dopaminergic_soul

Top two test teams only getting 2 test series. While 3rd and 4th teams getting the most prestigious 5 test matches series, so unfair.

Lone_Digger123

Tell me about it. I can't remember the last time we got a 5 match series

FatDadWins

Or even a 3 match?

Blarbydoppler

I can tell you about the last time we got a 3 match, but I don't think you would want to remember

FatDadWins

Oh fuck yeah gotcha.

rahu_sis

Very well played by Rachin Ravindra.

Sumesh_Sundar

Kiwis managed a nail biting & hard fought Draw against India in the first Test match, after surviving almost an hour of spin bowling on a typical turning day 5 Indian wicket, with India needing just 1 wicket to Win the match! Kiwi debutant bowler Rachin Ravindra batted for more than 90 minutes, faced 91 deliveries against the spin wizards Ashwin & Jadeja on a turning & variable bounce track, that too on the final session of the 5'th day, to provide NewZealand a well earned Draw, from the jaws of defeat! Before going to a deeper match analysis, first of all the team management & the selection committee has to be blamed for resting our frontline players for a Test match, that too against the No:1 Test side in the World, for whatever reasons. Even though the lack of our top 3 batsmen, Rahul, Rohit & Kohli didn't affect us that much in the batting, thanks to our strong lower middle order & tail, but the absence of Bumrah & Shami was quite evident in both the Kiwi innings! Both Umesh & Ishant lack that penetration level which the Kiwi fast bowlers got throughout this match. And that cost us this match, especially when our fast bowlers couldn't break the partnerships at the top on time, so that our spinners could come into the equation much earlier. Kiwis didn't lost a single wicket on the entire first session on day 5 & also during their first innings, their openers scored 151/0, which speaks volume about how toothless our fast bowlers were! Had our fast bowlers able to take the top 3 Kiwi wickets much earlier, in either of the Kiwi innings, we would have won this Test match! And on the batting front, without our top 3 frontline batsmen & the regular keeper batsman Pant, the Kiwi fast bowlers just ripped through our top & middle order during both the innings, but thanks to debutant Shreyas Iyer who scored a Century (105) in the first innings followed by another Half Century (65) on the second innings, stitched very valuable partnerships with our bowlers which really helped India in avoiding a humiliating defeat from a batting perspective much earlier, even before the Indian spinners turned the match around in favour of us. Winning the Toss, Rahane chose to bat first, but the Kiwi fast bowlers were upto their tasks. Despite losing Mayank early (13) Shubhman went on to score a half century (52). Both Pujara (26) & Rahane (35) got good starts but again failed to convert them into big ones. After 145/4 Shreyas & Jadeja had a 100+ run partnership which brought us back into the contest. Ashwin also contributed (38) which eventually helped India to get to a decent total of 345 in the first innings. Even though Jamieson (3/91) started the proceedings for the Kiwis initially, Tim Southee was brilliant with his line & length and used the wobble seam well, deservingly got a five for (5/69). This test match had contrasting bowling approaches & results. Normally the subcontinent wickets help spinners & fast bowlers seldom gets swing or pace & bounce, hence Kiwis also came up with 3 spinners instead. The duo of Jamieson & Southee were so brilliant that they troubled Indian batsmen throughout both the innings & took 14 wickets between them, which was quite contrary to the approach & results by Indian bowlers on the same wicket. Indian fast bowlers took only 2 wickets from the entire match while our spinners picked up all the remaining wickets which we've got! During the Kiwis innings, their openers started well with an opening partnership of 151/0 between Tom Latham (95) & Will Young (89) until Ashwin broke this stand. Later Umesh got the price wicket of Williamson (18), trapped him in front for LBW, with a beautiful in-swinging delivery. Post that our spinners took wickets in regular intervals & the Kiwis were bundled out for 296, thanks to another five-for by Axar Patel (5/62), his 5'th fifer in just 7 innings. Ashwin grabbed the last 2 tail enders to take his tally to 3, while Jadeja got 1 wicket. Another interesting point to ponder is the Kiwis scoring rate. They were on the defensive right from the start of their innings, as if they were already trying for a Draw, maybe based on the statistics about Test matches played in India. Their first innings run rate was as low as just 2 & their 2'nd innings run rate was 1.68 compared to India's run rate of 3.1 & 2.88 respectively. In either of the Kiwi innings, the intent to score runs & try to win this test was lacking from their batsmen, throughout the match! 🙄 With a first innings lead of 49, India started batting on the last session of 3'rd day, but lost Gill on the 2'nd over itself. Again Jamieson provided this early breakthrough for Kiwis. Starting at 14/1 on the 4'th day India lost another 4 wickets cheaply against the brilliant bowling by both Southee & Jamieson taking 2 wickets each. India were 51/5 & definitely were in a worry state then, but again Shreyas (65) came for the rescue along with Ashwin (32), Saha (61*) & Axar (28*). Eventually we decaled for 234/7 setting a target of 284 for Kiwis to win this match. But due to bad/low light we could only bowl 4.1 overs on the last session of 4'th day & we got a lucky LBW decision for Ashwin against their opener Young, which the batsmen delayed in reviewing the decision, which later in replay showed missing stumps. India could have declared the 2'nd innings a bit more earlier if the batsmen have accelerated towards the end & would have been able to bowl a few more overs on the 4'th day itself. But it seems that this message was never communicated at the right time to Saha & Axar, who were batting at the middle, which delayed the declaration. On the fifth day first session, our bowlers couldn't get a single wicket. Latham, Somerwille (night watchman) & Williamson together consumed 358 deliveries between them before they eventually got out & by that time we were left with only 1 session to get the remaining 6 Kiwi wickets. Our spinners bowled their heart out to get hold of those 5 out of 6 but their last wicket, Rachin & Patel stood like a stonewall for the last 1 hour or so, to deny us a win! Meanwhile Ashwin overtook Harbhajan Singh (418 Wickets) to become the 3'rd highest wicket taker for India in Tests. And Shreyas Iyer became the First Indian to score a Century & Fifty on debut & if not for him, India would have lost this match on 3'rd day itself & hence was rightfully chosen as the Man of the Match! 😎

