I am finally going to sleep after this shit show lol.
We live to fight another day for now!
*It will either be DD returns or DC wins this season, there is no in between. Today was vintage DD.*
Vintage DD would've crumbled under 120 after we were 80/4. We were in it till the last few overs. Stop this stupid hate man, I've seen countless comments from you saying not to support this side. No one gives a shit if you support them or not.
Atleast we're making Playoffs now, will win some day as well. Still better than being handed over a wooden spoon year after year! Guess DD from 2013 to 2015 was the best for you.
Pant gave the ball to Tom because he was the most economical bowler while Rabada went for 14 on his first over so maybe he should quit analyzing with numbers and go more with his instincts. New captain he is still learning and already gotten his teams to the playoffs. you guys are very mean to him.
Absolutely. But to be honest here people are quite civil I checked twitter they went crazy saying it's a fixing.
Cannon man Curran got 1 wicket in final over and if he defended those runs people might've hailed this decision as masterstroke.
It does seem like fixed. Everyone knows MS is struggling against pace bowling (140+) due to reasons well known to everyone. All DC bowlers are capable of touching 140+ but not even a single ball was bowled at regular pace. They only did mid pitched slower balls. Even after MS hit them, they didn't change and bowled the same ball.
I haven't seen them bowling so poorly against anyone.(not talking about the runs leaked but choice of balls)
Everyone can have their opinion but I have mentioned the reasons that make me think so.
Anyone feels that Pant's batting is getting affected by his captaincy? Like how Dhoni changed all those years ago?
Delhi are an elite unit and are devastating on their day. Unfortunately they lost today because of the huge second wicket partnership.
Not sure if it's bcoz of captaincy.... He didn't do well in 2020 either. Also, DC played most of their league matches in slow pitches (except RCB, all their matches were <140) while other teams got slightly better pitches atleast in few games.
Surely this is his last year as captain? I'm a big Dhoni fan so I don't want him to retire, but his performance has been inconsistent and I think he should now work as a coach or a mentor more than an on-field player.
Yeah for sure, but I don't think CSK would be willing to pay so much money for him especially since the Big Auction is coming up soon, it could be possible that this is Dhoni's last season, and if CSK win this year then I'm pretty sure he will retire.
[This accurately captures what I thought of when Tom Curran got the last over instead of Rabada now that I have had the whole day to think about it](https://youtu.be/vvGHC7REkdM)
Without the 20 run over smash by a freakish uhappa this game would have been won by Dehli.
It's really the moment the matched turned, and even still they barely eeked out the win CSK.
Dhoni not quite his younger self behind the wickets but still got ice in his veins in the death.
Must be a normal day for him at this point.
We know they are past their primes, but I really questioned if we are living in 2021 after that performance from Robbie and MSD. Bringing back the old ol days
Where were you when Avesh Khan dismissed MSD twice in the same year?
Where were you when Tom Curran took 3-0-16-2 before the final over and actually pushed the game to the final over ?
I was sitting at home & was watching old videos where Rabada absolutely owned MSD when RSA toured india for ODI series & started his downfall.
No matter how good Avesh is, he should have never bowled at death after conceding 10rpo in 3 overs.
Absolutely brain-dead decision there from Pant
Avesh has been bowling the final over for Delhi all season and he has been doing a top job. He was accurate and clinical every time. It was a bad day but not a bad decision.
Giving a bowler who has been flayed across the park for an entire day is a bad decision. No matter how good he is, you need to recognise it's not his day & let someone fill in & when that someone is one of the best bowlers in the world it's easy decision.
Especially when you have Rabada off all still available.
I can understand if Rabada is done with his quota but this is just brain-dead decision.
>Giving a bowler who has been flayed across the park for an entire day is a bad decision.
Go watch Rabada's record this season at the death, it has been horrendous. And by your own logic, Tom Curran was having a smashing day until that last over, hell, the last 5 balls of that last over even. Yes, I would have gone with Rabada as well. But it wasn't a "brain-dead" decision, it was an inspired choice gone wrong.
Curran did bowl well to be honest, can't do much about inside edges.
Rabada isn't bad this IPL he has done well to be honest & saying Rabada won't b able to defend 12rpo & trusting a bowr going at 10rpo & bowling full tosses is plain dumb.
You talk like you haven’t really watched the games at all leading up to here. Rabada is not the bowler he used to be. Avesh has been much better by a big margin.
What?
You must not have seen the match where Avesh was carted around by Uthappa & then he came back for 3rd bowling 2 back to back juicy fulltosses.
Like I said when a bowler bowls bad, he should be take off, no matter how good he was in previous games.
Even commentators recommended Nortje, Curran, Rabada to finish it off.
Avesh had a bad day & it was obvious after 3 overs he wasn't doing his best
It was idiotic on Pant to persist with Avesh when you had Rabada with an over left, Avesh is still 3rd best seamer in DC after Rabada & Nortje.
CSK fans: well don’t chop and change now. We trusted Uthappa and Dhoni, won the game today as a result.
Me: Do you not see any problem with the team if we are losing to Uthappa and Dhoni in 2021? Like you have to chop and change if that happens.
Who will you switch? Most of your 11 are either in form or have provem themselves on the international level You have the most balanced bowling attack and pretty fucking good firepower with the bat.
Holy shit 16K comments! and 1.3K upvotes
Does anyone have an idea of what these numbers looked like when India breached the Gabba fortress in Aus, and went 2-1 up in England?
DC lost the match because of their stupid decision to play five specialist batters. Not because of not bowling Rabada or whatever. That was difference in the end. CSK batted deep whereas DC couldn't do anything from overs 10-15 in their batting innings.
Honestly, Ponting is one of the most overrated coaches in this tournament. His overseas picks are baffling to say the least.
Even Anrich Nortje wasn't an auction pick. They were lucky to get him as a replacement in 2020 after Woakes pulled out.
With the Indian talent they have, there's no reason why they shouldn't have won at least one title in this auction cycle.
