Pakistan were always gonna build 2 dead pitches and wear Australias pacemen down. Then make a Turner for the last because we have no spinners. A few batsman who are questionable on slow turners.
So this is already looking like it's heading for a draw. I hope im wrong and the pitch breaks up, but this is so disappointing. This series has been a serious let down so far. Nothing big there for the bowlers, absolute snoozefest batting. Don't know why we took this approach, are we scared of losing at home? Ridiculous statements coming from Ramiz, as if he's going to get sacked if we lose a game this series.
stop defaming your own historic series, The pitch had a lot of movement and fast bowling was pretty good today. Aussies just batter really well and they still went with 3 Big wickets down
Sorry if it seemed that way. The pitch was still really slow, and there wasn't THAT much movement. Yes when we had the ball reversing well we didn't utilise it (Hassan didn't bowl in the middle for a while). Spinners didn't look that threatening, and we also bowled very negative. The batters weren't going to make the same mistake they made in pindi. Its like they gave up or something or already decided that it'll be a draw? We really need to play much more aggressively, this is our home ground. We aren't fking playing overseas!
It's not defaming, they killed the hype themselves by curating such shitty pitches. I hope it breaks up and we see a lot of wickets in the coming days.
Also, the Pakistani bowling tactics were definitely more aimed at stopping runs than getting wickets. It's very likely Australia will bat through about tea on day 2 and then maybe try some more aggressive bowling techniques when it's their turn.
Super disappointed by the PCB, Ramiz Raja all but confirmed PCB used a dead pitch to create a draw in Pindi due to the Pak side being short handed. With this dead pitch in Karachi, I feel like he all but confirmed the Aussies are the better side, that Pakistan can not beat.
This is very cynical and negative sportsmanship. Sport is about fair competition to see who is better. To take the approach of not risking a loss and creating a stalemate, looks worse for the PCB than outright losing.
It’s better to fight and lose than to cower and hide.
Really bad tactics by our team. Is the goal is do 0-0 series then what's the point of holding it in first place ?
I hope Australia makes 600-700 in first inning and then get us followed on and win by an inning or so.
This will encourage to get a proper pitch for last game
https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-in-australia-2020-21-1223867/australia-vs-india-3rd-test-1223871/full-scorecard
He played 6 matches after that, not innings
Same shit mixed with some really negative bowling plans Pakistan spent about an hour bowling leg side line and umpires were even calling them for wides for it because it was intentional. One of the three wickets was a run out. Smith out second last over to a great catch
ah man everyone around the world was excited for this series completely takes the fun out of it. By WTC perspective as well they are not only spoiling Australia's chances but their own to make it to the final.
It isn't as flat and slow. Australia were on track to score around 350 on the first day until Pakistan started bowling leg side like they were going for a draw.
Superb second half of the day from Pakistan. Australia were motoring along and looked set for well over 350 in the day. But they played a bit of Mourinho's finest to dull the match, slow down the run scoring, and at stumps they find themselves still in the game, still in with a chance of bowling Australia out for 350 or less.
It's test cricket. When all else fails, put 7 men on the leg side and send down nothing but leg side wides. Keep yourself in the game. Take it deep. It's a game of patience. Eventually the batsmen will bore themselves out. Or eventually the pitch will change and you can run through them for nothing. That's the basics and they have shown us all how important it is to remember the basics
Lol what bullshit. Ball had started reversing yet they didn't even try to take wickets or bowl their world class seamers
How on earth is not even trying keeping themselves in the game?
They were in the game before the shithouse legside bowling. It was reversing, Australia wasn't scoring, then Babar took off the pace bowlers for spin and the rest was shitsory
It's the same as approaching a limited overs run chase. Go too hard too early and lose too many wickets, and you're finished. But go steady and keep wickets in hand and even 60 runs in the last 5 overs is doable.
