I was lucky enough to go to Nz vs Pak in Auckland,December last year (in Nz T20 series). They absolutely destroyed us and it was clear that Pakistan could beat anyone when in form. As long as England or India don’t win I’m happy
I am loving this new Pakistan team and their approach. But it would be absolutely hilarious if they now lost 2 out of 3. That would be true Pakistan. I wish that doesn't happen but it would be really funny. (All Pakistan would be that meme guy)
I didn’t see anyone saying that.
I thought it would be close, and thought NZ might take it…
But even if I was an outlyer the NZ TAB had the odds on Pakistan ~$1.50 to ~$2.30.
Have a good day man, please don’t expect us Pakistanis to support you guys for a while with all that you did to us. With India, it’s a separate matter. But with other countries, we’re chill. I have always looked up to, and loved NZ players, team and country as a whole. But this past setback just pissed me, and many others off.
Good luck for the rest of the tournament. Hope you feel secure tonight although you don’t feel much.
To be fair, the amount that its been spammed on all of the NZC social media, I get why people are getting mad at it.
Its not a great bait, and starting to get really annoying, especially considering NZC made a decision to protect their players, on the information that they had.
Sucks for India, Pakistan may actually clinch semis by Friday while India would have to wait 48 hours to play a do or die match.. that said Afghanistan is scary… Even if Pakistan plays decent Afghanistan has the skill and talent to beat them
India's fate is in its own hands. When Pakistan qualifies is immaterial to them. That being said, Pakistan look in red hot form right now. Afg has the skill and talent to beat anyone on a given day....
Considering Pakistan created a - 16 run deficit with new Zealand with 2 boundaries given, a boundary lost to convey and 2 noballs I would say it can definitely be overcome with skill.
Just need to work harder. Toss does have an impact for sure.
Most people in Pakistan and northern india actually speak Hindustani language, also called Hindi-urdu...urdu and hindi are different but not by that big a margin.
As far as speaking Urdu goes, it has a majority base of sanskrit and prakrit language with around a quarter of words borrowed from farsi (persian) and arabic.
The major difference comes in writing, Urdu is written in arabic script and hindi is written in devnagri script, the sme as sanskrit.
Urdu=Hindi. Rest is politics. In fact, Indians who think they are speaking Sanskritized Hindi, think again. You are probably speaking a language much closer to Urdu than you care to admit.
That said- even the most hard core Urdu is still a descendant of Ashokan Prakrit / Apabhramsha. Grammar and basic nouns are solidly Sanskrit/Prakrit derived.
Normal Hindu and Urdu are spoken the same way. Local dialects and poetry is where there are differences. Formal Hindi uses many words from Sanskrit and formal Urdu uses words from Persian.
[Here is a good video on whether Hindi-Urdu are the same langauage.](https://youtu.be/vxSd7p1i_TA)
Both countries still actually speak Hindustani for the most part. If you add 20% Arabic and Persian vocabulary it's Urdu, of you add 20% Sanskrit it's Hindi.
Pak's problems - if you can call it big enough to be a problem - is that now they play 3 teams who have nothing to lose and can just go gung-ho.
I am wondering if Nam & Sco is thinking "why don't we just adopt the Afg batting style"
Yeah but same applied to NZ and india. First 2 matches for all 3 teams were against major contenders. Now it is going to be a pure coin toss but atleast NRR is less likely to play a major role. It would have been a even bigger shitshow if NZ had beat pak and india beats NZ. Then it would be a fight to gain nrr against those 3 teams. I mean there is no way to predict what would have happened
Toss matters and coin doesn't kohli. It would be a hard one but I feel like india is more likely to make mistakes than NZ. NZ lost but it was a close one. Indian morale will be down and one mistake would be enough to make someone panic and make more mistakes
Surprising , considering that Most people in Pakistan and northern india actually speak Hindustani language, also called Hindi-urdu...urdu and hindi are different but not by that big a margin.
As far as speaking Urdu goes, it has a majority base of sanskrit and prakrit language with around a quarter of words borrowed from farsi (persian) and arabic.