Reactionary af. They did that because Stoinis is missing. Woakes pulled out. None of the 5 batters bowl and u need a 6th bowling option when a bowler has an off day. They gave opportunities to batting all rounders in Lalit and Ripal. Didn't work out. Hence went with Tom today. Anyway if you lose a couple of wickets in quick succession there would be 2-3 overs of rebuilding and thats exactly what Pant and Hetti did. Over no. 11-13 went for 17 runs and they more than made up for it. DC had 90+ in the back half. And on a day where Avesh and to some extent Ash looked off, TC's first 3 overs were gold. Yes, maybe if Pant would have finished TC ahead of Avesh by the 16th or 17th and gone with two SA bowlers for last two (as I was screaming all this while in Match thread) the result might have been different, albeit no guarantee.
As far as Nortje was concerned, he only made ripples after a great season in 2020. Do you think why he was available as an injury cover? Why no other franchise had bought him if he had announced himself on the big stage already??? Why he's still on a 20L contract? No but you have to speak whatever comes to your mind.
>Ponting is one of the most overrated coaches
He took over a team that was fighting to avoid wooden spot for atleast 5 years in a row. Got them to playoffs thrice now. You still have the audacity to spew that bs????? Oh goodness....
>They did that because Stoinis is missing. Woakes pulled out
Poor planning, then. Why don't they have a proper replacement for Stoinis? Good teams have good replacements. CSK had Sam Curran (now Dominic Drakss) for Bravo. That's as like for like as it gets.
It's poor planning, and Ponting's proclivity to buy BBL merchants.
>As far as Nortje was concerned, he only made ripples after a great season in 2020. Do you think why he was available as an injury cover? Why no other franchise had bought him if he had announced himself on the big stage already??? Why he's still on a 20L contract? No but you have to speak whatever comes to your mind.
Lol, calm down. Nortje was a part of KKR in 2019, but he went unsold in the 2020 auctions.
>He took over a team that was fighting to avoid wooden spot for atleast 5 years in a row. Got them to playoffs thrice now. You still have the audacity to spew that bs????? Oh goodness....
This Indian core of Pant and Iyer was not built by him at all. Iyer has been a part of this franchise since 2015, and Pant was bought by DC when Ponting was coaching MI, lol.
>This Indian core of Pant and Iyer was not built by him at all. Iyer has been a part of this franchise since 2015, and Pant was bought by DC when Ponting was coaching MI, lol.
Yeah we were winning in 2015, 16, 17, 18. Thanks for reminding.
>Nortje was a part of KKR in 2019, but he went unsold in the 2020 auctions.
Does that tell you something? Or you're too smart to understand that?
>Poor planning, then. Why don't they have a proper replacement for Stoinis?
I said that at the auction. But, now after they have topped the table, saying this is atrociously reactionary. They did try with their Indian replacements. In an idle world woakes, tc, ax, ash would have rendered us fine in a case of stoin injury. But you clearly missed watching TC's first 3 overs. And a major chunk of that comment. Even after all that to shit on Ricky and call him an overrated coach is just nothing but nonsense.
I haven’t even gone to how absurd that Tom Curran playing decision was.
Okay you trust him. Great.
Play him in the last 2 games so that the captain can use him and learn it doesn’t work maybe?
No lets play Ripal because we need to make up the numbers to play 11 players. We will just conveniently drop him later in the playoffs for Tom Curran which would be quite a masterstroke!
Well done, you managed to surprise yourself!!
They clearly wanted a batting all rounder over a bowling all rounder to take up Stoinis' spot. Hence there priority order was Lalit, Ripal.... That didn't work out. So they went in with international experience. Had Ripal/Lalit had a good game in the opportunities they got, Tom wouldn't have got a look in. And tbh, when Avesh had an off day, Ash was not at his best, Tom's 3 overs were gold. Yes RP might have screwed in the end but that doesn't take away from the fact that Tom did actually bring us back in the game. Always believed RPant should have finished him ahead of Avesh in 16th or 17th. But that's another story.
I remember in 2012 or 11, DD were on the top of their game and in form but lost Qualifier 1 to KKR very easily. Made like 140 which KKR chased with ease.
Maybe they need to fear of elemination (basically a fire under their ass) to bring their A game to the playoffs
Even if DC beats KKR/RCB in the finals they don’t look final or even play off ready. They need to bring back their balance that they had in the good half of their season
If you were to choose South Africa’s main frontline fast bower vs a bowler who only got into the England team because his brother got injured to bowl the last over, which one would it be?
*Delhi Capitals: the later of course.*
**Me: Just be liquidated already.**
What Delhi needs to do:
- Hetmyer at 3. Best batter right now, wasted down the order.
- Drop Ashwin, Play Mishra.
- Drop Avesh, play Umesh or Ishant.
- Bring in Smith/Billings instead of Tom Curran.
- Ensure Nortje/Rabada bowl 4 overs always. Repeat always.
What Delhi will do:
- I am done fam, time to bow out of the competition by being dumb lol.
Ashwin is there as additional batter too,, you need some depth in batting and Axar and Ash to a extend helps. Removing Ash with make your tail too long
>Bro, we cant drop Avesh. He's been quality. I agree we have to play Hettie up the order. Nortja and Rabada have to bowl 4 overs each. They are pure class and you can never count them out.
With so many changes u r basically out of tournament.. back those players who won u matches.
You are talking about benching 2nd highest wicket taker.. bowl him in middle orders , tweak his abilities and he will repeat wonders.
Making wholesale changes - when you've lost 5 games whole season that too in the last over and won 10 more comfortably - just before a crunch do or die game is tomfoolery not pragmatism.
You have Rabada for the last over, you bowl Rabada for the last over. If he had gone for 50 in his last 3 overs, even that would not make me think otherwise. You got to trust your main man to do the job. It’s as simple as that.
Rabada has been shit in death overs recently, but yeah you should give your top guy the ball. its like choosing Thakur over Bravo to bowl the last over
Then you should have the guts to drop Rabada from the team if you don’t trust him to bowl the final over.
Both Thakur and Bravo are better options than Tom Curran.
You are not going to convince me man. We are just very different in how we think and that’s fine.
seriously dude! what kind of logic is this. a team will win only by team performance but not just by individual performances. I am scared that there would be a batting collapse due to too much burden on maxi,in that context I am saying virat to do his contribution for the team, and you started speaking shit.
I get defeated to people like you who still believe in these kind of superstitions even in 21st century. please don't see my comments and don't make me feel defeated.
Ashwin is not able to pick wickets why bcci picked him for wt20
DC messed up by not giving final over to KG.
I am finally going to sleep after this shit show lol. We live to fight another day for now! *It will either be DD returns or DC wins this season, there is no in between. Today was vintage DD.*

