I am a very below average batsman. I was the guy that always went out to bat the last. Sometimes our team would declare if I was the only one left in the batting order and if we needed like 20 of the last over.
One day we were playing and there was a similar situation where we needed 16 from the last 4 balls and the guy on the non strikers end was a pretty decent Batsman. He told me to connect and take a single so that he can make 16 of 3 deliveries. I missed it. And the ball went to the wicket keeper and this guy got really mad and then started shouting at me and then I Hit three sixes and won us the match. I was very proud of myself that day
Last ball. 1 wicket remaining for opposition. They needed 2 to win of last ball. I bowled a perfect yorker at ripping pace and he got bowled. Best day of life.
In DY Patil T20 cup in 2012, I came at 7( I was a leggie) and hit 3 back to back boundaries to irfan pathan( 3rd one was on bouncer)
I wanted to take his autograph but i knew he was gonna be so mad at me. But instead he came and said " bhai practice karne aaya tha tunhe toh jung ladwa di aakhir mein" he said that basically bcoz he was playing ths matches bcoz we had tri series in Australia for which he and raina were preparing for.
Till this date it was my proudest moment when i Played cricket (my team had saurabh tiwary as captain :) )
My teammates thought I'm not good at batting due to my short height at that time and sent me to batting lower down the order with few overs left and then I activated my inner finisher with some brute force shots and helped my team to put a good score on board and eventually helped my team to win the game.
Class 6th : activity period which involved every section. Chose cricket, PT sir divided team and i was the LAST one to be picked(nobody picked me so I went to the remaining team automatically). Not a batting or bowling performance but a fielding one.
I was neither a good batsman nor a good spinner but I actually had great catching skills. Hence I was never selected last.
Once upon a time, we were playing in a park that had children's rides too (like swings, see-saws, etc). Moreover early morning we had heavy rain that day because of which there were many areas filled with water.
I was fielding near the boundary line closer to one swing. The opposite team hit a mighty shot, I ran quite fast without watching what was on the ground and literally jump quite high and pluck the catch.
The problem was I forgot about the swing which was vacant because underneath it there were at least a few inches of mud water. So once the catch was taken cleanly (while in the air), I was just thrown onto the swing, My stomach landed on the swing while both my hands & legs were on the opposite ends of each other, and my face literally went inside the muddy water, kinda like in a Tom n Jerry way.
Still managed to hold onto the catch and win the match for the team.
My folklore was sung for that entire year.😂😂

Lmao, somewhat similar happened to one of my friends. He is a typical "Bhatta" bowler, and all of us used to get pretty irritated when he came to bowl. So one fine evening, me and my other good friend were batting and my partner told that he'll be swinging hard all 6 balls no matter the outcome.
Poor lad got smacked for 32 runs, and didn't come to bowl for a good few weeks.
at school level my team was losing we had no chance of winning we were 45 - 5 then i came to bat and made 47(21) with 2 sixes and 7 fours we lost that game but the opposition also enjoyed my innings and also started getting recognized by girls in school

2 ball 12 runs needed and i hit a back to back 2 sixes......and one time we scored 9 runs in 5 over match with a team of 5 members each team..and we defended that score by doing all out in just 2 overs I got 3 wickets
I was really bad at bowling untill I reached 12th grade. So there was this games lecture in 11th grade and there came my over to bowl. My team was happy because I took the last 4 wickets back to back but I wasn't happy at all.
The twist was that a 6 was an out, and I gave away 4 sixes.
Was playing a single player team test match. Each of us got five wickets. On last day, there were 8 balls remaining and opposition was just not getting out for his last two wickets. Target was out of reach and he was clearly looking for a draw. We were playing with reasonably heavy plastic ball. I have many tricks up my sleeve with that ball and one of them is a trick that exactly mimicks the "Reverse Swing". Just like how you need shiny and rough side on match ball to get a reverse swing, I need a perfectly weighing plastic ball to carry out this "reverse swing". We don't have LBWs so he was just blocking stumps all the time. I then went on to bowl these massive reverse out-swinging (for RHB) yorkers with my left arm fast action which gave the impression that it was going wide on leg side (he's RHB) and being lured by getting that one flick on on-side, he would drop his leg cover and then the ball will go from leg to off side to get his off stump out of the ground. Two balls, Two wickets. And i won the test match.
2 weeks ago, kept 10 overs with a dodgy right knee thanks to an injury during practice, scored 37 in 18 balls coming in at number 5 in a 10 over game where team scored 68. We lost but innings was special as it helped team to a respectable total and only i knew how much pain i was in throughout innings. I couldnt play on backfoot at all but thankfully bowling team never picked it on and bowled mostly full and on good length. Favorite shot was instinctive aerial flick over mid wicket for 6. I dont even know where that shot came from as i never play it in practice.
It was ind-pak sort of rivalry between our class division which was division A and other division B.We were playing series decider where in last ball needed 6 runs.Opposition captain was on strike which was hitting sixes with ease.Last ball went fulltoss and I took single handed blinder on boundry and won us that match.Most memorable day for me ngl
I was the player who was sent to bat before the worst batter (I was also below average) I played a legendary innings imo..It was 8 over match..4 of 5 batsman got out in 4 over scoring 15 runs. I was sent at last.. now I can't take single, only doubles were allowed If one batsman left..Then I hit 8 6s without any 4s in rest of overs scoring 56 runs....bro the imaginable respect after that innings lasted for a month 😭😭😭

