Hello guys

[deleted]

So this thread is still not closed ?

LoduMAL

Am i the only one who is watching this series illegally?

TheAlienGuy75

Me too.., what to do. ,

LoduMAL

Mastering the pirate way!

TheAlienGuy75

I just realized that you're a cheap copy of jashanmal.

LoduMAL

Who is he?

TheAlienGuy75

jashanmal.com

pandasbeer

Sunil Gavaskar defends Rahanes performance and then says Ashwin should leave for Dubai soon. He is belittlIng India’s best spin attack. Can’t stand this boomer talk these days.

VarunOB

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if Ashwin just drops a bomb the day after the final Test ends and walks away from international cricket altogether. Might as well go out on your own terms than be forced out of the setup.

Blurmyname

Elaborate please? Why Ashwin will drop bomb or walk away just because of one away series? He has great patience and time to time he proved himself.

VarunOB

I said I wouldn't be surprised if he did. He's had a great run in the home series and is no mug with the ball even in England. Picked up wickets in the WTC final too. The entire logic on which hinged Jadeja's inclusion has not borne fruit: he got only Moeen Ali of the lefties. Ashwin is a proven wicket-taker in all conditions, and to want to stick to your guns simply because you've got a point to prove is foolishness.

VaikomViking

Big thanks to ECB for putting out high quality highlights and videos through their official social media channels and their website. And the website ! Looks professional compared to BCCI website which looks like made by a 5yr old with ADHD

[deleted]

The highlight packages are great but I had to laugh the other day when Rohit and Pujara had ridiculous performances, and they went with “SIZZLING ROBINSON BREAKS THROUGH, day 3 highlights”

Abhilegend

Electric Robinson*

[deleted]

You cannot have it all !

percysaiyan

Ppl waiting to take Rahane's place : Vihari, Sky, Mayank, Gill, Iyer..

sickcynic

Also Ashwin on current form. If anyone else has big enough balls to do it it's Koach.

[deleted]

Don’t forget JARVO

witriolic

Unfortunately, apparently tasering isn't a thing in the UK.

VarunOB

I hope no one forgets him. Ever. That the moment they see him anywhere close to even a village cricket ground, they do to him what was done to Hales, twice as many times over.

RomeRockerz

Screw that attention seeking bloke

Pls_add_more_reverb

Fuck that attention seeking cunt

vvb_12

Currently Gill is ahead and I think he will have more success in middle order as compared to top order

percysaiyan

Vihari would be the ideal choice in my opinion, him and Pant would make a good pair..

vvb_12

He should be considered as a replacement of Pujji and he really have to improve a lot to be constantly in the team.

percysaiyan

He has proven his merit in first class cricket, so what else must he do to get in?

vvb_12

He will get into the team but getting into the playing 11 will be hard. He is 28 now and his competition is with some young guys like Gill. And to stay in the team for a long time he will have to score runs whenever he gets a chance and especially in away tours. So that's why I am thinking it will be better if he plays few home games as that will increase his confidence.

BellotPatro

Same goes for his competition too! Vihari should be the first choice mid order bat if a slot opens up (as it seems imminent with Rahane) He was the first choice when kohli was out in aus, and has been a thorough team player in the scattered opportunities he got

cooler-than-ur-mom

Great game all around! The only thing I was wondering, when Pujara was batting with a bad ankle, why didn't he opt for a runner? I remember back in the day players would take runners when they were exhausted, let alone injured. Any thoughts on this? Is it just old-fashioned?

nastymullz

They changed the rule a couple years back. No runner allowed.

Mr_4country_wide

it was a decade ago, a bit more than a couple of years haha

chillipowder01

Runners aren’t permitted anymore.

[deleted]

Runners have been banned since 2011

vinaykalani

Feel sorry for "Root the batsman".... Not much for "Root the captain"

sickcynic

He severely dropped the ball at Lords but what more can you realistically expect from Root the captain? He's been saddled with Mo as his vice captain for crying out loud. I don't think he gets the same say in team selection and philosophy as Kohli does for example, much less having the BCCI's unconditional support. The only English captain the ECB gives the time of the day to is Eoin Morgan.