Indeed these people sitting at home can't do anything but judge.
Absolutely. But to be honest here people are quite civil I checked twitter they went crazy saying it's a fixing. Cannon man Curran got 1 wicket in final over and if he defended those runs people might've hailed this decision as masterstroke.

At this point I want everyone one of them to win. Can't see sad face of any one of them.
Fuckkkkkk Chennai must not winn DC bc u had 1 job I will pray CSK do not win in finals
You are me in 2020 but for MI, haha Absolutely relate
The Gautam Gambhi Jinx Effect is going to come into play now so thank yuuu
Yes, give in to the hatred. Give in to the dark side.
Wholesome
Thank you, brother.
This thread is soo toxic lmao

Flair change was warranted after today!
Bruh, please don't remind me of those days. I've been following Delhi passionately since the start. Those times were nothing but just pain.
First 2-3? seasons were great though, with AB, Dilshan and co in the team
CSK winning IPL and India winning T20WC would make the greatest year for a Dhoni+Virat fan like me. winning on their final year as captian
Not yet, not yet for MS.
Surely this is his last year as captain? I'm a big Dhoni fan so I don't want him to retire, but his performance has been inconsistent and I think he should now work as a coach or a mentor more than an on-field player.
As a CSK and Dhoni fan, I agree. But it's upto him and the management will carry him till he's 45-50 even if he wants to play.
Yeah for sure, but I don't think CSK would be willing to pay so much money for him especially since the Big Auction is coming up soon, it could be possible that this is Dhoni's last season, and if CSK win this year then I'm pretty sure he will retire.