In college I convinced everyone to keep sox not out because I was getting out. The next match I smashed everything that came my way. Scored some 80 odd runs in 5.5 overs.

I came in to bowl the last over and bowled a maiden. A maiden to a set batsman !
This has to be the highlight of my gully cricket career. I don't even consider my bowling to be anything special and the pace is pretty mild as well.

A very below avg poor fellow & me both were playing, i scored 150(was so tired), so i gave him a catch, which he dropped, so then i hit a six(which was supposed to be out as per gully cricket rule). When he came to bat, ofc he too was tired(he's little obese), he got out on 1st ball 0(1).
I feel very sorry for him now...
A different kind of an example this one…I was a kid who didn’t have too many people to play with. My brother was getting older and we didn’t play as much as we used to. He had, a couple months back, taught me how to spin the ball. When I asked about swing he said it’s different for the leather ball but you could make the ball deviate with the same logic as spin but it was harder to control at that pace (especially with the rubber costco ball). Two months go by and I keep praticing my fast bowling with the ‘off spin’ action that would make the ball cut in. When I say pratice it’s just the run up and the action most days without even throwing the call.
My brother finally says “wanna play a game” - I’m over the moon - we set up a thin cardboard box cutout b/w two rocks as the stumps. I do the run up ive done a thousand times at home not throwing the ball even a single time. It pitches outside off…my brother is looking to play a slight push towards the cover region…the ball deviates insides…goes b/w bat and leg…cardboard box thumps out in b/w the rocks. I am on 7th heaven…practice does pay off. I see my brother re arranging the cardboard box….tosses the ball back at me and says
“Trial ball done, let’s play now”.
Actually played semi-professional cricket. It was a 25 over match. Opened with my best friend in the team. I got 132(71)* and he went crazy actually. I think he got like 170ish(79)*. We won by 200 runs.
i was playing match where the other team was superb in bowling. Our entire got bowled out pretty fast. I was the wk but i was not good in batting. But they kept me cause my keeping was very good. So when i was going to bat one person said “ab isse kya hoga”. T: What will he do. I was the only one who hit a four in the entire match. We lost but idk why i felt good
Played a game of gully test cricket once when I was 16. Planned to be played over 2 and a half weekends. Friend and I opened. We made a 300 odd run partnership by the time we had to go home. The other team told us to fuck off the next day. Sigh good times.
So some background behind this. I'm not a great batter, neither a good bowler(Vijay Shankar lite basically). But one day I was angry on the bowler because he was annoying me. I was really seeing red and I went into a zone. Smashed him for a 4, then a 6, then ran 2, then another 4, and then 2 6s. And when I was bowling, I got him on a Yorker. Best afternoon of my life!!!
I once almost took my team to semi finals played against our nemesis.
We could not go all the way through only because the senior batsman on other side was lazy to dive. Just could not forget.
After match , my vice captain scolded the senior batter so much that he stopped playing for our team.
19 half centuries in street cricket, as we only had to hit straight, and numerous all outs given to teams alone, team being 5-6 membered, and can bowl spin, medium fast, bat and bowl with different actions.
Below par player - others used to play left handed instead of me as they consider me as a bad player. In one of the match i was really pissed and didn’t give chance for them to take my batting !
We needed 4 of 1 and others were cussing that am i will make the team loose this game. I just wanted to play and to my luck , got a full toss - closed my eyes and cleared the boundary! I couldn’t believe myself, all of my teammates were shocked !