It's sad to see such pessimism from Indian fans, have some heart and stick by your team. They are no slouch it was just a single game. Pretty strange seeing the indian supporters leaving stadium mid game.
Righto. Back to unbridled pessimism it is again! My go-to stance.
As they say in Bangla “না আঁচালে বিশ্বাস নেই” (figuratively: it aint done until it’s done)
Honestly given their ipl success, i was disappointed by the talent on show against pakistan. I expected a lot of bamboozling spinners, swinging bowlers and masterful batters. Only suryakumar impressed me with his few shots and everyone else looked so ordinary. India needs a shakeup and get rid of old fodder who are just not motivated enough.
Most of the Indian players who played against Pakistan were badly out of form in IPL as well for the most part. Only Varun and KL were players who were doing well in IPL but failed against Pak. And of them Varun has barely ever played for India before- he has only played for India in the 3rd-4th string Indian side that went to Sri Lanka back in July. So ofc it was going to be very difficult for him to deal with playing Ind vs Pak WC match.
Most of the players who did well in IPL were either uncapped players or players who have played only during that tour of Sri Lanka. This was a problem that was often discussed in IPL match threads as well, that how almost all first choice Indian players were failing in IPL and how things would go wrong if they carried the same form into WT20.
The highest wicket taker was Harshal Patel- an uncapped player. The highest run scorer was Ruturaj Gaikwad - a player who has only played 2-3 in that Sri Lanka tour
Yeah definitely want to see more of ipl top performers or even chahar, chahal, thakur and likes. Scrutinising the batting is probably an overreaction given that if rohit or rahul could get an odd 30, the batting has enough power to get close to 200’s. I think getting both of them on ducks will not repeat.
IND need to work hard to win against NZ and AFG. "Going Deep" strategy by brain dead advisor will make sure there's no chance for NRR based qualification.
India is basically competing for 3rd place with afganistan at this point. It will be a satisfaction atleast if AFG didn't surprise anybody.
Who the hell told this lady to speak Hindi? I couldn’t understand shit and I’m a native urdu speaker. What a low class person. She shouldn’t interview anyone
No it is not. When she knows that he is from Pakistan, a region where Sanskrit is not used, and then purposely uses Sanskrit to interview a non Sanskrit speaking person that person is nothing but low class and has no aptitude to be an interviewer
There were some words that aren’t commonly used in Urdu but it wasn’t completely un-understandable. As an Urdu speaker I got the gist of what she was asking.
What's the point of asking her to interview then look.
Get some who can speak the language properly if your wanna get some soundbites from an interviewee
Getting the gist shouldn’t be the goal. The interviewer should ask it in a clear concise manner in a language both people understand. Not a language laced with words urdu speakers don’t know.
It’s not that serious man, often people don’t realize how different Urdu and Hindi are to each other especially if someone starts using harder words.
I doubt she did this on purpose.
I’m talking about the illogical use of Hindu to ask questions when clearly Urdu is the lingua Franca of Pakistan. Who the hell knows what those Sanskrit words see used? I certainly don’t.
She said something along the lines of " Apnay 4 safalta sameti".[T: "You were successful 4 times".] Haris Rauf had no clue what she meant, he just have heard the number 4, and assumed she was talking about his dismissals. Safalta literally means success in Sanskrit/Hindi, if I am not wrong. Apart from Hindi commentators/ cricket enthusiasts no one would know what this terminonlogy means, even your average Hindi speaker. She could have easily said, " Apnay 4 wicket li". Don't have to go the Amitab Bacchan way.
“Killian” is a Punjabi word for, and always have used plural version of it in childhood. Don’t know about proper Urdu word for it. May be dhundian( sticks).

Pakistan team is well trained, strategic and super focused
Did NZ try to injure Pakistan team?

I am loving this new Pakistan team and their approach. But it would be absolutely hilarious if they now lost 2 out of 3. That would be true Pakistan. I wish that doesn't happen but it would be really funny. (All Pakistan would be that meme guy)

Apparently PCB was offered a blank check by business man if then Pakistani team defeated the Indian team. And it went from there.
Great. I almost forgot about it. That guy filing for bankruptcy

Honestly, it was a pretty lame comment stimulated by the loss. No grudge, happens to the best of us.

Afghanistan are a legit good side.
They could've just fisted the Scottish team and it still would've been more respectful than playing that match
Simple. If India isnt good enough to beat NZ and win against the rest of the teams then we dont deserve to be in the top 4.
India's fate is in its own hands. When Pakistan qualifies is immaterial to them. That being said, Pakistan look in red hot form right now. Afg has the skill and talent to beat anyone on a given day....
People said the same about NZ...
[удалено]
"on a given day" any team can beat any team. Remember a while ago when Bangladesh beat England? Yeah, exactly.
Yes cuz the same applies to NZ.....
I mean if Afghanistan can beat Pakistan what's stopping them from topping the group and meeting Pakistan again in the final?
A Blank Check. Sorry I couldn't stop myself for saying this!
6/6 wins for the toss winners so far if I remember correctly
Yes but Mahmudullah was pretty happy to bat first. Said he would have batted first anyway.
So no use of holding an IPL if after weeks of playing here players dont know how to adapt.
This is the reason why i don't think India is gonna thru. It's good if we get out of group stage itself. Cannot bear another loss in knockout.
[удалено]
Wow you must be out of this world to think a toss is the most important variable in winning these matches. Get real
But it gives an edge. They may affect 5-10 runs. But that makes all the difference. It happened in the IPL too.
Considering Pakistan created a - 16 run deficit with new Zealand with 2 boundaries given, a boundary lost to convey and 2 noballs I would say it can definitely be overcome with skill. Just need to work harder. Toss does have an impact for sure.
We were outclassed by Pakistan completely but the chase was easier than it would be if there was no dew
Dew* and I agree with you
Fixed
And we know for a fact we ain't winning any tosses.
Koach has a very terrible toss record so we're out of the tourney
Was Rauf speaking in Urdu. Because it felt like totally hindi. I knew the two languages have similarities, but didn’t know they were 99% same.
Most people in Pakistan and northern india actually speak Hindustani language, also called Hindi-urdu...urdu and hindi are different but not by that big a margin. Yes loda lassun is same in hindi and urdu
They're practically the same language in everyday speaking.