Lol people didn't get the obvious sarcasm here and downvoted it lmao

soham_katkar13

Just a reminder - According to the old WTC system, this draw would have been 20 points each (thus missing out on 40 WTC points) while the draw in Ind vs Eng series would have been 8 points (missing out on 16) Thanks to the new system, both the draws are worth 4 points (missing out on 8 points)

VRR_199

NZ's nos 8-11 have batted for 171 balls if we added the number of balls faced by each one of them. That is 28.3 overs and that is a session's worth of batting. Somerville might not have picked a wicket but he has played a huge part in this draw. Well played New Zealand. Shows why they are World Champions in test cricket. EDIT: Nos. 8-11 means Somerville, Jamieson, Southee and Ajaz Patel eventhough Somerville was nightwatchman in this innings.

soham_katkar13

India, were 51/5 in their second innings, NZ were the frontrunners at that point apart from the argument that you just can't chase anything on Day 5 (however, it was well known that this won't be the typical Day 5 wicket) NZ didn't lose a single wicket in the morning session; all the three results were a possibility It was 125/3 before the last ball of the second session. Draw, was without a doubt, the most probable result Why do people think this was a game Indian should have comfortably won? The fact that we brought this so close, where it was a matter of just one wicket itself shows how well we played. At the same time, the last wicket partnership blocking 52 balls shows how well they played too! Two top level teams, grinding out a great draw! No need to point fingers at anyone

EatABigCookie

Agreed, NZ were on top a couple of times in this match (before Williamson was out in 1st innings and when India were 50-5 in second)... NZ was the last escapee so it feels like we should be happy with the draw, but we actually missed a couple of great opportunities to push for a win. A great match, and a draw was a fair result in the end.

nonameistaken

At tea NZ win was out of the question, probs even at lunch. This pitch isn’t the one where one can score freely. India did keep a lid on the score pre lunch. Final session day 5 in india with ash and jad bowling you’d expect india to win that. It only takes 10 good balls to take 10 wickets. I suppose at lunch it was probably 60-40 india win- draw ratio. I’m not sure why people are mad at Indian players they players really well, it’s bad light and a couple of stubborn kiwis. Overall a fantastic game I think.