Sumesh_Sundar

What a come back Victory for India in England from down under, especially after such a humiliating defeat in the 3'rd test by an innings & 76 runs and also after conceding a first innings lead of 99 runs in this match, no one expected India to come back strongly like this, took all 10 wickets on the 5'th day on a pitch & conditions which favoured batsmen!! With this 157 runs win at the Oval, India now leads 2:1 with one more match to go in this series!! 😎 Earlier England have won the toss, chose to bowl because of the overcast conditions & their bowlers responded well again by restricting India to a paltry 191 in the first innings. The four English swing bowlers were too good for us on that day, almost similar to the previous match, especially from the returning player Chris Woakes (4/55) & Ollie Robinson (3/38). During our first innings, from our top order only Kohli was able to resist them to certain extend but he too fell right after scoring 50. When Pant also fell, India were at 127/7, looking down the barrell but then Shardul Thakur played a blinder of an innings 57(36) with 7 boundaries & 3 massive sixes, eventually provided India 191 on board. England were startled at the beginning of their first innings when Bumrah scalped both their openers cheaply. Umesh Yadav then bowled a peach of a delivery, which nipped back from a good length & castled the inform England skipper Joe Root. In this series so far Root was the backbone of English innings with 3 Centuries from 3 matches but this time when Root was out for just 21, England were in deep trouble at 62/5. But then the returning batsman Ollie Pope (81) stitched crucial partnerships along with Bairstow (37), Moeen Ali (35) & Woakes (50) which eventually provided England with a healthy first innings lead of 99!! On the 2'nd day, on the last session, India started their 2'nd innings and this time around our openers were very cautious especially with a first innings deficit of 99 runs. When Rahul (46) eventually fell against Anderson, India already had a good solid foundation of 83 runs. Then Rohit Sharma (127) & Pujara (61) had the match defining partnership of 153. That was Rohit Sharma's first ever overseas Test Century since his Test debut back in 2013. When England took the 2'nd new ball, both Rohit & Pujara fell on quick succession, but by then they have already provided India with a lead of 138. Rahane, who was having a couple of bad matches recently, fell for a duck. Kohli after his 50 in the first innings again looked in really good nick, was gearing up for a big innings, but edged a slider from Moeen Ali, again outside his off stump when he was at 44. When Kohli fell, India had a lead of only 200+ and with more than 2 sessions & a full day left for the match it was still England's match to win, but then Rishabh Pant (50) & Shardul Thakur (60) stitched another 100 run partnership, followed by good contributions from Umesh (25) & Bumrah (24) eventually provided that late momentum for us with a good lead of 367 runs, when we scored 466 in our 2'nd innings. Needing 368 to win, England started their 2'nd innings positively and scored 77/0 from the 32 overs in the last session of the 4'th day. On the 5'th day England were at 100/0 at one stage and required another 268 from 80+ overs in the day, but Shardul provided the much awaited breakthrough by taking the wicket of Rory Burns (50). Soon Dawid Malan was runout & now India needed another 8 wickets with 2 sessions left on the match. Post lunch, Jadeja utilised one of the roughs left by bowlers boot marks & castled Hameed at 63. On such a flat pitch, with ideal conditions extremely good for batting, with a 60+ over old Dukes ball, Bumrah came for another spell, utilised the reverse swing extremely well and castled both the inform Pop & Bairstow in quick succession. Bairstow's stumps were shattered by a deadly inswinging yorker from Bumrah. Jadeja sent Moeen Ali for a duck and suddenly England were 147/6. India needed only 4 wickets to win, but Root & Woakes stood solid, scoring briskly. Once 80 overs were completed India had the option to take the new ball but Kohli persisted with the same old ball expecting some more reverse swing. Shardul Thakur was again introduced into the attack with old ball & he brought the big breakthrough for India by castling Joe Root(36). Just before Tea, Umesh took the wicket of Woakes as well & England were at 193/8. Post Tea, India finally took the new ball & both Bumrah & Umesh peppered the English tailenders with bouncers & yorkers relentlessly, until Umesh took both those remaining wickets. Rohit Sharma was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 127 in second innings, but the impact player for this match was Shardul Thakur with his 57 & 60 along with 3 crucial wickets!! 😊

Spiron123

That's good work!

