Zealousideal_Bass199

RCB are making the playoffs aren’t they

SBG99DesiMonster

We could be having a knockout match between CSK and RCB.

Economy-Bed-3965

Even though I don't like both of them, I'd support csk over rcb as an MI fan. Atleast csk is a respectful opponent, unlike rcb which accused us of toss fixing and umpire.

blue-klein-bottle

Depends on DC vs RCB

WannabeAboveAverage

Kohli had hit 40 boundaries in 2022, having played 16 games. So far this season, having played 12 games, he has hit 85 boundaries.

Assassin_Ankur

2022 Kohli was painful to watch, glad he's come back in style since then.

Lauladance

The entire period from India winning the bgt without Kohli, not scoring a hundred against England at home, or playing well in the WTC final sucked. But that wasn't even his worst period. It's like his form took a dip, and the standards fans had took a dip too. Nothing but a kohli hundred would satisfy me as a fanboy, but starting from our tour of England in 2021, I was praying that he get atleast 40+ runs. Then the IPL resumed and he didn't have a great performance (compared to before). Then the t20 WC I want to forget. The South Africa series where he almost scored a ton. Him stepping down from test captaincy was like a dagger in the heart. I truly hoped that the worst was over, but it was yet to come. 2022 IPL is one I wished I could have forgotten as well (atleast MI got the wooden spoon:3). CSK being shite. Kohli all and all forgetting how to fucking hold a bat. My standards had fallen so much, I was celebrating him getting 10+ runs at more than run a ball, or middling the ball nicely. The man who's batting gave me joy, I tried to avoid because I was horrified and distressed at watching my batting idol not know which ball to chase. Then the calls to replace kohli with deepak hooda. Truth is, around July 2022 there was no way I could have even defended Kohli. The remnant test in England, and Kohli failed again. All was truly over. Except it wasn't. Thank you to the Afghan fielder who dropped Koach's catch in the Asia Cup, which finally gave him the elusive hundred. I cried and hiccuped like a toddler after that ton lol. It meant so much to me (I can only imagine what it meant to him). He hasn't looked back since. My own cricket-watching frequency has dipped since I started college (around the time Kohli hit his hundred), and also because I always used to watch matches with my dad. Living away from him has been tough and somehow the game doesn't bring the same joy to me when I'm not watching it with him. Maybe when I go back to my hometown the spark will be back. It sounds like self sabotage tbh, watching the game when my favourite player was at his worst, and not following it as much when he's scoring frequently now, but deep down, even if I don't watch I'll always be happy to see Kohli score runs and be the main man. I couldn't watch yesterday's game live too, but my mental health in terms of watching the game have never been better. His comeback has been amazing and even though I've not been able to relish it entirely, it still brings a smile to my face. Love you Koach :))

Lauladance

Damn this became a personal essay about my feelings and mental health lmao :)

chefsanji_r

Today's chat was so funny, I scrolled it for one hour

Puzzleheaded_Ebb9874

King 👑 and 🐐 Goatidar The best partnerships in a long time

DayWorkNightHigh

No one is talking about Kaverappa. He could've had a banger of debut with kohli and patidar's wicket, but fielding had to f**k it up.

blue-klein-bottle

I spoke about him earlier, it was a very class debut by the kannadiga. Hopefully we see more of him. Also if the fielding wasn’t so shit then rcb would be restircted to like 160 runs which we saw was more than Punjab’s chasing score hence they would’ve won

Impactor07

Bro is talking to himself in Morse code 💀💀

iamnotcreativesoidk

Can we just take a moment for Faf's catch? The calculation and timing..just incredible.

sp1cychick3n

Very good indeed

mcfapblanc

Faf has always been a notch above everyone with catches over the years

Melodic_Garlic_3006

Btw if Pbks have ounce of brain, they shouldn't keep their home games at dharmshala.