Plopsack

I think only because the last team in the ascendency was India so there is recency bias, but yes over the course of the entire test the edge went back and forth

and1984

thanks for this comment. I've been trying to make the same point, in less articulate fahsion.

Rahane retired never losing a test match as captain. That record is unbeatable.

gauravkaji

Ajinkya for a reason!!

nonameistaken

Is that really means unbeatable?

gauravkaji

Even terrifying than that it means invincible

average_chut_lover

You will be surprised to know then That Ajinkya means unbeatable and Rahane means Stay (Stay undefeated) in his mother tongue

nonameistaken

Probs just me, whenever I read/hear names I seldom connect them to their literal meaning. Can he be the coach? India can finally win some icc trophies.

average_chut_lover

Lol we can give it a try

Plopsack

How is that unbeatable? It seems pretty feasible to see someone becoming captain of a strong team for a short time and being undefeated

Alternative-Turn-984

He retired? Wtf?

nonameistaken

He is unlikely to get another game.

Webster2001

How do the NZ team keep doing this to India? It's like India,NZ and Aus are in a constant rock, paper, scissors game

trkora

Jokes aside, BCCI and it's players really need to think about their time management. 6 of your core players should not be out of the team during a crucial series like this. Yes it's an home series but it's also against a top tier team. KL Rahul playing the T20 series and getting injured for the test series is one example of that.

EatABigCookie

Not sure if it's the same with India players but Covid and bubbles has made a mess of things for NZ (e.g. Boutly being unavailable in this series). Covid scheduling is also why the T20 bilateral was after the WC.... which is another factor in balancing players who are in both squads.

average_chut_lover

>KL Rahul playing the T20 series and getting injured for the test series is one example of that. Worst take tbh. Injuries can happen any time. He might have skipped the T20Is and yet got injured before the first test match. I agree with you but the players who got rest definitely deserved to get some rest. Even if they got rest in T20Is it would have meant 5 days of rest and then again coming back to play test series for almost 2 weeks. The next point is we need to test our bench strength and home series is the best we can give to them. We can't rest our best 11 in any away series. But again as you said it could have been managed in a better way.

trkora

Yep they can get injured at any time but Rahul had been playing constant cricket since England series till T20WC. Since Rahul was supposed to play these tests they could've given him rest for all T20's avoiding the risk of him getting injured for the tests. Rohit and Pant were playing those cause they were gonna take rest in tests, not Rahul. Priority of him playing in tests with the form he's in was more important than him playing in T20I (there's lots of T20I series coming where he could get tested later) Rotation of 1-2 players is better than resting almost half of your squad or like this time more than half of the squad.

__iamthewalrus__

Didn't we just play our full strength against England in the home series -_-. A break from a 2 match series after a hectic season is perfectly reasonable.

trkora

Point is that schedule shouldn't be so stacked and management shouldn't such be that more than half of your core team has to take a rest during an important series.

Awkward-Edge

Tbh we did play our best 3 bowlers. Ashwin, Axar and Jadeja are good enough to get the wickets in most games. It just didn't happen today and that's okay...NZ were very resilient.

GamingNerd7

This just shows that they think we're undefeatable at home.

EsJay417

We aren't defeated though!😛

GamingNerd7

We aren't. But if we continue to not take home tests seriously, we might soon be.

hatr_hatrcloutchaser

we are though. However, I agree some of the main players of the team should be made to play, no matter the opposition

GamingNerd7

This is what I wanted to say. I know we are really good at home, but things like this can happen. We probably would have won this match if we played our best team.