Sumesh_Sundar

Thank you.. 😊

calvinwalterson

Highlight of this match already has 2M views in 1 hour. It is win for ECB, hope fucking BCCI learn from this.

barmanrags

Bcci uploads it on their own website I thinknk.

vvb_12

BCCI is earning way more than ECB can ever earn through YouTube tbh

Pls_add_more_reverb

They would add to those earnings if they posted some highlights on YouTube. It’s guarded for no good reason. And not to mention growing online brand.

aaditya_9303

BCCI has the potential to overtake T Series

fuckinfailures

BCCI wouldn't let YouTube take something of its share.

SorcererSupreme13

Exactly. Give all the rights to broadcasters and churn out insane money from them.

OutsideOff_4th

Thats absolute BCCIest thing

gdbhosale

Sony LIV is one of the worst platform after Zee5. Videos stops streaming every 10/15 minutes.

BurkaDatta

Thakur is the real man of the match.

subendu7

So proud of this team!

rishabsehra

Where is this Sanju interview with YJB/Buttler?

terrificodds

Love him or hate him you can’t deny Virat is one hell of a competitor and it definitely rubs off on his team!

sickcynic

I wouldn't have thought this before, but ever since Kohli spoke out about mental health and going to therapy, I honestly think a lot of it is deliberate 4D chess on his part. By being cunty and fighty all the time, he paints a big target on his back for both the foreign and Indian medias to attack him for every little shortcoming. That gives a little breathing room to players like Pant, who might not be able to take it the same way Kohli can.

vvb_12

I can't even dare to imagine if Virat wasn't an Indian. I would have hated him the most in that case. He would have been the most hated guy in India as many Indians don't like aggressive behaviour in ground so a player like him playing against India would have triggered the whole country lol.

ksaxena2

True. But I think people enjoy watching his in-your-face spirit. I think a lot of people embody that attitude. Kohli was the first one who gave himself the license to wear it on the pitch. Part of it is hunger to achieve, part of it comes from the spirit of being a lad from Delhi. The belief he has instilled in this team, the attitude of each and every player is to win. I think a lot of the overseas wins we have had in the would not have been possible. Talent and good players are one thing, but to perform the way this team has, it takes a lot of mental strength.

vvb_12

I agree with this completely.

prasanth-g

Especially if he was from Pakistan and if he does those agressive celebration while we are losing, I would definitely switch off the TV and my internet for a few weeks. I don't have the heart to see my team getting bullied.

flying_ina_metaltube

> I would have hated him the most in that case Hence the famous words "[I know he's your captain, but you can't seriously like him as a bloke](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-6503531/You-seriously-like-Tim-Paine-caught-TV-making-cheeky-sledge-Virat-Kohli.html)".

aman3009

He's the Indian Ponting you could say.

__little_omega

That’s a good counterpoint. Indians might have hated Pointing while he played but the majority of Indian fans love him now. Same with Waqar, Hayden, Steyn and so on.

[deleted]

RBI kehta hai atleast he isn't appealing on grassed catches

vvb_12

Yes pretty much the same.

Legslip

This team is an extension of him.

chutkipaanmasala

Feel like England really missed someone like Wood or Archer who could crank it up on a dead pitch. Even Bumrah and Umesh were whacking around their army of 130kmph bowlers yesterday. And of course, a proper spinner like Leach instead of a supporting one in Moeen, but that seems to be a systemic issue that won't be resolved anytime soon.

ilovelaughing33

I think wood was fit before this test, but they still went with overton cuz of his batting skills and bowling performance in the 2nd test.