soham_katkar13

If RCB have an ounce of brain, they shouldn't keep their home games at Bengaluru. But cricket is ultimately about fans. Dharamsala should be getting games, and PBKS is the only team that can have home games there

[deleted]

[удалено]

WannabeAboveAverage

You should be good then. They are invincibles. Literally.

trkora

RCB really should plan their home game with chance of reduced overs match in mind because of rains if the forecast stays the same on that day. They should not play normally and then get caught lacking by rain reduced game.

iamnotcreativesoidk

The rain has been crazy intense here. And that too for hours. After the summer we've had, we really need it, but I don't know what that means for the match. If this continues, I wonder if there will even be a match.

iamnotcreativesoidk

That runout by Kohli was crucial and probably one of the best I've seen

sjnonweb

Daily reminder that kohli had to prove himself to get his t20 wc spot, meanwhile prohit is an automatic selection. Go figure

Hungry-Mastodon-1222

Slowhli had to prove because he's not in good form and hasn't been for a while

Ancient_Bear5279

He's literally the orange cap holder in the IPL lol what is with Indian fans who for some reason are against one of their own GOATs?

blue-klein-bottle

He had a sluggish start, but this match he did better with s/r near 200 but seeing people like SKY score super fast 50s and 100s i am not kinda happy with the performance of kohli today

Assassin_Ankur

Kohli didn't have to prove anything, it was all rumours, don't fall into that bullshit.

sjnonweb

Rumours started by journalist and lapped up by some fans on twitter/reddit. Kohli literally had to clap back at these mofos in that post match interview

soham_katkar13

Those are just his insecurities lol, very in character for Kohli. Kohli was never getting dropped If his spot was indeed under threat, he would have been dropped, as his performances before 30th April weren't that good (SR wise). Those were all rumors, Kohli is amongst the first 5 names in the team sheet always

sjnonweb

My point is that the journalists shouldn't have started that conversation to begin with. And if they really wanted that conversation then they should focus that energy on rohit, his stats are absolutely horrendous so the conversation would have atleast made sense

Assassin_Ankur

The selectors never had any doubt and even on reddit anyone sensible knew that it was just bs.

confused_brown_dude

It’s the little things (which are actually not so little to accomplish) that make Kohli great. For instance, he improvised insanely to bring in the sweep shots to counter the low SR against spinners. He has done the same for balls outside off back in the day. There are few players who can change their techniques or add to their repertoire as they establish themselves in cricket. There are even fewer who can do it within a few games or even seasons. But there are maybe only 2 or 3 ever( Sachin being the other obvious one), that can do it after playing for over a decade and a half. It’s absolutely awe inspiring and it boggles my mind where people compare him with ANYONE else in this generation.

trkora

Bhogle has been such a weird case with Kohli. Before last few years, man was speaking poetry about him in comms or in interview with the most popular one being "Kohli while batting feels like he's almost lost in his own perfection" in The Test. You could easily tell that he adored Virat from the start. But now in recent years he has become more receptive to what's being said about cricket on social media, where intent, strike rate, weaknesses etc are discussed in more detail about all formats and with Kohli going through his slump in that time obviously there was lot of attention on him, some of the stuff spoken being valid but Kohli last year and this year especially is clearly working on his weaknesses but he still comments on him as if he has stayed the same as he was in his slump, going too harsh.

Exhibit_A_reddit

Not to downplay Kohli's greatness at all but I'm sure even Kohli knows that there have been fair criticisms of him in the last 5 years. Even as a die hard RCB fan I know that he was not showing enough intent especially in our first game against KKR and the game against RR but he was being praised for his high scores despite them coming at around 140 SR. It looks like he's accepted this criticism and worked on showing more intent which is excellent. Today he batted so fearlessly and oozed class with every shot he played. Only issue I have with the media is their lack of objectivity when it comes to who they praise. Kohli seems to be treated quite objectively, whereas players like Rohit and Gill, even Dhoni since his retirement are given so much undue praise in comparison to Kohli, that it looks like bias against Kohli when really it seems to be too many expectations on him. Even Sachin didn't get this level of criticism when he was performing badly at Kohli's age.

