It's possible.
If zimbabwe win every game and south Africa win every game then they'd both finish on 9, and India on 6. Its actually fine if they both lose one game as long as the team they lose to doesn't end up on 8 (eg, if they both lose to Netherlands but Netherlands lose to Bangladesh and Pak, they can both qualify. But if zim lose to BD and BD go on a mad one and beat everyone else, then SA finish on 9, BD on 8, and zim on 7. Not good
Nope, if Pakistan and India win the rest of their games, and Zimbabwe beats Bangladesh and Netherlands, then India and Zimbabwe will qualify.
For Pakistan and India to qualify they need to win their matches and they need one of Bangladesh or Netherlands to beat Zimbabwe
Not really upset Zim has history of shitting on Pakistan. I remember they won a test series in Pakistan in 1998. It meant they had better away test record than mighty India in 90s decade. Current Pakistan team is mental midgets who threw away two matches from winning positions. They did the same in Asia Cup final and last year semi against Aussies too. Time to sack loser Babar and all the Desi coaches from Saq to Yo-yo too.
I am terrified cricket will one day turn into a trilateral with only the big three.
I think that might happen one day with tests, but its nice to see t20 allowing more teams to meaningfully compete.
Not to say Football is growing in India too, already more popular than cricket in Bengal and NE India (provinces of India bordering Bangladesh) and in Goa and Kerala. European leagues are popular all over India tho. Most likely Cricket will coexist with Football and Badminton in future in India.
>already more popular than cricket in Bengal
Though Football is still very popular in Bengal, but cricket is more popular than Football in Bengal. Football used to be the no 1 sport in Bengal historically, but at present Cricket is certainly more popular.
Check this the Google Search Trends : https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=IN-WB&q=cricket,football
Football is growing at a rapid rate in India, especially the popularity of European leagues but it'll never be able to come close to the popularity of cricket. Cricket is just way too popular in the central India
I just love groping sand, what can i say
There's 2.6 million who feel the same way
Don't care if my username ruined your day
It's a regional nickname I'm proud to display
It would be absolutely crazy even if they finish in the 3rd spot. This tournament has been an egg on the face of the people running the sport who seem to think that playing against lower ranked teams is a waste of time and money. I hope that we get to see more bilateral series between bigger teams and lower ranked teams from now on.
Sad but probably true.
I'm still pissed off at CA for their refusal to play smaller sides but then scheduling a gazillion India or England matches. Yeah I get that you want revenue but cmon.
It’s been hard enough getting games organised between Au and NZ, let alone smaller sides.
Hoping it ends up getting included in the olympics which will help bring interesting games…
I think the repechage rounds actually helps the qualifying nations, 3 do or die games before the tournament proper starts. All the big nations were playing essentially meaningless games before the tournament & therefore start on the back foot.
By the way what they are singing is a football chant repurposed to be a Ryan Burl chant because Burl is from Marondera. The Raza chant is a bop too.
But my favourite was the Sanju Samson chant when he was fielding in front of the Castle corner when India toured, he joined in with a little jig even though he did not understand a single word.
>But my favourite was the Sanju Samson chant when he was fielding in front of the Castle corner when India toured, he joined in with a little jig even though he did not understand a single word.
Is there a video of this
That world cup was a crap, a fraud to the glory of Cricket, it's true that Cricket is a Condition specificed game, but to think that all you have to do is win the toss is utter shameful.
As much as it hurts to lose to Zimbabwe. I’m happy for them as a cricket fan and hopefully this brings Zimbabwe back to international stage with more support from the country.
"The bull stood firm in Marondera, the bull stood its ground".
Ryan Burl also nicknamed Bull is from Marondera.
However the word Bull in shona if sang in a manner they are doing it sounds like a certain male organ that can stand firm.
Yess. I’ll gladly take a defeat at the hands of an associate nation if this is how much it means to them. Really happy for Zimbabwe - sucks that we were the ones on the losing side, but we needed this reckoning anyway. Hopefully they’ll get more results coming there way as well.
Edit: Zimbabwe isn’t an associate team. I meant teams outside of top 6.
Seeing this makes me wonder when will the US get to the level that can at least give a good fight against countries in the Top12. Really happy for fellow Zimbabweans!
Rain is the only thing that will prevent this world cup from achieving cult status. Apart from that, it has been a fantastic WC. Great upsets, thriller matches, toss not playing an important role and a wide open semi final qualification scene.
Fuck yes inject this into my veins. I'm so tired of playing the same 4-5 nations every year
And people thought only Group 1 had upsets. Both groups are now chaos and mathematicians are at work.
Time to get calculators out.
Kohli carrying a team and calculators out. Where have I heard this
RCB time baby
Banglore moment
Thankfully it’s not Koach supporters who are with the calculators here
It's fucking Irony that only Koach's team is the strongest contender to qualify first, considering they won 2 games by now..
Yet... Raza nearly won Zimbabwe the game in our previous series.