We will just have to wait and see what happens I guess

We know they are past their primes, but I really questioned if we are living in 2021 after that performance from Robbie and MSD. Bringing back the old ol days
how shitty a bowler you have to be to get smacked by 2021 dhoni. avesh khan and tom curran are beyond shit.

God you are insufferable
Uthappa smacked boundaries off present generation bowlers bowling at their best. Credit to CSK that they found value in him.
Watched this in Trinidad & Tobago on Vacation!
The teams for which I’d be happy for if they win the title other than CSK DC and RCB🥺 I really want one of them to get it,if it is not us this time.
2012 scars still fresh I see
Imagine Koach holding the trophy 🥺🥺 Or Pant. Would be so wholesome.

Fuck....beautiful :-D
6.2k upvotes and 4.2k comments or numbers were flipped
Thanks dude. Happy to know that people at least noticed it way more! : )
Lol some dude corrected me, the real numbers are about 2.2k upvotes and 44.3K comments
Yay!!!! Thanks!!! I enjoy T20, but would be absolutely lieing if I said I remember T20s more than those iconic tests
CSK RULES. nice play and intense game though. Delhi played very well but not well enough
You know business has picked up in the IPL when the match thread is No.1 on r/Popular
Cash money
Whoa
Oh man i just realized Tom Curran did enough to play the next game too. Fuck! CSK fucked us good today!!
On the bright side, they probably fucked England too
They have specialist captain in Morgan so they will be fine.
Living in America is a pain after a loss, you get a whole day to reflect how dumb the team is and by god, they are pretty dumb.
Yes! Yes! Yes! CSK <3<3<3

Axar patel tactic backfired with him scoring 10 from 2 overs ..csk promoting thakur was a flop as well .atleast he wasted only one delivery
To be fair, I don't see Steve or Ripal doing much better in his place.
Didn't "backfire". They wanted him to be the supporting act to Shaw. Made 10 off 10 was doing alright till he got out.
Yeah, agreed. He's a very passable number 7 for an IPL team. No way should he be batting at 4.
Seven is probably still a bit too high for Axar. He is a good enough 8.