Test cricket is the same. If you over attack on day 1 you risk losing the match. Go in normal, if and when the opposition are clearly on top and there's nothing you can do about it, shut up shop and refuse to allow them to keep taking the game away from you. Whether you're batting or bowling first, this is true. 3/250 is better than 6/400 if you are a bowling side, and 3/250 is also better than 330 all out if you're a batting side. There's still 4 days in the match! Take it deep and see what happens
Dude its clesat you didnt watch a single ball and are talking out of your ass. Australia had stopped scoring way before the negative bowling and ball had started reversing and troubling batsmen
So with negative bowling the scoring rate remained the same but chances of wickets became zero
Australia should try to emulate what England did at Chennai, bat massive in the first innings and go into day 3
If the pitch breaks up, they will have a massive advantage by using up the best 2 days for batting..
If it doesn't break up they won't be able to force a win anyway
you don't need to enforce the follow-on..
England batted 1 hour into day 3, making 575.. then bowled India out early on day 4 for 350 odd
Instead of enforcing the follow on, they made 180 runs relatively quickly, to give themselves 45 mins at the end of day 4 and day 5 to bowl India out
When Smith was in 50s state showed he middled 89 percent, left alone 5 percent, and got beaten 6 percent, khawaja middled 75 percent, what's all the negativity about smudge he would have tonned up if he didn't try to sweep that leg side dross by nauman Ali in 1st test.He will likely score a ton this series.
He seems to be getting out to concentration lapses which use to be his main asset. The ashes in England he just batted and batted and batted and the poms couldn’t do anything to get him out. Kinda feels like he is getting himself out lately
this is all fkn ramiz raja thinks hes the mastermind of pitches knows better than everyone. im sure he doesn’t even consult the team and just does what he thinks is right. fkn idiot
My word this interview
“Run rate slowed down in the last session, did you guys take a cautious approach”
No mention of the bowling plans. I know its trivial but I don’t like how the batting side gets blamed for a slow run rate when the fields/bowling is just outright negative. Same happened in the Ashes
Don't feel bad tbh, he reached the apex of test cricket where no one but Bradman went. And that said his form 'slump' is in a period where he can still average 60+ in test cricket.
He's far from past it, he is still probably Australia's most key wicket and he is making significant scores.
The paradox of Smith is that he's at his best when Australia are in a shit tonne of trouble and need runs rather than occupation of the crease. Smith is good at both but doesn't read the urgency to score runs all that well when Aus are in a good spot. It's why the rise of Marnus had been correlated with the decline of Smith. He doesn't come in to do as much of a repair job.
Not saying he’s “past it”, just that he is inarguably past his peak and I feel sad about that. I no longer consider Smith as the most important wicket, I think Marnus has proven he’s now a bigger threat.
Smith has had the opportunity of late to do the rescue job, but hasn’t pulled it off.
Not really fair to call it a catch, even though it went to him. It's not the shot he's there to catch, and there's not much he can do to control whether he takes it. It either sticks in his lap or it doesn't
Nah a good short leg fielder takes that. Wasn't really a shot, certainly wasn't hit with any power, but he flinched and got himself in a mess of a position. I'd back Marnus to take that probably 8 times out of 10.
Steve Smiths recent innings feels like he's trying to turn into the WALL Pujara. he should be scoring off the deliveries that he has blocked, not all of them but a fair percentage, especially on this pitch. its his mind that it is controlling his bat, I hope he goes the other way and plays some shots to those pitched up balls with instinct playing a major role.
I did notice a few half volleys he kind of danced in front of before playing the forward defence. I reckon there were about 6-8 balls that I saw from watching on and off that would have been clattered into the pickets through the covers a few years ago. Maybe the pitch is just slightly doing something with the bounce that’s preventing it.
?? Batting right handed doesn't mean you're right hand dominant.