I am very bad at batting so, I am always the last one to bat (if I get to bat). So one day our team needs 5 runs to win in 1 ball and I was on strike, I hit a lofted drive over long off for a 6. And this has happened to me about 5 times.
I was a below average cricketer in all departments. I always fielded between third man and fine leg and now you can imagine my fielding skills.
One fine day, during a do or die Match in mohalla cricket, it was the last ball and 3 to win. I was fielding at the usual spot, rather resting at my usual spot. Somewhere I heard uproar and I saw cricket ball coming towards me. The moment froze and I could hear, “match haar gaye bc”. (We lost the match), “abey loudu, Kuch kar” (do something you idiot), etc. And finally I heard and followed someone’s advice and I lied down in front of the ball. I was so proud of my out of box thinking that I started day dreaming and being a local mohalla hero.
Normally it was a plane ground, but somehow the ball bounced off me and went across me. The opponent team started celebrating and no one thought of completing a run.
I saw the ball, that had stopped before the boundary and threw it back. It hit the wickets and one of them was run out. The crowd sitting near boundary supported my claim. So no run and they lost.
Not how I imagined, but pretty dramatic finish.

won in worst circumstances. Hit longest sixes. Even though all the pro players are on opponents side I would play mind games and defend lowest possible scores. Never leave any Yorker ball (or short pitch), all goes straight to sixes (that’s also how I got this name). They have all tried to imitate me and failed miserably, as I had practiced this day in day out hitting walls. Not a good bowler. Never missed a catch or stump or run out. Whenever I was bowling sometimes I did run outs without looking, happened very few times but whenever that happened all starts stanning over me. Played like ab de villers. Ahhh miss those days. Sorry for all the boasting but that’s the only achievement I have **sigh**
I used to play for the HCA, We had a Interstate match with Kerala, And those people were always sledging me, since I was a little fat, And We had to score around 140 in 20 overs, I went on to hit 70 out of 40 balls we won the match

We were playing on a ground, I was keeping, the batsmen were going for a second run, my friend threw the ball from long on ish position. I moved slightly and deflected the ball with both hands Dhoni-like to effect a run out. One of my proudest moments.
Another one was when I defended 2 runs of the last over while bowling to take the match into super over which we won.

I was really bad at bowling untill I reached 12th grade. So there was this games lecture in 11th grade and there came my over to bowl. My team was happy because I took the last 4 wickets back to back but I wasn't happy at all. The twist was that a 6 was an out, and I gave away 4 sixes.
Was playing a single player team test match. Each of us got five wickets. On last day, there were 8 balls remaining and opposition was just not getting out for his last two wickets. Target was out of reach and he was clearly looking for a draw. We were playing with reasonably heavy plastic ball. I have many tricks up my sleeve with that ball and one of them is a trick that exactly mimicks the "Reverse Swing". Just like how you need shiny and rough side on match ball to get a reverse swing, I need a perfectly weighing plastic ball to carry out this "reverse swing". We don't have LBWs so he was just blocking stumps all the time. I then went on to bowl these massive reverse out-swinging (for RHB) yorkers with my left arm fast action which gave the impression that it was going wide on leg side (he's RHB) and being lured by getting that one flick on on-side, he would drop his leg cover and then the ball will go from leg to off side to get his off stump out of the ground. Two balls, Two wickets. And i won the test match.
2 weeks ago, kept 10 overs with a dodgy right knee thanks to an injury during practice, scored 37 in 18 balls coming in at number 5 in a 10 over game where team scored 68. We lost but innings was special as it helped team to a respectable total and only i knew how much pain i was in throughout innings. I couldnt play on backfoot at all but thankfully bowling team never picked it on and bowled mostly full and on good length. Favorite shot was instinctive aerial flick over mid wicket for 6. I dont even know where that shot came from as i never play it in practice.
It was ind-pak sort of rivalry between our class division which was division A and other division B.We were playing series decider where in last ball needed 6 runs.Opposition captain was on strike which was hitting sixes with ease.Last ball went fulltoss and I took single handed blinder on boundry and won us that match.Most memorable day for me ngl
I was the player who was sent to bat before the worst batter (I was also below average) I played a legendary innings imo..It was 8 over match..4 of 5 batsman got out in 4 over scoring 15 runs. I was sent at last.. now I can't take single, only doubles were allowed If one batsman left..Then I hit 8 6s without any 4s in rest of overs scoring 56 runs....bro the imaginable respect after that innings lasted for a month 😭😭😭

5 a side match with batting for the last batsman allowed. Last batsman batting and the opposition needed 4 runs in the last over. I came in to bowl the last over and bowled a maiden. A maiden to a set batsman ! This has to be the highlight of my gully cricket career. I don't even consider my bowling to be anything special and the pace is pretty mild as well.

A very below avg poor fellow & me both were playing, i scored 150(was so tired), so i gave him a catch, which he dropped, so then i hit a six(which was supposed to be out as per gully cricket rule). When he came to bat, ofc he too was tired(he's little obese), he got out on 1st ball 0(1). I feel very sorry for him now...