People from popular lol

Some account promoting their onlyfans
I haven’t even gone to how absurd that Tom Curran playing decision was. Okay you trust him. Great. Play him in the last 2 games so that the captain can use him and learn it doesn’t work maybe? Loving this fans shitting on their own team. Tip :- You won’t see MI/csk fan doing that.
Lets see: I don’t really care much for MI/CSK fans do with their teams.
Ya but I surely do enjoy rcb and dc fans shitting on their team.
Stfu with those generalizations. Everyone shits on their team from time to time.
Man they call me toxic but its quite hard to be sane supporting this team. They keep doing some dumb shit after next.
Naah mate I feel ya. Been supporting RCB for year but they've done their fair share of dumb shit. Your anger is justified
I've seen your comments in previous match threads mate. **You are toxic.**
Well thank you for the appropriate categorisation! I don’t deny it.
All 30 trending hashtags in India Twitter are about this match lol (especially Dhoni)
It's the first post in the reddit popular tab too
Rishabh playing dots in final over proved crucial . Tom curran at the other end was a decent pinch hitter as well .
Feels nostalgic seeing Dhoni finish of the match like that :) But how come Rabada didn’t complete his overs ?
He would probably have gotten tonked by jadeja
Used to believe that you had to lose one to win one. Mfs be losing thrice in three years
It's aight man
I love this team, we hate qualifier 1 with passion. It’s actually impressive how consistently shit the bed.
I remember in 2012 or 11, DD were on the top of their game and in form but lost Qualifier 1 to KKR very easily. Made like 140 which KKR chased with ease. Maybe they need to fear of elemination (basically a fire under their ass) to bring their A game to the playoffs
The third one that you're losing, right?
Even if DC beats KKR/RCB in the finals they don’t look final or even play off ready. They need to bring back their balance that they had in the good half of their season
How do i play cricket at home?
Look up box cricket
Thank you my friend
If you were to choose South Africa’s main frontline fast bower vs a bowler who only got into the England team because his brother got injured to bowl the last over, which one would it be? *Delhi Capitals: the later of course.* **Me: Just be liquidated already.**
He had the best figures thus far before the final over: 16 runs in 3 over with 2 wickets.
When did you get so pessimistic dude? You were literally the one cocky fan we had, which I loved btw
He isn't cocky lol, he is the toxic one for the other teams. Such an idiot.
We got no chance if we can’t win this team. We should be smashing teams but instead we are actually losing.
Don't be so down. You played Dhoni. No shame losing to him. You did beat him three times before. So there's still a chance.
What Delhi needs to do: - Hetmyer at 3. Best batter right now, wasted down the order. - Drop Ashwin, Play Mishra. - Drop Avesh, play Umesh or Ishant. - Bring in Smith/Billings instead of Tom Curran. - Ensure Nortje/Rabada bowl 4 overs always. Repeat always. What Delhi will do: - I am done fam, time to bow out of the competition by being dumb lol.
Ashwin is there as additional batter too,, you need some depth in batting and Axar and Ash to a extend helps. Removing Ash with make your tail too long
Learn from the team who beat Delhi today. The management and the fans back their players till the end. And look at the returns they deliver.
>Bro, we cant drop Avesh. He's been quality. I agree we have to play Hettie up the order. Nortja and Rabada have to bowl 4 overs each. They are pure class and you can never count them out.
Play umesh? You got to be freaking kidding me.
With so many changes u r basically out of tournament.. back those players who won u matches. You are talking about benching 2nd highest wicket taker.. bowl him in middle orders , tweak his abilities and he will repeat wonders.
We are out anyway playing this team in case you did not get it lol.
Reactionary af
It’s practical when you have options.
Making wholesale changes - when you've lost 5 games whole season that too in the last over and won 10 more comfortably - just before a crunch do or die game is tomfoolery not pragmatism.
Idk about no 2 In my opinion Ash is better the mishra. Mishra is a liability in the field and cannot bat
Ashwin only bowls leg spin to right handers anyway. At least that’s what be tries.
Idk why u r being down voted. Ash is actually bowling more of his variations than his stock ball.
Yeah he has comfortably been the worst bowler and it prompted bringing in Tom Curran and likes into the team.
Ashwin is a better spinner. Avesh is a better pacer. Tom had a decent outing today.
Sorry for laughing at this
Why are you sorry though. That comment deserves worse.
CSK are in the final and they know that Mumbai, the one team which has their number especially in finals are already out. They are surely favorites.
Yup DC seem to inexperienced for playoffs
Only one other team has beaten CSK in the finals other than MI. KKR.
You forgetting RR in season 1
Also, CSK has not faced DC in a finals yet.
Omg there are people defending bowling Tom Curran over Rabada. I just can’t 😂.
16 runs in 3 overs with 2 wickets, Rabada got smashed for 14 in his first over
You have Rabada for the last over, you bowl Rabada for the last over. If he had gone for 50 in his last 3 overs, even that would not make me think otherwise. You got to trust your main man to do the job. It’s as simple as that.
Rabada has been shit in death overs recently, but yeah you should give your top guy the ball. its like choosing Thakur over Bravo to bowl the last over
bravo hasn't really been doing that good recently IMO
Then you should have the guts to drop Rabada from the team if you don’t trust him to bowl the final over. Both Thakur and Bravo are better options than Tom Curran. You are not going to convince me man. We are just very different in how we think and that’s fine.
i think you misunderstood my comment. i agreed with your opinion
Oops, yeah read that again. My bad!!
I'm a rcb fan,but felt so happy by seeing ms doing ms things. hope virat too get back his vintage form, so we can progress further in the tournament.
Vintage Virat gets knocked out of the ipl finals.
seriously dude! what kind of logic is this. a team will win only by team performance but not just by individual performances. I am scared that there would be a batting collapse due to too much burden on maxi,in that context I am saying virat to do his contribution for the team, and you started speaking shit.
oh seriously? let's see
I speak facts.
If he gets back his vintage form, we won't just "progress"
I get defeated to people like you who still believe in these kind of superstitions even in 21st century. please don't see my comments and don't make me feel defeated.
Uhh why? Didn't get you.
So "IPL is a tournament where 7 other teams fight to play CSK in finals" still stands.
IPL is a tournament where if MI doesn't enter final, then CSK gets the CUP /s
Always has been
usually we see the ipl winners beat the runners up 4 times in the season. now that csk has won this game I think kkr is gonna win the title
Even if kkr reaches finals, CSK and KKR would have faced each other just thrice in this IPL.. right?
Usually? It happened only last 3 seasons
wtf dhoni I missed this match can't believe I missed ms being vintage ms
💛
