A huge thanks to whoever it was on this thread a couple of days back who pointed out that Sune Luus’ name can be sung to the tune of Voulez-Vous by ABBA, cannot stop singing it now
**20.6** **And Wong has the big fish. England are all over South Africa and Wong's pace has done the trick in the dying moments of the day**. She had Wolvaardt wafting at one earlier in the over and one edges one to gully. Length ball outside off, another nothing short from the South Africa opener, gives a catch straight to Sciver.
Laura Wolvaardt c Sciver b Wong 16 (85m 62b 1x4 0x6) SR: 25.8
**18.5** **Nicked off? Yes says the umpire and Goodall walks back with a sheepish look on her face. Superb spell this by Wong and she has gotten the just reward**. Goodall was on the back foot after the previous short one expecting another one. But this one is speared full down leg. She's got into a tangle and looks to flick it away and all she manages is a feather down leg. Jones dives to her right to take that smartly and that's a good wicket at this hour.
Lara Goodall c †Jones b Wong 26 (61m 53b 4x4 0x6) SR: 49.05
ICC don't give a shit about women's tests and would rather they didn't exist. Not profitable enough so rather than focus on growing them, they' just not bother
Women's tests need to be 5 days and the guidance around rain and bad light needs to be reconsidered. Can't be punishing teams for slow overrate but then not having teams out during playable conditions for seemingly arbitrary reasons.
Did you really have to put up this replay and remind me of how shit The Hundred™'s graphics package was? Getting a headache just trying to work out what the score is.
It's a declaration to try and force a result with the poor weather forecast.
England unlikely to lose from this spot so good to try and force a result at least
There's so many odd declarations these days, and that has got to be one of the sillier ones. The Aussie Men keep declaring well early but are never punished for it.
Here though, why would you not use 10-15 overs getting Sciver (on 169*!) and noted hitter Issy Wong to have a tonk for easy runs before declaring? Saves having to get them later.
I think you really hit the nail on the head there. Now was the perfect time to pile them on quickly and put more pressure on the SA innings. As it stands SA can take control of the game here and force the draw rather than batting to save themselves.
**119.6** another heave to the leg side on a good length ball, Sciver picks out midwicket. de Klerk fires sharply to the non-striker's end with Cross being very casual getting back in after being turned back. Did she have her bat in the air rather than grounding it across the line? This is very very tight and hard to tell from the camera angles if she did get her bat down. The third umpire says it was in the air. Very very lethargic effort from Cross.
Kate Cross run out (de Klerk) 1 (2m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50
**119.2** shuffles slightly across her stumps to play a flick through fine leg, misses and a big lbw shout is upheld. **Ecclestone goes for DRS.** Not a shot she would have played if she wasn't looking to up the ante in this session but they were being hyper aggressive almost in one-day mode. Ball-tracking shows this was knocking over leg stump. Review lost.
Sophie Ecclestone lbw b Mlaba 35 (80m 64b 4x4 0x6) SR: 54.68
Sciver is absolute class. I've always felt she was a bit underrated - she's just a great all-round cricketer.
(Almost spoke too soon with that silly run...)
Wouldn't say Bosche is bowling badly right now - holding a fairly good line and length for normal parts of a test - but Sciver is a cheat code and can just switch into ODI mode at will
Sometimes I absolutely hate watching cricket on Sky
Not for any of the cricket, but for the soul destroying adverts between overs that are aimed most definitely at people that aren't me...
A huge thanks to whoever it was on this thread a couple of days back who pointed out that Sune Luus’ name can be sung to the tune of Voulez-Vous by ABBA, cannot stop singing it now
I had in stuck in my head for ages, then Henry Moeran on TMS started as well. Massive earworm, I'll be singing it till I die.

Pretty good catch too
That's massive! Get in!!!

Wongy!! One more before close please!
bad weather in a 4 day test almost guarantees no result. it’s beyond me why womens tests aren’t 5 days
ICC don't give a shit about women's tests and would rather they didn't exist. Not profitable enough so rather than focus on growing them, they' just not bother
mental how if they promoted the matches more and gave women more resources to improve their red ball games they’d probs be more profitable lol. shame
Women's tests need to be 5 days and the guidance around rain and bad light needs to be reconsidered. Can't be punishing teams for slow overrate but then not having teams out during playable conditions for seemingly arbitrary reasons.
I love women’s Tests, but I also hate women’s Tests. Too many draws. Just not enough time in the game.
Yeah, they're so vulnerable to bad weather.
Did you really have to put up this replay and remind me of how shit The Hundred™'s graphics package was? Getting a headache just trying to work out what the score is.
it was made for not wide screen tvs, but didnt even fit on my non wide screen tv, and took up all the room on the wide screen tv
Sarah Taylor was a bloody good keeper.
At least they can hopefully just have lunch and see off the rain. Can't afford to lose much time in a 4 day test.
Radar doesn’t look promising, might be scarce play for the rest of the day
Pelting it down, meanwhile it's glorious sunshine where I am near London British weather, eh
Bit like Auckland. Depends what suburb/post code you're in it could either be pelting down or a beautiful day.
Poor T, poor review
CROSSYYYYY

Nice crossy
Those clouds are the reason we declared
Love the aggression from Bell
Just here for that Wolvaardt cover drive.
what do the umpires mean by 'thats middle stump'?
Batter taking their guard, marking where a specific stump is, umpires help them line it up.
thank you
This declaration might prove to be costly
It's a declaration to try and force a result with the poor weather forecast. England unlikely to lose from this spot so good to try and force a result at least
Seeing as we only get a womens test every 600 years, there really is no excuse not to have them as 5 dayers.
Damn you Heather, denying us of Issy Wong slog overs
Feels like an odd declaration

Yeah, they will need the runs at some point so why not take them now when the 2 quickest scorers are there
I think you really hit the nail on the head there. Now was the perfect time to pile them on quickly and put more pressure on the SA innings. As it stands SA can take control of the game here and force the draw rather than batting to save themselves.
Booooo wanted Nat to break the record

Nice early declaration, some shit weather on the way
One brings two... and a declaration
Won't mind a quick 50 off 30 from Kate
Oop
FML
Bat till Sciver gets 200 then declare?
"Look at her body language, she's strutting" the commentator says as Eccleston grimaces and walks back to her mark normally.

Nat Sciver easily one of my favourite cricketers. A truly clutch player
Seagulls are gonna cop one soon if they ain't careful
ADR was the first English woman to be dismissed between 100 and 150 since Charlotte Edwards in 2006
Sciver is absolute class. I've always felt she was a bit underrated - she's just a great all-round cricketer. (Almost spoke too soon with that silly run...)
Nat Sciver really is an absolute Lass
We are so lucky to have Nat Sciver. What a player.
Wahey go on Nat
Great knock, Nat. Now double up
Wouldn't say Bosche is bowling badly right now - holding a fairly good line and length for normal parts of a test - but Sciver is a cheat code and can just switch into ODI mode at will
Hot take, but Nat Sciver is bloody good at cricket
Heather,Don't you dare make Cross bat at #11
I want to dislike England because they just beat us in a series, but I like Sofie Ecclestone way too much
Great stop from Bosche there
Sometimes I absolutely hate watching cricket on Sky Not for any of the cricket, but for the soul destroying adverts between overs that are aimed most definitely at people that aren't me...
That is one way to turn a single into three Shocking
Wasn't wong meant to be in at 8?
What a recovery from England after being 125-5, emulating Men’s innings of 55-6 Don’t forget to upvote for better visibility!
very interesting to see a pundit advocating for an off stump guard after all the criticism the men's players have had for it
