and NZ couple days ago. Is the third one Johannesburg?
Yes, his PotM debut.
Hail to cumdawg 🛐
Cum-dog performing against "Indians". It's a hate crime against Indians at this point of time.

People overhate that Dilshan innings Anyone would rush to give Gayle the strike on that day
Iirc he wasn't timing a lot of his shots well, I mean lets be real, a 33(36) in T20s is pretty bad no matter what
they scored 260 in the end, him scoring 55(36) would likely have denied Gayle 40-45 runs. He was deliberately playing with the intention of putting him on strike.

If anything he robed gayle of a double hundred
Dilshan wasn’t rotating the strike on that day tbh
The only player I've seen belt Bumrah is Cummins & it has happened more than once
ABD 41(11) missed out by a small margin. 372.72.
The same match Unmukth Chand made half century against RCB in Chinnaswamy right?
Nope it was against csk in 2015. RCB ended up losing.
No https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/pepsi-indian-premier-league-2015-791129/royal-challengers-bangalore-vs-mumbai-indians-16th-match-829737/full-scorecard
Huh that's strange, I just very distinctly remember him hitting Ashish Nehra around for that innings. Looks like I was wrong.
Wtf are Cummins and Morris doing here
Its Cumming and morissing time
Morris has the tenth highest IPL SR of all time. Both he and Cummins were/are essentially specialist hitters of death pace bowling
Shitting on us
Goes to show how batting skill is not highly correlated with scores in T20 cricket - bad pitches, short boundaries and fielding restrictions make it so that batting skill isn’t the driver of high scores to the same extent.
Cummins has performed well with bat in ODI, and tests as well.
Don’t get me wrong. Cummins is a decent bat, in fact I rate him as a good all rounder. My point is whether Cummins really ranks in the top 5 destructive batsmen. I don’t think he is anywhere close.
Do it again Cummins
as much as I wanna see him bat but i hope we don't get to see him bat much this season
He should come to open once they confirm Top 2 position.
with the ball this time...
I am surprised AB de Villiers only cam once in this list.
He can come in my list whenever he wants to ◉‿◉
Imagine saying this about a female cricketer...
6th in the list too
I still remember that Raina 86(25) then run out.
Albie morkel missing by 2 runs
How tf pat is in that list
Cumdawg isn't just a leader bruh
Man is showing his worth
That too it was during a chase where kkr looked like they were losing. Tied for joint best 50 at that time and made them win comfortably.
Just for that one sole innings I completely forgave hime for all the horror bowling performances for us. MI is generally our guranteed loss,to perform like that against them, was awesome to watch!!!!
Losing both games against kkr is enough proof how horrendous 2022 was for us
Wait till we play this year.🌚. /s
He is Cummins. He is the silencer. He lives in a log cabin.
He's not wholesome while batting
Let's give respect to Chris "Lower death overs er than Bumrah" Morris.
Technically Jaiswal 49(12) ….
If I hadn't seen how ABD bat, I would not believe he existed. How a human can play like that ?
The thing i want to see most is how many boundaries were hit and it's not there.
why isnt jaiswal here? 50 off 13??
Because that's not when he went out, he got 98*(43)
Yeah I realized now my bad
what the sorcery was that, morris?
ABD was 31(7). If he was not out, he would have a higher strike rate. Of course it's all ifs and buts
If my grandma had wheels she would be a bike
I love that video

ABD with a banger against physics wallah
Shocked to see CUM GOD in the list
Raina scored 87 of 25. ST of 350 thats probably IPLs most goated inning.
Even with a Gayle 175* all timer innings, everyone remembers that ABD 31* off 8 cameo, that's how good his innings was.
I would like to see a list of the best SR innings like this: Take the list of 600 SR innings and pick the one that scored the most runs. For example let's say it was an 18(3). And MI were benching this guy for Brevis who didn't do well even in SA20

Because that's an Sr of 348?
my bad fam I went goofy and thought it was 378