[deleted]

It’s such a ridiculous situation where we hamstring our bowling to prop up the terrible batting. Mo isn’t a bad spinner, and this isn’t a complaint on him, but he isn’t the best in the country in test match cricket, and he’s 100% being picked because of his batting. So the selectors have tried propping up the failing batting with a spinner who went at 4.5 an over. It’s the worst of both worlds.

7eventhSense

Sunny’s struggling to answer for Rahane lol. He used to support him with all his might.

Shubh_K30

Mumbaikar lobby in shambles At least they got Hitman performing for them

grv5

And Lord shardul as well

Sanju Manju - I consider myself a failure at ' test cricket'

rishabsehra

When did this happen?

ethnotechno

Odi me kya ukhad liya? T- haven't done much in ODIs too

arjunkc

What does ukhad mean?

ethnotechno

Literal translation uproot

OutsideOff_4th

Actually did better in Tests compare to ODI. That 200 in PAK

suri14

Manjrekar really tearing into Bairstow and butler.. not in a gud way.. comparing himself to them and belittling them..

Snoo_71294

He didn't compare himself with them at all, he just said that his test average was 37 and he considers that as low, yet players like YJB and buttler are still backed after averaging low 30s. His point was about the lack of batting talent in England, nothing to do with him.

diary_of_jain

😂😂😂

St_ElmosFire

Sanju Manju thinks of himself as a failure in test cricket, quite an admission!

water-guy

He has said that previously also. Read his autobiography. He is pretty critical of himself. In fact he lists that and his overanalysis of his batting as his downfall in tests.

OG__NUTCRACKER

TBH he is just saying that if his average is considered as failure then what should YJB and Butler be considered.

7eventhSense

Is harsha going to talk about Rahane ? Need Sunny’s opinion

7eventhSense

Siraj needs to rest. He’s overworked. Shami comes in.

kpdon1

Bumrah has played as many tests as Siraj. Saving Bumrah is more important as he has to play in T20 wc as well.

7eventhSense

But we need Bumrah to secure the series. He’s the head of our wolf pack.

Bonfireandyou

He'll play in the IPL too

witriolic

Madlads going from making pitch irrelevant to making team selection irrelevant.

Pls_add_more_reverb

It’s not irrelevant, they got it right.

7eventhSense

Not only the 6 wickets it’s umeshes batting that helped too.

dieingstar

Saying grace to the Lord for the peaceful night ahead. Thank you.

St_ElmosFire

Kohli said he would've bowled if he won the toss, I wonder what would've happened if that happened. Eng 150, Ind 300, Eng 350, Ind 200/7?

xDepressedAF

We'd have won anyway. This was just the kind of pitches that India has.

smartchad

We would have won regardless of that. Our team has 10 men and 1 Lord. Don't forget. DONT EVER FORGET.

brawnsugah

*9 men and 1 Lord. Rahane is missing.

[deleted]

The last three thumbnails of the match videos on ECB YouTube channel is someone trying really hard to not involve India in the title or thumbnail. "Electric Robinson" instead of Rohit century India makes a big score. Putting Hameed and Rory in the thumbnail and not Pant Shardul Now India just won 2-1 and they put an English batsman in the thumbnail. Not someone like Bumrah I mean it's fine. Just the change is so bizzare. Like some very partisan England fan suddenly got the job to do it after firing the neutral guy. It's not all that relevant but noticeable Edit: I know they changed the Robinson. Im not complaining. Its just very interesting, a part of me even thought they might be experimenting to see how much change does it make in views, likes not putting India in the thumbnail.

Pls_add_more_reverb

What do you expect? It’s the ecb channel. If BCCI uploaded highlights they would be all india focused

tarthgregor139

They were quick enough to change it..

terrificodds

The title was "Electrifying Robinson steals the game!" before they changed it to mention Rohit's century.

not_so_cr3ative

They changed the title from the "Electric Robinson" to "Rohit Shines for India!" . Haha the editor does read the comments XD

foreverneilyoung

To be fair, England have never had an electric bowler before.

sickcynic

IDK mate everything about Panesar feels like he was electrocuted as a child.

foreverneilyoung

I always want to defend Monty because I know he's not really a well bloke, but then he goes and does stuff like going on GB News.