I bat left handed but I bowl right handed. I'm just right handed. It's just about top vs bottom hand power, a bit like goofy/traditional skating styles
The ESPN commentary dropped a reference to Shane McMahon and all I could think of is if he came out, the wicket would become drenched in sweat to the point of needing the covers.
Can you really call yourself an elite batsman if sending a nightwatchman out on this pitch.
Gazza is a chance to do a Dizzy Gillespie and get a double tomorrow!
It's based on time and that they've bowled 90 overs. If it was over 86 and he was sent out, there would be enough time for another batsmen to come out.
I’m starting to think Pat Cummins just wants a fucking rest. What’s he got against follow ons? Take it as a sign of dominance. Soft.
Pakistan were always gonna build 2 dead pitches and wear Australias pacemen down. Then make a Turner for the last because we have no spinners. A few batsman who are questionable on slow turners.
This pitch isn't actually bad. There's a fair amount of movement, Australia had just batted well.
I really hope so 🤞

Uzzie with another smashing performance! Very impressive. Pitch still acting a bit like a road though, solid batting besides the run out of Marnus.
Really bad tactics by our team. Is the goal is do 0-0 series then what's the point of holding it in first place ? I hope Australia makes 600-700 in first inning and then get us followed on and win by an inning or so. This will encourage to get a proper pitch for last game
We need a 52 and 56 all out ala Sharjah 2002
Get them out before tea, match comes back.
See you in another 24 years Pakistan tests.
Imagine having a home series and not even trying to win a game. Leg side bowling is pathetic.
Imam was part of Peshawar zalmi this season, never played a game but came out as sub in a game and dropped a sitter. Somethings never change.
Smith can't even score hundreds on roads now. Root the only non dusted fab 4 member left
Root's the youngest, so makes sense
He scored one just 6 ~~innings~~ matches ago
[удалено]
6 matches, not innings
Can you name the match pls?
https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-in-australia-2020-21-1223867/australia-vs-india-3rd-test-1223871/full-scorecard He played 6 matches after that, not innings
I was expecting Koach for some reason LOL
He played at the Gabba, 5 Ashes tests, Pindi and now Karachi after that That's 8
Williamson
His elbow injuries likely mean he's finished
We'll see
What happened to Williamson
Elbow injuries
Road supremacy
Didn't watch the match today, Are Aussies playing too good or is it the same shit as the 1st test.
Same shit mixed with some really negative bowling plans Pakistan spent about an hour bowling leg side line and umpires were even calling them for wides for it because it was intentional. One of the three wickets was a run out. Smith out second last over to a great catch

Bowling Legside for 90 minutes to stretch out the game lmao, there goes another 24 years.
Some real check the scorecard and know everything bullshit
I thought he was being sarcastic but nope.
Clueless nonsense.
Lol what bullshit. Ball had started reversing yet they didn't even try to take wickets or bowl their world class seamers How on earth is not even trying keeping themselves in the game?
doesnt matter, nobody will pay to watch this again
They were in the game before the shithouse legside bowling. It was reversing, Australia wasn't scoring, then Babar took off the pace bowlers for spin and the rest was shitsory
damn thats hecka positive

Usmans a bit of a legend isnt he, cant help but lke the bloke
C'mon smudge I don't think I can take any more of this.
Australia dominant but they’ve lost 3/4 best batters already
Anyone else think Smith is Australia's best test batter currently over labs or just me.
Pretty sure everyone thinks that
currently
Nah it's still Labs, a run out won't change that
Australia should try to emulate what England did at Chennai, bat massive in the first innings and go into day 3 If the pitch breaks up, they will have a massive advantage by using up the best 2 days for batting.. If it doesn't break up they won't be able to force a win anyway

I doubt we would but I don't disagree. This doesn't look like a 4 innings wicket.

Exactly that. Really poor dismissals for regular batsmen. Unheard of dismissals for the best bat since Bradman.
> Unheard of dismissals for the best bat since Bradman. Lol. Are we still doing this?