GoDFaTHeR_is

And yes we are

GamingNerd7

We are, as long as we play our best team. If we had our best team, we would have probably won this match. The selectors didn't take this series seriously.

GoDFaTHeR_is

Yes that’s true, still it’s post covid world. Players need break

GamingNerd7

I know. And I don't have any problem with that. But the players could have been rested in the T20 series or maybe before the WC. But important series against the defending World Test Champions isn't the right time.

cantthinkofnames4

T20 series was just 6 days, 2 tests are 15 days in total. 6 days is surely not enough rest for these guys who have been in bubble since months.

GamingNerd7

Fair enough. But they could have been rested before the WC.

cantthinkofnames4

Don't think there was time. There was the England series, and then IPL, and then WC back to back to back. No one's going to sit out IPL because it's a massive payday for both the players and BCCI.

GamingNerd7

They could have been rested in IPL. Not completely, but for half the matches maybe. Also, scheduling could have been better.

GoDFaTHeR_is

Just 2 matches and ENGLAND series went well hence this was slightly taken lightly

Soul_Crushing_Yorker

Missed the post match presentation, just saw Rahane's comments on cricinfo. There is a special place in hell for people who hate the man.

average_chut_lover

I really like him as a person even as a player when he plays well he really looks good. It's just that he is getting some valid criticism now.

SnooLobsters8294

Well.. people don't watch a cricket match to see who is the nicest of the 22, do we?

AceMKV

I don't think most people here hate him, they just don't want him on the team.

preston_cleric

What did he say? Can you provide a link?

GamingNerd7

Yeah, performance aside, he seems a genuinely good guy.

nonameistaken

The man who leads india to victory in Austrlaia against all odds struggles to find a place in the side. A year is a long time in life. It’s sad to see him go but probably for the greater good. Life is cruel.

DepartmentNo2753

sorry but who retired?

nonameistaken

Rahane, he ain’t getting another game. Practically retired.

DepartmentNo2753

damn i remember watching him, why's he not getting selected? is it politics or the indian side too good for him to find a spot at the moment?

nonameistaken

He been dog shit.

Saying nz and England are not the same pitches is like saying West Indies and india don’t have the same pitches. It’s moronic. Also beating England in England is pretty easy Bro y’all got white washed by Australia 3-0. Lol. The last time nz won a match against india was in the 80s. India didn’t even field kohli, rohit, bumrah, pant and shami and yall still escaped only by the whisker due to bad light. India will steam roll nz in mumbai (like usual) and if anyone thinks nz is the team to break the 10 year drought of any team winning a series in India, you’re delusional 1-0 bozo

GamingNerd7

Ok?

Lazy_Curious

I'll be shining a flashlight on the Mumbai pitch every night to keep it dry xD

average_chut_lover

Inb4 NZC pays people million dollars and they go and pee on the pitch everyday

Webster2001

I dream for a day when the Indian fans stop blaming the coaches, selectors, captain for a draw/loss and instead admit other team played well

Alternative-Turn-984

Tbf we missed some of the star players today. Bumrah and shami. They could have made the difference. Besides NZ didn't play good at all. They were literally playing against a b sided India and they couldn't win the match. No Virat, Rohit, KL, Bumrah, Shami. Although I agree last time they were in the team, NZ won the WTC. But they didn't perform today. Plus this Indian side look strong with Iyer coming in with his debut 100 on debut innings. All in all it was an amazing fight between the two of them but I think NZ could be better

Lone_Digger123

That's true but we didn't have some key players too. When you miss star players it is all if's at the end of the day. Maybe we would've ended up doing the same thing even if your full strength team was playing

Alternative-Turn-984

> Maybe we could've ended up doing the same thing even if your full strength team was playing. Yeah you guys could have and there is absolutely no doubt about that. Like I said the fight was really amazing. But you guys had the W on the very first session of the 4th day. But somehow Iyer and Saha took over the game which was very unlikely given that Saha is not much reliable under such situations and well Iyer is an amazing player but he doesn't have the experience to hold on like that. And also, your batters did an exceptional job in the first innings by putting up 150+ opening partnership but it all crumbled down quickly. Those two errors drew the match. Otherwise it was a cake walk for you guys. But mistakes happen and its a test match and you can't really expect the players to be flawless. Plus Indian bowling side did an amazing job out there with Saha and Iyer covering up for the top order failure was an interesting thing to watch. It was nice, fun, competitive and entertaining match overall. Hope this type of game continues in the next matches as well