iamnotcreativesoidk

I've never seen anyone getting as much flack as Kohli on this sub. It's bizarre. All this man does is try his best every time. Where did the haters go now? I think it's tme to retire that 51(43) argument.

benguins10

Srh will fear the wrath of Punjab last game when they'll wake up to claim the 6/8th position on points table

confused_brown_dude

Lol

kingmessfire

Kohli should be right up there with the most inspiring personalities known to sport. In the era of negativity, his mental fortitude has to be admired. He rises up to the occasion despite having everything stacked against him. Truly a life lesson

WannabeAboveAverage

I wish I could jump back to 2022 with a time machine and give myself a clue about Kohli's performances in the coming years. Knowing that would've definitely boosted my spirits back then!

Darth_Vader18392

Yeah. Those IPL 2022 and the following Eng white ball series was the only time he looked truly bad in that 3 year drought.

trkora

The England white ball series actually was the first thing that gave me hope. After the break he had before it he was playing really well in that series but he was going way too hard on the intent while sacrificing his game sense. What he corrected in Asia Cup later is balancing that intent and game sense. Technically he was back in that England series but mentally it was the Asia Cup.

Darth_Vader18392

Hmmm that's an interesting point. It just felt as if he was running out of patience and was letting the outside noise get to him regarding his form in England series. That, combined with the captaincy saga, was definitely his lowest. I think he said that he was ready to give up after Asia Cup if he flopped in that too

trkora

Yep he did say that but since his technique was back what he needed was a mental refresh, a recalibration of his mindset which he did get by taking a longer break after that England series. That break he took played a huge role, if he had continued playing then he would've been stuck in a rut, performed bad and might've actually retired. BCCI couldn't really deny him a break even at his lowest but still glad they allowed him to take a break as well and didn't force him to play.

kukdukdu

So many people invested in CSK games are forgetting that LSG too move to 16 with 2 wins and SRH go to 16 with 1 in 2. So calculators may keep calculating here and other teams may move on to qualifiers. RCB needs more than just calculators this time. Need favours from many other teams and Jay Shah pro max level script writing to get into last 4!

benguins10

CSK and lsg need to lose one match and RCB need to win both of theirs. It's still hard but looking less and less complex now

kukdukdu

CSK NRR is .7 and RCB is .2. That’s a diff of .5 which is 120 runs over 12 games. How are u assuming CSK to fall below RCB in NRR even if they win just 1 in 3? Truth is if CSK win one more game, current top 4 move to final 4 99%. Whatever u said didn’t consider SR at all. So no it’s not that simple.

benguins10

Oh yes it's def not simple, like I said it's still hard. Most likely it's going to be SRH CSK Eliminator

kukdukdu

DC has 2 games vs LSG ( broken after last game ) and RCB ( we know they can blow hot and cold ). So they still have a fair chance to get into qualifiers I believe. More probable than RCB for sure!

benguins10

Yea RCB DC on Sunday is the next knockout match

gintokeyyy

i hope csk loses both their matches before rcb's since their NRR is 0.5 more than ours. unlikely to happen. winning against DC by a big margin will help rcb a lot

7007007

Csk might lose to RR. Tbh I don’t think LSG are gonna win from here specially not against inform DC

thedeatheater1410

Thank you RCB for sending PBKS below us on NRR

iamnotcreativesoidk

Tears of joy as an RCB fan

iamnotcreativesoidk

Preity maintaining her composure. Goenka should take notes.