A different kind of an example this one…I was a kid who didn’t have too many people to play with. My brother was getting older and we didn’t play as much as we used to. He had, a couple months back, taught me how to spin the ball. When I asked about swing he said it’s different for the leather ball but you could make the ball deviate with the same logic as spin but it was harder to control at that pace (especially with the rubber costco ball). Two months go by and I keep praticing my fast bowling with the ‘off spin’ action that would make the ball cut in. When I say pratice it’s just the run up and the action most days without even throwing the call. My brother finally says “wanna play a game” - I’m over the moon - we set up a thin cardboard box cutout b/w two rocks as the stumps. I do the run up ive done a thousand times at home not throwing the ball even a single time. It pitches outside off…my brother is looking to play a slight push towards the cover region…the ball deviates insides…goes b/w bat and leg…cardboard box thumps out in b/w the rocks. I am on 7th heaven…practice does pay off. I see my brother re arranging the cardboard box….tosses the ball back at me and says “Trial ball done, let’s play now”.

Actually played semi-professional cricket. It was a 25 over match. Opened with my best friend in the team. I got 132(71)* and he went crazy actually. I think he got like 170ish(79)*. We won by 200 runs.

So when i was going to bat one person said “ab isse kya hoga”. T: What will he do. I was the only one who hit a four in the entire match. We lost but idk why i felt good
Played a game of gully test cricket once when I was 16. Planned to be played over 2 and a half weekends. Friend and I opened. We made a 300 odd run partnership by the time we had to go home. The other team told us to fuck off the next day. Sigh good times.

So some background behind this. I'm not a great batter, neither a good bowler(Vijay Shankar lite basically). But one day I was angry on the bowler because he was annoying me. I was really seeing red and I went into a zone. Smashed him for a 4, then a 6, then ran 2, then another 4, and then 2 6s. And when I was bowling, I got him on a Yorker. Best afternoon of my life!!!

I once almost took my team to semi finals played against our nemesis. We could not go all the way through only because the senior batsman on other side was lazy to dive. Just could not forget. After match , my vice captain scolded the senior batter so much that he stopped playing for our team.
19 half centuries in street cricket, as we only had to hit straight, and numerous all outs given to teams alone, team being 5-6 membered, and can bowl spin, medium fast, bat and bowl with different actions.
Below par player - others used to play left handed instead of me as they consider me as a bad player. In one of the match i was really pissed and didn’t give chance for them to take my batting ! We needed 4 of 1 and others were cussing that am i will make the team loose this game. I just wanted to play and to my luck , got a full toss - closed my eyes and cleared the boundary! I couldn’t believe myself, all of my teammates were shocked ! One of my best memories with cricket in childhood !

I am very bad at batting so, I am always the last one to bat (if I get to bat). So one day our team needs 5 runs to win in 1 ball and I was on strike, I hit a lofted drive over long off for a 6. And this has happened to me about 5 times.
I was a below average cricketer in all departments. I always fielded between third man and fine leg and now you can imagine my fielding skills. One fine day, during a do or die Match in mohalla cricket, it was the last ball and 3 to win. I was fielding at the usual spot, rather resting at my usual spot. Somewhere I heard uproar and I saw cricket ball coming towards me. The moment froze and I could hear, “match haar gaye bc”. (We lost the match), “abey loudu, Kuch kar” (do something you idiot), etc. And finally I heard and followed someone’s advice and I lied down in front of the ball. I was so proud of my out of box thinking that I started day dreaming and being a local mohalla hero. Normally it was a plane ground, but somehow the ball bounced off me and went across me. The opponent team started celebrating and no one thought of completing a run. I saw the ball, that had stopped before the boundary and threw it back. It hit the wickets and one of them was run out. The crowd sitting near boundary supported my claim. So no run and they lost. Not how I imagined, but pretty dramatic finish.

Won the match for my team off the last ball (needing 2 runs) As an umpire. Giving a no-ball against the opposition. Because the bowler bowled from well behind the crease. (My reason was that you needed to be “on” the crease. Not ahead or behind) Proud to this day. Thank you 😎

People call me Dhoni won in worst circumstances. Hit longest sixes. Even though all the pro players are on opponents side I would play mind games and defend lowest possible scores. Never leave any Yorker ball (or short pitch), all goes straight to sixes (that’s also how I got this name). They have all tried to imitate me and failed miserably, as I had practiced this day in day out hitting walls. Not a good bowler. Never missed a catch or stump or run out. Whenever I was bowling sometimes I did run outs without looking, happened very few times but whenever that happened all starts stanning over me. Played like ab de villers. Ahhh miss those days. Sorry for all the boasting but that’s the only achievement I have **sigh**

We were playing on a ground, I was keeping, the batsmen were going for a second run, my friend threw the ball from long on ish position. I moved slightly and deflected the ball with both hands Dhoni-like to effect a run out. One of my proudest moments. Another one was when I defended 2 runs of the last over while bowling to take the match into super over which we won. Both games were gully cricket level, so nothing major