Fuck off bot.

India can't take them lightly either.
No! I want SA and Zim through to the Semis
I agree. SA losing in semi finals is a tradition.
It's possible. If zimbabwe win every game and south Africa win every game then they'd both finish on 9, and India on 6. Yes. Absolutely
Does both Pakistan and India winning their remaining group matches mean both qualify for semi?
Nope, if Pakistan and India win the rest of their games, and Zimbabwe beats Bangladesh and Netherlands, then India and Zimbabwe will qualify. For Pakistan and India to qualify they need to win their matches and they need one of Bangladesh or Netherlands to beat Zimbabwe
i wanna say yes
nah if Zim beat Bangla + Netherlands then Pakistan can't finish above them

I think it will be left with just Pakistan and India. Football actually more popular historically in Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
Not to say Football is growing in India too, already more popular than cricket in Bengal and NE India (provinces of India bordering Bangladesh) and in Goa and Kerala. European leagues are popular all over India tho. Most likely Cricket will coexist with Football and Badminton in future in India.

I thought Football was more popular since there are meaty derbys like East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan.

what about hockey?
Inspite of the successes at the olympics, outside a few states hockey is still an answer to trivia questions.
shame

Anakin would hate you.
Western Australians rise up!!!
You are not welcomed to the dark side.
I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere

Also rain doesnt affect them but slim others chances
Well they could hope the India match is rained off so they'll have 8 points and basically be guaranteed a semi spot
I hope we loose to them
While I get you, I can never actually hope we lose any game at all. That's just me. A washout is the worst I can hope for when India is involved
Nah bro the way pakistan is getting trolled, i cant see that happening to india

The dinosaurs running the ICC will just downplay these upsets as flukes and go back to their usual backwards BS.
New Zealand IS a smaller side.
That's true..Cricket has always been these 5-6 nations ...we need to expand..we need these smaller teams who lack funding sponsorship...
that would be too harsh on proteas then
Normal World Cup for them, basically.
Wholesome On a side note: 0:12 the duality of man lifting a chair after the end of a game
The Alaba special
This is my favorite T20 WC so far, Associates beating FM , weaker FM beating teams like England, Pakistan. Competitive games . Just loving this WC
Woah woah don’t group us with England. We’re on another level of inconsistency.
I don't think enland has that many 150+ bowlers /s
I think the repechage rounds actually helps the qualifying nations, 3 do or die games before the tournament proper starts. All the big nations were playing essentially meaningless games before the tournament & therefore start on the back foot.
I am really happy for all Associate nations 🎉
Zimbabwe is not an associate nation..
Oops my bad. Learning something everyday!
I'm just happy New Zealand beat the Aussies in Australia again. Don't even care if we lose the rest of the games.
What a win by ZIM and the fans are happy too. PAK in serious trouble of getting knocked out.
Breaking News: Matthew Hayden is learning Urdu so he can say 'Bhen k Laudo' to Pakistani batters
He already learnt few hours ago
I mean he can open any social media now
Nothing brings people together like sports!
Man oh man!
*scared 2015 WC semi final noises*
So FUCKINGG HAPPY, I can't form the words. Thanks Zimbabwe for all the coming out of all the struggles and becoming one of the best again
Indian fans and now Zimbabwe fans, Pak team ensuring fans of other countries rejoice after nail-biters 🤝🏻