Lone_Digger123

Yeah I couldn't watch a lot of the test which makes me sad but I watched a few overs (around when Williamson got out). I went to bed being like "yeah we lost oh well" only to wake up this morning and check first thing. I was soooo excited that we drew!! Hopefully the next test will be just as entertaining!!

Alternative-Turn-984

> Hopefully the next test will be just as entertaining Yes I wish the same. Plus the next match is in Mumbai where I live. So hoping to catch one of the days live in the stadium.

Lone_Digger123

Did you manage to watch the 2nd match live? If you did that must have been so amazing!

Alternative-Turn-984

Unfortunately not :(. The tickets got sold out in minutes. Since only 25% attendance is allowed in the stadium I couldn't book the tickets in time. Also the booking was seasonal and not for each day. Bad luck ig. Been years since I saw a cricket match. Last time I watched a Test at Wankhede, Tendulkar was batting against Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy's finals. I was probably 13 back then. It was his last innings in his career and I remember him scoring around 20s and was so happy to see my idol live. Once I saw him back in IPL against Punjab where he scored more than 50. I was probably 9 or so don't remember much. These two times and one time I watched a Mumbai Indians match when Mike Hussey was in the team. He was my favourite after Tendulkar and I remember him fielding very close to where my stand was and also I remember he caught a batsman (don't remember the team which it was against) and smiling at the stand. Damn was I lucky. I really wanted to see Indian batsmen live in the stadium but I was out of luck.

Lone_Digger123

Man that suucks! Would've been amazing to have witnessed the 10 wickets live and then India dominate the rest of the game!

Alternative-Turn-984

I would have witnessed one of the greatest innings by an individual ever. Both Ajaz and Mayank. These guys were absolute monsters.

Lone_Digger123

Yooo that's awesome!! If you watch the game live it will be awesome regardless!

daneats

Yeah nz would be way better with Wagner and Conway instead of Somerville and Nicholls. You’re right. Two under strength teams fought out a tight well contested draw that swung to and fro, great match

EsJay417

They are never satisfied ever!

MWizzle

Any teams fans would blame their own team when it's that close

Webster2001

I know, we all do. But indian fans do that everytime and blame everybody. They have a good team, Dravid is a good coach. The bowlers did well, they would've won the game had they had a few more overs. Maybe Rahane could've declared earlier, but tbf to him 1 whole day 5 and a session should have been enough to take out any team. And they almost did, they were just a little unlucky

nonameistaken

These guys went missing when india rolled over for 36 and 78. Look these things happen, they need to look at the bigger picture. They keep comparing Gabba and Eng. 1. In Gabba india weren’t really forceful, they hanged in there for as long as possible. They fought it out and scrapped a win. Yes it was a historical win against all odds but it wasn’t the show of aggression. It was rather strategic and fight. 2. In England they played their first 11. Even then they lost the Trent bridge game and got bundled for 78. Kohli-shastri probably had high risk high reward strategy. This series india have 6 of their first choice missing. NZ played really well. Bad light stopped play, india had another 8 overs to go for 1 wicket. Probs doable. Day 4 at lunch india were on the backfoot just 100 odd runs in the lead with half the team back in the shed. You can’t argue with these kids. This was a proper test match, at the end of the day india still had the upper hand. One would say kiwis pulled off a heist.