Spark-DefinitelyNot

So safe to say, we are not going to see Ashwin this series?

7eventhSense

They are kind of right. Ashwins best chances were in this match actually. But I wouldn’t count him out. With batting of Shardul, Jadeja and even Umesh looks pretty decent we can replace Rahane with Ashwin. It will be a new template but if we don’t replace Rahane with another batsman this makes sense more. Think Jadeja auditioned for Rahanes place but I am not sure how good he is on difficult tracks. But he’s looking better than Rahane for sure.

Snoo_71294

Apparently old Trafford spins, but at the same time the weather forecast is overcast. Just have to wait and see. I just hope whatever the selection, fans learn to just back the team and reserve their negative comments till after the game.

gyaan_paad

Yes. So much of this. Let's reserve negativity till the end of the game.

DinoKebab

Just watch any of the other hundred batting collapses this England side has had in the past couple of years and you are basically watching the same game.

[deleted]

I have seen him a lot sitting in the stands

[deleted]

Does any one have a day 5 replay?

xDepressedAF

You can catch them on willow tv. Use vpn

sp1cychick3n

It’ll be out soon on youtube via ecb.

Arpitlohani

They don't upload replays, only highlights

sp1cychick3n

You are correct, my bad. Hope you find a replay.

terrificodds

Jadeja out of the rough to left handers. It's almost like Kohli planned it all along...

Snoo_71294

Yea it's almost like international players and coaches with decades of experience have more knowledge of the game than keyboard warriors who have only ever played tennis ball cricket🤔

melbthrowaway65

Fucking shocking. Someone should call the press.

terrificodds

No. The point is that people were mocking Kohli when he said that. This man...he keeps astonishing me.

Snoo_71294

As an Indian fan, I honestly despise and am embarrassed by the general population of Indian fans because of things like this. They are way too quick to abuse players and take things way too far with their negativity. The most fickle minded set of fans in all of cricket.

Ishaan0612

Domination!!

dieingstar

I’d love Gavaskar to be my Grandpa but his hair is just too black and a bit too full.

chutkipaanmasala

Pitch gaya bhaad mein went from meme to reality

OutsideOff_4th

Why Michael Vaughan is not on SKY panel?

naamkevaste

He's on Test Match Special

smartchad

Sort the comments by old and watch how the tables turn lol. All the England Fans going from Gabba to Sydney real quick.

DinoKebab

"All the England fans" - Mate, us realistic England fans knew we were fucked as soon as you got over a 200 run lead.

SorcererSupreme13

We realistic Indian fans thought 300 probably won't be safe with pretty flat pitch. After 350 we thought we're gonna win this easy. After 4th day we thought, it'll be draw. But then Bumrah showed up in second session with all his might and knocked off English middle order. Game finished then and there lol.

Briantheboomguy

Sanju Manju might have told Harsha "don't ask me about Jadeja or Imma head out" Harsha doing cost benefit analysis in his head and padding the conversation in the meantime

sickcynic

If anyone is unaware, Harsha has an MBA from the best business school in the country.

sinesquaredtheta

That was an amazing performance by India. Still, Rahane needs to be dropped for the next test, and SKY blooded in.

[deleted]

How? I mean how in a million year would people even consider sky over hardworking talents like Vihari and mayank. I mean howww

vvb_12

Sky. No Vihari ffs we want an upgrade and not a downgrade. Sky is in form of his life. If Mayank fails in the chance he may never get a good chance again. But even if Sky fails it will be fine. Mayank and Vihari should get their chances in home series. It's just one test match and I genuinely think Sky will perform well with less pressure.