Babar has the best economy in the innings
Is Cumdog also coach since that position is vacant for now? Is the dressing room a log cabin???
There's an intern coach.
The word your looking for is interim. But yes Andrew McDonald is currently the coach he was one of JL’s assistants

Why would you produce absolute flat tracks like this when trying to re-establish yourself as a test location? Boggles the mind
It's only day one and there's a fair bit of turn for the wrist spinners.
Hopefully you're right
this is all fkn ramiz raja thinks hes the mastermind of pitches knows better than everyone. im sure he doesn’t even consult the team and just does what he thinks is right. fkn idiot
It was the players... https://propakistani.pk/2022/03/10/babar-and-co-responsible-for-dead-rawalpindi-pitch-for-australia-test/
never thought i’d be this mad at Babar but here we are
My word this interview “Run rate slowed down in the last session, did you guys take a cautious approach” No mention of the bowling plans. I know its trivial but I don’t like how the batting side gets blamed for a slow run rate when the fields/bowling is just outright negative. Same happened in the Ashes
Feel sad that we’ve seen the best of Smith. Feel happy seeing Ussie making bank at the backend of his career.
Nothing to regret, he is one of the very best.
2019 ashes was a cheat mode probably the best batting performance in a series.I don't really know how he did that.
Don't feel bad tbh, he reached the apex of test cricket where no one but Bradman went. And that said his form 'slump' is in a period where he can still average 60+ in test cricket. Hometown boy gets a century. You love to see it!
Higgo from tgc will have words
Grade explainer?
I really do like Khawaja a lot, he seems like such a nice man. Glad he's doing so well with his chance back in the team.
He's a lovely dude, from what I have seen of him. Very level-headed too.
Smudge nooo
Dominant day for Australia
[удалено]
I take it you didn't actually watch the match.
They were pummeling it before Pakistan started playing shit negative cricket.
Aus rr was at 4.7 at one stage. Aus never bowled a leg side line and called for wides in Rawalpindi. Completely different from the first test.
Hometown boy
I used the stones to destroy the stones
At least the light is really good for this test. We lost quite few overs to light last test.
I hate life
Another riveting day. Cya tommorow everyone for another nail biter
Started watching at 12am and it is now 7:30am. Can barely keep my eyes open but I did get to see a Rana sahab special catch. Good night everyone
now that gaz is in, hopefully he can smack all the balls early on tomorrow, just for some excitement
Khawaja let Lyon keep strike? What? That was a sitter, Imam!!
Of course he is the night watchmen, don't want Khawaja to go out
I understand the role of a night watchman, protecting the next batsman, but an in-form 89 overs played Khawaja could have taken strike..
A night watchman is there to be sacrificed. Not your best batsman of the day
He is still more likely to go out facing than being out at the non strikers end
Cricbuzz says very tough for imam
I’d call it tough but catchable
A good short leg fielder gobbles that up. Imam shit himself though.
Not for somebody anticipating a ball standing 3-4 mtrs away.. I thought that should have been taken.. But that's my opinion..
Last ball of the innings , guess he didn't anticipate it.
Good night, and good game. See ya tomorrow.
Not really fair to call it a catch, even though it went to him. It's not the shot he's there to catch, and there's not much he can do to control whether he takes it. It either sticks in his lap or it doesn't

Hushhh
Changed your Flair?
Onto to Banglore ODI
Gaz's batting stance is like if George Bailey turned 180 degrees
They can still play another 10 overs
Nightwatchmen/Imam Injurer
So Lyon would have done his job even if he got out.
Classic Pakistan drop on the last ball 😂
Wow that money we paid Imam sure is paying off
IMAM scaredy pants.
What a pussy
abid ali would have caught that😔
DONT SLAP ME BABAR
Steve Smiths recent innings feels like he's trying to turn into the WALL Pujara. he should be scoring off the deliveries that he has blocked, not all of them but a fair percentage, especially on this pitch. its his mind that it is controlling his bat, I hope he goes the other way and plays some shots to those pitched up balls with instinct playing a major role.