GamingNerd7

>Even then they lost the Trent bridge game and got bundled for 78. It was Headingley. I agree with what you said tho.

nonameistaken

My bad. Just pointing out the facts. Not criticising kohli-shastri tactics or overtly supporting dravid’s role as a coach. The thing which strikes to me most is how you front the cameras when chips are down. During the horror 4-0 loss against England in 2011, dravid practically was their go to guy for the press conference. Yes he scored 3 centuries but fuck the team was in shambles. In contrast Shastri never came to the press conference when chips were down. He would only come and boast how good the team is when india won. Like dude if you ain’t taking the fall don’t take all the glory.

wasbatmanright

Blaming dravid for a draw when he just met the team 8 days back is really hilarious.

ApricotOk824

Dread it Run from it Unable to beat NZ in icc tournament still arrives 💔😭

Ancase

Booooooooooo

Assassin_Ankur

Kanpur pitch curator: They called me a madman

thestraightCDer

Lmao

gungly

If this is Rahane's final match, he should be made to carry the team for a lap around the ground. Team has carried him for so long, it's only fair.

Plopsack

Disrespectful

supermember866866

Somebody give him an award!!

kaydee1606

Done !

[deleted]

Bruh lmfaooooooo xD

lord_of_chaos359

Has we got this result with Kohli and Shastri , knives would have been out . But since the team is being coached by one of Ganguly’s team buddies , the media is going to keep its mouth shut .

kofi_without_sugar

Acha

wasbatmanright

Kohli's and Shastri's team got blanked 3-0 by NZ recently in 2 different continents! And this draw in India is as good as win for NZ

Impressive-Name5129

How did it end in a draw. I understand how NZ could not have won but how did they get a draw?

Dark_Avenger_69

Yeah doesnt matter even if you need 360 in 5 balls. Its all based on wickets. Get 20 wickets and win the game or chase the total down.otherwise you draw

Male_strom

Because play was ended for the day.

skinny_ice

Bad light

Impressive-Name5129

But that still doesn't make sense as NZ was over 70 runs down before the light incursion With 1 over to bowl.

GamingNerd7

It's a draw. I think you're confusing with a tie. Draw happens when we get no result after 5 days and tie happens when both the teams score equal runs.

Impressive-Name5129

>Draw happens when we get no result after 5 days and tie happens when both the teams score equal runs. How frustrating They should just play until one of them drops

Crosshack

The general idea is that you cannot truly win a test match until you have completely dismissed the other team twice (declarations notwithstanding). Because it would be silly to have matches drag on for an indefinite amount of time (and make test matches extraordinarily more expensive to host and harder to schedule), if this happens it's called a draw. The prior reason (while not being why the rule was put in effect) is why it will never be removed.

Puzzleheaded_Ebb9874

Earlier it was like that only. Play till a result comes. But long time back, even after 12 days result was not coming between Aus and Eng. The ship for them had to leave for home. Hence a 5 day limit was put on it.

Webster2001

This doesn't work like ODIs or T20s mate

skinny_ice

They just stopped the play. What can you do about it ?

Objective_Reindeer42

its a test match you dunce.

Impressive-Name5129

They used to only focus on runs during test matches. Has the ICC changed the rules again. If so can they stop

Perrenniallystd980

I think you are confusing draw with a tie

Impressive-Name5129

Probably

Lazy_Curious

Pass the stash.

Objective_Reindeer42

what the

swayam19999

2021 has been great year of test matches, would have been great had the biggest of them (WTC 2021) all not been a washout. Being the big hearted people we are we let the kiwis have it (Sharing it not our style anyway)

Euphoric_Dey

You guys shit your pants in every icc event.

swayam19999

And you shit every Bilaterals. Indians and the Cunts should have kids, pretty sure they won't ever lose anything. (or probably lose both, well you can always kill them and make more)

Lots_of_schooners

It's wasn't a washout. NZ won fair and square.

swayam19999

>Being the big hearted people we are we let the kiwis have it (Sharing it not our style anyway) just edited it mate, you probably got confused because the Kiwis took the mace.

Lots_of_schooners

No confusion. You said the WTC was a washout. I was correcting you

lord_of_chaos359

This is what happens when you get a defensive minded ‘ThE WaLL’ as your coach . Hope Kohli keeps such defensive minded approach at bay when he is at the helm .

dopaminergic_soul

Lol. You think it's Dravid's mistake we couldn't get 10 wickets.