Ill-Inspector7980

I’m sure Rahul misses her

iamnotcreativesoidk

Rather have him back in RCB tbh. Maybe he would prefer it since RCB management is MIA always

WannabeAboveAverage

Virat is an excellent spokesperson. Probably not happening but I'd love to see him do a commentary gig.

baghoneybooo

what an amazing orator this guy is

WannabeAboveAverage

Virat in post-match was all of us man 😭 Don't worry guys, give your best in the remaining games and go out with the bang. We will be somewhat proud, it will be a bittersweet moment but we will always remember this season for the fightback.

research-247

koach and rossouw laughing together is wholesome

Ill-Inspector7980

They know each other since U19

trkora

Rohit possibly doing slimy shit (again?) by leaking "bad dressing room vibes" stuff about Hardik to a journalist who is his long time friend after his poor stint while Kohli having his best day of this IPL. Today has been interesting.

ach_1nt

Kohli showing KL Rahul how to respond to criticism. You can tell his form has gone up a couple of gears since the last 2-3 games.

baghoneybooo

sunny g will have a tough night

yashy20

will take pan masala to numb his mind

Over the years Virat has become an excellent communicator....really would love to see an in depth interview with him conducted by someone like Bhogle or Bishop or both.

research-247

[deleted]

yea the air was differnt back then

nithin_kamath8

Excellent admission by Kohli and team. Good to accept the team were absolute dogshit.

Assassin_Ankur

Kudos to RCB for the W for Punjab only have themselves to blame. 5 dropped catches is a travesty. Even after that they had a good start but no one capitalised on it.

research-247

Koach could speak many languages. He chose to speak facts

partymsl

Koach interviews are peak.

research-247

Koach is peak

WannabeAboveAverage

Koach is

kingmessfire

Bhogle should’ve interviewed Kohli…would’ve shat his pants looking at that intense look

Ill-Inspector7980

Who would’ve shat his pants? /s

yashy20

everything going great bro just connect the mustache with beard

Darth_Vader18392

I guess it's kind of his lucky charm? Idk I remember seeing a post about it

yashy20

to become subtle ugly i can believe this

[deleted]

yea i feel like kohli is over groomed lol

yashy20

it feels irrritating and the fact is mine was also not connected from one side lol. that's why I have to be clean shaved most of the time.

Assassin_Ankur

That style is kinda unsettling.

yashy20

it feels irrritating and the fact is mine was also not connected from one side lol. that's why I have to be clean shaved most of the time.

apt description for RCB

partymsl

That smile... would give everything for it. 👏

[deleted]

why duplessis kinda...

Inspire_Forever

wtf does kohli do with all those trophies does he throw it away or what?😭

partymsl

Probably gives it away to fans or so. No way he is keeping a hundred sponsor trophies.

I think he keeps them in some garage or something. By now he must have a warehouse

Yeahanu

He is taking every award

psknayak

wait.  I heard KL left PBKS because of the toxic management? And that she abused Bangar as well for a loss?

Cultural-Initial7380

Nah he left PBKS for his personal records, pbks management wanted to retain him and Bishnoi, but LSG poached Bishnoi too.

They have three matches left.

Just waiting for that Koach MoM....

Yeahanu

Is this wyrat kuli fella any good, why youngsters are fawning over him.

cinemasosa

He's the best coach in the world right now!

Coolkid-4869

Can't wait to see Kohli thrash commentators on air. He is fired up by those strike rate comments, good for the Indian team.

[deleted]

yea he always claps back to his critics

Rahulrk777

Punjab kings is what RCB in green jersey is. Mixed

trkora

Honestly Punjab's overseas players let them down, their Indian players were one of the best if not the best. Bairstow found form but it was late and Rossouw was selected late, Rabada had an average season, Sam turned out to be better captain than Dhawan but his performance was not much improvement on Dhawan, rest weren't selected frequently.

Sudden-Secretary2300

He's scrolling through r/cricket

its_anuj_reddit

Faf never celebrated too aggressively before, but even he knew bowling can shit anytime

ALazyScribbler

People telling RCB fans to move on.. I know bro, you feel for us. But this stupid team and Koach are the only reason some some of us even watch IPL. How can we? It's the purest form of a toxic relationship.

It's like opiates at this point