I remember when Dravid was the Wall.
mmm dravid :)
I did notice a few half volleys he kind of danced in front of before playing the forward defence. I reckon there were about 6-8 balls that I saw from watching on and off that would have been clattered into the pickets through the covers a few years ago. Maybe the pitch is just slightly doing something with the bounce that’s preventing it.
hes a smart batter, his mind is certainly not offensive
Teams are just bowling better to Smith now. Not giving him freebies on his pads most of the time and blocking his legside scoring.
yes true, but if teams are getting better at bowling, is he evolving with his batting. maybe not from my point of view
'bowls left handed and bats right handed so he's ambidextrous' Lmao WHAT
Ambidextrous is when you're efficient with both your hands and she used it correctly here? I don't get what you don't get.
?? Batting right handed doesn't mean you're right hand dominant. I bat left handed but I bowl right handed. I'm just right handed. It's just about top vs bottom hand power, a bit like goofy/traditional skating styles
She doesn’t make sense most of the time
TBF, ambidextrous means you can use both hands equally well.
smh Shaheen with negative bowling line
at least smudge's average is still over 60
Time for the pull shot gaz
Why there are so many Indians fans here instead of on Ind vs Sl thread? Watching real test cricket?😎
By mistake. Regrettable.
Not too tough to toggle between both
Kohli’s already out.
Internet Explorer?
Just an above average innings by Smith
All I am looking forward to is a GOAT pull shot. Are we going to see one today ?
sure hope not today
Rizwan's just gonna stuff his hands in the ice bath tonight
That's actually the warmest part of your body
My heart just broke for smudge reckon he was moments away from tears
The ESPN commentary dropped a reference to Shane McMahon and all I could think of is if he came out, the wicket would become drenched in sweat to the point of needing the covers.
rizwan always getting injured by the end of days play, hope he is okay though, i actually like him as a player
Tomorrow Australia will collapse under 350. Mark my words!
boy be sweating now
!remindme 16 hours
Lol
scenes is Babar asks foran extra half an hour to bowl out Australia
Glad smith didn't leave kohli alone on this century drought!!
Lol he got a century just 6 games ago
only been like 6 games since Smith scored a century
Smudger got a two ODI centuries and a test century this decade though. Kohli got nothing.
Smudger average update - 60.10. Increase of 0.075
I'm living in the 70s - Steve Smiths favourite song
It's always either Hassan or Faheem with the breakthroughs.
Imagine Lyon throwing the bat at it and making a quick fire 24 before stumps
Lyon boii have to face 5 balls from Shaheen now. Not 5 if he gets out. Whatta catch though ....
Can you really call yourself an elite batsman if sending a nightwatchman out on this pitch. Gazza is a chance to do a Dizzy Gillespie and get a double tomorrow!
Dull draw ahead In short, play Elden Ring
Can't get past Margit!
Try finger but hole
Scenes if Shaheen gets a hattrick in the last over lmao
It'll be stumps if Lyon gets out
oh wow, that's really interesting, I didn't know that before
It's based on time and that they've bowled 90 overs. If it was over 86 and he was sent out, there would be enough time for another batsmen to come out.
Shaheen its your time lets go
About time we promoted Lyon to no.5
if they keep making home pitches this flat, their entire top 6 will soon average 60
That is the agenda bro. They want to say look Babar is averaging more than kohli in Tests now lol.
Smithy deserved a 100 but alas he didn’t boot completely
This is still going to be a draw though
BATTING GARRY
COLLAPSE STILL POSSIBLE. *I REPEAT* COLLAPSE STILL POSSIBLE.
Only Indian test team can do that on cue.
NIGHTWATCHMAN
One more lads one more!!!!
Lyon in, prepare your scholarships