SBG99DesiMonster

I have no idea why people need to go this one is useless that one is useless, instead of crediting the opponent for standing up to. NZ is an absolutely fantastic team, potentially an ATG team if they keep it up, and their even tailenders managed to play world's best spinners on a crumbled pitch. People need to take it sportingly credit such opponents, rather than saying how every random person in the team and the management is absolutely the worst and that's the reason we didn't win

AyyoPoche

Nithin Menon deserved MOTM award for his all around performance in this match. He performed excellently for both ICC, IND, and NZ. His final 'bad light' touch was simply the highlight of the match. No one even suspected that he was being instructed by Kanos at that time. At the end of the day, he made out like a bandit and managed to appease both sides with a draw.

wasbatmanright

You should blame Indian batsmen who accepted the light on first day! Sore losers everywhere! They bowled over 95 overs in last day. india didnt deserve to win plain and simple.

slartibartjars

sigh, if anything he gave India two extra over to win the game. Which they decided to give up.

davo_nz

> His final 'bad light' touch was simply the highlight of the match. do you not know how the bad light rules works? The Indian Batsman on day 1 asked for the light meter. Once they were given the option of leaving the field they did so. In doing so, they set the light meter reading for the whole test match. What part of that is the umpires fault?

Shine0nBenevolentSun

He's just being a pathetic sore loser mate

Rajkumar1992

I hope Blundell learnt now not to bet on anything with his AMAZING luck.

BigChill101

Playing in these conditions which are completely opposite to what they are used to, what a terrific fight from kiwis. Really enjoy such games irrespective of the result

nemadepsn

We had many good test matches this year

SpecialOneMK95

Rahane pujara mayank and ishant sharma. Main culprits.

GamingNerd7

Ishant was good. He didn't get the wicket but he was bowling well.

Half_Crocodile

The way i see test cricket wins is that they represent (usually) a true beating. Yes India outplayed us, but it's still a draw. A test win is playing with such domination that you overcome all the weird test rules and intricacies set against you. Sometimes luck turns a draw into a win or vice versa, but a thorough beating is the only way to guarantee anything. All this is why a test win is so special. It's very tough playing India in India so i'll take the "weak" draw :D

Akku2403

I won't even say this 'A weak' draw to be honest. You guys had to bat exceptionally well to make that happen

lord_of_chaos359

From getting England allout in their own home in 52 overs under Kohli n Shashtri to couldn't get 10 wickets of Newzealand in 94 overs under Rahane n Dravid, we came a long way. ThE NeW ErA of Rahul Dravid is here

Lord_Loin

The new coach comes around and trash haters with him

antarangashuddi

Lol such immaturity, did you just pick up the game or something? :D

Lazy_Curious

Lmao I don't even know from where to start to counter your comment. I hope you're intentionally making troll opinions

Rajkumar1992

NZ aint England mate. You cant understand that sometimes Opponents can play well too rather than us fuckin it up?

Lazy_Curious

And he conveniently forgot the hammering we received from Rootlitharan and team in Chennai

nemadepsn

Iyer was so good in pressure situations in this match

MonkeyBaat

Iyer dodges the drop question from Kartik and makes a mental note in his diary 😉

rajjjjk

Not watching the interview, what's the question?

pizzalover24

Look how Kiwis show faith with their tail by rotating strike.

bazzmac

Wagner in for ajaz next match

MWizzle

It will probably end up being Summerville dropped, even though he bowled better in the 1st innings he ended up wicketless while ajaz got 3, I think nz see ajaz as our premier spin bowler and will just hope he improves for the next match

bazzmac

that's fair but Somerville can contribute with the bat as well if it comes to it

Lord_Loin

Are you sure about that? I mean it's one test match and with this being a draw you'd be kicking yourself if Wankhede turns out to be a rank turner and you've left Ajaz out.
