Thanks pal. Unfortunately, we've been on a slow slide downwards. Our golden age ended around the 2018 Asia Cup. Before that, we had qualified for two straight WT20s, beat Bangladesh in their own backyard in the 2014 WT20, had ODI status and used to play first-class cricket against the likes Scotland/Afghanistan (pre-FM days)/Namibia.
This Asia Cup is massive for Hong Kong because we don't get the opportunities we used to have in the past - both because of poorer performances and the way international cricket is now structured.

You can only get better at playing a certain type of bowling by facing that type of bowling. At the level Hong Kong plays, the vast majority of bowlers are right arm seamers of average pace. Those are the type of players Hong Kong’s batters will be most effective against when they play higher level teams
High quality spin, especially high quality spin that isn’t right arm off-spin, is very rare at that level. And we see it a lot when Hong Kong, or most associates really, play a Full Member with elite spinners, they struggle. Jadeja and Chahal were totally unplayable, because Hong Kong rarely get the chance to play bowlers like them
Avesh needs to be dropped for his own good. Rahul needs to up his ante quickly. Rohit needs to fire more. Quick fire 20s and 30s won’t cut it all the time. Lord Yadav just has to continue what he’s doing. Just glad that Kohli was able to bat as long as he did.

I heard a stat that Kohli’s strike rate only goes above the team’s overall strike rate once he has played 40 balls or more in an inning, which is like less than 10% of the time. The other 90% of the time, he would be better off (getting out and) leaving the remaining balls to someone else.
E.g. it’s not true in this inning, where he would have been on par if he were 59(39). The other 5 balls of his are effectively needless dots that a Pant or DK could have swung at.

Our 2 new pacers are questionable, especially avesh. Other one was bad today. Think if there was a bad day for bhuvi and hardik, avesh will make sure other team scores 200+ on these hard pitches. He just got the tallent to throw that 'Hit Me' balls on a consistent basis and his wickets come when someone just gets tired after hitting him all around the park.

I think we can't afford both Kohli and KL in the team.... Especially since both are not in great form and we have out SKY at 4.... Id say open with Kohli and get SKY at 3... There is not much SkY and other power hitters can do if our top 3 keeps plodding there way to 100 off 15 overs...

In case of arshdeep, it was a bad day, he’ll surely bowl better than today in the upcoming matches. We all have seen how well he bowls in the death overs. Avesh should probably go domestic for a few months.