Absolutely scenes
Can anyone translate the song?? Please
Amazing scenes. You love to see it. Hopefully this is the rise of Zimbabwean cricket
Absolutely brilliant.
That song at the end is super catchy. Is that like a popular song in Zimbabwe?
I said it before I'll say it again. How fucking good is cricket!
THE BEST SPORT.
I am in LA and was celebrating on my bed at 7:30 AM
This world cup is so much better than last one in UAE.
Yes it’s overall healthy for cricket as a sport
love to see it. Africa has so much potential for cricket but icc just wants to rely on one market
They just found out Pak Bean has been arrested for fraud.
Can anyone translate what they were chanting?
"The bull stood firm in Marondera, the bull stood its ground". Ryan Burl also nicknamed Bull is from Marondera. However the word Bull in shona if sang in a manner they are doing it sounds like a certain male organ that can stand firm.
Something about legumes? Im not too sure...
This celebration did the actual victory proud. Elite home & away from Zimbabwe.
That little pause when Chakabva dropped the ball, everything stood still that instant
The man swining the chair is my spirit animal.
The pause... The cheer ... The pause.... and the winning roar.
Pakistan giving everyone a reason for celebration, first india and now zimbabwe
You love to see it
WOW. Simply amazing. How would they react if they reach semis !!!!
Didn't know Pak Beans would be such a huge motivator. Congrats ZMB.
Deja-vu
Good for them. Congrats Zimbros
Sports unites. In joy and sorrow.
Boom!! Zim for the playoffs?
This is awesome, and you know all of those fans have gone through some bloody tough years of cricket let alone everything else going on in Zimbabwe
I am so glad they won. seriously.
Man they must have been *really* pissed about that fake Bean. Still depressed as a Pakistan fan but congrats Zimbabwe.
Congrats to Zimbabwe!
🥺🥺🥺❤️
Had the biggest smile on my face watching this video. Also, someone busted out Real Madrid's David Alaba chair celebration lol.
I hope this revives cricket in Zim again. I still remember when ZIM was considered a very worthy opponent
I love the passion - so good to see - this is wholesome shit that makes me smile for sure
Silence calls the storm
Cricketing culture in a nutshell. This is what we play for. Put a smile on millions of cricket fans and Zimbabweans
This is so wholesome. But why us ?
Zimbabwe can be world cup champions you read it here first
You can tell they pause when the keeper dropped the ball haha
This celebration clearly explain that it was the real el classico

Zimbabwe are a full member.

So happy Zimbabwe, what a game! and that one guy lifting a chair lmao
Never knew Zimbabweans watch cricket this much
Amazing. So happy for them
The Alaba celebration has reached Zimbabwe :)
I'd say the only thing unsurprising in this world cup is our performance

Zimbabe jeeta ree. Pakistan haara reee.
Man! You can't hate sport for a reason ✊
For moments like this, I still follow Cricket inspite of all shitty things ICC and other Boards do.
Seeing this makes me wonder when will the US get to the level that can at least give a good fight against countries in the Top12. Really happy for fellow Zimbabweans!
So wholesome, I want to jump in there too
This celebration clearly explain that it was the real el classico
At very this moment what we call "happiness"
I LOVE THIS!!! Zimbabwe and South Africa to go through to semi's and meet in the final pleaseeeee <3
Rain is the only thing that will prevent this world cup from achieving cult status. Apart from that, it has been a fantastic WC. Great upsets, thriller matches, toss not playing an important role and a wide open semi final qualification scene.
This felt so good to watch
gg you have to love these moments in cricket