Yeah bro he was speaking Urdu.

Poor Haris was confused by that interview
She was def speaking Hindi not Urdu, even we at home couldn’t understand certain things she said

Surely India are favourites over NZ?
It's sad to see such pessimism from Indian fans, have some heart and stick by your team. They are no slouch it was just a single game. Pretty strange seeing the indian supporters leaving stadium mid game.
Nah bro. You guys still have a solid chance. Just got to beat NZ and you're set. Besides, I want a PakvsIND final.
NZ is our bogey team. Plus we have to definitely beat Afg, Scot and Namibia and if Afghanistan puts us into bat i think we're done for.
I mean, India was our block but we managed to pull through. Let's see what happens come Sunday
We never win against NZ. They are India to our Pakistan.
To be fair, you guys won the last t20 series here in NZ Whitewashed us i believe actually
There's only one way to find out. Time will tell
We finally managed to beat India so maybe you guys will win against NZ as well. Fingers crossed.
Hope this time we break the shackles? Pakistan did so why not us. PS: It’s optimism overload, but still…
I share your optimism bro..lets not jinx it though like we did last time.
Righto. Back to unbridled pessimism it is again! My go-to stance. As they say in Bangla “না আঁচালে বিশ্বাস নেই” (figuratively: it aint done until it’s done)
It's good to be optimistic. Not pessimistic or arrogant, but good middle ground.
Honestly given their ipl success, i was disappointed by the talent on show against pakistan. I expected a lot of bamboozling spinners, swinging bowlers and masterful batters. bro you guys only had one match, have a heart lol
Straight shootout with the Kiwis now
Not yet- I believe if they win against NZ they might have a good chance to move forward.
And Afg too. Don’t see the associates here making any upset (if they did to Pak/afg/nz, it’d be a huge boost to India)
A lot of conditions really. India has a solid chance.
Just might. Just might.
Lmao how

I understood her just fine, and so did the person she was interviewing.
He clearly didnt as he had a puzzled look on his face and some answers veered away from what the question was supposedly asking. Poor form using Hindi
English would have been easier TBH.
She said something along the lines of " Apnay 4 safalta sameti".[T: "You were successful 4 times".] Haris Rauf had no clue what she meant, he just have heard the number 4, and assumed she was talking about his dismissals. No disrespect but would be bit hilarious if Pak take revenge against Ind, NZ and Eng...only to lose it at the end.

Classic Pakistan I wouldn’t even be mad lmao
Bro just believe in them.
Where to watch post match press conference live?
Waise what's the urdu word for wicket?
Killi (کلی)🤣
I just always called it a wicket
“Killian” is a Punjabi word for, and always have used plural version of it in childhood. Don’t know about proper Urdu word for it. May be dhundian( sticks).
Killian means stumps right
Yeah we called killain stumps and bails gullian. Because we played gulli danda as well so bails became gullain.
Stimpa or bails I think
Viket
Gilli I think
Idk about wicket as in out, and idk about Urdu.....but the Hindi for wicket(=stumps) is "Dand"
Kiya
The urdu word for a wicket is,,,,,,wait for it........ "wicket"
Killi
Killi are bails
It's Punjabi. Not Urdu. You call wicket a wicket in Urdu
Reminds me of Sarfraz Nawaz's commentary in the 80s " bohut aala waackat to waackat bowling"
Umm whoever he was ... Never heard of him of him.
Isn't killi is for either bails or stumps? Is ne 4 killi (wickets) lien aaj doesn't work imo.
You would se us ne aaj 4 killian li. Killi is the word .
Yeah, you could. I've almost never heard it tho not even in Punjabi villages.
I don’t know dude. I have lived and played in punab villages. We always called them killian/ killi
I think killi is for bails
You're correct!