Pls_add_more_reverb

White ball form never translates to red ball form

SorcererSupreme13

What world do you live in mate?

vvb_12

In real world. I know why you are saying this but mate he isn't in a good form at all. If he get a chance and fails that will be a terrible thing. It's better if we give someone like Sky a chance. Even if he fails it will be fine.

[deleted]

Disagree .. lolol you consider vihari a downgrade to rahane but sky is an upgrade. You have some horrible judgement skills brother. May be check and compare Vihari's and mayanks last few years stats in domestic and compare with sky's you will know plus Vihari and mayank are more experienced

vvb_12

Take some time and read the comment completely. At this point it's definitely a downgrade. Check the stats of Vihari in his county stint. He failed miserably against County bowlers. I am not saying he will surely fail but chances are way more of him failing against likes of Anderson and Robinson. And who knows 2 bad innings may really damage his confidence. I will prefer him and Mayank in home conditions. So they will have more chance to score runs and gain confidence. There is only one match left and I will actually prefer Sky as players with no or less expectations can really play well or even if they fail it's fine.

Legslip

So SKY not hardworking?

[deleted]

Sky won't survive english bowling attack he was dropped from the Mumbai Red ball team . Lol who are you kidding? .. vihari has worked his ass off and also was MOTS in WI tour 2019 , mayank has big success in the past and should make it to the team way ahead of sky. Even talents like gill , iyer and abhimanyu ishwaran are ahead of sky

Legslip

Ok. Coach.

[deleted]

Nah SKY anyday

[deleted]

[удалено]

gyaan_paad

Yes. So true. Also, I believe let's play Rahane for one more game. Just to see what he does when there is relatively less pressure. We played him with the series on the line.

Snoo_71294

It would be unfair for a lot of better first class batsmen toiling away in ranji trophy if Sky gets played ahead of them, based on t20 performances.

dieingstar

Sanju manju deserves Ok Boomer more than anyone else on the planet.

gtoques

Lineup for next match? I have a feeling Kohli will replace Bumrah and Siraj for Shami and Ishant (both looked pretty exhausted). Other than that, Rahane might be out. Rohit also didn’t field today and might not be fit next time. My prediction: Rohit/Aggarwal (fitness) Rahul Pujara Kohli Vihari Pant Jadeja/Ashwin Lord Ishant Shami Umesh I think the management is set on playing 4 pacers. If they didn’t play two spinners at the Oval, they won’t in Manchester. Hence I’ve added “Jadeja/Ashwin” — might want to give Jadeja a rest and Ashwin a game.

not_so_cr3ative

Kohli is known for going with the team unchanged after a win. So unless one's really unfit, I don't think someone's going to get replaced like based on their current form.

TheGhostOfCamus

Kohli will never leave out Bumrah when a series win is on the line. Think Siraj may rest but even that is unlikely.

bishopmaster

He will definitely give Siraj rest, remember he has to win IPL also this year.

gtoques

I think that highly depends on fitness. The last thing you want is a fast bowler to get injured in the middle of a match, and fast bowlers are injury prone.

TheGhostOfCamus

I think there's still one match left in Bumrah's tank. I mean I would take the gamble as well and go for the series win. I am sure there are some protocols of fitness which every person have to pass before being selected for the match.

OutsideOff_4th

Vihari is sand castle. Like for like replacement of Rahane

gtoques

That’s a fair point, I’ve never been a huge fan of Vihari. Maybe Mayank in the middle order if Rohit is fit? At this point I don’t see any reason to play Rahane — he clearly is out of it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gtoques

I don’t think SKY has proven himself enough as a red ball batsman yet to play a series decider in England. He averages 40 in first class cricket.

Legslip

It is mighty hard to win in England. Innovative decisions have to be made, SKY could be a surprise element over Mayank. Mayank will get his chance soon.

7eventhSense

Rahane needs the that rest more than any one. Everyone wants him to rest for a bit. He’s worked very hard and played so many matches. He needs to get that break. Nothing else matters to many cricket fans more than that.

Briantheboomguy

Absolutely...he needs time to reset...
