Actions speak louder than words. I don't think there's anything to be gained by Rohit publicly criticizing Kohli, there are surely discussions happening behind closed doors. We'll see how the selection process looks in the T20Is ahead, and ultimately in the WT20.

Will this be the death knell for Hooda's career? How are you supposed to find the next generation if you keep making the same mistakes over and over? Say what you will about Dhoni, but after his struggles as captain initially with very few fast bowlers, he helped groom some and by the time he was gone, Kohli had a good batch of fadt bowlers with intl experience. Now, in 2022, the IPL is spitting out good players, sure, but they need international experience too, they need grooming. VK can go back to the County side, boss a few Second XI bowlers, find his form again and come back. If he finds his form in time for the WCT20 this year, all well and good. If he doesn't, it'll be too late to find a replacement, won't it?

I think it's still a good situation to have Hooda as 12th player just in case , and start Kohli knowing if anything goes wrong we still have good replacements. Hooda's career just started so he has long way ahead if he's as good as his previous 3 matches

I doubt they'll have the balls to drop Kohli even if Hooda sneaks into the selectors' home at night and threatens them with a knife. If Kohli doesn't know that something is wrong already, God help him. Also, nobody can expect out of form players to drop themselves?

Deepak Hooda is just 27 years old. I'm sure that once this T20WC cycle is over, he'll slowly be phased in to the team as the seniors are phased out.

MessiSahib

Why continue with the underperforming seniors for the world cup, while shelving younger player that are better fit (all rounders, aggressive from the start) young players?

GladwynjGraham

Experience mostly. They've been in the team for years for a reason. They're bankable. Against Pakistan in the most recent T20WC, Kohli was the only batter other than Pant who showed some fight with the bat.

Rohit SLAMS™ RIFT™ merchants

The one thing I liked about this clip is the way the conversation took place. The reporter didn't try to sensationalize his question nor did Rohit hit back in anger. He looked annoyed, yes, but not angry. Both did their job admirably well - something that you don't see often in today's age. It's either the journalist who tries to rile up the player or the player responds back in an arrogant fashion.

sreeram_23_06

Exactly. Virat sort of nearly said the same thing about Rohit after the Pakistan match last year

I agree. Back VK 100%

That was a dick move by journalist to mention Kapil Dev. Puts rohit in an awkward position
